Hello All,

I really need to work up my motivation to lose weight at the moment and although I do daily personal weigh-ins I think some accountability would really help!

Would anyone like to join me?

I'm around 16 stone at the moment so it would be great to hear from others who want to lose weight but not necessarily slim from size 10 to an 8!

Good Morning everyone 15.0.2 for me xx Excited

Ambertonix · 27/02/2023 11:21

Morning all. Weigh in as expected 14st 6. Cant believe ive let it get this bad. Never mind, as someone upthread said onwards and downwards! Feel quite motivated for my first week but we shall see. Good luck everyone!

WelshNerd · 27/02/2023 11:42

Hi everyone!

Saw this thread last night so figured I'd weigh this morning and join you all. I'm currently 17st 3.

Last year I weighed 19st 9 and lost weight after joining a great gym. I think I need to focus more on my food now though to lose more. I have set a mini goal of 16st 12 and then will focus on each half stone so it doesn't feel like an impossible task.

imnotthatkindofmum · 27/02/2023 11:50

Just had a doctors appt this morning about something else and my BP was high. I've never had high BP in fact I've struggled with low BP my whole life even in pregnancy.

Good incentive. I found a doctor telling me to lose weight more motivating tbh! (Although this is the first time as I've never been this overweight before)

grosslyunfair · 27/02/2023 12:20

I like the mini goals idea. I have a holiday at Easter and I'd like to be around 13 and a half by then- I have (as I suspect many of you do!) clothes in many sizes and my holiday outfits will
Be much more comfortable if I've taken some off. Just have to try not to be photographed next to my thin friend I am going with!

Rosesandstars · 27/02/2023 12:21

Hi All,

16st 2 for me this morning- onwards and downwards!

Sorry to hear that @imnotthatkindofmum but that's good that you're using it as motivation to lose weight!

Also, well done @WelshNerd for your 2.5 stone weight loss so far- that's inspirational!

Hope everyone is doing okay and has a good week! 💟

That sounds like a great plan! I would love to get back into the 13s, for me it will take a while- good luck!

Morning all. Just weighed myself, and it ain't good. 15 stone 3 and short, need to lose 5 stone.

I know what my problem is, it's emotional eating and boredom, plus late night snacking. I'm going to try to give up baking and making food and take up knitting or sewing instead. Keep my hands busy.

Also walk 6 miles a day from today.

Good idea! I already have hobbies but I tend to just stare at my phone and waste time then do boredom snacking. Gonna get some projects on the go!

MissingGrandstand · 27/02/2023 12:53

Yes please! I was 14st11 at weigh in this morning, 6lb down from starting 3.5 weeks ago. Weigh day is Thursday here, I was 14st10.5 at last weigh in so I need to be on it until Thurs to make sure I get back to where I was and hopefully lower.

Trying to go slow and steady as have done the crash diets before and lost loads but of course it never stays off. Doing slimming world but mainly for the focus on whole foods you cook yourself, rather than being evangelical about it.

Similar to @Springinthecity - I'm 5"7-5"8 depending on the day and who measures me, and just want to get down to a normal BMI, I'm happy at the top end of normal or even slightly above as we are a broad and heavy family (sister is 5"10, size 8 in most things and around 11st8, at the lower end of target for my height I'd be emaciated) - main goal is to have my weight starting with a 12, with shorter term to be starting with a 13 by May holiday.

Loving how supportive this thread seems so far!

MissingGrandstand · 27/02/2023 13:00

@grosslyunfair I absolutely feel you there - I'm bridesmaid in the summer and I'm absolutely not exaggerating when I say I could lose 4st and still be massive compared to the bride and other bridesmaids, my skeleton would be massive next to them!

They are all really petite in stature, and skinny to go with it, so even if I was skinny I'd still look huge in comparison. I'm dreading trying on dresses!

grosslyunfair · 27/02/2023 13:12

@MissingGrandstand oh I hear you! Good luck with that- I'm sure the most important thing is you being there. Hopefully you will be able to choose a style that flatters each of you!

14st 9.5 this morning after a bad weekend food and drink wise -but a great weekend otherwise Grin

Plan is back tracking on MFP and move more. Awake half the night with joint pain in my knee which might scupper the move more plan so have made a GP appointment for tomorrow to get checked out. Think I need to start HRT tbh!

Like the idea of mini goals - have a family occasion in 3 weeks so 5 pounds off and less bloated for photos would be good.

Family holiday end of June I would love to be a stone lighter at least - very doable if I stick at it!

Have a good week everyone:)

ThankYouVeryMuchGerry · 27/02/2023 14:45

weighed in at 16.2 this morning, down from 18.7 in January. Been doing intermittent fasting which is working well. Although I'm just about to go to the bakery to get a cream cake!

Well done on getting an appointment for tomorrow!!

I'm on HRT and it has made a huge difference to hip and back pain I had which I had no idea was related to peri menopause! The pain I was in was one of the reasons for weight gain...but only one reason. Mostly I'm just a 🐷 piggy

PatMu · 27/02/2023 15:13

@imnotthatkindofmum I'm not in UK so slightly easier to get a next day GP appointment!

I've had investigations for rheumatoid arthritis and scans over whole body showing no major issues so has to be peri-menopause related - I felt like chopping off my leg last night and have continual pain in my arms and hands so I'll give anything a go a this stage Grin

Roggers · 27/02/2023 15:37

@ThankYouVeryMuchGerry that is incredible progress!Shock have you been following a specific plan or just doing IF?

10in10 · 27/02/2023 17:48

14.8 stones this morning

petalsandstars · 27/02/2023 18:07

I’ve just had a curry but I’d love to join in too. 14st7 and I’m 5’6 so need to lose a good 3 but hopefully 4. Holiday in the summer that I want to feel good in a cossie for!

LaRitournelle · 27/02/2023 18:28

I'll join!

16.7 this morning, I was 16.12 at the start of Jan and got down to 16.4 last week but as always I blow it at the weekends.

I had been doing 1700 calories but this week I'm going to try 1500 Monday-Friday to give me a little leeway at the weekends. I need to find something that is sustainable because I'm never going to not have a drink/meal out/takeaway at the weekend. I need to remind myself that one bad meal and a bottle of wine won't ruin a whole weeks progress and therefore I shouldn't think fuck it and turn it into a bad weekend! So I'll see how I get on this week doing 1500 cals, that gives me an extra 1000 come the weekend which means I can have up to 2200 both days and still average 1700 over the week...

Also trying to do 52,500 steps over the week, and currently trying to find the courage to message my gym and book in some PT sessions to get me back into it, I pay £40 p/m and think I've been once since last April Blush. Despite being 15st I got really fit at one point as I was going to the gym 3 times a week and loving it, I'd love to get that fitness back.

I weigh daily as my weight can fluctuate a lot so I find a weekly average more reliable, I'll post my daily weigh ins for accountability as well as my weekly average each Sunday.

imnotthatkindofmum · 27/02/2023 22:15

How did everyone get on today?

I stuck to my calories today AND I ate really healthily. I only ate one biscuit which is an actual miracle!

Got leftovers for lunch tomorrow.

linziere · 27/02/2023 22:20

Calories stuck to and same as you @imnotthatkindofmum, I'm trying to make healthier choices so rather than my beloved Cheerios for breakfast, I made porridge instead!

Managed to meet my step count but as my afternoon walk was cut short by rain and my wailing child (did not agree with me putting the rain cover on the pram), I had to resort to pacing round the living room after I'd put her to sleep in order to get to 10,000!

I had porridge too 👍

Need to sort my watch out so I can start getting my steps in. Spent most of last night and today marking (on my day off!) and full day teaching plus parents evening tomorrow so not much moving will be done 🤦🏽‍♀️ maybe I'll pace round my classroom, that'll unnerve the kids!

Hi Ritournelle,

I'm the same when it comes to overeating and then thinking 'fuck it' and going on a massive binge! It sounds like the gym has been really useful for you in the past- I hope you get back into it okay. The PT sessions sound like a good idea!

I weigh daily too (just wanted to be accountable once a week as most people weigh in weekly) because I tend to have hormonal fluid fluctuations of 3-5lbs twice each cycle so it makes sense!

I've just realised I've picked the worst week to start this as it's my birthday this weekend. Maybe it will stop me from really overdoing it!
