Ozempic new starters thread

Wondering if anyone would like to join me starting Ozempic. I’m doing my first injection tonight and am very nervous about reactions/side effects. I’m 5’ and 10.5 stones with very high blood pressure which medication is struggling yo bring down, high cholesterol and arthritis.

I would like to get to 9 stones realistically and ideally 8.5. I do seem to have unusual reactions to some medication so am really hoping I can take this without too many problems as I’m sure I’d be far healthier minus a couple stones.

How to use FRIEND50 code on Juniper?
The code is for your friend’s first order. Your friend must create an account, and complete the online consultation. At checkout it's possible to add the code FRIEND50. When adding the code, your friend will get £50 off the first month with Juniper.

BigLin. I cut and pasted the refer a friend from the offer I was sent. I think it should activate if you are approved and you should get a £50 reduction off initial order

Hi everyone 👋 I’m over on the other Ozempic thread too, I started 13/04 and just about to do third 0.25 dose this evening. I need to lose about 5.5 stones to be at a healthy BMI, I started at around 16.5 stones and I’m 5’6”. I hold my weight really “well” but I’m so uncomfortable, belly is in my way. In a size 18 at the moment and need to get on top of what’s unhealthy eating, constantly horizon scanning for the next tasty morsel. Im definitely finding it’s suppressing my appetite. Much easier to have lower calorie days. No real side effects to speak of yet, a bit blocked up.

Everyone sounds to be doing well . I'm getting to end of second week but have been far hungrier than I was last which is annoying. Second weigh in tomorrow.

BigLin I have a code. I don't think juniper is just for women. I think Manual looks like it's for men but it isn't, so hopefully juniper will be fine. Let me go see what I need to do with this code

Good luck for your weigh in tomorrow.

MedievalMadness · 27/04/2023 22:15

Franklin2000. Thanks. I don’t feel I’ve lost anything but I shall soon see if I’m right.

LemonPledge555. Good look with 3rd injection. I hope you stay side effect free. For me that is the main thing I was most worried about. So far so good. I hope this helps you reach your target .

I have been eating shit all week. What the hell is that about??? I want to tap my tummy like a microphone and ask “Is this thing on???”

For me it didn’t always take away my cravings to snack so I had to use quite a bit of willpower to stop myself. It’s helped me al meal times and not eating as much.

Franklin2000 · 28/04/2023 07:23

I’ve also eaten quite healthily to give it to maximum chance of working but yesterday I had some Brie for lunch. It did not go down well, my stomach was churning and I felt sick all night. I took my second jab as normal but lesson learned. Brie must be a hard no 😂. I also made myself bleed taking to second jab and pricked my fingers twice disposing of the needle, so it’s a very good job I’m not a nurse.

MedievalMadness · 28/04/2023 08:11

Fraances, Franklin2000. I feel I could easily eat far more than I am doing this week (2nd). Last week I was hardly hungry at all. I’m going out for an Indian meal tonight so I’m going to stick to protein and minimum carbs and hope for the best. I had some of my friends chocolate yesterday and could have wolfed the whole bar but yes, willpower seems to come easier when you’re determined (and forking out vast sums of money each month)

OP posts:
LemonPledge555 · 28/04/2023 08:53

@MedievalMadness willpower does seem to come to me a bit easier now 😂

That’s me just weighed, lost another 1.4kg so -2.8kg total, just over 6lbs. Pretty chuffed with myself!

MedievalMadness · 28/04/2023 10:40

LemonPledge555. That’s a brilliant result. I’ve just done my second weigh- in and am now 138.6. Last weeks was 140.4 so I’m absolutely thrilled. I’m in the 9sts which I’ve not seen for as long as I can remember and lost 4 kgs overall. I’m going to take my BP soon and see if that’s any lower as it’s been so difficult to control it despite being on the max dose of 4 drugs for it. I have NEVER had any result vaguely like this after years of various diets. I’ve only been for two walks and done virtually no other exercise because the arthritis in my foot has been really painful this week.

OP posts:
Franklin2000 · 28/04/2023 11:06

@MedievalMadness That’s a great result, you must be so pleased! Maybe it’s the reset your body needed, that’s how I’m starting to feel with mine.

MedievalMadness · 28/04/2023 12:07

Franklin2000. Thanks. I was over the moon. I hope it helps us all where other attempts have failed and 'rewires' our brains for when we are off it

Well after a few weeks of thinking and research I have taken the plunge and ordered today from my juniper. I think I have been on and off dieting for 20 years! I manage to lose a stone then can't lose more think I've tried every diet going. I'm highly ashamed to say my bmi is 38 so I have a long way to go! Does anybody else have an underactive thyroid? Will it still work aswell I wonder?

Cabbage4eva · 28/04/2023 13:01

Where are people getting extra needles?

MedievalMadness · 28/04/2023 17:38

whereareyousleep. I really hope Ozempic is a good thing for you. I can’t remember a time when I haven’t been trying to lose weight. I’ve had more success in two weeks with this then I’ve had after all other attempts. I would hope that underactive thyroid doesn’t impact how this works. I seem to remember there’s someone on the other current thread who mentioned they have an underactive thyroid so would be worth asking on there.

Hi 👋. I am exactly 4 weeks in and have just taken my first 0.5 dose. I am only weighing randomly as need to go to the Dr’s to weigh (too heavy for my own scales 😔). I weighed on day 18 and had lost 10lbs so really chuffed with that. I have been very lucky and had no side effects except constipation. It also worked from Day one - I’m not sure if that was a placebo or not tbh. I am averaging 1000 to 1200 calories a day and desperately trying to overhaul my diet from ready meals and takeaways to lean protein with lots of fruit and veg. I am getting there slowly! It’s great to see so many of you doing so well 😊

caringcarer · 29/04/2023 00:11

Did one month weigh in today with the nurse and I've lost 7.1kg on her scales. On my scales I've lost 7.4kg. Either way I'm pleased. I had to lose 5kg in the month for my GP to keep on prescribing Ozempic. I've seen Dietician too today and she approved my menus I had taken in to show her. I've got to eat more fruit and drink even more water.

ChiChaNaYubi · 29/04/2023 08:02

Feeling quite deflated today. It’s been a week and I’ve been eating half of what I used to and I’ve been eating really healthily and doing exercise and I’ve not lost any weight. Tbh I’m not sure I trust my old bathroom scales so as of next week I think I’m going to do a weekly weigh in at boots on their scales. I’m not giving up just yet, but it has dimmed my motivation a little.

DaisyDieter · 29/04/2023 11:13

Hi all, on day 4 of ozempic, I’m going to weigh in early tomorrow as we are going for a Sunday roast and I don’t want the heaviness to effect Mondays weigh in.

I’ve been ok, appetite has been dulled and haven’t found that need for chocolate as much as I used to. Used to use it as a crutch really.

I am having quite bad constipation though which isn’t fun. I’ll let you all know how I get on with my weigh in tomorrow :)

Fraaahnces · 29/04/2023 11:16

I am also being more accountable (despite eating the gummy sour peach hearts - a handful only - my daughter bought as an an apology for being a stroppy teenager.) Today I wasn’t hungry until dinner time. (It’s dinner time here now). I’m at work and I remembered to pack my Itaki lunchbox and I am steaming some veggies to have with some grilled lemon and garlic chicken. The little pots I cook in are about 3/4 cup each so perfect to measure amounts as well.

MedievalMadness · 29/04/2023 12:28

ChiChaNaYubi. It’s so individual how everyone reacts to the same medication. On the site I’m on it says some people will see results quickly and others will take longer. It doesn’t mean it’s not going to work for you but I can understand your disappointment especially if you are eating half your usual portion sizes. Keep going. It might well be it all evens out and those who lost weight the first week will find their loss slows down significantly further down the line. It’s uncharted territory for all of us and we are all different. Keep going.

OP posts:
Cabbage4eva · 29/04/2023 18:23

@ChiChaNaYubi I'm right there with you. 10 days in and still down only a pound. I also think I'm eating a lot less. How have your side effects been? I haven't really had much in the way of side effects so I'm hopeful that I can easily go up to the next dose and see results. And also I think if our weight loss is eventually slow and steady, it will be easier to maintain the lower weight in the event we have to go off the Ozempic. Fingers crossed for both of us!
