The Last Diet - anyone tried it?

Peae · 31/01/2023 19:37

I can't even remember why I bought this, I've read so many "not-a-diet", "no-more-dieting" books. But I'm surprised to say that I'm finding it really, really good. Has anyone else tried it?

(It's The Last Diet by Shahroo Izadi and I'm listening to it on Audible).

Never heard of it! What’s the premise of the diet?

youngestisapsycho · 31/01/2023 19:58

It’s only 99p on Kindle

Peae · 02/02/2023 22:12

I'd say that the approach is about understanding and changing your emotions, beliefs and behaviour when it comes to your body and your eating.

I'm enjoying the written exercises and although I haven't finished the book or actually started my 'last diet' I've already noticed so many changes in my attitude and behaviour. For instance I've just done three days without junk sugar almost effortlessly; this is a pretty big deal for me.

Yes, I tried last 2months but after that, I feel very lazy after that I left and start workout just

Peae · 19/02/2023 19:05

I’ve just finished the book, and it’s a mixed bag so far. This is mainly because the last couple of weeks have been pretty tough and I’ve been away from home with buffet hotel breakfasts and meals on expenses. However, the book has been great at developing my awarenesses around comfort eating. So whilst colleagues have been talking about chocolate and wine every night, I’ve done pretty well with making different choices.

Am hopeful that I’ll find it easier to eat good fresh food in the next stage of my training.

Despite the challenges of last month, I managed to lose an average of a pound a week. The best bit has been the change in my attitudes and beliefs though.

Half a stone off, things going well.

ChocolateRaisin09 · 27/03/2023 13:45

Wow Peae that's great! I think this kind of thing might work better for me as I'm a comfort eater and need to work out why I turn to food, and how not to...

Peae · 27/03/2023 20:51

I’ve read more than one book on emotional eating but this one seems to have really worked for me. So far. I’ve slipped a bit with the three weekly check-in though so might re-listen to that chapter.

If you join in I’d love to have someone to chat with!

Absolutely, I've got it on Kindle so it might take me a bit longer to catch up, but I read The Kindness Method last year (I think it was?) and still have all my spider diagrams which I remember were useful. Will revisit! Am also listening to Paul McKenna's Gastric band which is a bit weird but for some reason I thought Jedi mind tricks might work better than willpower alone 😂

Peae · 28/03/2023 07:04

That's interesting, I wonder if the two approaches will compliment or contradict each other. It'll be interesting to hear what you think.

I haven't read her other book, but I think it must be pretty similar in approach.

A pound on this weekend and my behaviours are slipping back into old habits. I have ordered the book, so I can find different parts and activities easier than with the audible copy.

Back on track and back to half a stone off. I've also introduced more of the book's stuff on selfcare.

Peae · 22/04/2023 20:48

Made lots of changes this week. Quit caffeine (which I thought impossible). Incorporating Glucose Goddess hacks. Eaten over thirty different plant-based foods per week for the second week running. Tried a new exercise class and tried gua sha-thingy face massage.

Stayed the same on the scales, but feeling a lot better about myself and what/how I eat.

I’ve stuck to the plan and it appears to be working. Had a couple of ‘lightbulb’ moments. 2lb off this week.

Sorry for the radio silence, been having really bad endo flare ups which completely derail any healthy eating/exercise, this week it was all I could do to get into work then sleep when I got home 🤦🏻‍♀️
But onwards and upwards, want to try swimming as a low impact and hopefully relaxing bit of movement.
Sounds like you've been doing so well! I love the idea of 30 new plant based foods! And you're right, when I incorporate self care things go so much better.
Looking up glucose goddess....

Peae · 03/05/2023 22:08

Hey, sorry to hear about your health problems. when do you think you’ll get to the pool?

OP posts:
ChocolateRaisin09 · 06/05/2023 13:32

Hiya, went swimming and did Clubbercise this week so I ache a bit, but in a good way 😁 Listening to the Glucose Revolution on Audible and it makes a lot of sense to me, I think I would really benefit from keeping on top of my sugar levels to keep down inflammation. Also had that awful thing of seeing two photos of myself this week and I hate the bulbous look around my middle 🙈 Mustn't beat myself up though, that makes me feel worse and eat worse 🙄

Peae · 07/05/2023 15:05

No, we mustn't beat ourselves up. Need to do that exercise on positive affirmations to bring some balance to the negative self-dialogue!

I am doing pretty well on a weekday but these bank holidays are still a struggle in terms of falling in to old, unhelpful patterns. I am going to try journaling, reflecting and planning, in order to get me back on track and tackling these old habits. It's a bit of a pain having to plan and be so mindful to be honest (I'd much rather mindless face-stuffing) but being fat and feeling tired and bloated is also a bit of a pain!

The only way I'm envious of people on Weight Watchers and Slimming World is the community aspect. I am sure I'd make better progress if I had a group to belong to and to meet up with.

Off to spend 15 minutes with my journal...

Hi Peae! I’ve enjoyed your thread here.
I’m just starting to read the book (actually starting with the kindness method) and was curious to find people that have actually had results)

NatashaKay · 15/05/2023 14:03

i just signed up for yoga (again!) this one is less than 2 blocks away. it should help with the excuses when I don’t feel like getting off my butt to get to class. it is this wed. will keep u posted.
starting chapter 4 on TKM today. on one side a bit nervous of what’s coming. on the other side giving myself to the process, follow whatever the book tells me to do and see what happens.

Peae · 15/05/2023 21:49

Hello! What would you say the Kindness Method is? I'm wondering if it'll give me much more than The Last Diet.

(Another pound off for me last week).

OP posts:
NatashaKay · 16/05/2023 14:26

good job on keeping up the good work!
it looks like TKM is geared towards alls kinds of addictions or habits one wants to change, even though it has a lot of examples/applications on food and diet. I chose to read it first to lay a bigger and steadier foundation for when i go to read the last diet. I think the principles are pretty much the same. the first 5 chapters are just data and setting up shop. maps start on chapter 6 or 5… i still don’t know.

my progress has been being a bit more mi dful of my automatic chatter.

Peae · 16/05/2023 15:59

I think I’ll skip it. That’s what I thought it was, so probably won’t gain much more personally.

there are so many more books I want to get or want to finish.

OP posts:
NatashaKay · 18/05/2023 14:22

I get you! and if this one is “doing the trick” then you are getting what you looked for.
