I'm 33.

I'm 1m68 (5ft6)

I don't actually know what I weight and I got rid of my scales last year when getting on them just made me cry every time and I was just too depressed to even try and start loosing weight - I have ordered scales and will weight myself tomorrow.

However last time I weighed myself nearly a year ago I was 94kg (14st 11) and I know that I have gained since then.

I started gaining weight the beginning of covid, before 2019 my very highest weight had been 68kg ( 10st10) and my normal weight had been round 62kg for most of my adult life, so I have massively put on weight over these last four years. (Separation, depression, stress at work, and just general giving up).

My body is ruined by stretch-marks and my boobs that used to be great are now just swollen and saggy and stretch marked.

I'm really depressed by my weight and have decided its time to do something about it.

I have an office job and I'm not at all active.

I've tried to start making small changes, walking to the underground instead of getting the bus, getting the stairs up the one flight to my office instead of the lift but everything feels like a struggle and I have such awful thigh chaffing that walking is often excruciatingly painful.

I how I need to make a change because on top of it being so unhealthy being so over weight just makes me so upset. I've stopped going out as much and have just retreated into a shell.

I also have an appointment with a psychologist tomorrow.

I decided last month that enough is enough and I need to do something about it all.

I've started using face cream, and am finally having laser on my very very hairy thighs and - the point of this thread - I'm going to start saxenda tomorrow.

I thought I'd journal here.

Interesting. I was taking Sax at about 7am, and finding I was still hungry in the late afternoon and evening. Today I forgot to do my injection until about 11am……and then this afternoon I have only eaten some blueberries and had some drinks, and I’m not hungry. Maybe taking it later in the day is the key for me?

ThisMustBeMyDream · 25/06/2023 17:56

I do mine somewhere between 8-11pm, I am not hungry at all at breakfast, and only eat a small lunch. By dinner I'm definitely ready for a meal and eat a normal portion (which is normal for slim people as opposed to my normal potion which was easily twice as big!). After dinner thats me done. No hunger until at least the following lunch time, and even then it isn't really hungry, it's just that I don't feel full.
Would interested to hear how others feel with hunger vs timings of injection.

This is exactly me, I do my injection at 11pm, then don’t eat until 1-2pm and only a light lunch don’t find I need anything or have an appetite before then, but definitely ready for a meal at dinner time eating that about 8pm ish

ThisMustBeMyDream · 25/06/2023 19:09

I've just gone through my pictures to look at examples of lunches I've had on Sax. And lunches I made following SW. One lunch was well over 600cals! But all free foods! No wonder I simply couldn't lose weight at any kind of decent rate.
I've attached a few. First 3 are on sax. All on side plates. Around 150-200 cals. 4th and 5th are in large bowls/dinner plates and a lot of cals!! One is pasta salad, the other a veggie fry up. I can't manage 3 sausages now, let alone those plus all the rest!

Hurrah! New lowest numbers on the scales! 15st 10.5 this morning for week 7 weigh in. First official weigh in after a weeks all inclusive holiday and I'm 1.5lb lighter than when I left at the beginning of week 5! Unheard of (for me!). So bloody thrilled. 1st 3 total loss in 7 weeks. Gonna do a happy dance this morning!

Footgoose · 26/06/2023 13:08

@Saxendastarter . Stupid hot here too but it doesn’t usually last all that long in UK . I googled tomato farcie as I love tomatoes. I’ll be giving them a go!

@ThisMustBeMyDream congrats on the weight loss and a new low . Hope you did your happy dance . 😊

Wishing everyone a good week . X

Everdecreasingcircumferences · 26/06/2023 13:23

Hi All
Coming down to earth after what felt like a holiday with lovely visitors, great weather and a lot of laughs. Weighed myself this morning, 1.5kg up on Friday morning but still lower than a month ago so am pretty pleased (a lot of it will be water weight). Drank booze, ate good food, watched my portion sizes and didn't feel I missed out. First week of jabs done and am due to go up to 1.2 according to the instructions, will see if I feel ready for that later.

Saxendastarter · 26/06/2023 13:31

@Footgoose I do mine with half ground veal and half ground beef ( I know people can be a bit off about veal in the UK - but it's pretty mainstream here ) and I don't eat pork its better than beef alone which can be a bit dry and I double up on the herbs ... I made a lot (for the freezer for the summer).

They are so practical and already portioned to have around

Basically I cut the tops off the tomatoes and round little courgettes and empty the innards into a bowl.

I soak a few slices of stale bread in milk,
chop up a few onions and a lot of garlic,
fry the onions and garlic off and let them cool,
chop up a lot of parsley and chives.
Mix the ground meat with the soaked bread, the cooled onions and garlic, a couple of eggs, celery salt, a spoonful of bouillon powder, some fresh thym and oregano if I have any, smoked paprika and the herbs and black pepper, you have to make it into a sort of paste with your hands. I then stuff them back into the tomatoes and put the little hats back on. I then blend up the tomato and courgette innards with some extra garlic and thym and add it to the bottom of the dish and then add the stuffed veg and cook for about 40 minutes at 180°c in a fan oven.

Has anyone used a pen which is over the 30 days?

Saxendastarter · 26/06/2023 16:09

@Everdecreasingcircumferences let us know how upping the dose goes for you! Don't forget to try and mitigate the issue that keeps on getting @Radish12 posts hidden ;-)

@ThisMustBeMyDream Well done on your incredible losses!

@DollyTheFluffyOne from what I know the pens must be refrigerated and then once they are opened used within 30 days....haven't had a pen last over so I've never tried. This is what all the safety info says - I think it may loose potency afterwards ...

OP posts:
ThisMustBeMyDream · 26/06/2023 16:32

@DollyTheFluffyOne I did, last night. I had 0.6 left in my first 2 pens. One will have been 7 weeks out, the other just over the 30 days. I used it, as I hate waste 🙈. Now I've read what @Saxendastarter said, it may explain why I feel a little hungrier this afternoon! I had my usual tomato and mozzarella this lunch, wasn't hungry til 1.30. I just got home at 4 and was feeling quite hungry. My food shop isn't arriving until later so I couldn't start dinner. So I had 2 slices of small wholemeal loaf and lemon curd which has made me feel better! I probably won't try that again 🤣.

This is how I am feeling - that it is helping somewhat but I am hungry so maybe it does lose its potency.

Radish12 · 26/06/2023 19:19

That is good to know about the potency, although now I'm on the 2.4 dose the pens aren't lasting anywhere near as long as that.

That's a brilliant post-holiday result @ThisMustBeMyDream ! I think I may have just spotted you in my Facebook sax group too 👀 😄

Found it interesting the chat the other day about what time everyone takes their sax. I've done it before bed ever since I started just in case of any nausea etc, so I'm going to experiment with a morning dose instead as I definitely get the food chatter from about 3pm onwards. So giving it a miss tonight (and having an early night to take my mind off food!) and will switch in the morning.

@Sotiredmjmmy How are you finding the transition from SW? I've been doing it on and off for about eight years and it's still always in the back of my mind that I should be putting "speed" on my plate, even if I'm just having a low-calorie slice of toast and scrambled egg. Or being able to eat a tin of soup that might be 300 calories but would have cost half day's "syns". I certainly feel more relaxed about this diet knowing that I don't have to cook everything from scratch all the time. SW can get exhausting!

ThisMustBeMyDream · 26/06/2023 19:46

Yep, that was me on fb 🙈🤣. I noticed a friend of mine is on that page too. Good job I'm pretty open about taking it!
I'm loving the freedom from SW. I had 60g cheese for lunch. Now I'm having 90g cheese for dinner! And I don't care 🤣 because I'm well, well, well within cals for the day! I just love the freedom from not having to think about syns and shit. Someone said to me a couple of weeks ago "well done on the weight loss" and I was baffled for a moment because I couldn't understand what there was to congratulate as this has (so far 🤞) been so very effortless. Save the well done for when it gets harder, and life after sax. That's my worries!

Well yesterday was not a good day. About a year ago I had a non invasive celulite treatment and yesterday was my follow up. The lady was super embarrassed and said she had to ask whether i'd put weight on. They had taken pics last year and took more yesterday and you can visibly see how much fat I've gathered on my bum and hips. I was just mortified. Last year I was at my lowest weight (62kg) and yesterday I weighed 71kg (11-2) so I've put on 9kg from the 30 I had lost! It may not seem much but bloody hell i feel crap. I'm hoping the trauma and shame help me stay off the nuttella.

Im also having a surgical procedure next week (non weight related) and that will deem me immobile for a while. Im just terrified I'll pile on even more weight. I've reduced my dose to 0.6 following Sax's article about effects on GA and I'll take a 2 day break. But after the procedure I'll go back on it and will bite the bullet and increase to 1.8 in the hope that stops me from eating the whole fridge while not moving.

Sorry for the me me me post!

Well done on the losses you are reporting. Even though we are losing at different paces, we are all losing and that's what really matters.

Saxendastarter · 27/06/2023 14:11

Oh @CiderJabs I get you! That’s rough. But you’re making the change now. You will get back to a weight you’re happy to be. Stay strong. One breath at a time. On about page one or two of this thread I posted a pic of me from December 2020 and one when I started this threat and it was really really shocking for me to see the difference.

Its hard now seeing my scales going up and down and seeing that I’m the same weight I was three weeks ago even though I’m trying to make an impact… but the journey is a long one.

good luck with the operation and let us know how it goes. And if you can try and do something nice and rewarding for yourself rather than reach for the food cupboards.
take care

@Saxendastarter you're such a sweetheart and a kind soul. Thank you.

I'm about to have my eyebrows threaded so as don't look too rough at the operating table lol.

I know what you mean re old pics. My biggest ones are awful. I'd post them here but my personal trainer has them all over social media so they're likely to be super outing!

BinnityBoo · 27/06/2023 16:17

@Saxendastarter that's really lovely about your pregnant colleague, I found myself smiling at the screen that she's protected and your boss has been so accommodating!

@ThisMustBeMyDream Oooo I saw you on the saxenda fb group too but thought that it might be you 😆

@CiderJabs that's really tough! I feel you, I spent a small fortune in 2021 to work with a nutritionist for almost a year and got down to 70kg from 79kg and not even a year later I was weighing in at 90kg, I was absolutely mortified and still cringe when I think about it. It's a really horrible feeling but you're not alone. I've got my fingers crossed for you that your surgical procedure goes well!

Somebody mentioned about feeling 'flat' and I must mention that sums up how I've been feeling as of late. My weight seems to have stalled again at 12st4lbs (78kg) and I've had to have a week off from swimming and running because I've somehow, really hurt my knee 😔which has me feeling pretty low. I binged on Sunday for the first time since starting and felt pretty embarrassed about it but to be fair, it wasn't a patch on what a 'binge' used to look like for me, but I did eat a whole share bag of chocolate and then more chocolate on top of that.. and crisps and lots of bread sigh

My eating habits have been a bit odd lately and I feel the way you feel when you're sick, the thought of eating things I always eat turns my stomach and the only thing I seem to fancy is dry toast/plain, simple food. I don't know what's up with me! Today I've had two digestives and a cinnamon fibre one bar, I've had my morning shake sat on my desk staring at me all day and a small pot of chicken & rice in the fridge and I just can't bring myself to drink/eat them. I feel exhausted and just generally a bit off.

Sorry I haven't been doing the weight updates, I haven't lost anything in a couple of weeks so haven't really felt motivated to post them 😆

On the topic of pictures, I actually came across a picture I took last year in March, I had just got back from an all nighter in A&E as had a blood clot (long story, thanks to contraception that didn't agree with me) and they weighed me in a&e and I was so ashamed and embarrassed by how much weight I'd gained, I took a picture of myself when I got home and I came across it the other day and it was really hard to look at. But to be honest, it was good motivation to keep going. I will post it, if I ever get the courage 😂

Everdecreasingcircumferences · 27/06/2023 22:51

I am assuming it takes a while for the body to react to the jabs, just taken my second 1.2 this evening, have felt constant food chatter and stuffed my face since about 5pm today. That's the first time in a month I've felt like this, wondering whether the indulgence at the weekend has set off all my old cravings again and I now need to wean myself back off sugar. I'd done so well and now feel I'm back to square one.
Onwards and downwards, hrt is playing sillies with my cycle which was 23-25 days and this month is 34 days and counting. Wonder if that isn't helping either. Really hope this food chatter goes again!

Saxendastarter · 28/06/2023 07:19

Day 66 ( yesterday)

Breakfast
Black Coffee
water
Nutella bar

Lunch :
pasta and back olive salad
courgette salad
ice tea thingy
coconut and berry pudding
water

Snack
Squash

Supper
tomate farcie* *

Stupidly excited because I have a dinner party on Friday again and FPOTM sent an email to everyone yesterday saying we were doing it at his instead of mine and used the wording « Sax and I … blabla blabla … look forward to seeing you at my place blabla and by the way blabla if you plan on staying over blabla that’s fine but Sax and I are leaving early Saturday for the weekend blabla so you’ll have to look after yourselves for breakfast». I know I’m not a teenager anymore but I got little butterflies reading it, we also did a communal shopping order for the dinner on his food shopping account and it felt really special along with reading his writing of Sax and I to other people.
