Anyone else with 2.5 stone (15kg) to lose?

Hello,
I was wondering if there were a few people who have a similar amount of weight to lose as me who would like to join a little support group.
I find the massive threads a bit overwhelming, and can't relate as much to those needing to lose half a stone or 5 stone. So ideally I'd love a couple of people starting in Jan who are aiming to lose a similar amount.
I'm not planning on doing a specific diet, just eating a lot less rubbish really. My aim is to be done by July 🤞

Second weigh in (at the weekend and lost another 3/4 lb, so that’s 1 1/2 lb overall. So slow but steady progress.

Last week stepped up the exercise routine (Joe Wicks basic stuff) but haven’t managed this week. One pair of jeans doesn’t feel so tight though, so that’s good.

rogueone · 17/01/2023 14:42

Shodan i always take my measurements as well. So even if there has been noc change on the scales you may find you have lost inches instead. Its a great motivator

Whydidimarryhim · 17/01/2023 15:10

I lost one pound this week which I’m happy with. I did have a Toby carvery, 3 magnums and lemon drizzle cake last week. It’s a struggle in the cold, felt extra hungry today so had lay breakfast early which then I needed lunch - I’m eating healthily. Am increasing my steps and trying to get to 10000 a day.

iamloading · 17/01/2023 16:37

Still going well here at day 15, though I'm absolutely shattered the whole time. I don't know if it's because I'm in calorie deficit or just the time of year!

Day 17. Still on track with my calories. I think this is also the longest unbroken calorie deficit streak I have ever had.

I am trying to teach myself portion control. Nothing sweet/junk lasts until the next day in my house…. If I buy a pack of biscuits, I eat the pack of biscuits.

I need to teach myself that if I don’t eat it all in one day then I can just have some tomorrow. The custard creams aren’t going to disappear when I go to bed.

Timwith2noses · 17/01/2023 17:28

Urgh, had dental treatment today - side effect of a numb mouth - I don’t feel like eating AT ALL.

I ran early this morning, and had a lunchtime walk before the dentist, all in the ultra bracing cold air! So lots of steps done today.

Lunch was a cheese salad sandwich with pom bears and dinner (when I do feel like eating it) is in the slow cooker - it’s a slow cooked chicken recipe that smells amazing, to have with rice and salad. I haven’t drunk enough water really today, but there’s still time to get more in.

Hope everyone else is feeling upbeat!

Shodan · 17/01/2023 17:47

@rogueone damn I should've done that at the start. I am taking pics though.

I shall measure tomorrow for futureno-loss weeks.

beepbeepme · 17/01/2023 17:50

Today I've had

Breakfast: porridge with seeds, blueberries, 1/2 tsp honey, a coffee with milk
Lunch: half pack Covent Garden veg soup, a tangerine
Dinner: jacket potato with yoghurt, broccoli and cauliflower, black coffee

I know that I am insulin resistant. I know that the most useful calories to ditch are sugar and all other carbs. But sometimes it's really really hard.

After a very low calorie day yesterday - almost fasting low - today has been more balanced. I made a low calorie, low fat chickpea and pepper curry but had it with a small portion of rice and about a fifth of a sharing garlic bread. I haven't calculated the calories but I would imagine a total of less than 500 for dinner, possibly less.

So.. to compensate.... DD and I have just done a 15 minute dance work out! Grin. When I had gestational diabetes, I found that lunch in particular affected my sugar levels. But if I did the smallest amount of exercise after lunch - eg a 10 minute walk around the block - my sugar levels would drop. I'm applying that learning and hoping it will help here (incidentally, the day after DD was born, I weighted 7 kg LESS than I had when I got pregnant with her. The theory is that when I'm pregnant, the PCOS is less of an issue and while I had diabetes, I was, naturally, obsessive about keeping it under control) . Certainly, i think that was part of why I lost a bit of weight over christmas - I kept my steps up and was especially good about ensuring I did it when I'd had a bigger meal.

Also done well over 13000 steps today. Although my watch didn't seem to register many steps for the dance work out. weird! Grin

11.13 - so half a stone lost and down a number which is all the incentive I need in a freezing Jan to keep going! Quarter of the way there this first target. The cutting out all sweet things excluding fruit definitely helps as does calorie counting - I use Nutracheck which isn't free but very UK friendly. WFH today so must get out for a walk - on an office day I average 18000 steps.
Love having this thread to report back to and read, really helpful and makes me feel accountable.

nopeasplease · 18/01/2023 10:11

Did 2nd weigh in yesterday - down 1.7 pounds from the previous week which I am very happy with as was expecting no loss. Was visiting friends last night so had wine and a HUGE fish, chips and battered sausage plus cakes, lots of cheese etc so need to get back on track today.

wfrances · 18/01/2023 10:55

Didn't bother weighing Monday
I was so sick last week couldn't eat and practically lived in the bathroom
So wouldn't be true weight loss .

Eating normally now so will jump on the scales next Monday .

Glad to read everyone is doing so well .
It's so dark and gloomy here I just want to eat and sleep 🙈

Timwith2noses · 18/01/2023 12:08

Absolutely starving today! No idea why. I’ve just cooked myself a big spinach omelette in hope of satisfying this ravenous hunger.

also pom bears are only 65 calories. I prefer them to proper crisps anyway.

I haven’t cooked or planned dinner for later - we have a lot of leftovers from the last couple of nights so there’s no need, but I’m hoping that doesn’t come back to bite me later, didn’t expect to feel so starving today! At 11.35 I decided I needed to cook my lunch 🤦

SpaceOP · 18/01/2023 12:13

@wfrances Hope you feel better. This time of year keeping lurgy away is so bloody hard!

@Timwith2noses I get like that the week before my period. Or sometimes, when I haven't had enough protein. I ate a small steak for breakfast the other day and actually, it did help with the rest of the day! But it was a bit odd cooking steak at 9am!!!

I am down... 0.1kg but that's since Saturday and we were out Saturday AND sunday and yesterday was okay, but not amazing. I am out again tonight so at least I'm still moving in right direction!

Fidgetbottom · 18/01/2023 16:09

Day 18. I came off of night shifts this morning and have only had a slice of cake and a few meringue nests so far.

Trying to talk myself into a jacket potato with some tuna or a protein shake (I don’t really have much else in the house right now) so I at least spend some of my calories on protein today.

beepbeepme · 19/01/2023 01:17

Not the best of days for me.

Breakfast: porridge with seeds and fruit with a coffee with milk.
No lunch.
Dinner: went out for all day breakfast, so sausages, bacon, fried egg, chips, mushrooms, tomato, black pudding and fried bread, and also a tiny bit of BFs cheesecake! But I still stuck to my fasting times.

Fidgetbottom · 19/01/2023 12:37

Day 19. Broke a little and weighed myself today….

So I lost 5lbs the first week. Gained a smidge the next and am only down 1/4lb from last week so far this week.

“Trust the process, trust the process”. -Repeats in my head lol

iamloading · 19/01/2023 12:49

@Fidgetbottom sadly in my experience that's what happens if you have a massive loss the first week. I'm the same, only 0.2kg this week so far and I've been really good, but like you I had a huge loss week 1. Think it should level itself out from next week

Fidgetbottom · 19/01/2023 13:10

@iamloading Here’s hoping! Sounds like we are in the exact same boat!

I keep having to remind myself that I am only 2 and a half weeks in. I still have plenty of time to shrink back into my warmer weather clothes before the season actually hits.

My motivation is still really high so there is that.

iamloading · 19/01/2023 13:18

@Fidgetbottom also dieting is bloody hard. Hence why so many people (understandably!) quit. But I can't quit because of this holiday in August and how I will utterly ruin it for myself if I don't shift the weight before them. So it takes as long as it takes - one week at a time!!

RicciardoPerez · 19/01/2023 13:45

Cheeky weigh in and no change.
Will weigh myself Saturday morning. Day 4 of 16:8 but more realistically 18.5/5.5 with 1200 calories lol. Having soup now with some milk roll. Feel miserable haha!

StreamingCervix · 19/01/2023 15:41

Hi everyone, glad to hear people are still feeling motivated, I had a weekend away and didn’t deprive myself but got back into it during the week. My weigh in so far since the new year is I’m down 8lbs, which im pleased with (although i think my initial start weight was a tad inflated with festive bloat.)

I find when I stick to a lower carb, it’s much easier to manage my appetite and limits my cravings, that means I don’t binge.

Savemesome · 19/01/2023 15:49

I am still on here, motivation high here for now! Lost 4.5lb this week. Went out last night for a meal and half a bottle of wine but today is a new day!

anxiousatnight · 19/01/2023 16:48

Weigh day for me. 1.5lbs off making 7lbs in 2 weeks 😊
