“I started Ozempic last night” THREAD FOUR

1000 replies

HermioneWeasley · 12/03/2023 09:17

Can’t believe we’re on thread 4

welcome back to previous posters, and welcome to those who are new or interested.

a few of us have been on Ozempic with a range of experiences for a few months now, so if you’re interested in how it goes in the early days, the earlier threads might be a good place to start.

I’ve been on it for about 6 months now and have lost around 20lbs. It has been effortless. I used to be ravenously hungry all the time, and now I’m not. I had very mild side effects at first (just some nausea), but none now.

most of us have referral codes for various providers, so if you are starting, do ask on the thread and someone will PM you.

My problem is that DH lost several stone last year and found it pretty easy. He’s still super smug and he doesn’t understand why I find it hard.

keep it to your yourself!!
bit of mystery in a relationship is always a good thing!!!Blush

I’ve been on this for 10 weeks and lost almost 1 stone. I know a lot of people don’t like this, but my BMI was ‘only’ 28 when I started and I’m almost in the healthy weight bracket now. 4lbs to go!

I get mine via Numan. It’s £156 per month for the first 3 months, then they have applied the same discount for the next 3 months for me when I said I want to cancel.

Rapunzel91 · 14/03/2023 21:46

Little update from me.
I took my second 0.25 mg dose a few days ago and have to say I’m feeling good! After the first dose I felt a bit nauseous on and off but wouldn’t say my appetite was much different until about 3-4 days in.

Now I can definitely tell I’m eating less and thinking about food less and I’ve lost 3-4 lbs 🙌 I’d still easily go for something carb heavy or sugary so have to make a conscious effort to chose something nutritious as I definitely need it with eating so much less and I want to get in the habit for when I’m no longer on the drug

For anyone wanting I have a £50 code of Juniper (I also get £50 off)

@LadyFarnborough I got the same kind of reaction from my hubby. I haven't told him about ordering injection. I think I have had a massive (pardon the french) "fuck you!" moment with him. I've been in a terrible headspace for a good few months, I've had terrible anxiety I think probably pre-covid if I'm brutally honest with myself. Beginning of 2020 I started doing Keto and had managed to shift 29lbs by mid March and then 1st lockdown hit and I went to pot. Fast forward to today and I'm at my heaviest ever with a massive BMI.

I spoke to hubby on Sunday and told him I was going to start back doing Keto and that I had to do something and would appreciate his support, he just huffed and said "right, well I don't want you going on about it." Problem is he's an enabler/feeder. I honestly don't think he wants me to succeed, I think he has his own anxiety that I'll suddenly find a better world if I'm slimmer or leave him but that's his problem. He is overweight himself and could do with losing a good 3 or 4 stone himself and he knows it, he complains about it all the time but he is completely addicted to sugar and try as I may he will not give up himself. I have said I am not going to be cooking for him or our son anymore and I have to do this for myself. I'm 2 days in doing a 5 day egg fast to give me a kick start and I feel good already, I know I won't be in Ketosis just yet but I'm feeling positive, I can't wait for the clarity to kick in it's amazing when it happens.
I'm here to handhold if you need it💕💕

@SOWK I told my DH I ordered it. Didn't think I could hide a sharps bin as well as the drugs in the fridge! Also, the doom merchant in me thought it wise someone knew in case of any complications. Had the predictable conversation of 'well if you were just consistent you would actually lose weight' but that was about it. I can be as consistent as I want but at the end of the day, following a 1300 calorie a day diet with frequent exercise only ever results in half a pound loss if I'm lucky.

So true - and then literally, and I mean literally, you go out for one 'cheat' meal - maybe just one single evening of steak and chips with a chocolate brownie and a glass of wine or two. And the 1lb you lost becomes 2lb you put on. And it just repeats. It's SO frustrating.

Did you need a code for that?

LadyFarnborough · 14/03/2023 22:03

@Diedre44 He sounds unhelpful to say the least. There will be loads of support here I'm sure ❤️

LadyFarnborough · 14/03/2023 22:05

@RainyDays8 Yes! I'll slog my guts out all week to lose half a pound then one pizza will put 4lb back on me 😭

Twiglets1 · 15/03/2023 04:56

I didn’t tell my husband when I was on Ozempic as I wasn’t even sure how I felt about it myself and wanted time to try it without him commenting every 5 minutes. I did tell my adult daughter just so that someone knew (didn’t tell friends either).
I would have told him eventually if I had stuck with it. I think it will be easier to talk about when it becomes more mainstream with Wegovy becoming available from outlets in the high street like Boots. However, at the moment there is a lot of prejudice around private prescription drugs used for weight loss so I preferred to keep it quiet and that’s ok.

SmileLikeUMeanIt · 15/03/2023 05:14

I haven't told anyone either, in case it made no difference and I'd wasted all that money. But just had my second injection and I lost 3.3kg first week so I'm happy with that.

MaireadMcSweeney · 15/03/2023 06:41

I didn't tell DP which is weird because we don't really do secretive but in this instance I felt like keeping it to myself. Weight issues carry a lot of shame and whilst he knows that I have trouble with weight and binging he doesn't know how I really feel about my weight (because I project a confidence about it, partly because insecurity is unattractive and partly because if you fake it you do make it part of the way). I just can't face talking about the deep shame I feel about not being able to fix my weight issues by myself, even though I know (and ozempic is proving!!) that it's partly a medical condition related to hormones.
I randomly told my boss and a colleague the other day, only because my boss was talking about her weight loss issues and I thought I'd share the positivity. She's now on it and thrilled so I'm glad I did. But I haven't told any of my friends either.

Hi all, I have just ordered 0.25 with Health Express. It says it will be processed by 4pm and delivered tomorrow so I am watching the order tracker anxiously!

I’ve just seen HealthExpress didn’t despatch it yesterday after all which is quite disappointing. Next day delivery was one of the reasons I went with them.

ZiggZagg · 15/03/2023 08:40

Waiting eagerly for my delivery today!
It was dispatched yesterday so should be with my mail this morning.

Do people recommend a certain time of day? I'm thinking night time might be better?

BalloonArch · 15/03/2023 08:41

Just checking in.
I've been on this for about 9 weeks. No side effects at all on 0.25 and I lost weight very very quickly at first.
Then I got ravenous so moved up to 0.5.
And completely plateaued - the scale didn't move for weeks. So if you're new, don't panic if it "stops working" after a bit.
I lost 12lbs in the first few weeks and it's taken me much longer to lose the next 5lbs.

However, with 17lb gone I've gone from 16 stone plus and this morning I'm in the 14's!

May I ask if you have done any exercise? I haven't. I do plan on the fairly near future to do some straight training but at the moment work is too busy and I and struggling a bit with fatigue presumably from the jab.

I am on week 7 for info and have lost a stone. I generally lose either 1 or 2lb a week so am content with that. I consume about 1300 cals a day.

My job although busy is fairly sedentary.

Going forwards I would suggest evening. However the first one I think should be done early in the day just incase there is an unwanted reaction.

That's just my opinion. I did my first one at night and had a bit of a panic that I wouldn't wake up the next morning 🫣

Nope, not a bit. But I definitely should. I'm desk based and WFH so the only exercise I get is wandering around the house. With that and menopause it shouldn't be a big surprise that I got fat.
I used to run, I'm going to start again when the weather improves and there's less of me pounding down on my dodgy knee. it's so hard to get any motivation when it's cold out.

ZiggZagg · 15/03/2023 09:01

Thanks @HolibobsinApril I have anxiety so your plan sounds much better for my nerves haha!

I'm sure this has been asked before, but I am scrolling through previous threads and missing it - are any of you using the tablet equivalents, and how are you finding that?

Some people are but I would say 95pc are taking the injection which is much easier.

Of those taking the tablets, some people get on absolutely fine like the PP above. I had a really yucky time on them and they didn’t do anything for me. My Consultant Endocrinologist said that he had other patients have problems with them too. Doesn’t mean they won’t work for you though.

I took the tablets when the injection was out of stock and gladly changed back to the injection. X

I’ve gone to reformer Pilates this morning and it’s the first time I was burping so much in the class!! It’s not that I felt sick but there’s literally food sitting in my stomach! All I had this morning was one egg! I am starting to get worried that I am going to get acid reflux!

the real issue of not ‘emptying the stomach’ is that I am not getting enough nutrient to build muscles either! This is really worrying as how can you sustain the weight loss if you don’t change the muscle to fat ratio!

You’re still in your early days; just be mindful at the moment and wait it out; you will feel a bit better soon x

Itsybitsytitsy · 15/03/2023 09:12

Has anyone got a referral code for weight medics, quick meds or Numan.
Many thanks in advance x

I've been on 1mg for a month and I've lost 9.5kgs (1.5 stone) (140kgs to 130.5kgs) but I'm worried its just from eating too little. I've been really really stressed this month and I'm really having to force myself to eat, I'm worried I'm doing my metabolism long term damage but also delighted its coming off

Think about this neuro-chemically. If on the one hand you are taking physical measures to lose weight and on the other hand you are spending your days putting cortisol into your system worrying, making it harder for you to lose weight; then it doesn’t add up.

Write down the worry in full in a notebook or journal and make it as detailed as possible with all the little things that concern you. Then when you shut the book, it’s done, it’s gone; move on and enjoy your weight loss.

I think one of the things I wish I’d known is that you WILL still get hungry. You will probably eat medium/small size meals still. You will probably still crave the sweet stuff but the difference ozempic made for me was I was able to stop eating when full, usually about 1/3 into my meal. Yes it does cause appetite suppression but don’t expect to never feel hungry or crave something sweet. For me at least that hasn’t been the case. I still get cravings but I am 100% able to ignore them. It’s helped control my impulse control not just with food but I’m also an absolute shopaholic and I just don’t have the urge to shop anymore, so it’s been good for my waist and my bank account! I went out with dh today and only bought what I needed like toiletries and socks! I tried on a gorgeous dress but happily left it which was refreshing.

Who told you that you wouldn’t get hungry? There’s loads of misinformation on here it’s not even real. Even people who haven’t been on the drug at all are giving out advice from stuff they have googled!
Sorry that happened to you and well done on your success. X

ILostMyself · 15/03/2023 09:25

Just checking in again… i’m a bit behind on the thread (and end of the last thread!) as I was away at the weekend visiting my friend abroad. I weighed myself this morning expecting to be a couple of pounds heavier from my time away and am stunned to see that I weigh less then before I went. I was still eating 3 meals a day and snacks and wasn’t counting calories but I did feel like i was eating ‘for the sake of it’ most of the time.

I have to say that was the only thing that wasn’t great while I was away as I really wanted to enjoy the food but I just wasn’t hungry ever so everything was ‘meh’. Although, I’d much rather not be obese so it’s a price I’m willing to pay right now. In fact, when I weighed myself this morning it actually took me just under an obese bmi and into ‘overweight’ so I’m really happy with that.

My next dose will be my first 0.5mg and I’ve got a 1mg for them to make it last longer. Does anyone have a link to extra needles on amazon that are not too pricey?

I’ve lost 7lbs in my first 3 and a bit weeks on 0.25, eating 1600 calories a day on average and aiming for 10,000 steps a day (although I don't always hit that). I’m also trying to get back into running (such a slog!) so jump on the treadmill about 3 times a week and do a very slow 5k or run/walk intervals. Must get in the gym and do some strength training as it’s so important for health so aiming to get in there at least once a week for that now.

So...my BMI is 28 but I am bigger than I've ever been. I know it is supposed to be 30 or more but I've tried lots of things and being peri menopausal isn't helping. I'd like to try it - could I get it privately or would I have to lie re my weight?

Privately if you see a Consultant Endocrinologist, and you explain your situation and commit to healthy diet and exercise then I reckon you will be supported with a script.
They have the discretion to prescribe at this BMI.
Really, really silly to lie to an online provider. If they give it to you and something goes wrong for you or you get dangerous side effects by any chance, you have nowhere to go and no recourse as you lied to get it. If you get it legitimately, you just get an emergency appointment with your doctor. X
