A bit less ravenous but nothing obvious. I don’t drink usually. I had a gin and tonic and a small glass of wine last night. I’m on 0.5 as well. I had appetite suppressants years ago from my GP and they were great but they stopped prescribing them.

Sammysees · 02/04/2023 22:11

Today I have eaten overnight oats, a banana, a small pack of chicken satay (have been out all day), then for tea I only wanted 1/2 a large sausage roll and some grapes. Tomorrow will be better as I have been shopping. Going to have salmon and asparagus for tea. If I can stop consuming my body weight in chocolate it will be a massive help! @Eatentoomanyroses - I have been burping all bloody day!! No sulphur ones yet and at least it’s not the other end 🙈

Eatentoomanyroses · 02/04/2023 22:27

I find the refluxy side effects very similar to when I was pregnant. It’s really not nice

Starsnores · 03/04/2023 08:12

I still have the burps but not as frequent. Yesterday I had porridge for breakfast, a cheese and onion sandwich for lunch and fake chicken, peppers and a baked sweet potato with cheese. I was quite hungry by that point so may have eaten a bit too quickly or too much as I had a bit of tummy ache and diarrhoea afterwards but nothing too drastic. It was definitely a lot less than I would normally eat in a day.

I have stocked up on immodium from amazon just in case. Not hungry yet this morning, just had a cup of tea so far.

thefamous5 · 03/04/2023 08:18

I took my first one on Thursday.

I'm 5ft 11, 22st and have a bmi of 44.

So far I can see a definite appetite reduction.

Breakfasts: 2 weetabix with a small banana
Lunch: sandwich
Dinners; normal, but much smaller portions

Side effects have been horrific heartburn (but I'm predisposed to it anyway so wasn't unexpected!) and a dodgy tummy (again, I get one at the drop of a hat so wasn't a surprise!)

LittleDitto · 03/04/2023 10:17

I’m so anxious about starting it. I know the results are good but the thought of the side effects everyone has is really worrying me as I’m terrible at being unwell and become very depressed. I should be receiving my first dose this week, but I’ve a few things on that I want to enjoy so I’m going to put it off for a few weeks.

I wondered though, if it becomes too much pain and discomfort wise, how soon after deciding not to continue do you feel well again?

Eatentoomanyroses · 03/04/2023 10:23

@LittleDitto you feel better within a couple of days. I was taking the highest dose tablet form and stopped it as got very sick. Felt better the next day. The injections last longer. Based on last week I found the side effects wearing off a couple of days after the injection

UsernameFail · 03/04/2023 10:32

Hi, please may I join you all.

I am on the other thread too and have only just taken my first dose this morning. It took me several days to pluck up the courage to self inject and am feeling the after effects (ie sting) more than the actual injection.

It may be psychosomatic but I have immediately become thirsty.

My starting weight is 95kg
BMI 32

I see a PT twice a week and exercise another two times per week but alongside being peri menopausal and just not shifting any weight.

Hopefully this will help.

Will check in again later

mumwheresmyribena · 03/04/2023 10:34

Other than losing weight I've had zero side-effects @LittleDitto I try to eat lowish carb, high fibre and not too much fat although I still eat cheese and have creme fraiche sauces occasionally. And although I IF I still eat 3 times a day, I just eat smaller portions and try to listen to my body and stop eating when sufficed. I don't snack - nuts and the odd Finn Crisp with cheese was an eascalating issue previously.
I've never eaten takeways or kept cakes & biscuits in the house so there's that's not new

catskittens · 03/04/2023 11:44

All very very welcome and great to see new members
well i felt quite hungry at about midnight so had some ham on crackers

feel all fine this morning and very paranoid that the injection has not worked as on saxenda i had bad nausea and with this nothing

It's interesting what others say and dont be afraid its fine only felt sick once and nothing since,no refux/burps etc

have not been too bothered eating rubbish at nigh not perfect but 70% cut down and was far more active yesterday, diy etc

have a good day everybody

omg crisps/biscuits are my downfall you are so disiplined not to have them in the house

well done you

I don't keep crisps in the house because I love them and have no off button. I'm not a biscuit or cake eater, I don't have much of sweet tooth, I find that if I avoid sweet things for a week or so I no longer want them.

summerlovingvibes · 03/04/2023 12:17

Feeling no different today to usual and gave in to a McD breakfast and hot chocolate. WHY?! All normal cravings for chocolate are there today. No weight loss so far although this morning I woke up "feeling" lighter (prior to my binge). I have probably 4 stone to lose to be at my best / healthy looking weight. Second dose will be on Thursday.

Just checking - you're all aware that the first pen (not sure about next doses as not there yet) contains more than 4 weeks worth of doses? You'll need some extra needles but should be able to get more out of it than the 4 needles given. Just checking everyone knows about this.

LittleDitto · 03/04/2023 15:54

Ok thank you so much for the reassurance! Fear of the unknown is always something I find difficult to process.

Can I ask where you get your extra needles from?

I've had a look online but struggling to find some in the UK from a reputable looking site.

summerlovingvibes · 03/04/2023 16:28

@SaltyGod I actually have some from hormone treatment that fit and work so haven't had to buy any, but on the other "main" Ozempic thread (I think on thread 4) there were a few posts from people with where they got theirs from x

caringcarer · 03/04/2023 17:34

I took my first dose last Wednesday and no side effects so far. I have BMI of 60. I was 140 kg and only 5 foot. My GP prescribed Ozempic 0.25mg for me and if it does not work I will have to have gastric surgery so determined to make it work. I've lost 2 kg already and 2 more days before second dose. I've been prescribed 3 months worth at once so keeping it all in fridge. I've found I'm not hungry all the time. I've cut right back on carbs and fat but eating protein, veg and fruit. Breakfast today fruit medley and 2 spoons of low fat Greek yogurt. Lunch today scrambled eggs X2 on 1 slice of brown bread. Chicken and peas for dinner. Slice of melon after.

caringcarer · 03/04/2023 17:35

I think I read some people got spare needles from Amazon.

catskittens · 03/04/2023 17:47

i think i can use my needles from the Saxenda i bought about 100,im of to check if they fit

thanks for the heads up and i think i have a blood test on the 22nd so should be ok

Checking in. I am on day 3 and felt a bit hungrier today but haven’t snacked between meals. Overnight oats for breakfast, a ham salad wrap and banana for lunch and I am having salmon and asparagus for tea. I don’t feel nauseous anymore but have still got the burps. I went to the doctors surgery this morning and weighed on their machine so I can have a start weight. Then cried when it was 138kg. My blood pressure has lowered though so some good news. I have some grapes in the fridge if I get peckish in the night. I’m an insomniac and seem to be always hungry when I wake in the night.

catskittens · 03/04/2023 18:08

god yes crisps everytime here

yes i weighed myself a couple of days in the reception at gp's so will go on that it was 107kg

i stopped taking my blood sugar for a few months because it was so high and couldnt get it down but have started again and although the nurse would say high it about 12 and used to be 17/18 so maybe taking this will make me more accountable

did buy some reduced strawberries today and shared with the kids but will have mine later

also the GP is concerned as i keep coming back with low white cell count but i feel ok so more blood tests soon

@catskittens take a look at the couch to fitness programme. They have the website below or a YouTube channel with a couch to fitness playlist.

9 week programme, 3 workouts a week starting easier and getting harder. They have 3 instructors in each video showing adaptations for different abilities.

I was like this before Ozempic, now I can have things in the house and just not care about them.

In week one I resealed some mccoys I opened out of habit as I really couldn't eat them. Ended up putting them on my daughters plate a week later.

Same with chocolate- my Easter egg from my parents has been sat on the fireplace for days, where as previously I'd have either eaten it straight away or hidden it.

The change in mindset is just insane.
