Ozempic - For those of us a few months in

Hi all, thought I would create a designated space outside of the newbie zone for those of us who are in it for the long haul and are a few doses, stone, months down the road.

Urgh, me too on Juniper. £195 was already beyond my budget as a single parent, but £225 per month will mean big choices.

But I've just gone up to 1ml and have finally started losing again.
I might try to suck it up for the first month at the higher price and see.

I'm gutted as I'm so thrilled to feel free from the call of the carbs. This has changed my life and I don't want to lose that.

Twilightstarbright · 31/05/2023 10:43

Manual seem to have found me 0.5mg but I can’t find 1mg anywhere for love nor money!

Everywhere has upped their prices too. Has anyone read any reliable updates on the drug supply situation and when it will be resolved?

On a different note, I’m officially 1 stoke down since mid April which I’m thrilled with. Would like another stone off to be a healthy BMI but I think the second stone will take longer than the first?

SkinnySally · 31/05/2023 13:33

I got the email from MyJuniper too and can swallow this increase but won’t be able to continue if prices keep going up. I would struggle to keep taking that much money away from the family budget.

Has anyone tried Phentermine as an alternative? It’s much cheaper and is also an appetite suppressant without the supply issues.

Peridot1 · 31/05/2023 13:35

For those of you worried about supply issues and rising costs have you looked at Saxenda? It’s very similar to Ozempic for appetite suppression as far as I know. And no supply issues.

Margaritawithlime · 31/05/2023 18:40

I’ve had the email from juniper and complained. They’ve offered me £225 every 40 days instead of 28 with a 10 day injection cycle. Apparently once you’ve been on it a while it’s built up in your system and will still be effective. I’ve said ok as I don’t want to stop even though I’ve seen naff all results yet. It’s only my second pen so fingers crossed a higher doseage will mean something shifts soon.

MiniCooperLover · 31/05/2023 19:52

Hmm I haven't had anything from Juniper yet which is a bit of a worry but I've just had a pen so maybe they'll contact me in a couple of weeks ...

mathis2006 · 31/05/2023 21:27

I had better results with saxenda than ozempic. I switched because ozempic at the time was cheaper but not anymore. Saxenda could definitely be used as sn alternative.

Howdoidoit100 · 31/05/2023 21:53

I had to have a review with my juniper after 6 months. They reviewed as approved for me to continue....I was then asked to place an order when I was ready.

MaryPoppinjay · 31/05/2023 22:19

FWIW I’ve been with Juniper for a while and also recieved the email. Got a bit worried about future availability from some of the wording in the email (they haven’t said explicitly that they may not be able to provide but I got a tad concerned given the quite dramatic shortages). Anyway, have ordered an extra pen from Health Express just in case (ordered tonight - not yet dispatched so wait and see) and used a discount code (TTSM2310) for an extra 10% off so priced at just over £152. Will delay the Juniper dose if this arrives.
They have also refused to move me up from to 1.25 or 1.5 mg despite being at a plateau for a few months (moves 1lb up and down). Said it was due to limited stock availability rather than for any medical reason. My hunger is def back, am craving sugar and I can eat normally if I don’t make a real effort to reign it in. Has anybody else successfully got a higher than 1mg dose from Juniper or elsewhere?

orangelotus · 31/05/2023 22:25

sorry if i'm
being dim. was it juniper who wouldn't increase your dose?
i thought 1mg was the maximum available in the Uk ( shortages aside)

summerlovingvibes · 31/05/2023 08:40

Has anyone had a 0.5mg pen before with a bit left in at the end after all 4 doses? Is it enough for another dose? I have spare needles, but not sure whether to keep it or chuck.

Anyone?

notapizzaeater · 31/05/2023 23:18

@summerlovingvibes yes I'd just get a new needle and use it, my first pen lasted me about 6/7 weeks

MaryPoppinjay · 01/06/2023 01:37

@orangelotus yes, Juniper did say that they can go beyond 1mg and several people on here have gone beyond when 1 stopped being as effective. The higher doses are at their discretion but it seems they no longer are moving the dose up due to shortages.

summerlovingvibes · 01/06/2023 01:48

Thanks. Yes my first 0.25 lasted longer too and I kept using it, but this is my 0.5 pen and what I can't work out is if the tiny bit of liquid left is enough for the full 0.5 dose as I can only just see it. Thought there wasn't any spare with this dose, that's all.

Peridot1 · 01/06/2023 10:06

@summerlovingvibes - if you turn the pen around slowly and count the clicks you should be able to figure out how much is in it. I think 18 clicks will be 0.25.

Ok thanks, I'm at the end of 0.5 pen before I move to 1 so is it still 18 clicks for the 0.5 pen?

Peridot1 · 01/06/2023 12:00

@summerlovingvibes - there are a few YouTube videos that show if you have a look.

Prettybubblesintheair · 01/06/2023 13:39

Anyone thinking of switching to saxender?

summerlovingvibes · 01/06/2023 13:55

@Prettybubblesintheair had a brief look / sums last night but both places I looked at said they weren't taking new patients / stock issues ☹️

Prettybubblesintheair · 01/06/2023 14:59

Oh no that’s so frustrating! I’m about a stone away from my goal and worried about the stock issues!

Oigetoffmylawn · 01/06/2023 15:19

summerlovingvibes · 01/06/2023 10:59

Regards of the pen, 18 clicks is 0.25. so 36 clicks would be 0.5.
If you have some remaining in the pen, just count the clicks and work out how much you have left. 1 click is roughly 0.0139mg so it's:

number of clicks * 0.0139 = amount remaining in the pen.

So 24 clicks * 0.0139 = around 0.33mg

SteveBuscemisRheumyEye · 01/06/2023 16:22

OMG! I've just realised, after 3 months that you're supposed to press the plunger several times rather than just once!

So I've actually been on .25 all this time, I think?!

tregunamekoidestrecorumsatisdee · 01/06/2023 16:29

@SteveBuscemisRheumyEye I only ever press the plunger once for each dose. I'm not sure why you would need to press it again? By the time it clicks back to zero you are fully injected so pressing it again won't do anything different.

Peridot1 · 01/06/2023 16:35

@SteveBuscemisRheumyEye - no you only press it once. Hold it until it clicks back to zero, hold it in for a count of ten and withdraw.

SteveBuscemisRheumyEye · 01/06/2023 16:58

So, I have been just pressing and releasing straight away - I've not been holding it and it's not been going back to 0 🫣

Wondered why I had so much!
