Fast 800 diary - lots to loose

ANP2020 · 07/01/2023 09:49

Hello

So I’ve had a rocky few months with the death of a family member and a bit of a rubbish start to the New Year with a really bad chest infection and the loss of our little Guinea Pig!

BUT I’m finally starting to feel better from the antibiotics and I’m ready to start my New Year’s resolutions all be it a week late haha!

so I have a lot to loose I’m talking maybe 7-8 stone if I was to get to where the BMI scale says I should be! But I’m not going by that I’m just hoping to get to where I feel happy and healthy! I’ve never been that thin!

im also trying for our second child and we’ve not fallen pregnant yet been well over a year! I’m waiting to see the fertility specialist but I’m convinced it’s my weight stopping me ovulating. I was 4 stone lighter when I fell pregnant with my first son!

so that’s my why! Ive chosen the Dr Mosley fast 800 method did it last year and love the WOE and it’s so easy to stick to! I lost 2 stone last year but have quickly regained some due to the bereavement and Xmas!

so I start tomorrow! I’m going to be doing a 12 week challenge for myself! But the biggest part of it is I’m going to not weigh myself for 12 weeks! (If I can stick to it) I become a bit scale obsessed!

if anyone wants to join me in a bit weightloss journey! U don’t have to be doing fast 800! Please feel free but I’m going to document my days here just for somewhere to write.

Smile Hiya I'm in a similar boat to you it's seems I'm actually doing the Newcastle Diet (800 cals) and have around 8 stone to loose. I've had a bad year too with a recent bereavement and lots of stress too. Would love to keep you company
MissCherryCakeyBun · 07/01/2023 22:03

I'm using ( as is DH) a mixture of different meal replacement shakes and soups to do the Newcastle Diet to try to put our type 2 diabetes into remission.
It's a diet that's being prescribed by the NHS is some areas to help T2 diabetics.
It's quite tough 8 weeks of 800 calories, either 4 shakes or 3 and 200 Cals of low carb veggies then 4 weeks of 2 shakes and low carb meal the aim is to loose 15kg in the 8 weeks and reverse the fatty liver, then continue to loose weigh to a health BMI.
Started last Tuesday so will weigh on Tuesday.
It's easier with both of us doing it and no DC's at home
What support do you have around you with home and friends?

ANP2020 · 08/01/2023 13:34

Hi @MissCherryCakeyBun yes let’s keep each other company! Just ordered all my food shop in ready to go!

sorry to hear 2022 wasn’t good for you either! I’m hoping for a much better 2023!

ahhh yes I’ve heard of the Newcastle diet! It’s should hopefully reverse both those things! So you get repeat blood tests after the 8 weeks to see the new numbers!

I’ve done Cambridge diet before which is similar as in shakes and lost 4 stone. It was the hardest thing I’ve done but once I was in the swing of it I was off!! But I’ve tried many times to do it again managed a stone off then fallen off the wagon!!

how have you both found your first week? Nearly weigh day now for u both! Yeah I have a supportive partner who’ll eat what I eat and amazing friends who’ve seen me through many stop and starting! It’s my own drive I struggle with! I seem to self sabotage

After having this book by my bed for months I finally picked it up yesterday! Am going to follow it for a month and see how it goes.

I did keto before and the loss showed quickly in my face (lack of gluten works for me) but it was the heavy fat that I couldnt cope with and i struggled as have high cholesterol and it worried me.

So - am staring today on this. Just weighed myself and have 2.5 stone to lose this year.

How is it going so far @ANP2020 @MissCherryCakeyBun ?

I dont have any cream in yet and cant abide black coffee, so just had it with a bit of full fat milk (will work out the carbs) and had 2 babybels and 6 almonds for breakfast = 200 calories and am full to the brim (I wish 😂)

ANP2020 · 10/01/2023 11:44

Hey @JRsTornadoOfLove welcome!! Glad to hear you’re giving it an ago! How far did you manage with the keto before?

yesterday went well for me! Had some recipes from the new keto book and they were delicious! Wasn’t hungry at all yesterday but I know that will kick in soon before my body switches into ketosis! So far motivation is high! But that can change at any minute!!

I’ve had Greek yoghurt this am with blueberries, almonds, pumpkin seeds and chia seeds. For lunch it’s Caprese salad. Then dinner is cheesy fajita from the new keto book, which was delicious last night!

day 2 going well but week 12 feels an age away!!

MissCherryCakeyBun · 10/01/2023 12:41

So first weigh in day for me as started last Tuesday and I'm 6lbs down which I'm very pleased with. Stuck to it 100%
Im using a mixture of Exante Shakes & Soups and Slim and Save Shakes and Soups for Breakfast and lunch and thats going well. I dont like chocolate flavored things (But love Chocolate lol) so it narrows down the shakes a bit but still quite a variety.

Week 12 will be here before you know it :-)

JRsTornadoOfLove · 10/01/2023 13:21

Well done @MissCherryCakeyBun - 6lbs in a week is amazing! Think I will weigh myself everyday try to weigh on a Tuesday too.

Yes @ANP2020 the recipes look really nice dont they. Got the ingredients for the curry but Tesco subbed the coconut milk for a light one. So will make it when I get the proper one.

Have made keto rolls (almond flour/egg whites/baking powder and some I put grated cheese in too) and had 2 with sardines and cucumber. Very filling and tasty.

Oysterbabe · 10/01/2023 14:39

Hello,
I hope you don't mind me hopping on to your thread. I'm back on the wagon. I planned to lose 1st last year and now I need to lose 2st 😑I feel very motivated though. I start a new job in a month and I'm ready to break out of my rut. I even went out on a bike ride yesterday. I was shocked at how exhausted I was after tbh.
I'm going to be loosely doing Fast 800.

ANP2020 · 10/01/2023 17:08

@MissCherryCakeyBun well done! That’s a fantastic weightloss in 1 week! How are you feeling in yourself?

slight headache this afternoon but I’m pushing through, I’ve had some paracetamol and upped my water feel a bit better now.

ooo those keto rolls sound nice do you have a recipe?

welcome @Oysterbabe congrats on the new jo! Love that feeling when you feel ready to take on new stuff when a positive change has happened! we’ll done on the bike ride!! That is something I don’t think I’d be able to do at the moment! My exercise tolerance is so low!

I hate to be a downer, but I did do this last year and I found my hair thinned in a few places. I did lose weight, though. I regained both since...

But just keep an eye on it.

JRsTornadoOfLove · 10/01/2023 21:20

Thanks for the warning @StephanieSuperpowers will keep my eye on that!

Well I finished on about 1200 today, so way over the 800 but much better than my usual amount. Did 10,000 steps though so was pleased with that.

Had a huge piece of salmon for tea so that is where the calories were from! And 100g of greek yog with keto granola this evening.

Whatthehey1 · 10/01/2023 22:39

Hiya. Can I join in? I’d like to lose about 5 stone this year. I’ve tried the Fast 800 before and love the recipes but my will power is so shit. Does anyone who has done 800 or similar before have any tips on what kept you going? Good luck everyone!

JRsTornadoOfLove · 11/01/2023 12:54

@Whatthehey1 hi there!

Weighed myself today as I need the motivation to see it working, and it is! So that's good.

Managed a fast from 6pm yesterday to 10.30am today. Now have had coffee with a tablespoon of cream, 2 keto rolls with 15g of 100% Peanut Butter, 1 babybel and some cucumber. 380 cals I think.

So will not have anything until tea at 5.30pm and then it's roast chicken and green veg.

What's everyone else having today?

JRsTornadoOfLove · 11/01/2023 12:58

These are the best I have found if doing full keto.

Bagels
7 oz. (1¾ cups) mozzarella cheese
1 oz. (2 tbsp) cream cheese
1½ cups (6 oz.) almond flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 egg
Topping
2 tsp flaxseed
1 tsp sesame seeds
½ tsp sea salt
¼ tsp poppy seeds
1 egg

Preheat the oven to 430°F (220°C) and line a large baking tray with parchment paper.
Place the mozzarella and cream cheese in a medium, microwave-safe bowl and microwave on high for 1 minute. Remove and stir. Repeat in 30-second bursts until the cheese has melted and can be easily combined.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the almond flour and baking powder, until well combined. Add the egg and almond flour mix, to the melted cheese. Mix well until a smooth dough forms. Kneading it on a non-stick surface helps with this process!
Divide the dough into as many parts as portions in the recipe, and form into bun shapes. Place on your lined baking tray.
Use your thumb, or the handle of a wooden spoon, to push a hole through the center of each bun and then shape it further until you have bagel shapes.
Place the seeds and seasoning for the topping mix into a small bowl and give it a quick stir to combine.
Crack the second egg into a bowl and beat until combined.
Brush the top of each bagel liberally with the beaten egg and then sprinkle with your topping mixture.
Bake in the oven for 15 minutes.

Oysterbabe · 11/01/2023 13:02

Made it to lunchtime on black coffee and water without too much trouble today. Once I get used to skipping breakfast then I find it much easier. I had a huge salad and some fruit for lunch. Salad works for me because it's a lot of food that takes a while to eat. I can polish off a sandwich in 1 minute and then I'm scratching around for something else.

Tuna
Lettuce
Cherry tomatoes
Red pepper
Grated carrot
Olives
Capers
Pickled beetroot
Cucumber
Drizzle of low calorie salad cream

Apple
Satsuma

310 calories all in.

JRsTornadoOfLove · 11/01/2023 13:02

And these for basic keto rolls. I add chia seeds in some, cheese in others and make 8.

1⁄3 cup (1¾ oz.) ground psyllium husk powder
1¼ cups (5 oz.) almond flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp sea salt
1 cup water
2 tsp cider vinegar
3 egg whites
2 tbsp sesame seeds (optional)

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
Mix the dry ingredients in a large bowl. Bring the water to a boil.
Add vinegar and egg whites to the dry ingredients and combine well. Add boiling water while beating with a hand mixer for about 30 seconds. Don't over-mix the dough, the consistency should resemble Play-Doh.
Moisten hands with a little olive oil and shape dough into 6 separate rolls. Place on a greased baking sheet. Top with optional sesame seeds.
Bake on a lower rack in the oven for 50-60 minutes, depending on the size of your bread rolls. They're done when you hear a hollow sound when tapping the bottom of the bun.
Serve with toppings of your choice.

Thank you DietDoctor!

I lost over 3 stone in 3 12 week rounds of Fast 800 5ish years ago. Was thrilled, initially.

Resolved the NAFLD but absolutely destroyed my metabolism. It’s taken years to recover it.

Lost 3 of the 4+ stones regained in 2021 on the Wildfit 90 day challenge. And have kept it off. Have more energy than ever, fabulous skin and no hair loss. I’m still losing and have taken up weight training. Just had full blood works done and everything is good. Don’t underestimate the importance of nutrition, breathing, stress management and sleep on weight loss. It’s not just about calories.

AngryGoblin · 11/01/2023 13:07

Hello, can I join as well? I had a tough bereavement last year as well but I've been fat for ages so it's not just that for sure. I am determined that this year is the year I finally crack it, ideally by my birthday in September.

My downfall is wine and bread and butter and pizza and takeaways. I've been on 800-1000 calories a day since the 3rd of Jan and have been doing dry January since then too. I am using a great app called MyNetDiary to log food.

I'm trying to avoid sugar and carbs on the whole but I am eating lentils and veg. For lunch today I've had loads of raw spinach, some chilli beetroot, a whole pack of cooked chicken tikka, some peppers stuffed with cheese and a teaspoon of chilli oil. Total of 402 calories and filling. I am generally not eating until midday when I have lunch, then 5pm when I eat dinner. So I fast from 5pm - midday the next day. I have no idea if I've lost anything but will weigh on Friday so I hope so. The app says I will reach my goal weight in September which feels like ages and ages away! But I suppose it took a while to grow my fat person, it'll take a while to lose her too. From Feb I am going to drink wine but only at weekends. That's the plan. Good luck to all of us.

My tips aren't worth much since I am still fat as you like but anyway! I asked my husband to weigh me (I have no idea how much I weigh as it will just depress me) and every week he tells me how much I've lost. I also have loads of fat photos. I find logging everything helps so I use Mynetdiary to log food and it also gives nutrition and vitamins etc so that's useful. I log my alcohol free days on the Dry January app and I have a Apple watch that logs my steps. I have a personal trainer twice a week and we do strength training. Once I have lost a bit more weight I may go to 3 times a week and ask her to do longer sessions as they're only 30 minutes each. I try to eat food I like but food I don't 'need' to have wine with. So I am eating salads and soups and having the odd very small piece of chocolate (and logging it, counting it in and moving on) but won't go out to dinner or cook a lovely roast chicken with all that juicy crispy skin or anything because it will just be temptation. I am embarrassed about being fat so rarely talk to anyone IRL about it except DH because he's kind and supportive and loves me no matter what. He's annoyingly thin!

MissCherryCakeyBun · 11/01/2023 17:19

Welcome to all those that have joined
@ANP2020 thanks 😊. Feeling pretty good, my awful flu bug has gone so that helps. Had a hungry day to day but kept my nerve and didn't eat 🫢. I have a long commute on the days I'm in the office with a 50 mile each way car journey mostly on country roads so 3 hours of my day vanishes but it's a good chance to not eat to drink water and listen to talking books.
Doing roast butternut squash and veggie soup for dinner tonight best got on as I've just got in from work and need to grab DH from the station in an hour.

How's everyone else done today?

Oysterbabe · 11/01/2023 18:10

Well done Cherrycakey I'm a big fan of soup but I always want stacks of bread with it.

I'll be finishing on 900 calories. I'll take that as still easing into it. Sausage, swede and carrot mash, green beans, peas and gravy for dinner.

Oysterbabe · 11/01/2023 18:13

I'm in the office tomorrow and I'm going to cycle in. It's OK on the way but they way back is all uphill.

JRsTornadoOfLove · 11/01/2023 18:21

Finishing the day on 800 calories and 10k steps done! Now just want a loooong hot bath and sleep 😂

ANP2020 · 11/01/2023 22:20

Hey everyone!

welcome to any new joiners too 👋

so I’ve had a good day 3! Not feeling as hungry today so must be kicking in! I’ve worked doing a bit of overtime tonight so that’s distracted me! Now just having a long bath! It’s just trying to find things to do, particularly on an evening as I normally like to sit and snack all evening long whilst we watch telly! It’s my weakness! shamefully I’ve been known to go through sharepacks of crisps and chocolates to myself!!

Todays menu was a brunch of egg and chorizo omelette from the keto book, a Caprese salad (my go to as it’s quick and easy on the go!) for a middle and then a broccoli and beef stir fry for dinner! The only thing was it used a rump steak and it was really fatty so a lot of it not edible which was a shame, the sauce however was delicious very flavourful!

i was a little bit tempted to get on the scale so think my not getting weighed for 12 weeks may be ambitious but I did stay off for now hah!

AngryGoblin · 11/01/2023 23:42

That food sounds lovely @ANP2020

I was just under 1000 cals today so I’m happy with that
