I'm 33.

I'm 1m68 (5ft6)

I don't actually know what I weight and I got rid of my scales last year when getting on them just made me cry every time and I was just too depressed to even try and start loosing weight - I have ordered scales and will weight myself tomorrow.

However last time I weighed myself nearly a year ago I was 94kg (14st 11) and I know that I have gained since then.

I started gaining weight the beginning of covid, before 2019 my very highest weight had been 68kg ( 10st10) and my normal weight had been round 62kg for most of my adult life, so I have massively put on weight over these last four years. (Separation, depression, stress at work, and just general giving up).

My body is ruined by stretch-marks and my boobs that used to be great are now just swollen and saggy and stretch marked.

I'm really depressed by my weight and have decided its time to do something about it.

I have an office job and I'm not at all active.

I've tried to start making small changes, walking to the underground instead of getting the bus, getting the stairs up the one flight to my office instead of the lift but everything feels like a struggle and I have such awful thigh chaffing that walking is often excruciatingly painful.

I how I need to make a change because on top of it being so unhealthy being so over weight just makes me so upset. I've stopped going out as much and have just retreated into a shell.

I also have an appointment with a psychologist tomorrow.

I decided last month that enough is enough and I need to do something about it all.

I've started using face cream, and am finally having laser on my very very hairy thighs and - the point of this thread - I'm going to start saxenda tomorrow.

I thought I'd journal here.

@Radish12 As we say in French "Bon courage" have courage with your plateau and I'm sure the scales will move soon. I know it's real struggle for me when they aren't moving... but hang on in there! Happy to hear you've managed to get hold of more pens.

@BinnityBoo Well done for taking pics - I'm not quite there yet after the horrible pictures I took earlier in this thread... but thats great, well done on changing "category" too - I have about another 4 kilos to loose before I'm no longer obese and I can't wait, I think it'll be a major click in my head too.

@CiderJabs I hope it's a holiday that creates happy memories - enjoy!

@Glorfindels and @BinnityBoo good luck with the bridemaiding and the dresses!

@Sotiredmjmmy have you managed to order any new pens ?

@Footgoose Re walks I'm still looking I'm thinking of maybe doing a saint jacques de compostelle walk instead ... If I come to the UK I'll have higher transport costs - I'd really like to do 10 days if possible - last week of July and first week of August. I can spend a bit but the Loire is just going to be extortionate with adding Chateau entry fees and lunches and suppers ...

https://www.lapelerine.com/le-camino-del-norte-a-pied-et-en-mini-bus.html

This one is more expensive but it's 14 days all inclusive - I'll have to dip into savings though what is not something I've ever done before for something "frivolous" like a holiday - but I could "pay it back" to my savings by the end of the year if I put some of my bonuses back into my savings ... still thinking about it - I'd really like to do two weeks which I think would be a great reset - bref - as we say in French - je ne sais pas ....

@Saxendastarter you work so damn hard and do so much for others! Take the money out of your savings and definitely get something booked. I'm sensible with money also but the money will return. Life is short, go do something for yourself 🙌🏻❤️

Sotiredmjmmy · 15/06/2023 23:02

@Saxendastarter Yes thank you! Was capped at 3 pens but I’ll take what I can get and am relieved as feel that I need to up dose soon and had been holding off doing so

Your summer plans sound ace, always good to do something for yourself

And of course there is an error in my table! Because 96.8 - 8.8 is 88 not 88.1 .... Pff I'll fix it later. Need more coffee right now!

OP posts:
Saxendastarter · 16/06/2023 07:37

I've asked MN to get rid of the first table with the mistake - here is the correct one. (Hangs head in shame at failing at simple maths and logic)

I'm starting saxenda this week.

Hi All

OP your stats are so inspiring! I have been really focused on sticking with higher protein / low UPF food and the scales are shifting so I'm not actually far off your starting weight - the thought that saxenda might then be able to help me drop below 90kg for the first time in almost 2 decades is very motivating 😊💪🏼.
Still not taken my first jab as have GP appt on Monday to see if I can get the referral to weight management and if I lose anymore weight my BMI won't meet the criteria - needs to be 35 or above and it's now just under (a large breakfast and wearing jeans will bring me back up to 35). First time in my life I've not wanted the scales to be lower!
If he refuses to refer me and insists on prescribing orlistat instead - which I am just not interested in having been offered it before - I'll just have to stick with private scripts and join the race for supplies with everyone else.

I really love this thread, you're all so supportive and I do so enjoy reading everyone's updates and glimpses into your lives.

Saxendastarter · 16/06/2023 12:13

@Everdecreasingcircumferences Well done! I hope your doctor agrees and prescribes for you. Good luck.

Fuck fuck fuck fuckity fuckity fuck ... I've called 5 different pharmacies here with my new prescription - none of them have any Saxenda and can't order till the second week of July - got someone at the central pharmacy at the hospital to have a look and they also have a block on ordering till July 15th - I tried my online source but they are also out and don't know when it will be in stock. I have 3 pens and a bit left ... I'm at the full dose so I'm going to be out before I can get more. I have 20 days left at this rate. I will see If I can titrate my dose down to 1.8 and that would get me just to mid July with the amount I have left...

Hi everyone - just checking in 👋
Nearly at the end of week 2 and I've lost 7lbs. I can see that I've 'shrunk' a bit.
Weirdly, I don't feel as though my appetite has reduced by much; I'm having my three meals a day as usual and enjoying them.
Seem to have become alcohol intolerant though.
Bit of constipation but I'm taking fibrogel to mitigate.

Saxendastarter · 16/06/2023 12:50

@BeagleMum1 thats a great loss in two weeks! Are you happy being alcohol intolerant ?

So I've gone and done it - I've paid the deposit for a two week walk from pays Basque to Saint Jacques de Compostelle. The group will only be confirmed if two more people sign up - but fingers crossed ... it's happening! So excited. Slightly giddy to have spent so much as well... very unusual for me. So if worse comes to worse I'll be out of Saxenda but walking and eating in a group every day.... so it shouldn't be too bad ... finally this is the one I've booked

@Saxendastarter Well done on your loss this week. I have everything crossed you can get a supply soon.

@CiderJabs Congratulations! Have a lovely holiday.

@BinnityBoo Well done on the loss. You are absolutely right about how beautiful the UK is. We are not all that far away in North Staffordshire & I have been out walking early this morning, and it was stunning. I should have taken some photos.

@Radish12 It is funny about the dresses- I have had to laugh at myself! Fingers crossed you get a loss this week. I went through the same process with ASDA, the ID, selfie & a photo of the weight on the scales and my feet.

Hope everyone else has a good weekend.

Glorfindels · 16/06/2023 13:11

Friday weigh in-

Start weight: 129.7kg
Today's weight: 114.75kg
Weekly loss: 1.37kg
Total loss:14.52kg

So just over 3llbs this week. Pleased with that, looking next week to get into the next stone bracket & possibly 2.5 stone total loss.

Went walking with my friend this morning, she asked if I had lost weight as she had not seen me for a couple of week. I confided in her that I was making an effort, but not that I was taking Saxenda. She is lovely and supportive, which is nice.

Everdecreasingcircumferences · 16/06/2023 13:16

The walking holiday sounds amazing!
Supply issues are a real worry aren't they- now that something is working you just don't want to lose access to it.

Well done on all the losses, it's great to see it's really working well.
I realised I must have shrunk a bit yesterday as although I look the same in the mirror I kept having to pull my knickers up when I walked out to meet a friend for a drink. Perhaps it's all fallen off my bum? 😂

Saxendastarter · 16/06/2023 13:50

Pff I always have issues concentrating at work on Friday afternoons - I have a late zoom with Canada and am just dreading it ....

@Glorfindels What an amazing loss! Well done. Can you feel it when you walk yet ? I definitely feel lighter on my knees already and I've lost about half what you have. Please do share some photos of your walks if you can.

OP posts:
Sotiredmjmmy · 16/06/2023 14:14

On the supply issues I think checking back every day is only option at mo, and ordering as and when can. I managed to order yesterday and has been sent next day and arrived in 24 hrs (and not cold due to weather here!) but now today saying out of stock again. Lots of the uk pharmacies are saying July too.

So hate to say it @Everdecreasingcircumferences but its same issue wherever your prescription comes from as it’s the same pharmacies to dispense it, the pharmacies don’t prioritise NHS prescriptions. If there is an actual stock shortage rather than just private prescriptoons being limited, the pharmacy either have stock when they come to fill a prescription or they don’t. There was a nurse on another post recently commenting that the NHS has no saxenda stock directly at mo either (which would only be if had a hospital prescription anyway I think).

Everdecreasingcircumferences · 16/06/2023 14:48

I thought that but my MIL hasn't had any issues getting her prescription and there's been so much talk about the online pharmacies not taking on new patients / being out of stock due to a crack down. MiL gets hers through a small local pharmacy not Boots or Super Drug etc who offer saxenda through their online private prescription service, so maybe they've been able to get a steady supply so far?

Footgoose · 16/06/2023 18:06

@Saxendastarter . I bloody love how you grasp every opportunity. I haven’t even had the chance to look at all your walking options . When the sun goes in this evening I’ll have a look. If you make it to the UK another year , as another poster said ( @BinnityBoo was it you there are many fantastic walks in UK , the Lake District is stunning and in my opinion the best ) i certainly would look to put you up , I’m slightly south of Yorkshire , also great for walking .

Saxendastarter · 16/06/2023 23:13

Day 55

Breakfast
Black Coffee
Water

Lunch :

Water

Coffee

Grilled chicken salad with lettuce, cucumber, dill, mint, chives and Feta with fresh grated horseradish.

Snack ;
Coke zero
2 Lemon vodka biscuits
1 chocolate biscuit

Supper:
3 hard boiled eggs and butter

water Squash

bit worried - I went back to 2.4 because I’m totally fucked for supply and I was hungry all day and just wanted to pick and pick

I’ve been walking in snowdonia before ( most beautiful place in the world for me with a part of Brittany I love) and I did a walk from Bath to Wells but I haven’t been to the Lake District yet but it’s defintly on my « list »

Joining you all if that’s okay. I started Saxenda on Tuesday. BMI currently around 31.5, first aim is to get below 30.

Noticed very little difference the first couple
of days; then suddenly, last night I found I couldn’t finish my dinner (a large portion, but one I would have had before) and didn’t want anything afterwards before bed, which is very unusual for me. So a little bit heartened by that.

How long did it take to kick in for you all? Is it unusual to not have much of an effect for the first few days?

Hi 👋. The jab began working almost immediately for me. Watch out for constipation. Good luck 😊

Footgoose · 17/06/2023 19:57

Hi @upanddownandupanddown , welcome .
I can’t remember if it was a gradual start or straight away . I remember the first feeling of not being able to finish a meal comfortably. It was bloody marvellous 🤩. I find each time I up the dose I struggle to eat anything for a day or so but the feeling eases . I’m on a full dose of 3 now and almost never feel hungry. My interest in alcohol has also greatly diminished.
and yes to the constipation. Be prepared . I’m having prunes daily but it’s still a thing.

Saxendastarter · 17/06/2023 22:41

Welcome @upanddownandupanddown ! It took a couple of days to kick in for me and I was exhausted and a bit out of it at first but it did get better. I hope you’ll keep it posted on how things are going for you.
