I'm 33.

I'm 1m68 (5ft6)

I don't actually know what I weight and I got rid of my scales last year when getting on them just made me cry every time and I was just too depressed to even try and start loosing weight - I have ordered scales and will weight myself tomorrow.

However last time I weighed myself nearly a year ago I was 94kg (14st 11) and I know that I have gained since then.

I started gaining weight the beginning of covid, before 2019 my very highest weight had been 68kg ( 10st10) and my normal weight had been round 62kg for most of my adult life, so I have massively put on weight over these last four years. (Separation, depression, stress at work, and just general giving up).

My body is ruined by stretch-marks and my boobs that used to be great are now just swollen and saggy and stretch marked.

I'm really depressed by my weight and have decided its time to do something about it.

I have an office job and I'm not at all active.

I've tried to start making small changes, walking to the underground instead of getting the bus, getting the stairs up the one flight to my office instead of the lift but everything feels like a struggle and I have such awful thigh chaffing that walking is often excruciatingly painful.

I how I need to make a change because on top of it being so unhealthy being so over weight just makes me so upset. I've stopped going out as much and have just retreated into a shell.

I also have an appointment with a psychologist tomorrow.

I decided last month that enough is enough and I need to do something about it all.

I've started using face cream, and am finally having laser on my very very hairy thighs and - the point of this thread - I'm going to start saxenda tomorrow.

I thought I'd journal here.

I'm loving today

I've just had a text from my director ( who I complain about because of work load but who is a good human) saying he's been hearing noise in the office that there is a party at FPOTM place tonight and is this true?
Slightly amused I replied "well yes, but you're not invited" and he replied " and your hosting together?" and I replied "well yes but I told you I wanted to leave and I'm on my way to leaving the company, so is it really an issue that we're seeing each other?" and bless him he replied "but no thats not what I meant, but it's been a long time coming, you should clock off and go get ready". And so I'm done with work... and I'm going to follow his advice - this does mean that I'll probably have to work a lot on Sunday to catch up ... but Carpe Diem!

Tonight is going to be a shit storm transport wise because the Paris police basically mudered a young driver this week and so most transport is stopping in Paris at 9pm this evening because they're scared of urban riots like in 2005... and it's a way of ensuring an unofficial curfew.

@Saxendastarter Aww, that's a lovely gesture, and your kind Amazon guy. Have a lovely evening. The news in the in the UK is making the situation in Paris look quite bad, I hope it doesn't mess your evening up & all is well soon.
When I see 'perdu' written, I automatically think of 'pain perdu', then have to mentally switch it, my French skills really are quite basic!

BinnityBoo · 30/06/2023 17:21

@Glorfindels thank you, I really appreciate it!

@justsaxy I love that elephant quote! I absolutely adore reading and getting lost in a good book. Always open to recommendations

@ThisMustBeMyDream wow, that's an amazing difference, well done you!

@Saxendastarter What a nice amazon driver! and it does always feel nicer when you know there isn't an 'agenda' so to say, behind the compliment. Just a genuine compliment 😃

I'm still having a weird week, haven't eaten a great deal of anything that constitutes a proper meal really. I've got a lot of things going on between an annoying house sale and my mother was taken into hospital today with suspected malaria, (she has just come back from a malaria zone and was eaten alive by mosquitos!) still waiting on tender hooks for the results and waiting with her hospital bag in the instance she's kept in or transferred to the tropical disease unit in another area. She doesn't have great health anyway, so I'm praying it isn't malaria. So a stressful week to say the least, I'm supposed to be going away for the weekend tomorrow with some friends for a hen do, I've been really looking forward to it but half of me doesn't really feel comfortable going now.

I've lost 0.8lbs this week, literally 0.3kg.. not even sure if it's worth counting that as a loss 😂but I am proud of myself as I did set myself a goal to lose 1st before the hen do this weekend, and I've lost 1st 1lbs (6.8kg) and I'm back in the 70kg's range. I'm 45% of the way to my first target of 11st (69kg). I've got a dress to wear tomorrow that I definitely wouldn't have felt comfortable in had I not lost this weight. So, celebrating the wins rather than focusing on the negatives and the stagnant weeks.

Lovely to read all of your posts as always sisterhood! Wishing you all a lovely weekend.

BinnityBoo · 30/06/2023 17:26

@Saxendastarter haha, that's brilliant. Good on him for letting you clock off! Hope you have a fabulous evening hosting.

It does seem awfully sad, I read the driver was only 17? Scary stuff, hope you and your loved ones don't get caught up in any dangerous situations.

Footgoose · 30/06/2023 18:47

Hi all, so many great updates. Love the pictures of the food and your weight loss @ThisMustBeMyDream . That’s a huge difference in a short space of time . @justsaxy , I hope the recovery is still going well , those beautiful views must really help . Hi @Everdecreasingcircumferences and @BinnityBoo @CiderJabs , reading your updates , all so motivating . And everyone else too .
@Saxendastarter , great updates , hope this evening is everything you want it to be . The riots are all over our news, that poor boy . I hope the situation de escalated soon.

I’ll do an update over the weekend . The best news I have to share mind you is after a number of weeks of not being able to go ( iyswim) this particular side effect seems to have passed and I appear to be regular again . Not bad for 3ml a day . 😂

Pineapplepansy · 01/07/2023 09:33

Well done to everyone on their losses and non-weighing scale related victories.

I have just convinced my husband that we shouldn't go for a curry tonight as I know I'll overeat if we do so we've decided to go out for a pub lunch instead so I can eat light and he can eat whatever he likes!

My weight loss has stalled a bit as I keep having to have a couple of days off (I'm on the rybelsus tablets) as I keep getting migraines. Anyway I've taken one this morning and will keep painkillers with me today just in case.

I have a big event mid week and I'm hoping I can get into one of my favourite dresses for it. I wish I had time to go shopping for something new but I don't and if I order clothes online they either don't fit properly or look nothing like was expecting. I'd say 9 out of 10 things I order online is disappointing and I hate the hassle of returning things. I'm ashamed to say I've got a few items I haven't got round to returning that I'll never wear but at least the charity shops will benefit.

CiderJabs · 01/07/2023 10:02

Back home from the hospital and being looked after by my puppy who won't leave my side ❤️
Have had 3 days off sax and will take 0.6 tonight. Have not eaten much over the last couple of days so I'm hoping I've not put any weight on.

I'm starting saxenda this week.
Footgoose · 01/07/2023 10:41

Hi @CiderJabs , wishing you a speedy recovery, your little companion is beautiful ! Is he a cockerpoo? @BinnityBoo , you have a lot going on , I hope your mum is doing ok.

@Pineapplepansy , my weight loss stalled last week to “just a pound” . This week I’ve lost 3 and 3/4 ! Hopefully the same will happen for you.

What random side effects are people getting ?
Other than the obvious constipation we all seem to suffer with mine also include a very dry mouth and constant yawning even though I’m not tired . It’s a good job I wear a face mask at work because I’m yawning all the time , maybe 3 or 4 times per patient appointment of 30 mins. Maybe it’s nothing to do with the saxander , I’ve had a Google and can’t find anything conclusive. 😂

Big loss for me this week 3 and 3/4 pounds . The constipation has passed so that’ll have something to do with it I’m sure .

Ive not posted stats before . Start weight was 13 stone . 7 weeks later I’m 11 stone 3 3/4lbs . I’m 5ft 4 ( and a half ) so my top end healthy BMI is 10stone 8 lbs but my personal happy weight is around 10 stone . We will just have to see if I can get down as far as that , I’m 53 and post menopause so those days may be long gone . I don’t feel 53 mind you, in my head I’m about 25 😂. Other than the weight gain and slight brain fog I love being post menopause. It was kind to me in some ways, came on earlyish and didn’t cause me many issues .

Wishing you all a happy weekend . I’ll be back on the thread later hoping for an update from @Saxendastarter 😊

Saxendastarter · 01/07/2023 10:58

Lovely reading everyone’s updates. I’ll update later as I’m in a bit of a rush to pack my things for our trip out of Paris and I’ve gone and lost my navigo ( like oyster - but I’d just recharged for the month 🙄)

i had a really great evening but I do have a hangover !

@BinnityBoo Thinking of you and your mother fingers crossed that it’s not paludisme.

Thank you @Footgoose - she's a cavapoo. She has a lovely temperament and is very affectionate.

Well done on your loss. You should be proud. My happy weight is 9st 10 or thereabouts. Im also Peri (only slightly younger than you!) - and was made to take a pregnancy test before my surgery! I was like, whaaat?

Re side effects. For me the constipation has been the worst and also a bitter taste in my mouth.

Namechange602 · 01/07/2023 12:55

It's so lovely reading everyone's updates although for the last few weeks our house has been up for sale and I haven't had time to contribute as I've been too busy hoovering up dog hair between viewings (with a stupidly big dog it's my own fault) and exhausted from being charming to people who are sometimes quite rude. Still, the closing date was Thursday and we're now under offer so that's a relief.

I'm so glad everyone seems to be doing okay on this and yes, @ThisMustBeMyDream that's an amazing difference so well done. And I'm loving the updates about your FPOTM @Saxendastarter and how your romance is developing, and the travel pics!

It's almost exactly three months since I started on Saxenda and in total I've lost 1 stone and 12 pounds. Would have liked to hit two stone but this week has included wine and a couple of ice creams and so...

In the first month I lost almost exactly a stone and then it's been about 6 or 7 pounds per month since. A bit of fluctuation but generally pretty good. For me it feels that it's not simply a case of reducing calorie intake but rather the healthier I eat the more I lose even if calorie content is roughly the same. Current dose is 1.2 - 1.8 was working on the appetite side of things but I felt queasy a lot of the time so I'd rather lose a little slower.

I'm off to a conference in the second week of August and I'd like to get into the next stone bracket - so that's 11 lb from the 16st 10lb I am now. Two pounds a week feels doable if I pay attention to what I'm eating.

Non-scale victories this week - my jeans are now way too big and I need to buy new ones, and some Boden trousers that I've kept even though they were too small because I liked them now fit perfectly!

Onwards and downwards everyone - have a lovely weekend x

Just wondering if anyone's had similar or could give me any advice?
I've been on saxenda for about 6 weeks but have been increasing my dose extremely slowly and have been on 1.2mg plus a few clicks for just under a week now. I've been fine on it.

Last nights dose was my first from a new pen from the fridge.
I've woke up this morning with the most disgusting sulphur burps and extreme nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea.

It's awful! I'm projectile vomiting water and stomach bile.

I don't even know whats best to do. Do I stop eating and drinking, as even water isn't staying down. Or do I try to eat a little bit in the hope it helps? Waaaah this is awful

Footgoose · 02/07/2023 11:33

Hi Snuffles . That sounds awful. I have never experienced anything like that moving between pens or up the doses. I’m taking the full 3mg dose now . Someone else may have a different experience and let you know . Hope it clears up soon.

Footgoose · 02/07/2023 11:39

Probably no need to say this but having just re read the info leaflet , it’s suggested you stop taking the saxenda when side effects are as you described .

I had that when I first started and had to give up as I was going on holiday. So ill I was in bed most of the time. I restarted when I came back and have only slowly gone up to 1.2. The effect now is nowhere as strong as when I first started and I still have to exert will power. I was wondering if this was due to the age of the pen ( approaching 30 days) or my body tolerance. I'm just about to start a new pen- I will let you know. Fingers crossed that it doesn't happen again.

Saxendastarter · 02/07/2023 20:38

I'll update probably tomorrow about my weekend - I'm just back from walking over 25 miles since yesterday afternoon and stopped at a bar after leaving FPTOM to have a quiet glass of wine .... and and and .... this is going to sound ( read) stupid - but I think I'm getting back to my old self because for the first time in ages and ages ... the waiter has just come and given my a glass of wine a random has ordered for me... Im a bonafida feminist ... but after such an amazing weekend it's given me a lovely Sunday evening boost.

Just logged into my Boots account and they are out of stock! 🙈 I've got about 3 days worth of Saxender left. It's annoying. Going to be problematic if this keeps happening.

Footgoose · 03/07/2023 06:56

@BeagleMum1 . Gawd , bloody annoying . Same for Lloyds . I contacted the on line doctor regarding the shortages and asked if I should drop the dose to make the pens last longer . He advised me not too and to stay on the maximum dose . I know I can drop the dose of my own accord but I’m a stickler for following the rules . I’ve about 3 weeks worth left on the full dose . Not sure what I will do but I do think coming off the pens after taking the full dose may be a little abrupt but also told by on line doctor that tapering off not required.

Footgoose · 03/07/2023 06:58

Lovely pictures @Saxendastarter . I’m glad you had a lovely weekend.

ThisMustBeMyDream · 03/07/2023 08:02

Quickly dropping in with my weekly weigh. 1.5lb off this week. My daily weighs have just been all a bit up and down all week, so it is just luck really that it happened to occur on my weigh day, plus an evacuation last night 😉 meant the numbers were on my side.
I might up my dose this week. I've noticed my evening meals are getting bigger. I'll see what I lose this week before making a decision.

BeagleMum1 · 03/07/2023 09:18

I wonder if Boots have prescribed to, too many customers, hence the shortage?

CiderJabs · 03/07/2023 10:20

Lovely photos from Sax!

My brain is a bit foggy because of painkillers so I can't remember who said what! But I'm loving seeing the losses. It's an extra incentive to keep going. Sorry about the bad side effects, I think the advice is to stop it if it's that bad. Is there anyone on the pharmacy you could ring?

Re shortages. I've sort of resigned myself to the fact that I'm unlikely to get more pens. My bmi is just over 27 now and I have about 1.5 pens left so I think I need to make a plan to take them and reduce the dose back down so as I don't have to just suddenly stop, and then try to continue without it. But I'm scared. What's peoples views?
