I'm 33.

I'm 1m68 (5ft6)

I don't actually know what I weight and I got rid of my scales last year when getting on them just made me cry every time and I was just too depressed to even try and start loosing weight - I have ordered scales and will weight myself tomorrow.

However last time I weighed myself nearly a year ago I was 94kg (14st 11) and I know that I have gained since then.

I started gaining weight the beginning of covid, before 2019 my very highest weight had been 68kg ( 10st10) and my normal weight had been round 62kg for most of my adult life, so I have massively put on weight over these last four years. (Separation, depression, stress at work, and just general giving up).

My body is ruined by stretch-marks and my boobs that used to be great are now just swollen and saggy and stretch marked.

I'm really depressed by my weight and have decided its time to do something about it.

I have an office job and I'm not at all active.

I've tried to start making small changes, walking to the underground instead of getting the bus, getting the stairs up the one flight to my office instead of the lift but everything feels like a struggle and I have such awful thigh chaffing that walking is often excruciatingly painful.

I how I need to make a change because on top of it being so unhealthy being so over weight just makes me so upset. I've stopped going out as much and have just retreated into a shell.

I also have an appointment with a psychologist tomorrow.

I decided last month that enough is enough and I need to do something about it all.

I've started using face cream, and am finally having laser on my very very hairy thighs and - the point of this thread - I'm going to start saxenda tomorrow.

I thought I'd journal here.

Really struggling again today. Not hungry but craving food. I’m on 2.4. Still at 90.4kg this morning. So demoralised.

Try not to be despondent! Weighing in every day won't help - I try to hold off and do it no more than twice a week.

Sometimes when I have cravings like that a fizzy drink helps, the bubbles seem to fill you up and the sweetness satisfies my sweet tooth.

I went back onto 0.6 on Monday after my week off and it does seem to be working again after the break thank goodness. I do still have slight rumbly hunger but not the jittery must-eat-now kind, and less of the 'chatter'. I might give it another couple of days (five in total) before I move up to 1.2.

I've just downloaded the Nutracheck app (7 day free trial) after getting fed up of My Fitness Pal's ads and general clunkiness. Does anyone else use it? It's £35 p/a after the trial which is a lot less than I was paying Slimming World until recently, and a drop in the ocean compared to the cost of the Saxenda, let's face it! Basically I want to keep a better eye on my calories in/out rather than just eating smaller potions and hoping for the best.

So far today I've had a banana and three cups of coffee, and I have a broccoli, pea, feta and quinoa traybake for lunch which I thought was pretty healthy but actually seems quite calorific, so I won't force down every last morsel if I'm feeling satisfied. I am going out for an Indian tonight though and not being great with heat I'll be having a creamy one!

Nevertheless, the new month has me feeling motivated - happy June everyone 😄

Tarragon123 · 01/06/2023 13:19

Hello folks, I had a wee break from Saxenda and started back yesterday. My indigestion is so bad, I ended up vomitting at 3am. I know I need to see my GP, but I keep forgetting to phone at 8.30! Next week, I think.

I'm still 5lbs down so happy with that.

Saxendastarter · 01/06/2023 13:34

Thanks @Radish12 ! I'm trying - had gazpacho and fizzy water for lunch - no bread so thats a good start. I know I shouldn't but I can't resist weighing every day... I can't stand myfitnesspal but use Myweight thats free but I don't think it calorie counts. Enjoy your Indian!

@Tarragon123 Welcome back! That sucks for the nausea hope it gets better soon. Did your GP prescribe for you ? Sorry I can't remember. 5lbs is good going. Onwards and downwards.

I started saxenda a little over two weeks ago but have been focusing on my diet for the past three weeks. So far I've lost 10lb in that time frame.

I have a lot to lose- my aim is to lose 57kg over the next few years and to get myself to a healthier weight.

I'm using the medication as a tool rather than fully focusing on it being the miracle cure.

Hope everyone's having a nice day and good to join you all

ThisMustBeMyDream · 01/06/2023 15:04

@Saxendastarter don't worry about the scales. They can be out frequently. I managed to be from 15st 13 to 16st 2.5 this morning. I weighed in several places around the bathroom (all within a meter square!). Fucking floors. Dodgy as. I settled eventually on 16st 1 as it was the most frequent!

Glorfindels · 01/06/2023 16:24

@Saxendastarter Sorry to hear you are struggling, have you thought about upping your dose a few clicks, to see if that subdues the cravings. Work stress could be messing things up for you a bit too. I hope your Director is keeping negotiations open, 6mths severance at executive level would be considered a minimum-and open for discussion.

@Radish12 Don't be despondent, weight loss is never a direct linear route, it twists, turns and meanders all over the place. You are doing really well.

@ThisMustBeMyDream Glad I'm not the only one with temperamental scales, our dodgy tiled bathroom floor means I have a specific one to stand on to get the same results.

@Tarragon123 The nausea sucks, hope you are feeling better.

Had lovely time in the spa, luckily it was quiet as I felt a horrific sight in my cossie- I won't be swimming any time soon. The meal we had wasn't really worth the calories, but I had restricted all day hoping for something nice, and was hungry.

I'm not expecting any loss this week, but on a positive I have been doing a measurements tracker and in the last month I have lost 3cm off my chest & 6cm from my waist.

Sending best wishes to everyone on the thread.

Saxendastarter · 01/06/2023 21:50

@Fuffedoff Welcome! I think you're very right about Saxenda being a tool. I'm finding this thread really helps and I hope you will too... It's a long journey and will be for me too ... I have slightly less to loose but still 30kg so it's going to be a long marathon for me too - but a couple of years on the scale of a lifetime is nothing!

@ThisMustBeMyDream Thanks! How are you getting on with everything else? Is your skin still clearing ?

@Glorfindels you're right, I'm going to up the dose a little tomorrow, gurglingly because of the cost ... but still.

Day 43

Lunch :
Sugar free Squash
Gaspacho
Coffee

Snack:
2 beef and cheese yakitori

Supper:

Morning,

Yesterday we went out for dinner but kind of ate two dinners which I felt guilty about. I had a chicken wrap from McDs, then we went to a restaurant where I had butter chicken curry and some roti bread however, the portions were quite small. So overall not too bad.

I weighed this morning, another 0.5kg off which is unexpected.

Here is what I'm doing:

  • Saxenda at 3-4pm each day.
  • 16:8 fasting in-between.
  • Recently started Metformin for PCOS.
  • Restricting calories to approx 1500-1600.
  • Trying to drink more water/cordial.
  • Cut back on snacks. (Big one for me)
  • Eating 2-3 regular meals a day, including breakfast.

I can't think of anything to change other then more exercise but I want to build that up slowly.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Saxendastarter · 02/06/2023 10:58

Hi @Fuffedoff Seems like you have a good plan! Keep us posted on how it goes, have you thought of stocking up on low calorie snacks just in case you really want something so you don't reach for what ever is convenient and not best calorie/health wise?

OP posts:
Radish12 · 02/06/2023 11:07

Morning @Fuffedoff - I went for the butter chicken last night too, fortunately it wasn't the nicest I've ever had so I only ate about half. The poppadoms and Peshwari naan went down well though!

I hopped on the scales this morning after specifically telling @Saxendastarter not to 😆and I'm about 4lbs down on last weekend's post-holiday weigh-in. Official weigh day is Saturday so I'll update tomorrow.

Chatting with a friend last night and she has been put on BP medication following her 40th birthday health check thing. I absolutely sailed through mine last year - I'd been dreading it as I was so overweight, I was expecting to be pre-diabetic with all the sugar I was eating, etc. but the nurse was over the moon with me. Anyway, because of my friend I dug my BP monitor out and am coming up "high normal", so I've added BP and pulse rate to my weight spreadsheet as an extra thing to monitor 😂

Almost forgot to take my Sax last night as I'd been out to the theatre and was dozing off when I remembered, am proud of myself for getting out of bed at 12.30 to do it. I'm feeling really quite hungry already though so it might be time to up my dose. Off to make a peppermint tea to tide me over til lunch...

Hi everyone. Been an emotional week for my family . This thread has been a good little life line . We all having our ups and downs , and yet the trend seems to be a loss in weight for all of us which is great.

My own weight loss has slowed but that to be expected. I’ve lost a full stone in 3 weeks and 1 day . Saxander has more the exceeded my expectations . With one very minor slip up on Wednesday I’ve stayed on track with an average of 900 cals a day . Little alcohol and virtually no sugar . The sugar thing is very unusual , I’ve never managed to have a sugar free diet.

It was my brother in laws funeral this week and that was the day of the blips ( wine and Battenberg cake ) . It was an unbelievably sad day . He was much loved by us all . Over 400 people attended the funeral and most came back to the hotel after too . Part of his journey to the crematorium was lined by people from his local pub who raised a glass to him as we passed , the pub then live streamed the service so people who didn’t want to stand outside the crematorium could sit and watch with a pint ( he would have liked that ) . Other things took place to remember him , a couple of tugs went out to where his body was recovered from the sea and did donuts and spayed the water jets, he would have liked that too! Earlier in the week, a walk was arranged in his memory and 149 people turned up. He will be so missed . Hope you didn’t mind me writing all that . Not diet related . Just wanted to tell you .

Radish12 · 02/06/2023 15:40

That has made me teary @Footgoose What a lovely send-off, he must have been very well loved.

Saxendastarter · 02/06/2023 15:42

@Footgoose honored that you’ve shared with us. It is so lovely when people manage to celebrate death with life as the departed enjoyed. Well done for staying so on track despite the difficult circumstances. All my thoughts.

Saxendastarter · 02/06/2023 22:40

Day 44

Breakfast
Black coffee
Water
Sugar free Squash

Lunch :
Water
Grilled chicken on it's own
Fromage blanc with walnuts and maple syrup

Snack:
1 brown sugar bubble tea ( Bad I know)
1 peach bubble tea ( double bad)

Supper:
Water
A gulp of white wine
A madeleine
A big slice of tomato and ricotta tart from the freezer

And miracle - I didn't like the taste of the wine - I know which wine it is because I get my wine by the case and so I know it's not that the wine was bad... I upped to 3mg this morning - maybe - fingers crossed - at this dose I'll not like wine so much!

Namechange602 · 03/06/2023 10:33

BinnityBoo · 03/06/2023 11:12

Hi all 😊

Sincere condolences @Footgoose, what an awful thing to go through. What a great turn out for the funeral though, he was clearly a very loved man. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Hi @Fuffedoff ! I'm also on Metformin for PCOS, good luck on your journey!

I've maintained again this week. The scales keep going up and down between 12st 9.2lbs to 12st 8.4lbs. Bored and fed up of seeing those numbers on the scales now 😒😂

I've got a really busy weekend this weekend, I went out with a really good friend last night and got quite drunk, but had a blast and don't feel any worse for wear than pre saxenda. I also wore an old pair of jeans that I've not been able to get into and felt quite confident, so a non-scale victory 😊 going to a bridal dress fitting (not mine!) accompanied by high tea and then I've got a 50th birthday afternoon tea tomorrow. Planning on enjoying the food but not scoffing my face and ending up feeling uncomfortable as I usually did before saxenda!

I dropped my dose back to 0.6 yesterday because I've been suffering with a bit of constipation and nausea and didn't really want it to put a dampner on my weekend. It's definitely helped because I've been to the toilet 5 times already and it's 11am and passed A LOT of poop 😂 I feel as light as a feather! 🤣 sorry for the TMI

I think I'm going to do 0.6 until Monday and then go back up to 1.2 again. Maybe it will get things moving.

I've also bought a good pair of running shoes and some strap-your-tits-down type of sports bras! 😂 And I'm going to try and get back into running. I really enjoyed it when I did it in lockdown, but suffer terribly with shin splints so wish me luck!

Just about to wander into town, have a mooch around the charity shops and buy a couple of new books.

Have a lovely day everyone 🌞 x

Radish12 · 03/06/2023 13:10

Good morning afternoon all!

Pleased to report a 5lb loss this morning following my 5.5lb gain on holiday. I'm now 15:1 exactly - hoping this is the last time I ever see a 15 on the scales. I've not put my stats up yet so here goes:

Age: 41
Height: 5'11"
Start weight: 15st 12.5lb // BMI: 31.1
Current weight: 15st 1lb // BMI: 29.5
First goal (healthy BMI): 12st 11lb // BMI: 25
Weeks on Saxenda: 10
Loss so far: 11.5lbs
Current dose: 1.2

32lbs to go to get to that healthy BMI - that's actually more than I thought! 😩

Good luck with the running @BinnityBoo , I went out and did the 5k parkrun this morning at a run/walk. I used to do a couple of half marathons a year but stopped completely over the pandemic and have yet to be consistent enough to build it back up - the extra weight doesn't help either. Still the more we do, the easier it'll become no?

Have a good weekend all, I'm off to try and tidy the garden up.

Namechange602 · 03/06/2023 14:01

It's so good to see everyone's progress and so encouraging on days when I think the scales hate me!

Today, I was 16st 13.75lbs and I'm chuffed to bits. Total loss of 1st 8.25lbs since starting at the end of March. I hope it's the last time I see a 17 on the scale but realistically, it will go up and down a bit probably over the next few days and this evening is homemade pizza and wine so....

I've had to up my dose to 1.2 plus 5 clicks because I was getting peckish late afternoon which is always dangerous. Hopefully I can stay on that for a bit longer but if not so be it.

In terms of Non Scale Victories, my knees are less sore and a pair of trousers I bought last summer from Sahara now fit. Glad re knees as our house has just gone on the market and from the sound of things, I'm going to be running around doing dozens of viewings next week. Hope the agent's correct!
