Just ordered saxenda

Just that really. Ordered one pen from Asda today. Had to send in pictures of myself so they could see me and me on my scales. Its not arriving until next Wed due to the bank holiday. I am 13st 7 pounds and utterly fed up of being fat. My height is 5ft 2

Has anyone else been around my weight and had good results with it?

I have been seeing a personal trainer for a few weeks now and really enjoying it. I also have a appointment with a private dietitian in June.

How have you guys found saxenda?

Couple of pounds lighter than you, same height
started couple of weeks ago
felt awful for 3 days then fine just much smaller appetite
went to get refill but was out of stock and got messed around for a week with ‘yes we have it in definitely, oops no we don’t back and forth
had to restart it again from beginning and having no affect at all now😞

Diorinthecountry · 27/05/2023 14:40

@Inspirationperspiration aww that's a shame 😪 not great for momentum. I didn't know there was a shortage until I was looking to buy it. On Asda they have limited you to one pen. Did you have any loss during your first few weeks?
Hopefully you don't get any side effects this time. I am nervous about the side effects and hoping that it doesn't make me feel unwell.

Can I join. Just literally started it today. I'm same weight as you OP and 5'4 . I feel like I've lost and gained the same 2 stone about 4 times and enough is enough.

Did first injection today. Not sure if it's in my head but not had much appetite yet. I've got a bit of an odd metallic taste in my mouth

Diorinthecountry · 27/05/2023 15:55

Yes of course @coolcahuna welcome Grin

Can I ask what made you inject in the morning rather than at night? I am in two minds to do it am/pm.

I've gotten into such bad habits from bloody lockdowns (that were years ago now) same lost then its found me again.

Thanks! I didn't really Google whether morning or night was best, my boyfriend did the injection for me as I'm a bit of a wuss! Do you think evening is best? Had brunch at 11am and only just getting slight pang of hunger. By now I would be ravenous usually !

Inspirationperspiration · 27/05/2023 17:49

I did it in the AM as wanted the affects over the day
no side affects this time roynd and not many before

justsaxy · 27/05/2023 19:46

Hello! I’m quite new too, nearly 2 weeks in and going well overall, weight down (11lbs but I started at 3 stone more than you) and minimal side effects.

Interesting about Asda limiting stock, that’s who I am using, I asked them only on Thursday about stock and they said fine but I was bit suspect so re-ordered a 5 pen pack anyway, feeling less bonkers reordering early now!

Diorinthecountry · 28/05/2023 11:15

@coolcahuna looks like it's starting to work for you. Think I will try it in the morning also and see how I go.

@Inspirationperspiration thanks for letting us know about the lack of side effects for you. That's positive to read and good for you.

@justsaxy welcome Grin 7 weeks is a long time for a appointment. Is that normal where you live?
I bought it privately to get it quickly. Still going to call my gp and let them know I've started on it. With the NHS it's a bit of a palaver to eventually get it prescribed.

@Beenalongwinter it was just under £70 that's including a sharps box and delivery.

Hi Grin @Sotiredmjmmy welcome. 11 pounds down is fantastic. We'll done you. That's great you aren't effected with side effects. Sounds like you done the right thing stocking up. Maybe it's just new people who are being restricted?

justsaxy · 28/05/2023 11:46

@Diorinthecountry I have an appointment with an endocrinologist, at my GP's request. Perfectly normal (sadly).

justsaxy · 28/05/2023 11:46

But very encouraged by these posts!

Day 2 here and still not hungry. Feel quite nauseous instead of hungry if that makes sense. Sticking to 1300 to 1500 cals.

Bit I'm trying to find out is do you have to up dosage week 2 if you're doing fine. Also at what point do you stop if ever?!

Diorinthecountry · 28/05/2023 22:23

@coolcahuna I've seen people say they stay on the same dose if it's working for them and only increase when they notice weight isn't moving or they feel more hungry. Think you stop when you get to the weight you want to be at. Sure I read you can't be on it for longer than two years.

Look for a chart
you have should have had one sent
it’s roughly a week at each stage
soes get expensive to ough

Yep got the chart on the medication. Just wondering if I need to up the dose as much as it says . Will see how it goes.

I’ve found it’s noticeably less of an effect as get the to the end of the week so I need to up it, the starting doses are very low but am wondering if I can drag out 1.8 and 2.4 for longer

Diorinthecountry · 29/05/2023 15:46

Asda sent me a email this morning saying my prescription is on hold and the Dr has sent me a message looking for more info. I don't have any messages in my inbox. Not sure what to do now.

They have sent me the info on how much to take at the start then weekly.

I've seen on social media people trying to stay at one dose for as long as possible to save money or if side effects are bad they reduce back down.

OP posts:
Azandme · 29/05/2023 16:01

Day 9 here. Lost 8lbs in week 1, but I'm heavier than you.

I do mine at night. A little nauseous in the mornings but a gingernut and a coffee sort that out. If I eat too much I get uncomfortable and get heartburn but it passes quickly (by too much I mean I had one homemade waffle this morning and was uncomfortable).

I've found taking it at night means I don't get hungry in the day so eat maybe a cup a soup and a banana over the day, but I can eat a small portion of family dinner which is important to me.

Diorinthecountry · 30/05/2023 10:24

@Azandme 8 off in a week is amazing. Thanks for sharing your experience on injecting at night.

I called Asda yesterday who apologised about the delay and said it would be sent out asap. Then the Dr sent me a message asking for me to send in another picture of me standing on the scales. The first picture I sent in on friday was fine both myself and dh checked it before sending.

Tbh I think Asda are now taking the piss and stalling due to stock issues. I thought about cancelling my order and going to another place but no one is taking on new patients for it due to the stock issues.

It's still saying my order is pending. How frustrating. I would rather they were honest and said sorry we have no stock than stringing this along.

Sorry for the rant Grin
