I have a lot to loose - but I don’t think I could afford it- is it expensive?
thank you

Hi, yes we have all paid as it's not available on prescription for weight loss. It is expensive at £200 a month but there is a big shortage at the moment so the price has gone up.

It's good stuff, it's not for everyone as it can cause some side effects.

mumwheresmyribena · 04/06/2023 15:36

@Prettybubblesintheair
In 2020 I damaged my ACL, PCL and meniscus and could hardly walk let alone exercise. Even in late 2021 all I could manage was 15 minutes of yoga a day so that's what I did. 10 minutes a day can and did make a huge difference to me.

10-15 minutes of weight-bearing exercise a day, be it weights or body-weight like yoga done consistently are super effective. - and you're more likely to do it. Build those muscles to fill out that crepey skin!

I love my yoga (yoga is body-weight bearing) and I use the Down Dog yoga app. It has tons of different types of yoga and you can vary the intensity and difficulty and do anything from 10 minutes to 90 mins. It has options for barre, running, HIIT and meditation too.

I was like this when I first started saxenda, which works in the same way. It did get better over time, I started in November 22 and felt miserable until feb. It has now worn off, and I am weaning off slowly as I reached my goal weight. I only now have included exercise, it felt impossible before. My choices of food are also better now but at the start I basically felt 1 st trimester pregnant like.

Try the Couch to fitness programme by Our Parks.

It's completely free, only equipment you really need is a yoga mat or a non-slippy rug.

Same concept as C25K so the workouts start out easier and get progressively harder over 9 weeks. 3 x 20 min workouts a week, 1x cardio, 1x Core and 1x Glutes.

What I particularly like about it is that they have multiple instructors in each video and each one is doing a slightly different variation of the move so that you can do the variation that you are capable of, it's really adaptable and you can repeat weeks if you don't feel ready to move up to the next level.

Sometimes I just put some music on and dance in the sitting room. DC is at college and DH upstairs WFH so no one sees me.

I got mine on prescription from my GP. My BMI was 60 though and I have underactive thyroid, and my blood sugar was high so possibly pre diabetic. My GP said she would prescribe as long as I continue to lose weight (about 4kg a month). I have to go into the GP once a month to be weighed with the nurse and take my food diary for a dietician to look at. I have to do finger prick blood test every day to check blood sugar is not too high. It used to go up to 14. Now it's stable between 5-7. In 9 weeks I've lost 2 stone and 4 lbs. My BMI is down to 54.

Your progress is inspiring @caringcarer ! I like seeing BMI go down , I check mine with every pound lost. And good to hear about the blood sugar levels - I was pre diabetic so although I’ve not had it checked again since March I’m hoping that the weight loss has made a difference . Will have them checked in a few weeks.

caringcarer · 05/06/2023 07:13

@OzHopes I feel so much better in general. I used to need to wee about four times every night, now it's just once, so I sleep so much better. I have more energy too.

Teddypops · 05/06/2023 07:49

@caringcarer fantastic progress. Sorry, I hadn't realised that it was possible. But so glad for you that you were able to get it as it seems to be making a difference for you.

Fingers crossed for some more production very soon.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 05/06/2023 17:53

Back to work and back on track. Normally I'd have put a couple of pounds on over a half term but I think I gained 0.5lb.

No breakfast.
Ham salad and some yogurt for lunch. (Indigestion and teaching PE dont mix btw)
Now I've had 2 sausages and some fruit for dinner. And I couldnt finish it.
I still find it bizarre.

MiniCooperLover · 05/06/2023 21:54

Odd little charade off Juniper today wanting to do a 'review', asked various questions and I've now been 'moved' to a 'Weight Reset Programme - Semaglutide 1mg'

Fairly sure that's what I was on anyway? Except it's now costing me £225 ...

Twilightstarbright · 06/06/2023 18:44

Apparently Manual have upped the cost to £250 a month but they have a supply of 1mg pens.

uggmum · 06/06/2023 18:54

I am 5 weeks in and I have lost a minimum of 1 kg every week.
I am not hungry and tend to eat around 1000 calories a day.
I am menopausal and really struggle to lose weight and this amount of calories seems to work for me.

I am still on a dose of 0.50 at present.

I see people losing a lot more than me but I am hoping my current weight loss stays consistent.

Andrasa · 06/06/2023 19:15

I’ve just started my 1mg pen so need to look for a new one!!! Hopefully four weeks is enough? I signed up for the quickmeds alert but doesn’t look like it restocked today 🙁

i hit 10kg lost today so am v v pleased with that. I’m about halfway through my journey.

MiniCooperLover · 06/06/2023 19:21

I've got a lurgy and have really noticed feeling hungry today, though have managed to control if. I'm always hungry when I'm poorly, have always envied those who say 'oh I forgot to eat' like heck ... 😂

MuMuMuuuum · 06/06/2023 19:22

@Twilightstarbright that's right they have increased the price. They called me yesterday to explain and ask if I wanted to stay at the new price. It's a big increase but I don't want to risk not getting a hold of stock so I'll stay with them for now.

Kidsaregrim · 06/06/2023 20:24

Hey!
I have a 1mg pen now and took my first dose last week after doing the 0.25 x 4 weeks and .5 x 4 weeks. I always get super tired in the days that follow but after the first 1mg I was FLOORED!

does anyone know how many clicks I need to get a .5 from a 1mg please?

Teddypops · 06/06/2023 20:33

Ouch £250 is a lot!

I started a new pen yesterday (1mg -have been on 1mg for past 2 months). And I have been starving all day long!!

I've not eaten too much . More than normal but nothing too bad. High protein in an attempt to feel full,

Bought both my pens from the same place and the last one was fine. Kept in the very top of the fridge I the hope of it not freezing.

I hope I'm not hungry again tomorrow!

Yes it's 36 clicks for 0.5 from a 1.0 pen. I took 1 dose of 1.0 and was so constipated I felt really unwell. I had to take Senna 2 days in a row before I could go then of course it was horrible. This week I took 0.5 on the Wednesday and another 0.5 on Monday. This seems to suit me better. It's still 1.0 in just over a week. I'm going to do this for 2 more weeks then move the Monday back to Sunday and see how that goes. I'm still losing weight each week so.im not too bothered. I have also bought some Fybrogel to take on day I take injection and also next day to help with constipation. I don't have to calorie count because I'm just not hungry so eating little.

36/37 clicks for 0.5ml from a 1mg pen

caringcarer · 06/06/2023 20:37

In the half term I thought I'd cook a breakfast for DS and me. I cooked us each 2 sausages, 2 bacon, an egg, 2 hash browns and some baked beans and half a grilled tomato. I cooked everything except the egg in the oven or grill so thought it would be ok. It looked lovely. All I could eat was half a hash brown, I ate the egg, half of one sausage, 1 1/2 bits of the bacon and 2 forkfuls of baked beans. I was just full. The dogs loved it. They were all waggy tails at me.

caringcarer · 06/06/2023 20:37

This is why I haven't needed a calorie count.

Kidsaregrim · 06/06/2023 20:43

Thank you!

Andrasa · 07/06/2023 09:17

Has anyone else found the injection site seems to make a massive difference? My thighs were getting bruised so I swapped to my stomach and omg I’m feeling so sick. 🤢 all I managed to eat yesterday was a couple of chicken nuggets for lunch and then a few bites of a lamb and spinach curry for dinner, then spent all night feeling awful.

I've heard this is a thing but can't work out why. Definitely people have reported this.

I'm too scared to change from my thigh.
