Anyone else with 2.5 stone (15kg) to lose?

Hello,
I was wondering if there were a few people who have a similar amount of weight to lose as me who would like to join a little support group.
I find the massive threads a bit overwhelming, and can't relate as much to those needing to lose half a stone or 5 stone. So ideally I'd love a couple of people starting in Jan who are aiming to lose a similar amount.
I'm not planning on doing a specific diet, just eating a lot less rubbish really. My aim is to be done by July 🤞

I'd like to join please. I haven't weighed myself for a while but I know I want to lose around 2-3 stone. Will weigh myself tomorrow for a starting weight.

Day 5 and going strong! Been intermittent fasting 18:6 and I'm well and truly in control. Fast 800 is going incredibly well too.

Borrowed a smart hula hoop from my sister and been managing 30-40 minutes daily. Already down 3lbs and 1 inch off my waist.

Bought some keto sticks and I'm in ketosis too so feeling great knowing my body is in effect eating itself.

I'm sleeping better and my skin looks clearer even though 60% of my total calories have come from fat (cream, nuts, olive oil). Love keto, it totally works for me.

It's great to see everyone is doing well - stay strong people...we've got this 💪🏻

Another good day here, popped into M&S and they have a lovely new range (or new to me) of nutrition ready meals. Picked up a couple of those for when DH and kids want a fatty dinner. Had beef stroganoff tonight and it was surprisingly tasty and really filling

Interesting that losing roughly this amount of weight is so popular and so many are joining in. It must be a common amount to have gained for whatever reasons.

tulips27 · 05/01/2023 20:00

Wow @popcornfrenzy! Leaving everyone in the shade! Are you youngish (you don't have to answer)? I used to lose like that in my twenties/early thirties.

Thank you! I'm 44 and knackered - I have arthritis in my knee and am waiting for a replacement but I have to get my weight down. It hurts like buggery and am taking co-codomol for it.

When I'm carrying less weight it hurts less - I have to do non-impact exercises and hula hooping ticks that box.

I'm determined that I'll get this weight I'm carrying off and change my attitude towards food and eating.

popandchoc · 05/01/2023 20:47

@Fidgetbottom I need to take some
photos , think it will help keep me going .

I know what you mean, I think it’s that sort of tipping point where you realise you’re carrying more weight than you feel comfortable with, and can’t keep putting it off as being ‘just a bit’ over, for me it feels like I need to confront the issue head on at this point or I’ll totally lose control (been there, done that!)

Day 3 for me, it’s gone well and actually feels good today. Getting to this point is the hardest, breaking the sugar crash cycle I get from eating simple carbs and sugar. I’ve managed to keep busy and that’s been a big help, sitting around at home is the worst thing I can do as I just keep going back and forth to the kitchen, which is making me slightly apprehensive about the weekend.

hope everyone else is keeping motivated, even if we have a slip up it’s about keeping our goal in mind and not having a ‘Fuck it, I’ve messed up’ mindset that can lead to feeling like it’s all a failure so bingeing.

Day four for me, it's gone very well and hasn't really bothered me, I feel like I've eaten enough. I went shopping for some nuts and seeds and fruit.

I had a slice of rye bread with a tiny bit of cheddar for breakfast, with a satsuma and two milky coffees. I had some vegetable soup for lunch and a ready mean chicken curry for dinner with some blueberries and a cup of tea. This evening I've just had water with a slice of lemon and a black decaf coffee.

I'm happy with how it's going. I'm managing to fast for 16 hours without problems.

Still going strong on Day 5, though my work food buddy is bringing in cakes tonight (shift workers) and I will definitely have some. Need to try and remain in control and not have too much though.

One of the things I found incredibly inspiring today was this video on Youtube called 12 week weight loss transformation! Weekly video updates by a user called Celeste Wykes.
She took a video almost every week of her body, and it was really cool to see how even on some weeks when she didn’t lose weight, you could still see changes.
So, I took some starter progress photos when I started on the 1st and it was definitely eye-opening. I am going to do progress photos every week on the same day as my weigh in (Sundays).

That's a really good idea, I might take photos every week too. I've lost three lbs and I did take measurements on the first day, but actually seeing the difference would help too.

Crikeyalmighty · 05/01/2023 21:37

@iamloading was this the 'thrive' range? I love the coconut fish curry in that range. I actually have it 3 nights a week at the moment !!

NewspaperTaxis · 05/01/2023 21:57

The sugary gruel that goes by the name of Alpen was going cheap in Waitrose so that's my diet buggered til Monday at least.
Otherwise, less of the coffee, Christmas pudding and mince pies. I'm not even on day 1 yet, but I am building up to it.

iamloading · 05/01/2023 22:06

@Crikeyalmighty yes that's the one! And I picked up a fish curry as well so that's good news!

I was 11st 11Ibs middle of January 2022 I'm now 9st 3Ibs my weight loss was very slow some months I lost nothing. I'm 5ft 4' would like to lose another 6Ibs to get me to 3st loss but don't think that will happen. I'm happy to just maintain.

If I'm honest all I wanted was to lose 1st which I didn't think I could. Had tried and failed so many times.

I exercise 4/5 times a week. I took pictures and measurements as it doesn't always show on the scales. So glad I did as have lost 7inches off my stomach, 5inches off my hips, 6inches off my thighs 7inches off my arms.

Over Christmas I wasn't great food wise so back on it today. I found having pictures to look at motivated me to keep going. Your going to have bad days where you may eat to many nice things, don't feel bad just start again the next day. Good luck everyone you can do this 💪

Wow that’s great. I find it v. Hard to fit exercise into life. Single mum work long hours. Managed couple short 3k runs this week on treadmill for first time in years but god it was such an effort I’m already worried about keeping motivation. But I’m now heaviest ever been and that stone I’ve been meaning to lose for few years is now stone and half and creeping up not down. So will hope this thread motivates!

Woeman · 06/01/2023 07:00

Oh my fucking god!!! I was dreading my first weigh in, but BLOODY HELL!!! It's so bad. 14 stone 7lbs

Week 1:
14 stone
Total weightloss: 7lbs

Rainsdropskeepfalling · 06/01/2023 07:43

@Woeman that's a great start - you should be well chuffed

Woeman · 06/01/2023 07:48

Thank you! It was obviously pure bloat!

afinethingindeed · 06/01/2023 08:04

Well done @woeman!

I am down 4lbs since Tuesday so I'm pleased.
DH and I are doing dry January so I don't expect to find this weekend too difficult - it's usually alcohol that leads me to bad food choices anyway.

tulips27 · 06/01/2023 09:22

@popcornfrenzy Reducing pain sounds like a strong motivator. I also need to lose for an operation but just cosmetic (well not totally as it's for comfort, too). I want a breast reduction and although I could do it at this point, it's far better to be at your goal weight for obvious reasons. I'd love to get the op this summer and be free to wear summery tops by late summer, I always have to cover up as I am.

tulips27 · 06/01/2023 09:25

Awesome, @Woeman 💃

SpaceOP · 06/01/2023 09:34

@Woeman Good job. It might be bloat - but take the win! My 0.7kg can't be responsible entirely for the fact my jeans feel better. I assume it's just less bloating as a result of a better diet, (slightly) more exercise etc. It's totally something to celebrate.

Yesterday wasn't great as out for lunch then replaced dinner with a giant chocolate chip cookie. But am reminding myself to focus on the things I didn't do which is helping:

Lunch was one course, no wine, no sugary drinks etc. Didn't even have a milky/sugar coffee after. I didn't have a single snack during the day at all. Chocolate chip cookie isn't ideal BUT.... let's be honest, not that long ago I'd have had dinner AND the chocolate chip cookie, probably with a large glass of wine! Grin

MrsPepperpotty · 06/01/2023 09:41

Just weighed myself and my starting weight is 14st 8lb which is more or less what I was expecting. I would love to get to 12st. Porridge and a banana for breakfast today.

Whydidimarryhim · 06/01/2023 09:47

Yesterday was good - ate at midday - well had my first cup of tea with sugar then poached eggs on toast for lunch. I then had an apple and two satsumas and then dinner was a bit later at 7pm but I had chicken with 200grams of carrots 200grams of broccoli and 100grams of peas. I had two small chocolates.
Feeling hungry this morning and meeting a friend at mid day so will eat then. Will use distraction and coffee till then.

popandchoc · 06/01/2023 11:30

Great start @Woeman !

I went ice skating this morning but don't think i got a massive amount of exercise as was holding my 7 year old up most the time.
