Monday weigh-in for those over 14 stone

Hello All,

I really need to work up my motivation to lose weight at the moment and although I do daily personal weigh-ins I think some accountability would really help!

Would anyone like to join me?

I'm around 16 stone at the moment so it would be great to hear from others who want to lose weight but not necessarily slim from size 10 to an 8!

Heading.into the office today which is normally my downfall as there are far too biscuits floating around. I've been up since 5 but have managed to sort out some soup and a little pot of dates and seeds. Just got to try not to eat it all by 10am!

Some really inspiring losses showing here so I will keep checking back so I stay on track. I usually start well but lose enthusiasm after a week so here's hoping I can persist.

Personally I would take a lot more food. At least have something healthy to munch on instead of biscuits.

I stress eat so instead of fighting it I take more food. Just now it'll be healthier. I have left over bolognese, humous and tomatoes, yoghurt and a banana and a cereal bar. This will be the majority if todays calories. No breakfast until 10.20 when I have a break.

Hummus and tomatoes is a good thought thank you. I've had some fruit and cereal so at least I've started off ok. And I'll try to get out for a walk rather than head to Costa!

Fixesplease · 28/02/2023 08:00

I went to the nurse yesterday for my check up. I'm still exactly the same weight as I was 2 weeks ago, I've cut out loads of stuff yet it's not shifted. Not happy!
So I'm apparently 14.40kg. 😬
Payday today so "big shop" and re subbing the nutricheck app.

Does anyone have any ideas for Diabeties friendly sweet hit?
Or snacks I can munch that are low carb and low sugar?

I really struggle in the office too (also don't have time for my morning walk so lose 4K steps), I'm only in one day a week at the moment but it will be going up to 3 in April as we have new member of staff starting who I'm training, I'm hoping my healthier ways have set in by then and I'll have more willpower and some motivation to go for an evening walk instead.

My office has a tuck shop in the corner full of chocolate sweets and crisps so it’s so hard when I’m craving something I shouldn’t have

PhillyJoe · 28/02/2023 11:04

Hi all, I’m a bit late to the party but saw this yesterday and thought I’d join in. I’m 15 st 12lbs which is the heaviest I’ve been. I’ve gained a lot since COVID and it keeps getting worse not better. I changed jobs and now work from home and I was hoping this would give me time to exercise and prepare healthy food but I seem to have even less time somehow. I’ll go back and catch up on all the previous posts now.

Parrish · 28/02/2023 11:48

I’m weighing in at 14 stone 12 pounds! My god.

Hope you're resisting the biscuits. Just came on to say I think my earlier post sounded a bit like me saying I thought you were wrong and my way is better so sorry if it sounded that way. If you didn't get that from it ignore this post! Was bugging me as I just bashed out a reply on the way out the door and didn't mean to be unsupportive

LaRitournelle · 28/02/2023 16:24

I'm definitely feeling the hunger from dropping down to 1500 calories rather than the 1700 I had been doing! Trying to drink plenty of water and hoping I'll get used to it in a few days...

Good day so far though I've just hit my 7.5k step target and my food is coming in at 1,512 calories for the day (I find it easiest to put my meals in MFP first thing in the morning so I can see what is leftover for snack!).

linziere · 28/02/2023 18:54

Struggling with hunger today too @LaRitournelle - today's a work day and because I only work six hours I don't get a break so don't get chance for lunch when I'm on visits. Usually I'd come home and end up binging as a result but instead I'm going to have some grapes and go for a swim after my DD has gone to sleep!

Thank you and absolutely no issue - any and all ideas and thoughts welcome! I managed on my rations but you made a good point. I do go all out and then fail, so I should be gentler on myself.

Welcome to the group! It does make sense that you have less time as tasks tend to expand to fit the time that you can give to them I think.

Good luck this week!

Been a tricky day. Did really well at work, even with early dinner from the canteen I didn't overeat. But after 3 hours of parents evening i caved and ate crap! Still under on my calories but a lot of it was sugar! Hopefully will still lose a bit this week. Packed my lunch ready for tomorrow!

grosslyunfair · 28/02/2023 22:24

Ha! I'm feeling so many of you. After a couple of great weeks today has been a miserable failure. There has simply not been enough food in the world to satisfy me today. It could have been worse- I've managed not to give in and totally binge. But I've spanked and then some my calorie target and I'm still hungry!

One day at a time- it's just a set back and it's a marathon not a sprint. But I'd give one of my kidneys for a massive bag of chips right now!

@Shanners79 Mint gum! Have a piece of sugar free gum...I find getting up to get a piece, chewing, and then the mint flavour put me off eating anything else as chocolate or a biscuit or even toast or fruit don't go with mint gum flavour...

Ambertonix · 01/03/2023 09:10

Unfortunately im finding covid to be the biggest help to my weight loss journey at the moment. Im nine days in and have totally lost my sense of taste and smell so im just really not that interested in food which is totally unlike me! Dont feel ill at all, just a bit snotty but the being unable to smell and taste my food is a really weird sensastion and apparently it could last four weeks!

PatMu · 01/03/2023 12:22

Monday not great so instead of having the 'have fecked up so might as well keep going mentality' I got back on it Tuesday and so far so good today. I annoyed myself by looking back at my SW history to see I was 2 stone lighter this time 2 years ago Confused but going to try and let this motivate me.
Oh and started HRT- I'll be a new woman soonGrin

Emotional eating - I try to talk to myself - like will I feel better after eating this? How will this family sized bar or chocolate help - sometimes it works!

Downtogetdown · 01/03/2023 15:24

Room for one more?
I was 17st 2lb this morning.
ideally want to get it down as far as I can before a holiday in 12 weeks time.

I need to get to 12st 9 to get within a ‘healthy’ bmi so that’s the aim eventually, and then to keep reducing half a stone at a time to get to where I am happy.
but I’ve been putting off starting properly for months so I need to get my act together and crack on!
I’ve rejoined the local leisure centre gym and started adding in some spin classes there a few nights a week, and then added another a little further away that have facilities for the kids so aiming to get another two classes/swims/gym sessions in there a week as there will be clubs for them so I have childcare.

I just need to stop falling face first into takeaway/chocolate and sweets all the bloody time and keep on track!

ThankYouVeryMuchGerry · 01/03/2023 16:21

We had dinner out last night and I had a Korean BBQ chicken breast burger. It sounded amazing with kimchi and pickled cucumbers. It didn't live up to its promise - I had two bites and thought it wasn't actually worth my calories or my gut health and nutrition to eat it. Previously I would just have eaten it as I was hungry.

I just had a quick Italian salad when I got back.

I'm now in a head space where I will only eat something if its going to add proper nutrition to my body, or if it's something I really want and it will enhance my life to eat it - hence I had an amazing cream cake the other day, it was from the artisan bakery near us and it was sublime, it really made my day to eat it!

I've ben using the Zoe program and it's really made me stop and think about food and whether it will make my health and my life better if I eat something.

linziere · 01/03/2023 17:28

I'm bad for emotional eating. Last night it took nearly an hour and a half to get my toddler to go to sleep and when I came downstairs I felt rubbish and wanted nothing more than a big bar of chocolate or some crisps but there's none in the house so had to do with grapes instead. Until I can have the willpower alone, I just don't buy it.
I suppose planning a bit ahead in preparation for those times you feel emotional @Shanners79 by having some diet/calorie friendly treats/snacks is the only way I can avoid just eating crap when I feel like crap.
