Anyone else with 2.5 stone (15kg) to lose?

Hello,
I was wondering if there were a few people who have a similar amount of weight to lose as me who would like to join a little support group.
I find the massive threads a bit overwhelming, and can't relate as much to those needing to lose half a stone or 5 stone. So ideally I'd love a couple of people starting in Jan who are aiming to lose a similar amount.
I'm not planning on doing a specific diet, just eating a lot less rubbish really. My aim is to be done by July 🤞

Hello all

Please can I join? I have more or less 2 1/2 stone to loose. I am doing the Michael Moseley 8 Week Blood Sugar diet. Basically 800 calories per day for 8 weeks. Zero sugar, almost zero carbs. Mid-way through week 5 and need some encouragement and camaraderie!! I may continue for 12 weeks to try and reach my goal.

SW 13st 5lb
CW 12st 2lb
GW 11st

Loss so far - 1st 3lb

That is a great loss for 5 weeks.

Have you started thinking about how you will eat once out of the initial 8 weeks?

Pigeonpair1 · 11/02/2023 11:57

Yes I think about it a lot ..... still not sure to be honest. I can't imagine I won't ever want sugar again as I love it so much! It has definitely made me more mindful of sugar intake though - how it's in everything - not just the obvious cakes/biscuits etc. I have a vague thought that I will try to do 800 cals Monday to Thursday and then eat mindfully but normally the other days of the week. I won't be at my target weight at end of 8 weeks so may do another 4. We'll see!!

ibelieveinmirrorballs · 11/02/2023 12:07

I’d love to join please. Just started the Human Being diet by Petronella Ravenshear. It’s a three month “reset” lots of protein and veg but not entirely excluding carbs. I lost a lot of weight during lockdown on keto and getting into running/cold water swimming, and have recently put a bit of it back on. At my heaviest I was 246lb and got down to 170lb at 5’8”. That made me a size 12/14 and I was pretty settled and happy there.

This time around I’m at
SW 196.4lb
CW 189.2lb
GW 163lb

Seven pounds down and only on day 6 - most of it’s got to be water weight but I’ll take it! Feeling good and enjoying the food. I have some eating issues with bingeing and this time I really am looking for something that’ll help me long term with that after the weight loss and transitioning into normal life.

Savemesome · 11/02/2023 12:12

Another 3lb off!
SW 13st 12 CW 12st 10.5

Keep going all.

popandchoc · 11/02/2023 12:21

Well done savemesome !
Going ok here . Had a couple of days when I went over Cals but not by a lot . Did my gym class yesterday and also went swimming while my daughter did her lesson today . Long time since I’ve done lengths and my arms kill !

Savemesome · 11/02/2023 16:55

@popandchoc good effort with all the exercise! I have been trying to walk more,
But even finding an opportunity for that is tricky with 2 pre-school age kids

popandchoc · 11/02/2023 17:03

It definitely is tough with little ones. I only joined the gym when my youngest started school as i don't work Fridays.

Fidgetbottom · 12/02/2023 17:16

Weigh in day. Down 0.5lb, Not much but il’ll take it!

10.5lb down in total.

LavenderfortheBees · 13/02/2023 08:51

2lb off today so not bad. That makes 8lb in three weeks and I know it's all 'real' weight as I only started tracking several weeks after I started and would have already got rid of the water weight.

Now broken the next stone barrier at 11st 13lb so less than 2st until I'm in a healthy BMI. Roughly 2.5-3st until actual goal.

nevertakeadvicefromsomeonewhosfallingapart · 13/02/2023 11:05

I've weighed in today.

Starting weight: 13 st 4 lbs
Current weight: 12 st 9 lbs
Target weight: 10 st 7 lbs

popandchoc · 13/02/2023 11:55

Finally a loss after no loss last week. Only 1lb but better than nothing.
Starting weight : 13st 13lbs
Current weight : 13st 4lbs
Target weight: 10st 7lbs

Well done for the losses!

pisspants · 13/02/2023 12:30

No loss for me this week, I need to get better at not snacking!
Well done all those with losses this week

nocookiesnocream · 13/02/2023 13:29

Hello, please can I join! Sorry late to the group, I had all the good intentions of the new year to lose weight but have ended up gaining a few pounds. Completely the wrong direction!

So I want to start now. I'm fed up of always breaking promises to myself and I've been feeling unwell for a while and I'm sure it's food/diet related so here goes!

Starting weight 10st 9
Current weight 10st 9
Target weight 9st
Height 5ft 4

Timwith2noses · 13/02/2023 15:31

I had a planned weekend off, meal out and drinks on Friday, drinking and takeaway Sat, and pizza last night to end the weekend. I’m back to it today, have done my week 6 run this afternoon and contemplating getting back to parkrun this Saturday…

I’ve had a wrap for lunch and I think I’m making chilli and tacos for dinner. Husband has shopped and meal planned this week so I’m not 100% sure what was the right meal for each night but I think the mince is shortest dated so may as well be that. I’m feeling really positive, and fine with jumping off for a nice enjoyable weekend and then getting back on. I have a few things planned in coming weeks so I think it will be like this and consequently losses will be slower but frankly I’m all good with that. It needs to be sustainable for me to sustain it!

Doingitriggtthistime · 13/02/2023 17:00

Weigh in a day late.
Sw 83.2
Current weight 76.3

A massive loss this week of 1.3kg but we have had lots of hard weeks of nothing.
Target weigh not sure just when i feel content

Shodan · 14/02/2023 12:16

Weigh in day for me today:

SW: 13 st 3lb

CW: 12st 6lb.

GW: 11st 6lb (ish)

That's 2lb this week. Very pleased- it seems that I can have one or two 'cheat days' a week and still lose, which makes the whole experience much cheerier.

I've decided that in a couple of weeks, when I hit the 1 stone loss, I'm going to have a full English at my favourite cafe on my cheat day. 😂

Fidgetbottom · 15/02/2023 16:21

Urgh… had some fried bread, bacon and egg yesterday and I feel so bloated and weigh about 2lbs heavier today. :(

And then, today I had a massive bowl of ice cream with heapings of incredibly decadent salted caramel sauce…. I need to start meal planning again!

Timwith2noses · 15/02/2023 21:46

@Fidgetbottom meal planning makes such a massive difference doesn’t it? I’m finding it hard this week even though we have a plan, because my husband has planned but it’s throwing me because it’s not mine - if that makes any sense at all.

I’m doing ok but today so busy with work and kids stuff that I haven’t had time to fit in my run and I think that’s the first time this year I’ve let ‘me time’ slip. I promised I wouldn’t always let my own priorities be displaced anymore and it’s annoyed me but I’m not sure it could have been helped. I’m carving the time out to run first thing tomorrow instead.

I could go and do some strength training now but tbh, I’ve just finished a piece of work I should have got done for 5pm today and I’m tired. So I’m going to make a cup of fruit tea and give myself 10 mins peace before bed instead! Roll on next week and annual leave for half term.

Most of my dinners come out of the Hairy Dieters cookbook and they are brilliant. Tasty, calories clear and some v low cal with others medium.

Some non-scale recent victories:

Some jeans I bought in NY sale are now loose and comfy whereas they were bursting at the seams when I bought them.

I am feeling much fitter and my workouts are getting easier.

Gone down a hook on my sports bra.

Really enjoying my food and not feeling hungry. Not missing sweets and treats at all atm. Still longing for dirty takeaway pizza though.

That’s interesting. I think I may have the book. What is it called please?

Timwith2noses · 16/02/2023 17:12

My proud achievement today - I ran for 10 whole minutes without stopping and did my fastest mile.

I'm out for a walk later this evening as well so step count will be high today.

I have a beef and aubergine curry in the slow cooker for later and I’m looking forward to it!

LavenderfortheBees · 16/02/2023 22:35

@Daffodilseverywhere I have the first three of these books: Hairy Dieters

They are really good and I didn't realise there were more. Might get the rest. Sadly they look like they didn't keep the weight off but it must be challenging doing food programmes! One of them is currently battling a nasty illness so hoping he recovers well.

LavenderfortheBees · 16/02/2023 22:42

Just ordered the other three off ebay for a tenner 😆

Timwith2noses · 17/02/2023 07:37

1.5lbs off for me this week. Happy with that. I’m away most of next week so I’ll be slightly off plan but going to keep up with exercise so hopefully it won’t make much difference.

TheLostArt · 17/02/2023 10:37

Inching along at a pound a week. Usually walk 10-20k a day, try not to use exercise extra calories allowance in the week, no sugar since Jan 2, no alcohol in the week and goodness it's slow going. But all clothes fitting better, look much less puffy and clinging onto hope slow progress = sustainable.
About to enter a very manic 6 weeks of extra work and uni visits. taking up all of every weekend between now and end March. Obviously if I were in a book then with all the stress weight would drop off me. I am the absolute opposite!
