Anyone else with 2.5 stone (15kg) to lose?

Hello,
I was wondering if there were a few people who have a similar amount of weight to lose as me who would like to join a little support group.
I find the massive threads a bit overwhelming, and can't relate as much to those needing to lose half a stone or 5 stone. So ideally I'd love a couple of people starting in Jan who are aiming to lose a similar amount.
I'm not planning on doing a specific diet, just eating a lot less rubbish really. My aim is to be done by July 🤞

12stone 12 & 1/2 for me!!
I've put about 6lb on in 3 months.
I'm going to do the fast 800, I've got 2 of the books so should hopefully be inspired with what to eat.

Good luck everyone.

tedtor · 03/01/2023 09:41

I would love to join in. Nice to have some accountability. I started on December 8th as didn't want to make everything harder for my self over Christmas. But have had some allowances.

8/12/22- 12.2 aiming for 10.2

Good luck everyone!

NewspaperTaxis · 03/01/2023 11:45

Not a great time to start, is it? I am still on the Christmas leftovers so had a generous helping of pudding yesterday, plus a beer (I'm a bloke) and some cheese. On top of that it's cold and raining today and will be all week so a run is not on the cards. For all that, I'm taking note of what I eat.
Today: Tea, Brown rice with tin of sardines, red onion, red pepper, beetroot...
A coffee. Coming up to noon. Not too bad.

Mooey89 · 03/01/2023 11:55

Day 1 today.
trying fast 800 except I don’t have the books 😂
fasted until 11:30 then had a a cheese and tomato omelette, veggie chicken with vegetables for dinner.
trying to up my water too.

popandchoc · 03/01/2023 12:09

Afternoon all,
First day yesterday went well. I am using MFP and to lose 1 1/2 lbs a week it has put me at 1390 calories.
Back to work today and at home which usually means i am eating lots of snacks so that will be hardest thing to resist.

Timwith2noses · 03/01/2023 12:27

Checking in in my lunch, eating homemade carrot soup, with ginger, garlic, red chilli and coriander and it’s a little spicier than I’d reckoned…!

Trying to really up my water intake, I’m rubbish at drinking enough water, but I limited myself to 1 cup of tea before lunch and had water instead. Going ok on day 2 so far!

iamloading · 03/01/2023 13:25

Day two for me. I can't do any fasting as it makes me feel dizzy so trying to to three healthy meals a day and no snacking.
So porridge for breakfast, salad for lunch and last night had chilli and rice (but sadly not the mound of cheese / crème fraiche / nachos that I normally have with it.)
Does anyone else find themselves thinking about food constantly though?! 😂

Day 3 for me. And boom the dreaded period makes an appearance.

I will not be bullied into unnecessary snacking by you!

Ayeaken · 03/01/2023 13:44

Day 3 for me and down 3lbs already 🤩 I know it's water weight at this point but still motivating to see the numbers on the scales dropping 👌

Shodan · 03/01/2023 13:44

I virtuously made myself a little tupperware of carrot sticks yesterday and I have to say, it helped to have something as easy and quick to grab as crisps or biscuits are, when I got back from the bootcamp.

I tried fasting but it was too miserable for me- I realised that my morning cuppa is far too precious to me!

MFP and a low cal, healthy diet is my best bet I reckon. So today's lunch was jacket potato, cottage cheese (which I actually love, which is handy), tomatoes and cucumber as I'm a bit light on salad veg atm. Something with chicken for dinner later, don't know what exactly.

@iamloading I'm thinking about food way more because I'm not a meal planner usually, so I have to think harder about what's low cal/healthy/filling rather than just going with whatever I fancy.

iamloading · 03/01/2023 13:53

@Shodan I think I'm mainly thinking "am I thin yet?!" 😂😂😂😂

@iamloading 😂I saw an excellent meme this morning along those lines. If I can track it down again I'll see if I can post it.

SpaceOP · 03/01/2023 14:06

@iamloading I can't do the fasting thing for the same reason - I'm definitely insulin resistant so the low blood sugar when I fast makes me feel awful and I can't function at all. It's also why I'm trying hard to reduce my calories mostly by reducing carbs - sugar, bread, pasta, booze etc etc - that tends to help me to lose weight in a way that calories alone don't. On SW, DH ate SOOOOO much pasta, and lost SOOOOO much weight. But he's a very active, healthy person and doesn't have any insulin resistance.

I've had a slightly odd day in that landed up having a very late breakfast of crackers with cream cheese and a little avocado. Slightly higher calorie than planned (due to avocado) butneeded it as was so late. But I'm about to have a bowl of pea and spinach soup which is very low calorie and I'll probably skip adding additional carbs entirely.

Dinner is salmon, cavalo nero and a salad of corn and cucumber. DS and Dh are having rice with theirs but I'll just have a very small amount of rice.

ItsMeHiImTheProblem · 03/01/2023 14:57

Day 2 for me, I was surprised that I wasn't that hungry yesterday, hope it stays that way! I did weigh myself this morning and was a lb down, so that's something!

Today I had a slice of rye bread with a thin slice of brie and a little butter for breakfast with a satsuma and two coffees with a little milk. For dinner at 5 I'm having a ready meal of beef hotpot and some blueberries. I'm being very low cal at the moment because I've got a date tomorrow! 😬 but I might stick to something similar to Fast800 but not as low carb because I can't stand the way my breath smells on low carb 🫣

afinethingindeed · 03/01/2023 16:51

Day 1 for me today. I weighed in this morning and I'm 13stone 4lb. That's exactly one stone gained since beginning of November 😬
I actually think I'll lose the first stone fairly easily if I stick to my diet. It's the weight thereafter that I always struggle with. That might be wishful thinking anyway but it's my motivation at the moment!

Feeling pretty good today though - after weeks of over indulgence, it's nice to feel hunger again.

SpaceOP · 03/01/2023 17:07

I am not particularly hungry but a bit surprised by the headache. I assume it's a sort of sugar/carb withdrawal? It's similar to when you haven't drunk enough water all day. But I've had plenty of water, as well as a coffee this morning and a couple of cups of tea.

Timwith2noses · 03/01/2023 17:23

@SpaceOP do you think the headache could be coincidental? There’s lots of bugs around at the minute.

I’ve just got my dinner in the oven - pinch of nom hunter’s chicken and homemade wedges. I’m feeling really hungry but it’s going to be another hour so I need to stay strong and not reach for a snack!

nopeasplease · 03/01/2023 17:24

Going ok so far - fasted this morning, then had a prawn sandwich on wholemeal bread with a big bowl of homemade vegetable soup for lunch. Dinner will be some leftover chicken pie (last of the Christmas leftovers) and green veg. Oh also had a handful of grapes.

StreamingCervix · 03/01/2023 17:58

My day one is going okay, I’ve stuck to upping my water intake and avoided the simple carbs/sugar.

I find once (if!) I get through the first 2/3 days, then I feel much better and it all goes pretty smoothly. I really do think I have a carb addiction, so going cold turkey is the best thing I can do to control it, but the cravings are hard to ignore for the first 48hrs

Happyface246 · 03/01/2023 18:00

Yes can I be added please x

RomanMum · 03/01/2023 18:17

@iamloading I'm thinking about food all the time! Going swimming in a bit so I'm hungry anyway. Also thinking about the interim target of 2lb to get me to the next number down in stones. I put on at least 2lbs over Christmas so it would be a good start to lose that.

Crikeyalmighty · 03/01/2023 18:32

I'm with you- had a really nasty health scare for last3 months of 2022 and found out high blood pressure and veryhigh cholesterol, I need to lose weight, excercise more and stop smoking as well as finding that gluten free seems to help with the neurological stuff I was getting- Ive lost4kg since early November but need to lose ideally about another 18. (And I will still be about 11stone if I do that)

Crikeyalmighty · 03/01/2023 18:35

Today I've had porridge and banana and a gluten free chicken salad sandwich plus a handful of gluten free deliciously Ella Rosemary triangle things

Tonight I'm on whole grain rice with Waitrose salmon meatballs stirred into pesto and some broccoli

Shodan · 03/01/2023 18:37
