Hi all. Just spotted the previous thread filled up so thought I’d start a new one quickly.

3rd 0.25mg dose today. I'm feeling rough like I'm coming down with something. I'm very busy at work so it could be un related. I also noticed yesterday and today I was hungrier. But then the few days after I take it I can't have much. Anyone else noticedthse things?

Yeah, I find I'm hungry in the couple of days before I'm due my next dose. But I still find I can't eat much.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 23/05/2023 22:56

I've never eaten breakfast as a rule, but I find I'm happy with my simple lunch (small salad and some fruit) and I don't usually fancy something very substantial for dinner either.

At the weekend I'll eat brunch, which could be toast and a coffee and that takes me though easily to dinner time.

Mostly it's nice not to feel I am fighting the urge to raid the cupboards for something to eat, and that's the biggest influence towards making me decide to pay out again for another month or two.

Scaredtobegin · 23/05/2023 23:19

Hi - could really use your advice!

im on week 3 and due to take week 4 dose the same day I go on holiday

I go on holiday every 6 weeks so this isn’t my big holiday of the year but I have been looking forward to this one for months and it’s a lovely all inc resort

My symptoms so far have been slight queasiness, thirst, fatigue and I’ve just realised - depression. Whilst annoying, nothing severe at present and I could easily enjoy my holiday with how I feel now.

My question: would you inject as you go on holiday or not?

also, has anyone taken the pen through security hand luggage?

mumwheresmyribena · 24/05/2023 06:56

@Scaredtobegin This has been talked about a lot in this and other groups. In 6 weeks or so Ozempic will just be building nicely to it's steady state (or have just got there), if you don't take it at that point for a week or more you'll be putting yourself back to the beginning in that it will then take another 6-10 weeks to build up again. Also if you're not having bad side-effects and if the reason for coming off it is so you can eat and drink more, I'd question your relationship with food and what will happen or you want to happen when you come off Ozempic, the whole point of it is to moderate your consumption.

Plenty of people travel with medical pens, think epi-pens, insulin etc, airports and airlines don't give then a second thought

MrsPerfect12 · 24/05/2023 08:34

Manual are not increasing my dose due to the shortage and I'm a bit concerned, I've only lost 1lb this 0.5 dose (4wks) so I'm feeling this is just a waste of money to be forced on the lower dose for another pen.
Had anyone else had a slow loss that eventually picked up?

I have this question also.

I started this morning! I have a holiday for two weeks in July should I put it in my hand luggage or main case? Will it need to stay cool?

Scaredtobegin · 24/05/2023 12:42

Thanks for the response. I’ve seen a mix of advice in this thread mainly about how you shouldn’t start so close to a holiday but that’s not possible for me.

I don’t want to stop to be able to eat, apologies if not clear. It’s more if the side effects could worsen if still on 0.25, just panicking about some bad side effects on a plane haha

Scaredtobegin · 24/05/2023 12:44

Also I know people travel with insulin etc
but when in airport security I distinctly remember insulin being checked. I would be MORTIFIED if it was checked separately.

I think I’ll inject Saturday morning before my flight

Peridot1 · 24/05/2023 12:51

@Scaredtobegin - I have travelled with it a few times now. I just put the box in a clear plastic bag and put in the tray with my other liquids. It’s never been an issue. Once the security person called down to the person operating the X-ray that an epi pen was coming through.

And why would you be mortified? It’s a drug taken routinely by diabetics for blood sugar and insulin issues.

mumwheresmyribena · 24/05/2023 13:03

@Scaredtobegin I read the dates you're on holiday incorrectly and thought you were going in 6 weeks - sorry. But actually going while in your 4th week is better, you'll still be on .25 and will be almost certain you'll be fine.

Why would you be mortified? It's a prescription drug that's been prescribed for you. No-one's going to give it a second thought, they've got far too many other things to worry about.

I’ve left manual because of this. Shouldn’t be taking the money and signing people up if they can’t fulfil. They are still advertising and that’s unethical imo. I’m not losing on 0.5 so their generic email is rubbish.

MrsPerfect12 · 24/05/2023 16:47

@Lostinalibrary where did you move to?

Getting through quick meds - however there are places around doing the 1mg for the same price as manuel. Cheaper now in fact they have upped their price.

justasmalltownmum · 24/05/2023 19:19

Hi all
I need some help.

I'm on week 5 of ozempic. Had a really bad day today. Ate 3 full meals, as well as 2 packs of crops and 2 ice creams. I think I am due on my period. First time since starting ozempic. Is this normal? Was doing so well up until now.

As dumb as it sounds, I just couldn't stop.

MrsPerfect12 · 24/05/2023 19:23

@Lostinalibrary thanks I'll take a look. They've ignored my email and despatched 😤

MrsPerfect12 · 24/05/2023 19:24

@justasmalltownmum Oh I've had the odd week like that, dont beat yourself up. Back on the bandwagon tomorrow.

Diedre44 · 24/05/2023 22:56

I'm mid way through week 9 on Ozempic and due to increase to 1mg this week. I'm unsure whether to just stay on 0.5mg for the next few weeks. This week is the first week I haven't had any side effects at all, I've lost 2st 6lbs so doing well. I'm unsure if the fact that I've had no issues at all this week means I'm starting to get to full tolerance or if that won't take effect until I have increased to 1mg. Any advice?

mumwheresmyribena · 25/05/2023 06:20

@justasmalltownmum I think most of us get days like that. Just make sure you have high protein, lower carb things to snack on, they'll fill you more without spiking your blood sugar so you'll be less likely to continue to eat. Try pre-packed snack meats, greek yoghurt, olives, some berries etc. I tend to keep a small container of almonds and a baby bel in my bag as well for "those" moments. Also it can help to take some soluable fibre like psyllium or glucomannan with a drink, it swells in your tum and makes you feel fuller.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 25/05/2023 07:09

I have definitely noticed a huge difference in my appetite and a lack of obsession about food. So my weight is going down.
But it hasn't and can't address the emotional or other issues that sometimes made me over eat so there are still times that temptation gets the better of me.

Menora · 25/05/2023 08:37

Ive had a 1lb off this week (week 2 of 0.25) but yes the food noise is the biggest relief and I am honestly just relieved to be rid of it for now

RichTeaCheddars · 25/05/2023 09:01

I'm just over 2 months using ozempic and I have lost 1 stone. So pleased! My tummy looks better and I managed to find 2 new bras that fit nicely (always a struggle for me)! So I'm so chuffed!

egowise · 25/05/2023 10:10

I've had to leave the Facebook groups I was on.
So much misinformation doing the rounds on them.
It's quite worrying how people can choose to take this without looking into it at all!

Diedre44 · 25/05/2023 11:12

@egowise I agree. I honestly believe people are expecting to find instant results when they literally have like 5/6 lbs to lose and already have a lower or "healthy" range BMI. Have seen so many posts where people will openly admit they've completely lied to prescribers just to get it. I've purchased from 3 different providers and Health Express are the only ones to have requested photographs (had to submit 3 iirc). I think you shouldn't be able to "opt out" of informing your GP either. I was reading another thread where a young lady had a BMI of 23 but had inflated her answers as she had tried everything to lose 5lbs and was praying this would shift it as due to go on holiday in a few weeks and people were commenting telling her she'd be able to do it with ease, liking her post etc. There were responses telling her how silly she was being etc and she had every "I know but..." response. Such a shame.

Peridot1 · 25/05/2023 12:14

That is really scary @Diedre44. I can’t fathom people’s thinking sometimes.

Yep, it's crazy. I will admit to being disappointed with my first week, then I had a talking to myself and reminded myself that it's not a quick fix and I need to be patient. So I reread everything I already had, and read some more.

With manual I had to take pictures.
I'm due to go up to .5 next week and they have emailed me stating this, but with the shortages I'm thinking they may not offer it, or at a higher price.
