Anyone else with 2.5 stone (15kg) to lose?

Hello,
I was wondering if there were a few people who have a similar amount of weight to lose as me who would like to join a little support group.
I find the massive threads a bit overwhelming, and can't relate as much to those needing to lose half a stone or 5 stone. So ideally I'd love a couple of people starting in Jan who are aiming to lose a similar amount.
I'm not planning on doing a specific diet, just eating a lot less rubbish really. My aim is to be done by July 🤞

Anyone else struggling with having lots of Christmas food still around? Think I need to get it out of the house!

Yesterday didn't go well. But today I'm starting small and rather than try to make all changes at once, I'm just trying to drink more water. Hoping one good habit at a time will help.

Shodan · 04/01/2023 11:19

@mumsys I've been wondering that. I'm 54 and have quite sharp cheekbones anyway- the last thing I need is to lose too much flesh off my face! Isn't there an old French saying too- after 40 you have to choose between your bum and your face??😂

Anyway. I'm going to give it to 1.5 stone and then evaluate. If my tummy is flat enough, and my face looks ok, I might not go the whole 2/2.5 stone.

But I would like wiggle room for occasional blow outs!

Draconis · 04/01/2023 11:25

That's about how much I need and want to lose to get to a healthy weight.
Starting properly next week when back to routine. Currently just trying to eat better to feel better after being ill.

GerbilsForever24 · 04/01/2023 11:33

@mumsys the lowest I've been in the last 10 years was 70kg when I was 39. I was looking at some pictures the other day and my face definitely looked good at that point and that was almost 10 years ago now - I'm not sure that my face needed any additional weight loss even then. This is one of the many reasons why if I can get to 70kg I think I'll be quite happy even if technically, I should be something like 58kg. I also have a picture of shortly after I met DH when I weighed about 61. And honestly, my face does look a bit too thin then, and I was in my late 20s!!! I did like my shoulder blades and collar bones in that picture though! Grin

Mostly, I just really want to slim my tummy and lose the bulk of the back fat. As a classic apple shape, my legs and arms are not too bad - although could do with a little toning.

Day 4 here. I have been pretty good and consistent so far, fighting the urge to re-weigh myself.
I only want to weigh myself once a week… and Sundays will be my weigh days. I can get quite obsessed with dieting and a bad scale day (When I know I have been good dammit! Lol) can just ruin my whole day and break my motivation completely.

MrsBrandonspiano · 04/01/2023 11:50

I'm in if you will have me. I'm 91kg. I want to be 75kg. Joined WW online as I need to be accountable.

It's funny how we're all different. I'm going to weigh ad hoc but around twice a week because I find waiting a whole week, I lose motivation. Also, it's not that unusual for me to bloat or whatever so if I have a set day, and that is the day I'm feeling a bit awful, it can really mess me up. If I can see a steady downward trend, it helps keep me focused - even if it's just 100g or so.

PomRuns · 04/01/2023 12:12

I look like a different person when I get below 70kg. Weight is very ageing for me sadly.
I’m planning a treat once a stone off, then for every 7lbs.

@GerbilsForever24 i want collarbones too

NewspaperTaxis · 04/01/2023 12:27

Weighed myself today, around 13.5 stone - more than I've weighted in around a decade. Today I've had coffees plus one chocolate truffle.
It's the remains of the cheese and so on that is doing it.
I haven't quite started the new regime yet however I am not eating toast and banana or any kind of bread currently, and this does help.
I've had a bit of a laxative drink too, not as as weight loss thing in itself, but the kind of food I've been eating has bunged things up a bit.
Being overweight and putting on trousers with the button done up around the house and helped do my back in a bit, so no running at the moment.
I'm not rushing it but I'll need to get my ducks in order. Green teas and so on.

iamloading · 04/01/2023 12:30

@Fidgetbottom I'm exactly the same. I was desperate to weigh myself this morning after only two days of being good. But I know that way madness lies so I'm sticking with Monday. Plus it's an incentive to stick at it over the weekend if I know I have that coming!

Why is it, that since deciding to be more healthy etc, I’m hungrier in the morning, despite not changing my breakfast!

However, I have joined Joe Wicks plan, and so far done three exercise routines. I’m doing the basic ones, so not that difficult (apart from press-ups), but afterwards I do feel like I’ve done some exercise.

Timwith2noses · 04/01/2023 17:42

@Sleepychicken yes - but I find I’m usually cooking 2 meals anyway, diet or no. My DH will cook, I just need to ‘direct’ what he cooks when I’m dieting or he’ll load up with butter/oil etc and generally sabotage me without meaning to. I find pinch of nom recipes good for meals everyone will eat though - chicken satay and their KFC style fakeaway always go down well here for example.

@mumsys yes i think this, when I was in my teens/20s 8.5-9 stone looked great on me. Now I’m 40s and honestly I think I’m better a bit curvier - plus I don’t want to deprive myself to that extent (I lived off basically cigarettes, wine and cornflakes in my early 20s, not a healthy lifestyle). I know that around 11 stone I look healthy, feel good and fit a comfy size 14 happily. This is what I want to embrace! Any lower and I think I’d just look dreadful nowadays.

Good day 3 for me, run 2 week 1 done and heading out for a long walk with a friend this evening too. Lunch was my spicy carrot soup leftovers from yesterday and dinner is lentil and spinach daal with rice. Have a couple of speciality meringues for when I finish my walk with a cup of bedtime tea put aside for later - surprisingly low cal so a nice sweet treat (sweet tooth is often my downfall). Hope everyone is doing well and staying motivated.

Whydidimarryhim · 04/01/2023 17:55

I had a good day today - I’m finding two meals a day manageable - two black coffees and water til mid day.
Had two boiled eggs and two slices of bread with butter.
4 cups of tea in total.
Dinner was stir fry veg a tin of tuna and some noddles with garlic and chilli.
came in at 1200 calories.
I will make some soup tomorrow.

popandchoc · 04/01/2023 18:05

Day 2 going ok so far. Had boiled egg and toast for breakfast, soup and bread for lunch and having chicken and salad wraps for dinner.
Not much chance for exercise this week, working at home as train strikes and my youngest doesn't go back to school till Monday.

iamloading · 04/01/2023 18:32

Day three and still doing well here. Does anyone else wake up relieved that they didn't have a blow out the day before?! I'm trying to focus on the positive thoughts to distract myself from thinking about chocolate. All. The. Time 😂

So far: Brown rice with tin of mackerel, some onions etc. An entire Lindt chocolate Santa, with coffee. Some green teas.
I haven't quite started yet, but I am sort of gearing up.

Crikeyalmighty · 04/01/2023 18:37

Porridge pot am
Jacket potato with reduced cal coleslaw and small bit of cheese (need to get rid of cheese in house)

2 nairns oatcakes with hummus

Salmon with stir fry veg and whole grain rice

Shodan · 04/01/2023 19:48

I've been enjoying a certain amount of satisfaction in overruling my growling stomach 😂

It's like "Be still, growling tummy! I am the boss of you and I'll tell you when we can eat"

On another note- my muscles are so sore from bootcamp yesterday. Still managed an hour long walk this morning though.

DS2 made home made sweet and sour pork and fried rice for dinner. He's doing cooking for his DofE. Really nice dinner, no idea of calories, kitchen looks like several bombs went off in it.

nopeasplease · 04/01/2023 20:32

Did an aerobics gym class this morning (was horrendous but just about made it through) - then had homemade veg soup and a prawn sandwich on whole meal bread for lunch, snack of 1 digestive, a few olives and a handful of honey roasted nuts (Christmas leftovers, thankfully almost gone) - dinner will be chicken thighs with veg and baby potatoes. Really missing a glass of wine (or 2 or 3) in the evenings

PomRuns · 04/01/2023 20:55

RumItOver · 04/01/2023 20:56

I will join too please. Aiming to go from 12st10 to 10st5. Also dealing with my diasastris recti (2years post partum). Starting next week. We'll done everyone already cracking on!

Endofmytetherfinally · 04/01/2023 21:27

I'm really struggling with protein. I eat chicken most days but because of the snacks my diary is 50% fat and 15% protein which really bothers me. I don't eat eggs or much red meat. Any other ways to increase? I'm putting lentils in everything but other sources like edamame just seem so low per g.
