Just ordered saxenda

Just that really. Ordered one pen from Asda today. Had to send in pictures of myself so they could see me and me on my scales. Its not arriving until next Wed due to the bank holiday. I am 13st 7 pounds and utterly fed up of being fat. My height is 5ft 2

Has anyone else been around my weight and had good results with it?

I have been seeing a personal trainer for a few weeks now and really enjoying it. I also have a appointment with a private dietitian in June.

How have you guys found saxenda?

Hurrah!

I got mine from Superdrug.

Diorinthecountry · 01/06/2023 12:56

@Azandme it was delivered this morning and is now in my fridge 🥳 feeling slightly nervous now 🤣 but excited. I just hope it works.

I had a bottle of wine last night so thinking about starting it tomorrow. Scares incase the alcohol in my system reacts with it.

I had a look at superdrug but they aren't taking on any new people for it.

How are you getting on?

Azandme · 01/06/2023 13:52

All fine here thanks. Moved up to 1.2 last Sunday, side effects have really eased off. No more nausea. I'm a bit hungrier, but still eating far less than before.

Looking at the scales I'm only going expecting 1-2lbs this week, but that's expected after 8lbs last week.

If you start tonight the wine will be well and truly out of your system.

Diorinthecountry · 01/06/2023 14:30

@Azandme that all sounds positive for you. Glad the side effects have more of less left you now. 1/2 pounds would still be a good amount off in a week.

Going to start it tonight and see how I get on.

No side affects for alcohol for me - I forgot and had a couple of wines but not an issue. Will have the odd one when I fancy it.
am enjoying being able to look at cake and go, nah don’t really fancy that. It’s revolutionary!!

Diorinthecountry · 01/06/2023 20:00

@Inspirationperspiration thank you. It would be nice to still have the odd glass of wine. During covid times I was drinking far too much wine. I've cut right back over the past year to around 2/3 bottles a week. Going to cut it back further. Wine just bloats me and makes me pile on the weight. Plus I end up eating half my fridge. No wonder I've piled the weight on.

Really? That's great about the cake. It's crazy how it works. It's like magic in a pen.

I have wine, but one occasional glass is enough now. A bottle has lasted two weeks! 😮

How are you getting on?

Diorinthecountry · 02/06/2023 10:27

@Azandme I done my first injection last night around 8pm. I had a little bit of heartburn and felt slightly sick around 11pm. It only lasted a few minutes then went away. To be honest it wasn't that noticeable. We had a bbq around 7pm last night then I didn't have anything else to eat just didn't feel like eating. Drank plenty of water/cranberry juice yesterday.

I've lost over 2 stones with it. That's the most weight I've ever lost. I'm no longer obese, just overweight and I feel so much better. It does seem to have stopped working as well in that I'm hungrier now so sticking to my calorie deficit is harder but I'm going to stick with it. It's not a quick fix, you have to do the work, but for me Saxenda definitely helped.

Inspirationperspiration · 02/06/2023 10:44

what dose are you on now? I assume that as soon as you come off it your body goes back to the old hunger?

I was up to 2.4. It seemed to have stopped working completely and I was back to being very hungry, so I had a break for a week then started again at 0.6. Like I say, it seems to be working again but not suppressing my appetite like it was before. Yes, when you come off it your appetite will return but I think the idea is that you'll have learned how to eat more healthily and smaller portions whilst you've been on saxenda.

Azandme · 03/06/2023 10:18

How was yesterday?

coolcahuna · 03/06/2023 11:01

Just checking in. Completed first week and am going to try 0.6 for a few more days before going up. I've lost 3lb this week which I'm really happy with.

Only side effect is the odd feeling of nausea which passes quickly. Been to 2 buffet type events and just had a small plate, mainly chicken. Find I cannot stomach eggs or cheese much and often not finishing meals which is a new thing.

Need to order some more pens today, hope there's no drama as been told I need to do a new prescription not a repeat one.

coolcahuna · 03/06/2023 11:02

Forgot to add I'm eating twice a day and aiming for 1300 to 1500 cals. Seem to be landing at 1400 cals a day, just doing normal meals but eating way less.

Chunkypineapple · 03/06/2023 11:19

I prescribe Saxenda in my role. Not being able to get ozempic for my patients who medically qualify for it has been a nightmare.

I just can't believe that people are buying these drugs and the put so much trust in them. It's mental.

Azandme · 03/06/2023 20:02

You do realise everyone who gets it has had it prescribed by someone who also "prescribes Saxenda in their role" right?

A private prescription is still subject to the same requirements as an NHS one (strange you don't realise that, you being a prescriber and all).

We're putting the same amount of trust in our fully qualified prescribers, as your patients do in you. The fact that you didn't figure that out before posting makes me wonder if their trust is misplaced.

Diorinthecountry · 03/06/2023 20:58

@Chunkypineapple ?
They are prescribed by Dr's from places like Boots, Superdrug pharmacy. So by your logic the whole American system is not to be trusted as that's a private health care system.

Why do you think the NHS has such a tough criteria for people to be prescribed the injections? Call me cynical but its so people who can afford it go and buy it private thus reducing NHS costs/waiting times.

These injections are the biggest breakthrough in over 10 years. I would have thought you would of been glad people are being pro active and helping themselves. In turn the money, beds this will save the NHS is astronomical.

Ozempic has now shown promising very early studies of helping dementia.

I really don't believe for one moment you are a health care professional.

@coolcahuna well done on the 3 pounds off. That's fantastic. Sounds like you have had a good week.

Thankyou it's been really good. Calorie counting is so much easier when you're not ravenously hungry isn't it.
Feel really motivated to keep going and do this slowly. 2lb a week is fine for me.

How are you getting on.

Diorinthecountry · 03/06/2023 21:07

@usernother you have done amazing. Well done, I hope reducing the amount starts to work for you again. I was reading that when you stop them you are really hungry but it should only last a few weeks then settle down.

OP posts:
Diorinthecountry · 03/06/2023 21:13

@coolcahuna same I would be happy with 2 a week.

This is day 3 for me. Touch wood everything is fine, no side effects. It's strange to get my head around not needing food. Getting impatient for my first weigh in on Thurs. I feel like it's letting me stand back and see more clearly where I was going wrong and what I need to stick with going forward.

I need to order more pens this week. Fingers crossed its not a palaver to get them. Not sure how many to buy this time.

Diorinthecountry · 06/06/2023 11:22

How's everyone doing?

I jumped on the scales this morning as I've no patience to wait until Thursday. I've lost 7 pounds WTF!!!!! My mind is actually blown.
