I’ve lost 3 stone with slimming world.
i joined in April, a month after having my daughter and I’ve finally lost some weight after years of finding it really difficult to lose anything.
i have 2 more stone to lose at least, I was 17 stone at my heaviest. I love the fact I can buy nicer clothes and feel more confident in them and I know longer feel really embarrassed about my size.
what was the best thing about losing weight for you?

People complimenting me about my weight loss (although not thinking I had lost much).
Feeling lighter and more mobile.
Being able to turn down takeaways and saving money.

@TalkToTheHand123

amazing! It’s so good when people notice too

Well done op!

RosettaStormer · 13/11/2022 15:34

I need to follow this thread as I have four stones to lose! I’ve started with MFP today.

milkfromthesleepycow · 13/11/2022 15:39

Being able to run- did 10 miles today

Realising what food I actually liked- I only have the high calorie desserts that I really want. Been turning down dessert at the ILs a lot and it's quite liberating

Catching sight of myself in a mirror and not wanting to cry. Always brings a little smile now

TalkToTheHand123 · 13/11/2022 15:44

Knowing I can actually do it and with relative ease exercise-wise as I wasn't far off giving up.

TalkToTheHand123 · 13/11/2022 15:47

@milkfromthesleepycow , oh yes and CCTV also as moving to a different building with lots of CCTV in a few weeks.

I think watching myself on CCTV was the big wake up call also from what I remember.

Runnerduck34 · 13/11/2022 16:56

Love this thread as I've got 3 stone to lose and strugglng, placemarking in the hope of Inspiration!

Runnerduck34 · 13/11/2022 16:56

Ps congratulations to everyone!

QueenOfTheMetaverse · 13/11/2022 17:37

Running for a train or bus without feeling like I was dying

No more pain in my knees

Not sweating as much

nosexsos · 13/11/2022 17:41

Everything!! Lost 4.5 stone since firmly taking myself in hand in June post menopause (was 16.5 stone!!). Now I actually want to leave the house without trying on 5 different outfits to find best disguise, confidence has soared, brought down 5 bags of clothes from attic I never thought would fit me again (but had kept in desperate hope!). Getting lovely comments & heading on holiday without dreading the swimsuit!!

DuckWithOneWing · 13/11/2022 17:46

I'm the opposite @nosexsos ! Before I used to just throw anything on because I always looked awful anyway, whereas now I actually care what I wear.

The best bit for me is just being able to do things without caring about my weight. I still can't quite believe I went on a barrel train a few weeks ago because I would never have done that before.

Suprima · 13/11/2022 17:49

Don’t get sweaty in summer

Can look chic in a bun, t-shirt and jeans, whereas in a bigger body I would need to be a lot more trussed up to feel good

Don’t hide from cameras and can enjoy memories when looking back rather than thinking about how huge I am

Running and other exercise is a million times easier- can now enjoy my body more

Woodlandcritters · 13/11/2022 17:55

First off well done on the weight loss!

I lost went from a size 16/18 to a 12 and the main high points for me are...

Wearing clothes without them riding up and getting uncomfortable

Fitting into chairs, cinema and plane seats with room to spare and not squashing up against other people

Walking and moving around more easily without getting really out of breath

Being less sweaty in summer

Kwackerly · 13/11/2022 18:16

I lost 4st this year. Really enjoying clothes again! Going from 18 to a 10-12 still feels so weird, every rime I see myself I feel amazed. Took me 15 years to get up the willpower!

Also really enjoying exercise and feeling stronger, less sweaty, no chub rub, feeling confident rather than always self conscious.

FatGirlSwim · 13/11/2022 18:39

I actually really hate people commenting.

Being able to move more easily / getting fitter is my favourite thing about losing weight, and being able to buy clothes because I like them and not just because I can fit into them.

Laneyy · 13/11/2022 18:42

I was 18 stone 1 I'm now 9 stone 7lb and a size 8-10. I feel so much lighter I hurt less. I feel normal and I'm not self conscious. I have so much more stamina. My body has coped well skin wise having a tummy tuck in 10 days but that will be it. 😃

Laneyy · 13/11/2022 18:44

Only negative I'm so cold all the time and I feel feel physically less strong. I'm starting to weight train to get some strength back.

Essexexile · 13/11/2022 18:57

Going down from a 12/14 to an 8/10 having lost 8kg and still going down.
Realising that I can be motivated and that I enjoy walking.
Looking at myself in the mirror and feeling proud of myself
Having more confidence

Essexexile · 13/11/2022 18:58

Oh and the being able to wear clothes I’d hung onto for ‘one day I might get into again’ and I can 😁

Prettybubblesintheair · 13/11/2022 19:05

Seeing a dress in a shop window and knowing I’ll be able to buy it in my size. Being able to walk on to a rollercoaster and know I’ll fit with room to spare! Playing at the park with my kids, enjoying going for a walk, not feeling ashamed and like I have to apologise for my existence! I started at 18st I’m now 12st 7lb. I’m only 5ft 2 so I need to loose 2-3st more.

Twizbe · 13/11/2022 19:19

Feeling well and healthy.

I've lost almost 2 stone following an endometrial ablation and Noom.

I feel sooooo much better in myself

ehb102 · 13/11/2022 19:43

The smugness that I did it, I was strong enough to lose weight through diet and exercise .

Shame my hormones and disease have wiped the smugness from my face.

minticecreamisjustok · 13/11/2022 19:55

Great inspiration here, I need to lose 3 stone for my health to reverse the damage of a fatty liver also I don't want to go through another summer feeling self conscious about my flabby arms. No takeaways for two weeks which is a start.

Guitarbar · 13/11/2022 20:00

Cliche, but my health. I went from 17 stone to 10 and I find everything easier. I don't have to drag myself out of bed anymore, I can run round after DS, I just feel far more energetic and my mental health is also miles better, also went from being pre diabetic to the all clear. I must admit being able to wear a wider range of clothes is amazing as well, wearing what I like rather than what fits and looked alright. Losing weight on my face has completely changed how i look and for the first time in my life I don't hate my reflection.

It actually makes me teary thinking about it.
