Just ordered saxenda

Diorinthecountry · 26/05/2023 19:55

Just that really. Ordered one pen from Asda today. Had to send in pictures of myself so they could see me and me on my scales. Its not arriving until next Wed due to the bank holiday. I am 13st 7 pounds and utterly fed up of being fat. My height is 5ft 2

Has anyone else been around my weight and had good results with it?

I have been seeing a personal trainer for a few weeks now and really enjoying it. I also have a appointment with a private dietitian in June.

How have you guys found saxenda?

The constant has approved my order so now it just says pending dispatch.

The notes do say that if I don't lose 5% of my body fat within 3 months they don't let you order again.

Does that mean 5 pens will last me 3 months? Or only if I stay on the lowest dose?

If it arrives at say lunch time to work does that mean I can leave it in my ruck sack as it is until I get home at 6pm?

MarvelGal · 11/06/2023 13:52

I meant consultant not constant.

Inspirationperspiration · 11/06/2023 14:26

The wool is compostable so mine went in the blue bin

MarvelGal · 12/06/2023 13:30

It's been dispatched!!!! 😁

Does anyone exercise whilst on this?

What sort of meals or snacks do you have?

I was thinking of aiming for a protein shake for breakfast, salad for lunch and then fish or meat with veg for teas. But half the portions I'm used to.
Plus maybe apples for snacks?

5 pens is 6 weeks worth if you follow the recommended dosage of increasing each week to get up to 3mg a day, after that 5 pens at the daily 3mg last a month.

But as you may see from other people’s posts lots of people drag it out on the lower doses, you will only know once you start taking it if that works for you.

I have found it very effective from day 1, but definitely needed to up the dose after the first and second weeks as was noticeably more hungry and thoughts of food creeping in, have managed to stay on 1.8 (the week 3 dose) for 2 weeks instead of 1 week, it is still working and am going to try another week as that dose means each pen lasts 10 days which is better value but it is involving bit more will power than it was so I am expecting to have to go up to the next dose.

The 3 month point is part of the licence, it can only be prescribed beyond 3 months if a patient loses at least 5% by then, if not you cannot stay on it. In my experience if it’s going to work for you then you easily hit that 5% loss and if not then it’s not working so right not to carry on

upanddownandupanddown · 12/06/2023 14:03

Going to join you if that’s okay? My order has just been approved today, so I’ll be getting it tomorrow. Nervously excited about what might happen with it. BMI currently about 32, first aim is to get it below 30. I’m looking forward to not being so damn hungry all the time!

What happens if after 3 months your BMI is lower than 30%? Do they then refuse to prescribe more?

MarvelGal · 13/06/2023 13:34

My order has arrived so I'm going to have my first dose this evening at around 6pm so that if the side effects are bad I'm not at work.

Not eaten much today already as not feeling very well. Felt really sick but possibly because I skipped breakfast. So need to plan what I'm going to be eating going forward.

kissthegirlshesnotbehindthedoor · 13/06/2023 14:05

@MarvelGal may I ask where you got yours from? I'm struggling to find any in stock!

I got mine from chemist4u. You fill your info out and then it gets send to a consultant to review and they message if they need any more info.

MarvelGal · 13/06/2023 19:23

First injection done!

Question though, are you meant to pinch fat and inject or inject just as you are?

I've done my stomach this time, but read thigh is better for less side effects. However, I don't know how much fat you need there?

Inspirationperspiration · 13/06/2023 20:01

No need to punch, just needs enough fat to go into so doesn’t go straight into the muscle and get metabolised there

Diorinthecountry · 13/06/2023 21:18

Thanks @Inspirationperspiration my compost bin is arriving this week so will be able to chuck it in there going forward.

@MarvelGal I exercise a few times a week. I've not done anything this week though as the weather us too hot. I have done some gardening though. I just eat my normal meals/snacks but smaller portions. Hope you feel better soon. I injection in my stomach and pinch as I find I don't feel anything then. If I don't pinch then I find it quite nippy.

@Sotiredmjmmy I agree if you haven't made a dent by month 3 then it's time to give up.

@upanddownandupanddown welcome 😁 did your injection arrive ok today?

Well this morning was my second time on the scales and I've lost nothing.... zilch... zero

I think it might be water retention and I know I've not been drinking enough lately. Does anyone else find it puts you off drinking also?

Yesterday and today I've made a effort to make sure I am drinking enough fluids. Especially in this heat.

OP posts:
Inspirationperspiration · 14/06/2023 05:48

Yes, I’ve had to be very conscious of keeping fluids up
i presume that as long as you were at the right bmi to start with as you go down it’ll be ok. You are asked if you’ve been using it before on order so think it comes from that?
chemist4u have stocks if that helps anyone.

I think you'll find that you won't want snacks, and possibly not three meals. I eat when I'm hungry.

I have coffee in the mornings - not even vaguely hungry in the mornings.

Lunch about 1pm - usually a small salad with protein of some description.

Dinner about 7pm - lots of veg, protein, and a small amount of carbs.

I take a tablet before bed that usually sticks, so I have a corner of bread to get it down. If I didn't have to I wouldn't because I'm usually still full from dinner.

You aren't going to be hungry. When you eat you'll get full much more quickly, and stay full much longer. It's so liberating!

MarvelGal · 14/06/2023 10:49

I had some yoghurt for breakfast and have a salad for lunch. No idea for tea.

Diorinthecountry · 14/06/2023 11:23

@MarvelGal that sounds nice. What about stir fry or fish for dinner?
We are having roast chicken with salad tonight. Had a coffee for breakfast.

@Inspirationperspiration thanks. I've started using my water bottle so I can keep a eye on what am drinking.

I've just went to re order from Asda and I can't 😭 they have completely run out. I could kick myself for not ordering earlier.

Diorinthecountry · 14/06/2023 11:56

Just ordered more pens from chemist4U they seem to be ok for stock. Everyone else has ran out. I said to them I was already using it and Asda have ran out. They gave me a free pack of hangover tablets Confused

OP posts:
MarvelGal · 14/06/2023 12:03

I got the free hangover tablets too haha. No idea what that's all about!!

Diorinthecountry · 14/06/2023 13:42

Maybe they are handing them out free for us to get pissed and forget about our weight Grin

OP posts:
MarvelGal · 14/06/2023 15:10

Haha you may be right.

Everyone in the office is eating cake. I feel like I want some but also like I don't? It's a very strange feeling.

Only ate half of my salad at lunch.

Diorinthecountry · 14/06/2023 15:24

Your right it is a strange feeling to get your head around. Its made me think how much was I eating out of habit not because I was hungry.

Keep the half of your salad for lunch tomorrow. Will save you making lunch tonight Grin

chemist4U have said my order has been accepted and they will let me know once its dispatched. They haven't asked for photos of me or anything.

OP posts:
MarvelGal · 14/06/2023 15:54

They didn't ask me for photos and once it said approved it was dispatched for next day delivery. So should be with you tomorrow.

I can't even think of anything I want for tea. Might just buy a protein bar or something.

coolcahuna · 18/06/2023 08:26

I got the free hangover sachet too, random. I managed to get some from asda delivered last Monday. I've been on 1.2 for a week now, total 3 weeks on it and lost 7lb. Nearly breaking into the next stone bracket. So pleased , not getting hungry but I do feel sick and strange if leave it too long without eating.

Im eating 2 meals a day, eating the same as everyone else but way less. We did an afternoon tea yesterday and I had a small plate and one small cake. I was such a mindless/stress eater before and that's just all disappeared with this. Feel like I can make much more sensible choices now.

One thing I was wondering is I've got a doc appt next week for some medication. Chemist 4 u tell your doc but not sure if asda do. I might mention it as I think my weight might come up , at least I've got some small good news now and progress

MarvelGal · 18/06/2023 10:54

Does anyone exercise on this? I had my 5th jab yesterday evening. Today was the first day back at the gym since starting on it.
I had a 450 calorie protein flapjack 2 hours before with a coffee as was worried about not having enough energy.

Anyway I managed 25 minutes of my PT session and had to stop and come home. I felt so sick and kept going really dizzy and light headed like I was about to pass out or throw up.

Is this caused by the saxenda? My heart rate was in the 180s. I'm now back home sat in front of the fan feeling really yuck.
