Anyone else with 2.5 stone (15kg) to lose?

Hello,
I was wondering if there were a few people who have a similar amount of weight to lose as me who would like to join a little support group.
I find the massive threads a bit overwhelming, and can't relate as much to those needing to lose half a stone or 5 stone. So ideally I'd love a couple of people starting in Jan who are aiming to lose a similar amount.
I'm not planning on doing a specific diet, just eating a lot less rubbish really. My aim is to be done by July 🤞

I must admit I had a sneaky jump on the scales yesterday morning and was a bit miffed to see I hadn't lost anything so far this week. It might change by Tuesday of course but not by much I wouldn't think.

But based on a couple of replies on here I did a Google and apparently the second week lack of weight loss is quite common, so yes I'll be gritting my teeth and carrying on regardless.

Makegoodchoices · 15/01/2023 17:15

Ready to start wk 3 - first week I lost 4lbs, second week I was really ill the whole time and didn’t lose but also didn’t gain, so I’m rating it a success.

Back to my plan of mostly low carb/med diet, with occasional 70% choc so that I don’t fall off the wagon. Loads of walking every day and early bedtimes.

SilkySuky · 15/01/2023 20:54

I know from experience the curse of week 2 but it's nice to have some reassurance Raindropskeepfalling

Have managed to stay on the wagon too despite my well meaning fil bringing wine as thanks for his roast dinner today.
Am sat meal planning/shopping list making for next week.

@Shodan I’m an insomnia person, it’s often worse when I’m on a diet, however in Sept I stated taking probiotics (for another reason) and vit D every day and my insomnia has improved a huge amount. It’s making me have less wool-brain as well. I’m aware different things work for different people but thought I’d mention!

beepbeepme · 15/01/2023 23:17

Not the best day today, but could probably have been worse.

Breakfast: 2 fried eggs and a rasher of bacon, coffee
No lunch but had a J2O and a coffee
Dinner: roast turkey with roast potatoes, parsnip, broccoli and Yorkshire pudding, a 1/2 of shandy.
I had a tea with milk at about 7 pm, otherwise black coffee and water.

MonsoonMadness · 15/01/2023 23:27

I would love to join but I need something to kick start me. I was bought afternoon tea at a posh hotel as a Xmas present. I don’t like afternoon tea but feel I can’t start until it’s out of the way!!
when I’ve lost weight previously it’s always been something that started in my mindset. A photo, an idea, a house move. I really just can’t get off the starting block.
I need something to give me that initial motivation.

1Step2Step · 16/01/2023 04:08

End of week 2 now. I have lost another 1kg / 2.2 lb. This is surprising as I did no exercise that week and I did cheat at the weekend. (I had some sweets and 5 drinks over the course of the weekend). I was absolutely perfect though Mon-Thurs with my 1200 calorie diet.

Starting weight was 80.2kg and I’m now 78. Motivation is still pretty high, maybe an 8/10

popandchoc · 16/01/2023 07:34

No loss this week for me but was out for a pub lunch yesterday so kind of expected it. Hoping for a loss next week!

afinethingindeed · 16/01/2023 07:39

No loss for me this week either but it was expected because I had an event this weekend which involved a lot of eating and drinking. Feeling pretty positive still really!

AFineBalance · 16/01/2023 07:59

No loss for me either but maintained 3lbs from first week in the face of quite a few challenges (period/work do) and ready for a better week. Only 7lbs till I cross into 11st something which I think will be quite psychological boost.

Sleepychicken · 16/01/2023 08:56

First week weigh in for me and I stayed the same 😫
here’s to week 2!
well done everyone with losses!

beepbeepme · 16/01/2023 09:17

Weigh in:
12 st 12 lbs (originally 13st 4 lbs at start)
Waist 95 cm (from 100)
Bum 109 cm (from 114)

Happy with that

pisspants · 16/01/2023 09:33

No loss for me at all yet but I was a pound down on Saturday when I had a sneaky weigh in! I ate too much all weekend so think that why it went back up again but at least the scales moved down a bit, if temporarily! I'm definitely moving a lot more and still keeping up at daily yoga so still feel positive! Even 1lb loss a week is a stone in 3 months, so could easily be 2 stone down by summer! here's hoping, I just need a bit more willpower!

Timwith2noses · 16/01/2023 11:42

5lb loss for me. I couldn’t help checking again this morning. I can cope with weekly weigh ins I think as long as I don’t weigh too frequently and get obsessed by it (has been known).

I don’t know what I lost in week one as I didn’t weight, and I still don’t want to get too caught up on numbers, but I’ve massively increased my daily steps, picked up C25K again and am doing dry Jan. All helping, along with increased water intake and limiting daily calories to 1600. I’m ready for another good day!

RicciardoPerez · 16/01/2023 13:53

Back to the 16:8 for me. I've had the weekend where I've still logged everything on MFP but went over calories slightly. Just had soup and some milk roll - it's not touched the sides and I'm still hungry lol!

AF arrived this morning so I expect my chocolate cravings were down to that! Must resist!

Been drinking so much water today that my boss has asked if everything is ok haha as I keep going to the loo!

beepbeepme · 16/01/2023 13:54

Walked a mile and a half so far, probably more later if it stays dry.

Breakfast: porridge with seeds and honey and apricots, coffee with milk.
Snack: a tangerine and some natural yoghurt with a tiny bit of honey. Some almonds.

Fidgetbottom · 16/01/2023 16:12

Day 16 is going pretty well. Still really motivated. Going to do an incline walk at my work’s gym whilst I am on break tonight.

The progress photos I took really showed me how flat and droopy my bottom is. So I am going to try incline walks on a treadmill to see if that helps.

PomRuns · 16/01/2023 18:53

No loss but TOM and not gained - so kind of alright.
well done everyone.

RomanMum · 16/01/2023 18:57

No loss this week. But at least no gain. Need to pull myself together for the week ahead.

beepbeepme · 17/01/2023 00:28

Ended up walking over 4 miles, so that's good. Food wise not as good, dinner was half a veggie pizza, onion rings and a j2o. Oh and popcorn in the cinema.

Reclaimtheoutdoors · 17/01/2023 00:44

Well done to everyone making healthier decisions!

I’ve been using myfitnesspal again since last week and been eating fairly normally to get an idea of my calories. I was on at least 1800 daily which is what I need for maintenance - might explain why I’ve plateaued for ages. When I calculate calories in my head I massively underestimate.

Starting from today aiming to eat 1250-1400 calories and daily half hour cardio or dumbbell workouts for general health and to boost the fat burning process!

I lost a stone and a half in the last year or so. Around 1.5-2 stone stone to go!

my current scale is in KG so:

starting weight - 73KG
February goal weight :70kg
goal weight -62 KG

I’ll do my first weigh in next week!

Yerroblemom1923 · 17/01/2023 08:25

12st 4 (and 3/4s!) SO want to get under 12 and into the next threshold! Fingers crossed if I'm saintly this wk the scales will be kind on my next weigh-in.
Really really want to be back out of double figures.
Some great losses on here, folks, love this thread!

rogueone · 17/01/2023 09:25

i have a final done to shift after shifting two and it’s proving a challenge. I have gone up and down for the past year and likely linked with alcohol and menopause.

staying focussed

SW- 178lbs
CW- 174lbs
GW- 162

lost 4 pounds in the past two weeks and sticking at it- good luck everyone

I've noticed an interesting early non scale victory - my fingers have got slimmer! I know because I've been wearing some rings in the past couple of weeks that only fit some of my fingers and now they are getting too big and/or fit the fingers they didn't at first. 😁 I think it may just be a reduction in bloating after cutting down on salt and sugar?

This was actually one of the things that made me realise I HAD to get on top of this weight issue - I was finding my wedding ring impossible to wear. Pleased to say that the weight loss so far has sorted that already. As you say, possibly bloating as much as anything?

Shodan · 17/01/2023 13:40

Second weigh in:

Last week: 12 st 12lb

This week.... 12st 12lb😤

No gain, so that's something, and I know I haven't gone over my calorie limits so I must just trust the process. Second week blip- hopefully.
