So, I delayed my Ozempic injection as I decided to come off Propranolol, mostly because of its reputation for blocking fat burning, but also because I was starting to suspect some of the symptoms I thought were stress-related might actually be because of the drug. (NB: I was taking it for anxiety and migraine prevention, you shouldn't just come off it if needed for reducing blood pressure).
I remembered something a friend once told me, "change only one thing", ie, don't do it all at once. That's when I decided to delay going onto Ozempic - the pen is in the fridge. I didn't want to put my body through coming off one drug while going onto another. I also wanted to make sure I didn't confuse any side effect from Ozempic with anything else going on in my life. I was about to return to work after two weeks holiday and I knew it might be stressful.
Back at work on Monday - mad, mad stressful day. Migraine Tuesday. Diarrhoea Thursday (I get this a lot - one instance, tablet taken and fortunately no more that day). This was without Ozempic - pretty much all stress-related. So was definitely a good move to delay.
Coming off the Propranolol resulted in a one-off overnight loss of three pounds. So was also a good move. I've actually been good on the food front this week, which I've struggled to do for the last year. I can't imagine this will last, but I'll take it for now. With all the stress, migraine and Wednesday night's storm which flooded roads to the gym, planned exercise stalled after Sunday's swim and Monday's treadmill. Nevermind. It's a baseline on which to improve.
In theory, my job is due to settle down in October. I think that will be a good time to start. I'm trying to negotiate a little bit of home working which will help if any gastro side effects appear. At least with the pen in the fridge, I don't have to worry about ordering. I've been reading more and more and this is something definitely suitable for me. I put on a lot of visceral fat when doc put me on Mirtazapine last year, I haven't been able to shift most of it since coming off and it's affecting my health.
My ideal is to get down to a good BMI 23 (I'm BMI 32 atm) on Ozempic/Wegovy and then taper doses to come off. Obviously, I don't yet know how I will react to the drug, but this is the plan. My only concern is continuing to get private prescriptions as the weight (hopefully!) comes off, especially as tapering. I purchased from RightAngled and I understand they want photos every three months to check. I hope this isn't going to be a problem.
Thanks for reading my essay! It's been great to read through these threads, but it does seem to have gone a little quiet here recently.
