Anyone else with 2.5 stone (15kg) to lose?

Hello,
I was wondering if there were a few people who have a similar amount of weight to lose as me who would like to join a little support group.
I find the massive threads a bit overwhelming, and can't relate as much to those needing to lose half a stone or 5 stone. So ideally I'd love a couple of people starting in Jan who are aiming to lose a similar amount.
I'm not planning on doing a specific diet, just eating a lot less rubbish really. My aim is to be done by July 🤞

Day 9 down. Feeling really poorly so it has been a struggle today.

i also burnt the smoked paprika chips I lovingly made from scratch… so my chips and dips went out of the window… I saved some calories from that, begrudgingly.

Timwith2noses · 09/01/2023 22:20

@StreamingCervix that's a good shout actually. I keep lots of frozen veg in too, so can easily mix it up a bit.

@crymeout 1200 calories is v low, especially if you are used to consuming a lot more. I’ve set my daily limit to 1600, I’m usually 100-200 under but it gives me a buffer if I really want something so I don’t feel deprived. Some people do go hard and v strict from the start, but others go steady and in the long term the results are the same. Don’t beat yourself up over a few calories.

OpposableThumbs2 · 09/01/2023 22:44

Well as I predicted, the combination of a cough, period and my birthday resulted in gaining half a kilo. Definitely starting this week.

Tipster100 · 10/01/2023 06:43

I started slowly last week and was really good to begin with and then my period started which always comes with horrendous sweet cravings. Have managed to claw that back though and am 3lbs down this week. I'm really happy with that. I'm now sitting at the top of a stone so am motivated to lose again this week to see the number change which would be great 🤞🤞

Baffledismydefault · 10/01/2023 08:12

I've had a 3lb loss too. Not bad considering birthday, totm and discovering a box of lindor truffles leftover from Christmas. I have realised that I need to do some proper calorie counting for a bit - knowing how many calories were in each truffle would have given me pause before i scoffed them...

Shodan · 10/01/2023 08:34

First weigh in today.

Started at 13 st 3lb
Today: 12 st 12lb

That's a 5lb weight loss, which I'm really happy with.

To be fair, I knew I'd lose a couple of lbs just by cutting out bread and wheat products- they tend to make me constipated (sorry for tmi) but still, a great first loss for incentive.

Incentive enough even to get me dressed and out for an outside boot camp 😳

crymeout · 10/01/2023 09:44

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone else can't not have something for breakfast? I've always been like this, I feel sick if I don't eat something for breakfast, even if I have tea. Yesterday, I had an apple but that wasn't substantial enough, so I had two slices of toasts. Today, I opted for one egg on one slice of toast and will have an apple around 10:30/11. Is anyone else the same?

beepbeepme · 10/01/2023 09:48

I took another photo last night, will do that weekly, but hiding them on my phone so no one comes across them accidentally 😂
16:8 is still suiting me, I'm not hungry at night at all now.
For breakfast I had porridge made with half milk half water, with seeds and blueberries and half a tsp of honey plus a coffee.

nopeasplease · 10/01/2023 09:55

Just done weigh in after first week:

Starting weight - 69.6kg
Current weight - 67.9kg

So a 1.7kg loss which I think is about 3.5 pounds! Absolutely thrilled tbh and it has given me the motivation I need to go to the gym today.

SpaceOP · 10/01/2023 10:01

Still at 83kg this morning. I'm actually happy with that as the last four days have been a disaster with a very sick dog, unhappy children etc. we are waiting for the vet's call this moring with a final prognosis so hold thumbs for me please.

I've managed to stick to (mostly) no snacking and portion control, but have not been making any effort to actually choose low calorie food or massively reduce carbs so to have stuck with my original 0.7kg weight loss feels good. Also have been largely chained to the house so no exercise.

A friend once told me that when losing weight it's important to feel good while you're doing it. I think the context was me resisting buying a new outfit as I wanted to lose weight - even though the outfit looked and felt good. And I really think that's true. On the days I make an effort with my appearance - clothes, make up etc - I'm far more likely to stick to my diet I find. It's motivating. today I've even decided to banish the sick-dog-constant-rain blues with red lipstick and black mascara (I'm usually more of a brown mascara and a bit of nude lipstick woman). Grin

@crymeout I have PCOS and am clearly insulin resistant. If I don't eat something in the morning my blood sugar goes all over the place and I am a complete waste of space. I've been having ryvita cracker breads with low fat cream cheese for breakfast a lot of the time so I have something, but not too much. Sometimes I add a few slices of avo which ups the calories slightly but makes it a lot more filling. I can't eat smoked salmon or egg in the morning but if you can, with smoked salmon would up the protein or with scrambled or boiled egg, all while keeping the calories down. Fruit doesn't fill me up and becomes wasted sugar. I prefer to keep a fruit snack for mid afternoon, with a yoghurt or a few nuts or just by itself for the flavour and sweetness rather than for the hunger.

It's surprisingly filling and tends to keep me going until either an early lunch or I have a snack at about 12 and then a later lunch. I do eat breakfast late though - usually between 9-10.

Sorry, ridiculously long post. It's been a week.

nopeasplease · 10/01/2023 10:13

@SpaceOP so sorry to hear about your lovely dog - sending you all best wishes ❤️

SpaceOP · 10/01/2023 14:42

Thanks @nopeasplease . She's doing a lot better today, to everyone's surprise, and the vet thinks she can come home, possibly even tonight. There are some concerns about long term health, but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.

I need her back, at least partially to force myself out the door and moving on dog walks! Grin Although vet said he took her round their little courtyard garden (i'm pretty sure it's not big) and she was half dead with exhaustion when she got back. So possibly our 45-60 minute walks are not coming back TOO quickly.

BeatricePortinari1265 · 10/01/2023 18:16

I saw that some of you are doing intermittent fasting and am interested to follow your progress. I’ve started 18:6 this week as it fits with my natural eating habits, am skipping breakfast but having a normal lunch and dinner without calorie counting but am watching portion size and no snacking. Am letting myself have a few of the leftover Christmas chocs with a clementine and herbal tea after dinner. Maybe this isn’t strict enough as haven’t been hungry but I know it is sustainable and stops me grazing. My jeans feeler a little looser though!

Timwith2noses · 10/01/2023 18:56

Good day for me today. Currently listening to rain on windows and debating whether I really want to go for a walk this evening or should postpone in the hope that tomorrow is drier. I might have to postpone 😞

Fidgetbottom · 10/01/2023 19:03

Spent all day in bed feeling really crappy which will have screwed myself over for work tomorrow since there is no way I will be able to sleep tonight now….

Woke up really hungry. Should still be within calories… although I am guzzling orange juice like it is going out of style!

Rainsdropskeepfalling · 10/01/2023 22:19

@crymeout I go through phases of really wanting breakfast but I try and resist toast (love it too much). I'm currently enjoying porridge (35g oats, 200ml water), a tablespoon of pumpkin and sunflower seeds, a tablespoon of chopped nuts and either a chopped apple, pear or around 10 blueberries. All stirred in it makes a big bowl with lots of different textures and feels like a good meal. When I get bored of that I have greek yoghurt but I have to weigh it out as it's too easy to have a lot!

Rainsdropskeepfalling · 10/01/2023 22:20

I'm not enjoying the weather - forcing yourself to go out for a 5km walk or run in the dark, in the wind and the rain is hard work. Still, you have to keep your eye on the prize and if you want it, you'll do it.... Apparently 🙃

afinethingindeed · 11/01/2023 07:24

I am now on day 8 and I'm feeling so motivated! I've stayed under my calories every day but I haven't done enough exercise so I'm going to try and increase that.
I've got an event this weekend which I know means I'll go over on my calories so i am trying to build enough of a deficit during the week so it doesn't hit so hard. And I think I will stop the daily weighing so I don't get disheartened with any fluctuation as a result.

SilkySuky · 11/01/2023 08:42

Hello all, I've been lurking but am going to post stats as a lot of these threads fizzle out and the chat about a continuing what's app group sounds like the consistent accountability that I need!
Started 02.01.23. 105kg ( I am also too scared to swap the numbers to stone)
1st weigh in last Sunday 103kg
So very happy with that.

Am peri so I know it's not going to come off as easy as it has done in the past.
Have tried all sorts over the years, med diet, lighter life, Cambridge, as well as ww and SW. Going back to calories in versus calories out and tracking via mfp.

Will post Sunday stats each week.
Lovely to be here!

Timwith2noses · 11/01/2023 18:41

All good today, completed week 2, run 2, stayed within my calories and am hoping the rain holds off this evening so I can do last nights postpones walk!

Savemesome · 11/01/2023 18:54

Some great results everyone! I had my first slimming world weigh in and lost 4lb this week which feels like a good start! Need to try and keep motivated

iamloading · 11/01/2023 19:33

Welcome @SilkySuky!
Still going well here. But it does feel like I've been doing it for 1000 years not 10 days.
I'm really scared of failing and not losing the weight if that makes sense.

I’ve made it to the 10 stone 10’s (from a starting weight of 10 stone 12), so have lost 1.8 lbs. Still a way to go but am really determined this time! Doing Dry January and that’s helping

Whydidimarryhim · 11/01/2023 20:12

Ive gone off a bit - went for lunch and had Toby carvery and a small pudding yesterday but didn’t eat anything else all day.
Today had a slice of lemon drizzle, bag of crisp and a crumpet. Had two boiled eggs on toast and a rib eye steak with a fried egg. Am calorie counting as best I can. Did 10,000 steps today so I came in at 1550. My eating window was 16/8
I kept busy till mid day and wasn’t hungry this morning.
Tomorrow is a new day.m

popandchoc · 11/01/2023 20:57
