Reading through all the SW stuff, I sort of regret not just going back to WW, but, for me I think I need something new to guide me. With WW because I know what I'm doing I just get lazy (and fat!). Unfortunately my "leader" didn't tell me how many syns I'm allowed so I might not do very well this week!

Apparently you should, because otherwise you'll feel like you are depriving yourself, your metabolism will slow, and you'll end up find it harder to lose weight . Syns, in SW is really what they use to quantify points, so if you're doing one programme, and want three slices of bread a day, not just two, you count how many 'syns' it is. Its like the WW one on which you can eat as much fruit and veg as you like, and top up with points.

Oh great - thanks for that s&s . Yesterday I did seven so, not too bad. I feel like I have the right mind set to do it now, and it feels like a relief to be actually doing something about being overweight. Tomorrow will be tricky though as we are seeing friends for breakfast and then on to a big family celebration lunch. Buffets are my absolute downfall!

Good luck mood, give sw ago but if it stops working after 3 months change to ww. I made the mistake of carrying on for 5mths without losing any weight and now I am WW it is just falling off.

Hi all! Great to read that so many of us are doing so well. I have been extremely bad so I am really not looking forward to my weigh in tomorrow Still, I need to go so that I can get back into the plan. Will just have to plan to lose the pounds I gain quickly!!

aww lenny!

I've had a really close shave this week. I weighed myself Friday night knowing I've had an appalling week and it looked as though I had gained 1.5lbs. I corrected myself immediately for Saturday and Sunday and this morning's weigh in shows I've lost 0.5lb. I'm blardy lucky. Back to being extra vigilant this week I think. I've been slipping back into bad habits and I really dont want to put any weight back on.

On the brighter side, I've checked my BMI and I am now no longer in the "Obese" category, I am in the "Overweight" category. Hoorah!

Dont worry about it Lenny! What matters is that you can get yourself back on track this week. I am headed for a gain I am sure this evening as I have been slipping into old habits very easily during the last week. Its scary how the old eating ways creep back so readily! Have been very good today though and have, once again, started writing everything down on paper. It is the only way I can keep myself on the straight and narrow.

I have been doing this for almost three months, and my old habits came back very easily during the last week. I wonder whether you ever really break free of it, or am I destined to count points forever?!

I think it does become more natural to guestimate portions and point levels over a period of time. But, certainly for me, I kept kidding myself with "oh, it's just one bit of chocolate today" or "well it is my birthday only once a year", and "oh, well I've blown the day already anyway".

None of it is helpful! I am still better than I was though. I'm walking more, and yesterday I even refused some of MILS gorgeous homemade dundee cake !

I think that learning to not eat through boredom is the biggest thing for me. I need to get back into my card-making and jewellery making a bit more I think - it keeps your hands busy and your mind off of food

Lenny- I'm with you on being pointless. Started just guessing now have completely lost track - not even sure how many points I'm on! Need to get back on track as can see the weight begining to creep back on! I think my downfall is the dieting novelty has gone, even loads of people commenting on the change isn't getting me back into it.

So VVV/colditz and the other major losers how are you keeping interested then?

VVV - I have a few questions - I'm having an explore round the site and have put pizza in as a search - is the serving size one pizza? or one slice?

and why isn't it addign my 2 points for exercise onto my daily points allowance?

Can I join? Am doing WW on line but TBH finding it a real challenge. Have done SW successfully in the past but don't feel it is an eating plan that is sustainable 'for life'.

Am really struggling to stay motivated, mainly because a) I am a greedy cow and b) I only have a stone left to lose after putting 5 on with dd who is now 10.5mo.

Would love some support here.

Wow pink you have done so well. so that is 4st in 10mths. I have been trying for about the same time and am at 1st 10lbs, I have about another 2.5st to lose.

You have come so far you need to given yourself a kick for that last bit. You have also got to remember that you are changing your eating habits for life and not just until you lose the weight.

You guys.. are doing brilliantly.

I have done OK this week, negotiating syns. Went out for lunch with the dcs and some friends today though, and altho I didn't exactly fall off the wagon (a tuna sandwich is not my idea of falling of the wagon) only to find that the wretched thing was 26 syns fgs. You're only allowed 15 in a day.

So I had three sticks of celery for supper tonight. Boo.
