“I started Ozempic last night” THREAD FOUR

1000 replies

HermioneWeasley · 12/03/2023 09:17

Can’t believe we’re on thread 4

welcome back to previous posters, and welcome to those who are new or interested.

a few of us have been on Ozempic with a range of experiences for a few months now, so if you’re interested in how it goes in the early days, the earlier threads might be a good place to start.

I’ve been on it for about 6 months now and have lost around 20lbs. It has been effortless. I used to be ravenously hungry all the time, and now I’m not. I had very mild side effects at first (just some nausea), but none now.

most of us have referral codes for various providers, so if you are starting, do ask on the thread and someone will PM you.

I also want to get back to running and have my new runners bought in preparation. Going to start back when I get into 12st bracket which should coincide with better weather too!

tregunamekoidestrecorumsatisdee · 15/03/2023 09:48

I'm 2.5 weeks into the 0.50mg dose and like pp's I've completely plateaued. I'm still down 23lbs since 3/2 which I'm delighted with and hope I get out of this plateau soon. One or two pounds a week would suit me fine as I'm terrified of getting the saggy skin. I'm already noticing some crepiness from the 23lbs and I've about 60lbs to go.

I will be starting soon, excited for this. Do people find adopting a 16:8 kind of method is a good way to go? So no brekkie, small healthy lunch than larger healthy evening meal?

I would say a minimum number of people are doing IF with Ozempic.

Since the goal is to let you use the time to reset a balanced healthy lifestyle, I would go with breakfast, lunch and dinner with no snacks. I am no nutritionist but I am qualified in anatomy and physiology and that would be my advice to anyone. Xx

Hi, having followed these threads closely, and having watched my friend shrink before my very eyes, I’m about to embark on my own Ozempic journey. Very excited and nervous right now! I wondered if someone would be kind enough to message me a Juniper code. Thank you!

Oigetoffmylawn · 15/03/2023 11:04

So I now WANT to eat breakfast. I

Oigetoffmylawn · 15/03/2023 11:06

Whoops, accidentally pressed post!

I'm hungry in the mornings, like actually ravenous. Which is brilliant as it's a sign my body is utilising the nutrients I'm giving it appropriately and sending me full and hunger cues as it should which indicates I'm getting appropriate hormonal regulation! This is AMAZING for me. Never been so happy to be hungry.

Any ideas how long 50lbs would take?

Starting next week on rybelsus

Can you change it to the injection? People tend to have better results with it because you don’t have to take it on a completely empty stomach and avoid other meds and caffeine etc afterwards. It’s just more of a pain.

Athena51 · 15/03/2023 12:47

Dogsarebetterthanhumans · 15/03/2023 09:02

Some people are but I would say 95pc are taking the injection which is much easier.

Of those taking the tablets, some people get on absolutely fine like the PP above. I had a really yucky time on them and they didn’t do anything for me. My Consultant Endocrinologist said that he had other patients have problems with them too. Doesn’t mean they won’t work for you though.

I took the tablets when the injection was out of stock and gladly changed back to the injection. X

Same experience for me. I took them when the shortages were at their height but I actually have nearly a full packet in the bathroom cabinet because I absolutely hated the tablets, they tasted disgusting, I hate having to wait to even have a cup of tea and the made me feel awful.

I actually came off entirely until I could get the injection again. Even the thought of taking one of those horrible tablets makes me gag!

Great thread - finished first week today and down 4lbs - unheard of as I'm late 50s and really struggle to lose any weight. It's been good - a bit queasy at times but have had a rotten cold which hasn't helped. Don't get hungry? (Always normally ravenous) but had bad headaches when my blood sugar was likely low from eating less -especyday three and four. Also a bit constipated but that's a kind of relief as I have IBS and am usually dashing to the loo at pace. Another strange one - my nails which are normally very flaky seem to be getting stronger- anyone experiencing nail changes?
Didn't manage to work out much as was unwell with cold but will go for it next week. Great start

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 15/03/2023 14:23

May I ask if any of you currently on Ozempic or Saxenda are also on anti anxiety medication or anti depressants? Are there any contraindications for use together?

Dogsarebetterthanhumans · 15/03/2023 14:24

Oigetoffmylawn · 14/03/2023 08:10

So I used to be one of those people - I could essentially eat what I liked and maintained a steady, healthy weight (BMI around 21). But "eat what I want" was because I felt then like I do now on ozempic, I do and did get hungry but a small meal would fill me up until my next meal time. If I wanted sweet stuff, I had it, but I wouldn't have been able to finish a share bar of chocolate etc.

And yes, I thought fat people were greedy or lazy and should just eat less and move more. I was so wrong! But I think if you've never experienced it, it's really hard to understand.

To be fair I don’t know anybody who can finish a share bar of chocolate so I think that’s perfectly normal.
All the best with your journey xx

swallowedAfly · 15/03/2023 14:26

I'm 100% positive you know someone who can finish a share bar of chocolate.

Hi all such an interesting thread. Well done everyone.

What was your starting weight @missfliss?

Can you buy a 1mg pen from the off and then just administer 0.25 to
begin with (to make things cheaper)?

No the pen expires after 56 days and you have to chuck it.
To dose at 0.25 you would want it to last for 16 weeks which is 112 days.
Thus you could do it when you get to 0.5mg

Lavendersquare · 14/03/2023 19:24

A question about refrigeration, if once opened you don't need to keep the ozempic pen in the fridge, why, when it's sealed and new does it come packed with ice to keep it cool?

Unopened medication needs to be refrigerated x

Diedre44 · 15/03/2023 14:49

@greenerb
This is some of the the info I've just got after placing my 1st order:

Week Dose injected
Weeks 1 – 4 0.25mg once a week
Weeks 5 – 8 0.5mg once a week
Weeks 9+ 1mg once a week
At the beginning of the treatment you will start with 0.25mg once a week (please note that after using the fourth dose around half the solution in your pre-filled pen will be left over). After four weeks the dose will increase to 0.5mg once a week. After four weeks of using 0.5mg once a week, the dose will increase to 1mg once a week which will be your maintenance dose. The dose is gradually increased in this way to allow your body to get used to the medication and to minimise any side effects you might experience.

You can keep the pen for 6 weeks when stored at a temperature below 30°C or in a refrigerator (2°C to 8°C). Do not freeze. Keep away from the freezer compartment.

These instructions are supplementary to the information provided in the patient information leaflet in your medication box.

When you are not using the pen, keep the pen cap on in order to protect it from light.

Do not use this medicine if the solution is not clear and colourless or almost colourless.

Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to throw away medicines you no longer use. These measures will help protect the environment.

Hope that helps.

Diedre44 · 15/03/2023 15:07

Out of interest does anyone have more than half their current weight to lose to get to a "NORMAL/HEALTHY" weight like me?

KEH1982 · 15/03/2023 15:09

So excited to join you all - just administered my first dose!

I have over 4 stone to lose so hoping i can give myself a good start with this while getting the food in check and getting back into exercise.

Thanks for all the great input on the threads, ive been watching and reading all your progress.

🙋🏼 A share bar of chocolate and then an hour later some more too.

Habit? Perhaps.

Sugar addiction? Most definitely.

I am on Mirtazipine, no issues with taking both which is good as one of the main side effects of Mirtazipine is increased hunger and weight gain!

I'm excited and terrified at the same time. My order should be here tomorrow.

Can anyone explain how easy or difficult the injection is to do please? I'm a bit squeamishness

It’s easy and I hate needles. This needle is tiny though.
