Need to lose 8lbs in 1 week

EllieMae33 · 05/06/2023 16:23

Firstly , I just want to say if this triggers anyone please don't proceed to read.

I am looking to lose 8 lbs in 8 days. I know this will require a strict diet and I'm not sure what approach to take. 800 diet, keto, liquid. I'm considering a 24hr fast.
Anyone have any advice on how to get results fast.

This is short term only for one week and will be sustained healthily beyond that before you judge.

I was told I needed to lose weight in February to be eligible for ivf. They said i needed to teach this by my next appointment or we wont be funded. We cannot afford 7k quoted privately at min as we lost everything over covid and were only slowly building savings up . Landlord sold up and we just had to move in april to a council house which has no carpet which couldnt wait as floors were disgusting and needed serious decorating ( wallpaper ripped off, holes in walls ect so its taken us quite a bit of money to make it habitable ,so we really are relying on being eligble for publicly funded ivf. This really means alot to us, as weve been on a waiting list now for 4 years already, i dont have time on my side as im 38 now. They told me the board are extremely strict and won't allow me to be even 1lb over, so my goal is to be 1 lb under.

Since feb at my first appointment , I've lost 2 stone. I did this over 3 months by reducing calorie to 1500 and walking daily so it was gradual and not a silly diet or anything. I was supposed to have until end of June but clinic phoned yesterday and told us they need to move out appointment forward , if we don't take this appointment we'd have to wait another 8 weeks at least as they said they can't place the booking on system at moment.
So yeah I really need to try and shift this weight in the next week. If anyone can over any advice as to what worked for them , if really appreciate it

Please don't put this much stress on your body and then turn around and ask it to carry a child. Just wait 8 weeks and go into the appointment glowing with health and with your body ready to work.

MK85 · 05/06/2023 18:55

Just to clarify to other posters.. she wouldn't be starting ivf straight away. It could take 6 months to a year, depending on your local wait times . What happens is, at her next appointment she'll be put on a waiting list for ivf. My waiting list is 12 months.

-Low/ zero carbs, lots of water

-Saunas, steam rooms every day and especially day before

  • a bottle of white wine the day before to dehydrate you- trick body builders use ( not sure you loose weight as such and def not healthy 🤔)
-Inch loss body wrap as well at a spa.

Although that much that soon is near impossible 😕

I was gonna suggest this, my friends husband is a boxer and sometimes has to do this to make weightl. He just eats watermelon for a week. 🤢

EllieMae33 · 05/06/2023 19:02

I'm going to give it my best shot guys and see what's possible.

No I'm not planning on doing a 1 week extreme diet then jumping into ivf immediately. The wait list is a another year , once I'm on the list, which wont be until next appointment. Hence why we don't want put it off for another few months as it could be 3 or 4 months when they would give another appointment . They won't even attempt to book us in on system for another 8 weeks. We don't really have time on our side as I will be turning 39 in October and ivf is another year's wait. We feel we can't push it off for another few months.
It's one week and definitely I would not be pursuing anything this extreme beyond that

I did it for IVF and I had:-

Breakfast:
2 heck sausages with spinach or 2 scrambled egg with spinach

No lunch

Dinner:
Chicken and salad or fish and veg

No carbs, no sauces, no fun. I also took the dog out before and after work on a 15 minute walk. The headaches were horrendous, I was miserable as sin and starving, but it was all worth it once I had that final weigh at the clinic to confirm my eligibility

Good luck!

muuummypig · 05/06/2023 19:09

I also asked if I could be weighed in my underwear and had no jewellery on just to make sure! Sounds daft, but I didn't want to go back down to the bottom of the list

bellac11 · 05/06/2023 19:12

Dont take the gamble, take the appointment in 8 weeks

Could you try a colonic irrigation? I'm not sure how many lbs they can shift.

BettyBananaMan · 05/06/2023 20:01

Google Keto egg fast and god speed!

Ripleysgameface · 05/06/2023 20:28

100% works for me every time I do it.
The James Duncan diet.

Follow it to the letter and you lose a stone in a week. It's a diet designed to crash lose weight for surgery and isn't drastically unhealthy. I think you lose mostly water weight but works and is real food.

I've done it loads of times so PM me if you have any questions.

I don't know anything about this OP, but I would hope that even though they've given you a weight target, that there is in reality a little buffer around that to account for differing scales, having just eaten beforehand etc? I would hope that if you were 1-3 lb over target and could account for it by eg saying you'd stopped off for lunch on the way, they would factor this in. I have no actual knowledge of this at all, and I wouldn't bet or count on it. But I would like to think they wouldn't turn you away if you had lost 2 and a half stone and were 12st 1? Maybe?

Wizzbangfizz · 05/06/2023 21:17

@Ripleysgameface i think I could do that - can you have salt and pepper? 😖

Ripleysgameface · 05/06/2023 21:25

@Wizzbangfizz
No salt is best or very minimal if you do.
It's incredibly bland but works.

I use lemon juice, pepper and chilli for flavour.

Itisyourturntowashthebath · 05/06/2023 21:25

The only way is to not eat for 6 days and the take diuretics for 2 days.

If you think that is a sensible start to parenthood......................

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 05/06/2023 21:29

I'm 5ft3. Goal is 12 Stone. I'm currently 12st.7lbs

As pp have said you aren't overweight enough to lose that amount of weight in that short an amount of time. It isn't possible and you will seriously make yourself ill trying. Sorry.

This is not something that has ANYTHING to recommend it but I had a colonscopy last week which involved a 36 hour fast and a clean out with Moviprep. Lost 2kg. 1kg came back on within 2 days.

Colonic irrigation instead maybe?

But wine is full of sugar ?? 🤔

Missingmyusername · 05/06/2023 21:45

The James Duncan diet doesn’t seem bad at all, I think I’m going to try it for a week.

Good luck OP.

Xrayvision · 05/06/2023 21:54

OP had you thought about asking the doctor to use some common sense? You were given a target weight to reach by the end of June. You’ve shown that you lost weight steadily since February and if you continued would have met it. But they’ve changed the timeline, it’s simply not fair (or healthy) to expect you to lose the weight with 3 or 4 weeks less to do it in? As other PPs have said, it’s not like you will start treatment that day. Good luck 🤞🤞

jackstini · 05/06/2023 22:16

Cabbage soup diet
I usually lose 7-9lb in a week on this

Not sustainable for a healthy diet, but the week before holidays (or IVF appointments) can do the trick

Normative · 05/06/2023 22:25

I weigh less than you and lost half a stone in a week eating tuna, apples, black coffee and water.
I then succumbed to a stomach bug because I was so run down and lost a further half a stone in 3 days!
It’s doable. Good luck

Opine · 05/06/2023 22:40

I’ve lost that much in a week before and I’m 5.8 and 10 st
You absolutely aren’t extremely overweight but you are enough so to make a loss of half a stone not too difficult.

Youll need to go full Keto, do lots of cardio(fast walking even) and fast. Get all the exercise done before you eat and only have a six hour eating window from around lunchtime. You’ll likely need to do a full 24 hr fast on the last day. It’s brutal but it should work.

Crap of the clinic to spring this on you really but you can do it. Good luck.
