30kg to lose. Who else is in this ballpark?

That's ambitions - I am 51 and it's taking me to my 21 year old weight. (On the other hand, when I weighed that - or anything lower - I was never ever satisfied)

Is there anyone else in that kind of region? I am seeing a lot of threads from the people with around a stone, or a stone and a half to lose

@kirinm - slow is fine, you are still losing so do not be discouraged. It fluctuates with me, this week was a good loss but I have also plateaud for weeks. before.

RedDoughnut · 17/03/2023 03:11

I'm struggling a bit. I'm having to eat more because of the iron tablets. I'm not exercising because of the anaemia.
I feel I'm in a vicious circle. Need more energy to help my motivation.
I still consider myself on a diet but I'm up 4lbs in 3 days!

kirinm · 17/03/2023 08:42

Sounds difficult @RedDoughnut I hope the medication kicks in soon and you start to feel better. Although the scales might've gone up, you know that they isn't anyway you've put on 4lbs really. It is really difficult to see the scales move upwards.

I'm feeling similarly despondent. The scales barely move despite the fact I'm exercising frequently and keeping my calories low. I don't see what else I can do. I've just ovulated and that's added weight so I guess this is it now until after my period arrives!

SeventyPounds · 17/03/2023 13:34

Just checking in to confirm i am still going, after a few days away with friends and family. Nothing too bad while I was away and am half a pound or so down following it.

Now to get back to it 'proper'...

RedDoughnut · 18/03/2023 07:28

@jaspertown how are you?

@jaspertown how are you?

I am good today, thank you so much for asking. I spoke to my GP on Thursday and booked in for bloodwork next week. I had a relatively good few days after that, I stuck to my calorie goal on MFP but my period has arrived so I'm not expecting to lose this week. Next week will tell if it's working. Baby steps I suppose!

I hope you are doing well this week!

Your body could just be hanging on to water with the tablets, It will come back down just as fast x

SeventyPounds · 21/03/2023 07:55

4lbs in 3 days has to be water weight, I think.

Honestly, it seems like somedays there are so many obstacles, eh? Does anyone else wish it all really was a simple as the theory/maths? It would be so much easier if our bodies just went "okay, you ate 500 kcals less today, so tomorrow you will weigh exactly 1/7th of a lb lighter".

I feel like it would be so easy, if the scales always matched the effort like that Grin

That said, I had about 3 weeks where I lost nothing really, just bounced around the same pound or so. It felt very frustrating. However, when I compared the total loss over the previous 70 days, including the time when I stalled, to the first seventy days of times before when I've lost significant weight = it was exactly even stevens. So the total rate is the same, even if the reality feels a bit bumpy.

I am trying to keep in mind this chart (or others that are very similar). How it feels day to day is not how it is month to month...

@SeventyPounds that's brilliant! Well done

SeventyPounds · 22/03/2023 08:02

Thanks @RedDoughnut - it's the 'woosh' after 3 weeks of nothing so it's really 3 weeks worth (I think).

kirinm · 22/03/2023 08:11

Morning

RedDoughnut ~ + 4lbs
SeventyPounds -3.4lbs (-19.7lbs total)

Amisillyornot - 0.4 kg

kirinm · 22/03/2023 09:03

I'm so disappointed with my progress. And it'll only go up in the next day or so as I'm due on. I expected to be at least a stone down by now.

Amisillyornot · 22/03/2023 09:14

@kirinm - i had plateaud as well so changed my routine a bit. I read something about zigzig calories to kick your metabolic rate and I have tried that last week. I have also changed my IF routine.

Amisillyornot · 22/03/2023 09:15

All in all I have now lost 23kgs- with some ups and downs since Sept 2021.

I'm trying to cut out / significantly reduce carbs and increase protein whilst keeping it around 1500 calories. I'm hoping that will help although I'm pretty hungry by dinner time!

Amisillyornot · 22/03/2023 09:29

@kirinm - for me reducing carbs significantly doesn't work as i feel very hungry and I do not think it is sustainable in the long run. I am on 1200 calories but all my dinners have carbs. I eat around 5pm, so that gives me at least 4 hours until I go to bed. I also have at least 2 litres of water and 4/5 green teas a day.

I definitely wouldn't survive on 1200! My PT said I should be on more than 1500 but I'm giving a reduction of calories a go to see if it changes things.

kirinm · 22/03/2023 09:39

@Amisillyornot also trying to eat a bit earlier - with my DD around 5:30/6ish. Not always possible due to work. Eating earlier definitely helps as it's normally around 8/9pm and by that point it's very difficult to moderate your eating as it's so late.

TrishTrix · 22/03/2023 14:17

Hi everyone.

Good to see the thread is still alive. I've had a mixed week. I'm calorie counting and it is working out ok. Making me more mindful and none of the stuff I'm doing feels unsustainable in the long term.

I ate out and managed to make healthy choices which made me feel good.
Then had a shitty busy day at work and ate all the food - multipack of crisps, 3 chocolate biscuits etc which didn't make me feel so great. But I bounced back. Fortunately. Got the Quick Roasting Tin book at am loving some of the recipes.
