30kg to lose. Who else is in this ballpark?

That's ambitions - I am 51 and it's taking me to my 21 year old weight. (On the other hand, when I weighed that - or anything lower - I was never ever satisfied)

Is there anyone else in that kind of region? I am seeing a lot of threads from the people with around a stone, or a stone and a half to lose

I ran a parkrun today. My first one since 2019 I think. I found it quite hard but the first one is out of the way. Onwards and upwards!

TennisWithDeborah · 02/04/2023 13:21

Well done on the parkrun! Exercise is really helping me stay on track.

Oh No Ugh GIF

Bad weekend here. I’ve eaten all the crisps.

and chocolate.

and biscuits I bought as a gift for someone else.

RedDoughnut · 03/04/2023 10:31

I've had a bad week.
I'm still comfort eating but I had an iron infusion last week so I'm hopeful I can turn the corner soon.

I got off to such a good start. I am disappointed.
I never thought anaemia was like this, I though anaemic people were just a bit tired and run down. I'm like a corpse!

Amisillyornot · 03/04/2023 10:56

Hello all
@kirinm well done on the Parkrun!
@TrishTrix - just start today as a new start and forget the week end now...week end are always the hardest
@RedDoughnut - sorry to hear about your bad week. It is really hard when unwell to keep going. Wishing you a speedy recovery and hope you manage to get back on track soon x

SeventyPounds · 04/04/2023 07:49

Just checking in to say I'm still hanging in here. Though the scales would tell a different story - very little loss so far this week so tomorrow's weigh in is not going to be anything to write home about. However, I was listening to the Half Size Me podcast (which is very good) and someone on there was talking about the importance of recognising your own body pattern: e.g. for them it was two weeks of the same weight and then a woosh as it all caught up, then the same again.

I probably need to recognise the same in myself and it might be that I no longer weigh myself every day, because
a) I seem to spend more days disappointed than not
and
b) I want this to be for the long haul so I don't mind losing very slowly, so long as am concreting habits that I can keep it going forever

I'm so sorry to hear you're feeling so rough @RedDoughnut . Just by staying with us on this, you're impressing me.

@TrishTrix - I agree with @Amisillyornot that you just need to start each week/day afresh and not beat yourself up over whatever you ate yesterday.

@kirinm you are inspiring me to get my running trainers out and check my sports bra still fits me!

SeventyPounds · 04/04/2023 07:50

p.s. the dog turns out to hypothyroidic! He's on some meds and is much perkier so my step count is on the way back up again. Big relief (about his health) and a little bonus (for my health).

TennisWithDeborah · 04/04/2023 10:29

I read that as “hypochondriac” for a second! Was feeling very sorry for the anxious dog 😂

AndClementine · 04/04/2023 10:43

May I join? I am very short and have never weighed this much in my life. Age is not on my side either. I haven’t started calorie counting, I decided to skip breakfast one day last week to see how I felt and found that I liked it. Since then I have skipped it every day and have lost some weight and feel better. I know eventually that my weight loss with slow and I will lose motivation quickly.

Gosh that sounds terrible! I had no idea anaemia could make you feel so unwell and needing so much intervention.

I won't be weighing this week as we are on holiday and there are no scales (thankfully). Aiming to go to the gym today and managed 19k steps yesterday.

RedDoughnut · 04/04/2023 14:20

@AndClementine welcome, the more the merrier!

I find if I eat breakfast it wakes my stomach up and it demands more food!
I only eat breakfast on holidays now.

TennisWithDeborah · 04/04/2023 14:35

@AndClementine <waves> Welcome! Well done on the weight loss since cutting breakfast. I am doing intermittent fasting too. I don’t eat between 7pm and 11am. Along with a pretty serious exercise regime, it’s helped me to lose nearly 2 stone since 9/1/23. I have not counted calories. I have not cut out bread, potatoes and pasta, because that would not be sustainable for me. We’ve all found a way that suits us, I think.

AndClementine · 04/04/2023 15:14

Thank you for the welcome!

I’m not strictly fasting because I do have a coffee in the morning (and I can’t have it black yet). I’m sure that ruins the effect but I want to be realistic about what I can sustain at this point.

I am really bad for very late night snacking though so I’ve cut out everything else from 8 PM to noon the next day.

I’ve found that yes, I’m hungry, but it feels good to be hungry instead of constantly snacking. I have health issues that make consistent exercise a non-starter so I’m trying to slowly work on diet first.

Wednesday 5th April

SeventyPounds: -0.5lbs (-21.4lbs total)

As predicted, a slow week. But still it's moving in the right direction, so I take heart from that.

SeventyPounds: -0.5lbs (-21.4lbs total)
InterestingMuch +0.8 (-4.8kg total)

Morning all, hope everyone is OK and welcome @AndClementine .
Despite my last post saying I was getting back to fasting and exercising, I did not really get going again til Sun. Being up overall less than a Kg I am taking as a small sign to carry on. Managed a swift 30min walk/jog this morning. It was still cold but at least the light is now coming through.

kirinm · 05/04/2023 10:10

No idea today as no scales but I feel hefty. I need to cut back on my food intake.

InterestingMuch +0.8 (-4.8kg total)
AndClementine -1.4kg (-1.8kg total)

Good morning everyone, I hope that I’ve done that right. I have had a good start this week but expect that to slow down massively.

TrishTrix · 05/04/2023 11:52

mixed week here - trying to avoid a work deadline so I ate all the snacks on Sunday/Monday but I’ve also managed to the point I can do a spin class a couple of times a week alongside my Pilates/yoga and weights…

TrishTwix -1.3kg (-5.7kg total)

kirinm · 05/04/2023 11:53

I've managed a run and gym session. Still feeling bloated from the holiday food but definitely feel better for moving.

RedDoughnut · 05/04/2023 19:55

I'm hanging in. I have not weighed.
I'll be back next week.
Keep going everyone!

TrishTrix · 06/04/2023 08:43

I’ve just weighed (I do daily - Noom) and the last time I weighed this amount was May 2020 when I’d been running regularly for daily exercise in the pandemic.

I’m pleased. This also marks my first lost stone. (There are many more to go).

The only other time I’ve successfully lost a large amount of weight people started noticing at around 1.5stones.

I will report back.

i’m aware others on here are struggling so sorry if this seems insensitive I’m just really pleased and haven’t shared me weight loss attempt with anyone IRL as I’m afraid of failing. Not even my PT knows.

TennisWithDeborah · 06/04/2023 11:01

@TrishTrix well done!

InterestingMuch · 06/04/2023 17:58

@TrishTrix that's brilliant. You've found something that is working for you.

kirinm · 09/04/2023 16:21

I'm heading home today but I'm going to give myself a weeks grace before I weigh. I've got personal training tomorrow and also start a new job on Tuesday but hoping to slip back into the usual exercise / food routine without any issues.

TennisWithDeborah · 09/04/2023 18:53

Pretty poor weekend here, food and exercise wise.

In general, I’m losing weight via strict intermittent fasting (7pm - 11am) and exercise (weight training/12k daily steps/treadmill). It’s going great.

BUT all of this went to the dogs this week because Wednesday and Thursday were very social (food and wine until late!), and then I caught a bad cold so couldn’t manage any exercise on Friday or yesterday.
