“I started Ozempic last night” THREAD FOUR

1000 replies

HermioneWeasley · 12/03/2023 09:17

Can’t believe we’re on thread 4

welcome back to previous posters, and welcome to those who are new or interested.

a few of us have been on Ozempic with a range of experiences for a few months now, so if you’re interested in how it goes in the early days, the earlier threads might be a good place to start.

I’ve been on it for about 6 months now and have lost around 20lbs. It has been effortless. I used to be ravenously hungry all the time, and now I’m not. I had very mild side effects at first (just some nausea), but none now.

most of us have referral codes for various providers, so if you are starting, do ask on the thread and someone will PM you.

Ive PM'd you @MrsPerfect12 @MotherofTerriers @orangelotus ☺️

Just for clarity, I also get 20%off when you use that code 😊

If anyone wants a code, PM me as I'm on the app and have to switch between desktop and app to message and it's a bit of a pain!

@MotherofTerriers I spoke to my GP who was really supportive of me doing this, he just said it was a shame he couldn't prescribe it. I think as long as you are honest with them.

5lb down after week 1 and it has been the easiest 5lb I've ever lost! Haven't felt hungry and have definitely been making better food choices ☺️

thankyou yes i am only on the app and it's a real nuisance.
i am one pen ahead so will
order in a few weeks

Oigetoffmylawn · 27/03/2023 19:47

And I'm still plateauing!

BUT I still have no food noise, I'm eating much more intuitively. It'll come off at some point. Probably when I start going to the toilet normally again 😏

MiniCooperLover · 28/03/2023 06:38

Yesterday 13st1, today 13st5?? The only thing is I had a ready meal y'day for dinner and finished it because I was hungry for the first time? And a slice of bread with bfast and one slice with lunch, I think carbs really don't help me. Think I'm due on soon too which isn't helping. Must remember the long road ... 🙈 Today is injection day and I do usually struggle to stay off carbs the day before 🤷‍♀️

Just to add, I lost 1 stone in less than a month so a lot faster than others who have much more to lose. It has really suppressed my appetite though. Making sticking to a diet so much easier.

My BMI was 29.4 so nearly obese.
I'm now just in the normal weight range! Whoop.
I'm going to take this for 6 months (in total) as I want the behaviour change to stick and not revert back or I will have wasted a lot of money. I lost a lot to start but now only losing about 0.5 lbs per week. I will stop before if needed though.

LadyFarnborough · 28/03/2023 07:22

Week 1 done and 4.8lb lost. Am delighted. It's been no effort and only minimal side effects so far (aware that can change!). It's been such a nice change to be so unbothered by food.

Lavendersquare · 28/03/2023 07:40

It's day 28 for me and I've lost exactly 1 stone, I'm over the moon. I lost 10lb in the first two weeks and 2lb per week for the past fortnight.

I'm overjoyed at how much of a difference the Ozempic has made to my appetite and how I'm not craving biscuits or chocolate anymore, in fact I'm still enjoying my box of Mother's Day chocolates now and again one at a time, in the past the box would have been gone with a day or two.

My only side effect to date is that I'm a bit constipated and then have the runs once every week, however this is manageable and is getting a bit better.

I have stuck at 1 stone loss now since writing that! I think it was good for me to lose it quickly as it has given me the motivation but yes, I can see it being small losses each week now which I will still be happy with. As you say, gives us time for behaviour change.xx

Circa1840 · 28/03/2023 07:46

Well done @Lavendersquare that's fantastic. It does seem to slow down doesn't it but it all adds up. Are you going to move up to .5mg or stay on .25? I just gave myself .25 having completely forgot I was supposed to increase it. Will see how it goes I suppose. Cd split the dose over the week like some ladies do.x

FloraGreysteel · 28/03/2023 08:01

Lavendersquare · 28/03/2023 08:21

@Circa1840 I'd be very happy to stay losing 2lb a week, normally if I try WW or SW I have a good first week then up and down thereafter, it would probably have taken 8 weeks for me to lose a stone, and really slow 1lb here and there after that.

I'm due to go up to 0.5 this week but Juniper are late sending my next pen, which is really annoying especially considering they are not the cheapest. I have a fair bit left in my original 0.25 pen and have bought additional needles so would I be ok to just take 2x 0.25 or is there a reason why I shouldn't?

MissLucyLiu · 28/03/2023 08:56

I've chosen to inject on my 'love handles' instead of belly as I see some are saying it reduces nausea. However this one I felt it and it's quite sore. Am I doing it wrong? My love handles are actually quite tight, unlikely the loose belly fat ..is there a layer of muscles close to the skin ? Sorry this might sound super STUPID! But I don' tknow why this one was painful!

I'm hoping Ukmeds get stock in soon and I can join you all

That's exactly what I did.
I used a new needle for each injection though.

Michaelahpurple · 28/03/2023 09:45

May I ask a technical question - can't see anything previous. I collected my prescription from my local chemist yesterday but am worried about whether it should have been refrigerated. They said they kept it at room temp which is fine until opened, but the leaflet and website says it should be refrigerated before opening. Do your suppliers keep it in the fridge? What about mail order - does it come in cool packs?

I've always injected into the outside of my thigh at the top to reduce the chance of side effects (this is only anidotal evidence though!)
Squeeze the fat and inject.

I've not had nausea or other gastric side effects.

Exactly.
It's really hard to be patient (well I'm finding it hard! 😂) But it's probably better to not continue with fast weight loss after the initial period for a number of reasons.

www.healthline.com/health/subcutaneous-injection#complications

Sub cut injections would not normally be given into the hip area. The location won't make a difference to nausea.

I initially found the Manual website very confusing , to start with it seems aimed at men , however the whatapp support group is full of ladies and Madeline is available all day to answer any queries. Then I was a little put off with the health assembly but just answer the questions truthfully and eventually you get to the Ozempic selection .
Either give your Drs details OR asked a photo later.
The team are very helpful. I placed an order yesterday morning and it arrive today. Sometimes it takes two days.

I wouldn’t reinject @MissLucyLiu. see how you go for a few days first. It’s still in your system.
