I'm 33.

I'm 1m68 (5ft6)

I don't actually know what I weight and I got rid of my scales last year when getting on them just made me cry every time and I was just too depressed to even try and start loosing weight - I have ordered scales and will weight myself tomorrow.

However last time I weighed myself nearly a year ago I was 94kg (14st 11) and I know that I have gained since then.

I started gaining weight the beginning of covid, before 2019 my very highest weight had been 68kg ( 10st10) and my normal weight had been round 62kg for most of my adult life, so I have massively put on weight over these last four years. (Separation, depression, stress at work, and just general giving up).

My body is ruined by stretch-marks and my boobs that used to be great are now just swollen and saggy and stretch marked.

I'm really depressed by my weight and have decided its time to do something about it.

I have an office job and I'm not at all active.

I've tried to start making small changes, walking to the underground instead of getting the bus, getting the stairs up the one flight to my office instead of the lift but everything feels like a struggle and I have such awful thigh chaffing that walking is often excruciatingly painful.

I how I need to make a change because on top of it being so unhealthy being so over weight just makes me so upset. I've stopped going out as much and have just retreated into a shell.

I also have an appointment with a psychologist tomorrow.

I decided last month that enough is enough and I need to do something about it all.

I've started using face cream, and am finally having laser on my very very hairy thighs and - the point of this thread - I'm going to start saxenda tomorrow.

I thought I'd journal here.

I've just put all of the weeks until Aus into my phone, so I'm on week 8 out of 33 until I go away! I've been using this weight tracker app. When I look at the bigger picture it makes me feel slightly less disgruntled at the maintaining weeks.

Weirdly though, I weighed myself this morning a few times and each time I had a different reading ranging from 12st9.2lbs to 12st 7.6lbs. So I'm absolutely baffled and think my scales may be inaccurate 🙄

I'm going to buy a tape measure this weekend because I still have my measurements from my heaviest (90kg/14 stone) last year in my phone, so it will be interesting to compare.

Running is going well, I did both of my runs last week and really enjoyed them both with no shin splint pain! Swimming on the agenda tonight and I'm really looking forward to it, as currently sat at my desk with a fan blasting at me because it's so hot!

I went out with two of my best friends a few months ago at my heaviest weight and she took a full length picture of us, I politely asked her not to post it because I hate it and this week she uploaded it to facebook as her cover photo (this is why I never get in pics!)🙄😒I sent it to her, saying something along the lines of, 'I really don't like this photo, I hope I've lost weight since this!' and she replied saying 'I don't mean this in a bad way but you definitely have!' so kind of a good thing, but she hasn't taken it down despite my saying. So still feeling pretty uncomfortable about it but nevermind.

I'm starting saxenda this week.

That's a great loss @BinnityBoo and you still have plenty of time!

I have the Renpho scales and they are fabulous (and cheap)- they also track body fat / bmi etc- definitely recommend.

Saxendastarter · 13/06/2023 12:54

Thanks @BinnityBoo and @CiderJabs. I phoned FPOTM this morning and had a whinge … he reminded me that I run this body ( well I’m a long way from running .. but still) and … I finally did it just back from a swim in my lunch break. I did 1.2km slowly with a float, so legs only because I was feeling clumsy with my arms. Took 58 minutes. No one stared, no one was mean, the pool has natural light and it felt great.

@Saxendastarter so happy that you got a swim in.

Well done to everyone on the losses.

Had a hectic couple of weeks- so just catching up today.

I managed to order 5 pens from ASDA last week, but still haven't had notification if they have been shipped- which is slightly concerning. I have one full pen left.

As I still haven't told anyone about taking the saxenda, it has bitten me on the arse this week and I have got myself into a pickle over a Bridesmaid dress- I have had to order myself a spare one a smaller size- in secret. Yes- Ridiculous I know!

Keep it up everyone.

Pineapplepansy · 13/06/2023 17:31

@Glorfindels I'm finding I'm having to be quite secretive about things. Me and my husband went for lunch today and I didn't want anything to eat so I pretended I'd made myself a sandwich whilst he was taking the dog for a walk. So he had his lunch and I had a few olives.

justsaxy · 13/06/2023 19:27

@Saxendastarter well done for getting a swim. I have the same mental block with exercising in public, it's crazy the things that we do to sabotage ourselves, but swimming is my comfort zone. Am there weekly. Once I am in the water, I am a fish and I try not to think about what I look like in a swimming costume.

I swim a lot in the lake too, which helps as I go for sunrise. (See picture).

Have started walking after my op. Did 6 k yesterday so today has been mostly lounging around and reading. Have been resisting all snacks in an attempt to getting used to not eating much. (4 weeks to my appointment!)

I'm starting saxenda this week.

Hope everyones week is going well, having this board here is really helping me stick to things. A Saxenda sisterhood. By the way I saw an interesting article about Saxenda/Ozempic and anesthetic protocols saying you need to fast longer before planned surgery because the stomach empties mush more slowly. Good to know just in case.

@Saxendastarter woohoo, well done on the swim 😊that's amazing. Interesting articles, thanks for sharing. A saxenda sisterhood! I love that 😊

@justsaxy wow beautiful pictures! Where are you in the world? (If you don't mind sharing). I wish I had a lake nearby to swim in! The outdoor pool will have to do for me 😄

@Glorfindels I'm in the exact same spot RE bridesmaid dresses and I'm actually getting a bit nervous about it. The wedding is the 1st of September, so another 10 or so weeks away! I had a dress fitting two weeks ago and shared my concerns but she urged me to keep the dress I had (which already feels a bit loose and I personally think doesn't fit well around the bust!). I suggested that I could take it somewhere to be altered closer to the time, but don't know how easy that will be. I'm almost at 1st loss in 8 weeks and hoping to be close to another one by the wedding!

I ended up in a mad rush this morning, went for a run, early dog walk, had to take him to the vets, pick some stuff up from the shop and then jet off to work - in all the rushing around, I realised on the way to work I've forgotten to inject this morning (queue shouting lot's of unsavory words at myself in the car!), but to be honest I'm not feeling too hungry so far. Hope I'm not starving tonight though. I don't want to inject when I get home so as to mess up my morning schedule, I guess I'll just have to miss a day.

New low on the scales this morning, 12st 6.8lbs / 79.2kg and only half way through the week! Touching distance to my first 1st off!

After a couple of demoralizing maintenance weeks, the hard work has paid off because everything seems to be moving again and I'm feeling really good 🤗

Glorfindels · 14/06/2023 14:28

@justsaxy Wow, that sunrise is stunning. DP and I were talking this week about how much we loved Switzerland. We had a summer holiday based in Geneva a few years ago and had a great time.

@BinnityBoo I'm glad it's not just me RE: the Bridesmaid dress. I'm sure a good seamstress would be able to alter it. In one respect I'm a bit of an idiot- But the wedding isn't until next spring, so I am hoping to lose at least another few stone. I thought I could Ebay the spare one. Well done on the loss.

@Saxendastarter I like the idea of a Saxenda Sisterhood too. I have really appreciated the support.

Relief today- 5 pens arrived from ASDA (still cold!) but looking on the website they are now out of stock. As well as massive demand- I wonder if this could have anything to do with Wegovy becoming available soon and them expecting people to switch.

Saxendastarter · 14/06/2023 20:21

Day 55

Breakfast
Black Coffee
Sugar free Squash
Overnight oats

Lunch :
Café glacé
Water
Squash

Supper:
Sugar free squash
Grilled chicken salad with lettuce, tomato, cucumber, red onion, peppers, dill, mint, chives and a lemon kiri and yogurt sauce with fresh grated horseradish.
2 chocolates

Went for another swim at lunch today but only managed to swim 1km. My weight has finally dropped again after my graph spiking up and down. If I maintain until Friday I'll have lost 800g this week so 1.7lbs.

@Glorfindels happy you got your pens.

I have a bit of a crazy idea ... I have a week annual leave this summer at the end of July when FPOTM will not be on holiday. I'm thinking about doing a little walking holiday on my own. I've never travelled on my own ( a part from for work) before. I was thinking of walking a bit of the loire. I think it would do me good, head wise and body wise, but I'm still to scared to book. I've found an offer from Chinon to Ambroise and they transfer your bags for you.

I would see
Azay le Rideau
Villandry
Tours
Chenonceux (I'd probably not visit this chateau as I was there last year)
Amboise

Day one 10 miles
Day two 8.2 miles
Day three 13.2 miles
Day four 13.3 miles

Should I do it ? .... I'm not sure!

I'm starting saxenda this week.

Glad your pens arrived from Asda - I went to reorder after getting an email the day before from them prompting me to, only to find their entire weight loss service has now been frozen, have messaged them and they can’t take any orders for any weight loss meds, not just saxenda. They are saying it’s temporary and it’s a case of they are not able to dispense, so tallies will the rumours that the online pharmacies are being investigated at the mo and not just due to no stock - going to have to eek it out and stay on lower dose for longer so I don’t run out and hope they can restart orders soon! They told me to check back daily

Footgoose · 15/06/2023 08:06

I have a crazier idea @Saxendastarter . We should all join you on your walk. 😁

Saxendastarter · 15/06/2023 08:09

@Footgoose given that I’ve just gotten the quote with the supplement for single room included - I’d be open to that ;-). It’s ludicrously expensive 1700euros just for the accommodation for 6 nights and the bag transfer … im going to see if I can find other cheaper itineraries … also open to UK walks if anyone has anything to suggest.

Morning everyone. I’m reading and loving this thread everyday . It really does feel like a sisterhood . The pictures, the progress, up and downs , little insights to your lives is keeping me going . Thank you .

CiderJabs · 15/06/2023 08:23

@Saxendastarter you should do it!!!

Also think a uk walk is a much better idea!
Plus some of us might even have a spare room!!

Well. I haven't eaten a lot for the last couple of days. 1.2 dose seems to be good for me and no side effects - apart from being constipated. So my weight hasn't gone down and it can only be because I'm - literally - full of shit 😂

Off on holiday tomorrow with my new man. He knows I'm on the jab so I don't need to worry about hiding it. So won't step on the scales until next week. Trying not to let that worry me and trust the jab.

BinnityBoo · 15/06/2023 10:01

@Saxendastarter you should absolutely do it!!! Looking forward to following you along and seeing all of the pictures. I love the peak district in the UK, lots of beautiful walks there, little hidden book shops, cafes and quite central. Or the lake district! I'm in Cheshire (A geordie but I moved here 10 years ago), and I've got lots of beautiful walking spots around me. It's not until I really think about it, I realise the UK is actually quite beautiful despite how much I'm desperate to get away from the place most of the time 😂

@CiderJabs literally full of shit made me chuckle 😂enjoy your holiday with your new man wherever you're going.. first holiday together is always fun 😄

Took some updated body pictures this morning and I'm bowled over at the difference. I'm starting to see/feel it physically now too when I look in the mirror. I don't feel as uncomfortable.

Another 0.8lbs down on the scale this morning, bringing the loss this week to 1.8lbs so far. I've gone from Obese to Overweight BMI range too. Thanks to the heat this week, I've been eating mostly salads and drinking loads of water (about 3L), so have been eating relatively low carb which I think has made a difference.

I suffer terribly with SAD's so the sun and the beautiful light mornings and evenings have me feeling on top of the world this week.

@Footgoose Totally second everything you're saying.. It's so nice having this thread, it keeps me going too! Our Saxenda Sisterhood 🤗

Radish12 · 15/06/2023 19:29

Hello all! Enjoy your holiday @CiderJabs !

That's so funny about the bridesmaid dresses and having to secretly buy an extra one - the quandaries we get ourselves into!

The scales aren't really moving for me this week, but I still have a couple of days to Saturday (weigh day). I guess the key is not throwing my toys out of the pram if I don't get a loss one week, but being persistent and trusting the process.

I've ordered another five pens from Boots, so fingers crossed they actually arrive. I was honest about my weight and it calculated a BMI of 29.1 so I hope that's enough. I had to submit a selfie again (had to do that when I first registered but not when I ordered my last lot of pens), plus send a picture of some ID showing my name?! Not really sure what all that was about, possibly to do with the "cracking down" on online pharmacies?

Praise the Lord
