Yes this was definitely the case for me. Injected in my thigh and seemed to have no effect at all, but works well when injected into my stomach

Twins3007 · 07/06/2023 11:58

I went on Ozempic about 18 months ago for about 8 months, i lost nearly 2 stone and yes it worked as an appetite suppressant. after a couple of months I put half the weight back on so decided to try another pen but no matter how I diet or exercise I have not been able to lose weight it has no effect on me at all

Twins3007 · 07/06/2023 12:04

I am soooo cold all the time why is this

gingerbubs · 07/06/2023 18:30

Just a quick heads up - I just ordered a 1mg pen from quickmeds for £175

wearesuceeding · 07/06/2023 18:52

I have just bought off quickmeds for anyone struggling to find any stock.

I have not done well weaning off. My old cravings return and old habits sneaking back. Is anyone planning on sticking to this for life?

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 07/06/2023 18:58

Thank you so much - just got mine too.

Andrasa · 07/06/2023 19:43

Ah, I missed it! Maybe next time

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 07/06/2023 22:14

Those who ordered from quickmeds , did you get an email alert, was it knowing the time of day or just luck?

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 07/06/2023 22:18

I saw the message here. The time I did get an e mail alert the website crashed. They say they release slots around 6 pm. I was successful previously around the same time on a random try.

gingerbubs · 07/06/2023 22:27

No, I didn't get an alert though I'm sure I'm signed up for them. I try to check most days just after 6. Today was about 20 past, and when the site crashed the first time I tried I guessed they may have stock 🤣. Managed to get through the consultation and order.

lardass88 · 08/06/2023 08:05

Like most people I'm struggling to find pens in stock. Was wondering if anyone is tempted to try the raw semiglutide ? I see it's all over TikTok ..

Right now I don’t see any other option than staying on it for life. A couple of weeks ago I decided to see what would happen if I waited ten days between doses rather than seven. My appetite came right back and I was eating and hungry just as I was before. I put weight back on.

MiniCooperLover · 08/06/2023 08:52

I feel like I'll reassess after two years (if I'm able to keep affording it and sourcing it). I think it can take a long time to retrain your body into what's good food/bad food for your metabolism and I'm hoping by then I'll be in a better more healthy way of eating and so won't be as dependent on it.

mumwheresmyribena · 08/06/2023 09:04

@greylad @wearesuceeding
How long have/had you been on it?
My reading of the literature is that medium to longer-term use to promote good habits and enable the endocrine system to recover and hopefully take over is recommened. Long-term (continuous) use is an option if not.

I remember from giving up smoking many years ago that a few weeks or even a few months aren't enough for me, it wasn't until I'd been smoke-free for a year or more that I felt "safe", however that was the second time, the first time I have up I "lasted" 5 years before restarting. Similarly it took 45 years before I managed to retrain my habits enough to do something as simple as stop biting my nails. Habits are very powerful things and they have a real impact on our brains and endocrine systems.

I'm aiming for around a year on Ozempic, then maybe a long tail-off. I'm hoping that after a year or so I will have retrained those bad habits and reset my eating, appetite and set point, I'm working to increase my GLP-1 releasing foods and actively researching other food/ hormone interactions too. Assuming it's still available though I'd still restart Ozempic if necessary.

mumwheresmyribena · 08/06/2023 09:13

@MiniCooperLover Agreed. It's part of the reason that I think the "I'll just take it for the appetite supression to lose a sone" brigade are doing everyone a huge disservice.
It's main aim is not really simple appetite supression, it's maybe the first effect people feel but its main focus is on the endocrine system - yes I know that does effect the appetite but not in the "blunt" I have no appetite way that many people feel initially. It's effects on our body and brain are much more complex than previous drugs available for weightloss,(except maybe brupion).

StandingOvulation · 08/06/2023 09:18

@mumwheresmyribena hullo, your post is very interesting.

Could you tell me more about the GLP-1 releasing foods, please?

greylad · 08/06/2023 09:35

@mumwheresmyribena I have now been on it exactly 12 weeks and have lost 8kg as of this morning! I am having surgery for endo later this year so I’m really pleased about this!

I have had quite a bit of low level nausea over the 12 weeks, and a lot of the time that has led me to have essentially white carbs - toast or cereal, because it doesn’t set off the nausea. At these times something like Greek yogurt and fruit or a really tasty salad just wouldn’t be on my radar (even though I love it!).

I think I still need to find a balance in terms of being hungry enough to be able to eat/stomach nutrient dense food but not so hungry that I end up eating the sugary junk like I used to.

mumwheresmyribena · 08/06/2023 09:36

@StandingOvulation This sort of stuff came to my attention a couple of months ago, I'm really interested in the science of obesity and how complex it is, Why We Eat (Too Much) really crystallised my interest too. I posted a piece here in this group a couple of months ago about GLP1 food then I posted it again at the request of someone else in another group - but it may have been a different piece (similar message through), maybe search on my name here...
Anyway try this one - note the similarities between the foods mentioned and what's recommended to eat when on Ozempic???

When you start to look into it there's a lot of scholarly posters or there about this. If the above piques your interest Google "GLP-1 food" and have a deep delve.

Ozempic Is a Weight-Loss Sensation, But These Foods Give The Same Effect

You've probably heard about the medication Ozempic, used to manage type 2 diabetes and as a weight-loss drug.

TimeWaitsForNoWoman · 08/06/2023 10:01

Hi guys! How long did plateaus last for you all? And was weight loss slower after you had been on Ozempic for a while?

I have been on 1mg for one week (stepped up from 0.5 because I felt super hungry and the food chatter was back!) but started Ozempic in early March. I have been in a weight loss plateau for two weeks now. Can't complain really, because I've lost a lot of weight, but I wondered how long this may last? Or whether weight loss will just be really slow from now on?

For info I have lost 3.5 stone, currently weigh 13st 12lbs and my bmi is currently 30.4.

I am going to focus on upping my protein and moving more.

mumwheresmyribena · 08/06/2023 10:39

@greylad Ahh, I see. Personally after 12 weeks I'd totally expect my appetite and food habitsto revert back to as they were before starting. It's a big ask for Ozempic to change all that in that short of time. It's a bummer though, especially if you have decent results but bad side-effects.
