Ozempic - For those of us a few months in

Hi all, thought I would create a designated space outside of the newbie zone for those of us who are in it for the long haul and are a few doses, stone, months down the road.

@Peridot1 I think Juniper let you continue to use Ozempic into maintenance but I’m not sure how that looks in reality. Maybe it’s a gradual weaning down of the dose?

Twiglets1 · 19/03/2023 13:15

I did loads of research before ordering it. Find it odd the way some of the newer people can’t be bothered to do basic research into who supplies it, what is their criteria, how much do the different companies charge, what are the common side effects etc

Peridot1 · 19/03/2023 14:03

Possibly @CheetahCheetah. I’m certainly planning on reducing down slowly.

Athena51 · 19/03/2023 12:33

It's worrying. When I started taking it, it was relatively unknown and I had to really do my research (medical papers and the like). Now it's just "give me a code, how fast can I lose."
I've given long answers to people based on my knowledge and now pretty long term experience and not even had a thanks in response. That's just bloody rude 😕

I have seen that. I am sorry. So rude

Really lovely too see some people heading towards maintenance. I am hoping to be there by Seo-Oct but you never know. I did brave the 1mg dose today. Fingers crossed🥰

Good Luck with the 1mg dose @Lndnmummy

And your answers definitely deserved a thank you @Athena51 not many people on here have as much experience as you and it’s great that you are willing to share it.

Is anyone else starting to get loose skin? I've lost a lost very quickly- 23lbs in 7 weeks and I've got some starting on my thighs and upper arms. I know there's not much that can be done to prevent it but I'm dreading it getting worse. I'm hoping for steady losses of 1-2 lbs a week going forward which will slow it hopefully.

Peridot1 · 19/03/2023 17:21

Yes I have the dreaded loose skin @tregunamekoidestrecorumsatisdee. Same areas - arms and upper thighs. Not ideal but I’m hoping some toning exercises will help.

tregunamekoidestrecorumsatisdee · 19/03/2023 18:14

Fingers crossed Peridot 🤞I've told myself it I do get it badly all over but hit my target weight (another 5 ish stone) and maintain it for 12 months I'll look into the surgery to have it removed.

Secretboringsister · 19/03/2023 19:17

I have loose arm skin but I would rather that than extra weight ❤️

CheetahCheetah · 19/03/2023 19:19

I have some slightly loose skin on my upper arms, inner thighs and lower tummy. I’m exercising a lot and weight loss has definitely slowed down now. I’m hoping that it might improve as there is less fat weighing down the skin though.

OMG, just tried on two pairs of old size 12 trousers, one never even worn, thought no way are they going to fit and they do!!! Maybe just a tiny bit tight but could wear them! Couldn't believe it!! Don't just look at the scales....I find my weight is a bit up and down, but I'm definitely getting slimmer!

Peridot1 · 19/03/2023 21:51

@tregunamekoidestrecorumsatisdee - my DH has already asked if he will get hit for a tummy tuck once I’m at target! He may well do!

@Secretboringsister - definitely. I feel so much better it’s worth the loose skin.

great result @leilani83! It’s so true we shouldn’t rely on the scales.

Peridot1 · 18/03/2023 11:18

@SheDoneAlreadyHadHersess most of us are paying for it. Have a look at the thread “I started Ozempic last night” which has more info.

Oh thank you, I had missed that one.

alwayssocomplicated · 20/03/2023 06:37

I have just gone upto 1ml but doing 0.5 every 5 days like someone suggested on here. The needs I bought from Amazon definitely sting but the needles that come with the injection don't.

Have I bought the wrong needles? They feel thicker but do fit well.

Peridot1 · 20/03/2023 07:00

@alwayssocomplicated - they may be a bit thicker I suppose. What does the box say? I seem to remember on one of the threads someone said the needles with the pens are 4mm?

CalloohCallayFrabjousDay · 20/03/2023 07:18

So I had heard about the sulphur burps... but OMG the farts I am producing are the worst I have ever smelt 🤢 is this something that goes away or am I doomed?

LovelaceBiggWither · 20/03/2023 07:22

I haven't had the sulphur burps but I've seen fruit tingles recommended as a remedy.

Check out the gauge of the needle also, for example 32 gauge is nice and fine and 4mm adequate length for s/c injection. I ordered via an online pharmacy - 100 for about £5 or £6 plus postage and they are comfortable to use

RumNotRun · 20/03/2023 08:39

I found that the needles I bought sting a bit more although they are apparently the same dimensions. I found moving the injection site from the front of my thigh to the side helped a bit.

The scales are still "broken" and not moving despite not me not eating much. Is it possible to not eat enough to lose weight? However I did measure myself today and have lost 11.5cm from my waist, 3.5cm from my thighs and 3cm from my chest (under my boobs) so that's good.

4mm refers to the length. Anything between 4 and 6mm is fine.

You probably bought some that were thicker in gauge than the original ones, which are a 32.

Scrumbleton · 20/03/2023 09:25

Hi
Going on holiday in a few weeks. Does anyone take an occasional week off to have a break from the side effects and relax on food and drink?

mummylondon16 · 20/03/2023 09:29

I’ve been on it a year and a bit. Paying privately. Lost 1.6 stone now stuck and gaining weight again. Have hashimotos and taking natural dessicated thyroid/ paying privately for that too. Hit peri menopause now and feel it’s all working against me. SIGH

Peridot1 · 20/03/2023 09:37

I have done that a few times @Scrumbleton. I still don’t eat a lot as it’s still in my system but I can eat a bit more. It suits me as while I don’t want to go mad and eat loads I want to be able to enjoy my food. Still couldn’t eat a starter plus a main. May manage a starter and a dessert or two starters. I quite like a sharing plate type of meal as I can have a few bits of everything but not go overboard and people don’t tend to notice if you don’t eat a lot. It’s harder to hide if you order a main course and eat a quarter of it.
