Cambridge Diet (aka 1:1) - Autumn 2022

ThierryEnnui · 01/11/2022 15:00

Can't see an active thread for the Cambridge Diet at the moment, so thought I'd start one!

Been on plan (Step 1B) since end of September and am approaching the 2 stone lost mark. I did Cambridge almost a decade ago and it was a very different diet (product wise) back then. I much prefer the variety and the general flavours they have now and am finding it weirdly easy to stick to.

Anyone else currently following the diet?

Weighed in yesterday and lost 8.5lbs! Shocked but glad to have had a nide boost to start the year off! 2st 4.5 altogether now. Hoping to hit the 3st mark by valentines day!

Holidayhomehell · 10/01/2023 19:21

Wow that’s amazing @Fluffypinkcushion well done!! 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻

I have a lot on this week…a meal tomorrow evening and I am also away this weekend too. I am going for damage limitation by sticking to plan every other day. But I anticipate I may gain next week. After that I don’t have anything on until the 10th February so would like to try and get to 2.5stone loss by then

CreepingCrone · 10/01/2023 22:35

Amazing progress, ladies 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 I'm still feeling a bit post-covidy and not really with it. Am struggling to drink enough water and headachey (due to lack of water). Am still on plan (Step 2 now) and havent cheated, but a bit in the doldrums as I'm on a such long journey. Hopefully some proper sleep will help 🤞🏼

Jenelliot · 15/01/2023 15:45

Hello people, I have been looking for a cambridge diet forum for so long! It really did help me the last time I did this diet. I am a more mature lady with a lot of weight to loose roughly 6stone, although I would be happy with 3 at the moment. I did manage to loose 4 stone twice following the diet and felt great, but I have been struggling with any diet at the moment so just reading your posts is motivating me to try again so thankyou! I do have unused products in my cupboard so I will start again in the morning with a shake. I know it works, and I have a wardrobe full of smaller clothes and a Greek holiday booked for June, so here goes!

CreepingCrone · 23/01/2023 21:04

How is everyone faring? I'm so close to the 2 stone mark. Hopefully this week 🤞🏼 I've been battling a couple pulsing for a takeaway for 3 weeks. I've not given in when my family have been troughing. Spoke to my Co sultant and she had a great suggestion: to try some more varied Step 2 recipes. As I'm veggie, I've had to adapt them, but I had curry and chilli last weekend. Spag bol with courgetti this week. And I'm trying airfryer S&P quorn at the weekend. It was definitely a good idea to mix things up a bit. I've been using Nutracheck app to keep track, as it's a good habit in preparation for moving up the steps, and ultimately maintenance 🤞🏼

CampervanKween · 03/02/2023 22:26

Anyone still doing Cambridge? I started last week at 175lbs and was 167 when I weighed this morning so really pleased with progress. I realise that's first week and the loss will tail off now however I remember last time I did this how motivating it was to drop weight so speedily.

I want to get to 155lbs then maintain. That's a comfortable weight for me at 5 foot 7.

CreepingCrone · 04/02/2023 11:19

Wow, well done, CampervanKween! What a great start, bet you feel really motivated with that win 😁 I'm still here, am nearly at my halfway point sos till have a long way to go but am feeling great and in control. I'm having a big clothes clear out today, can't wait to see what I can fit into!
BTW love your name. I swapped my campervan for a mini-moho at the end of last year, as the rock n roll bed was annoying me. Hope you've got lots of fun trips booked!

CampervanKween · 04/02/2023 13:19

Thanks. Well done so far. I love it when you can start clearing out clothes and trying on things that haven't fitted for ages. Great fun.

We have quite a few festivals booked this year so want to be slender so I can waft around feeling cool 😎

Determined to do as much caravanning as we can this year definitely. We love it. Boys still love coming with us (eldest is 21 and has grown up caravanning, he's big into fishing now so we tempt him away with trips planned round easy access to the sea)

CreepingCrone · 11/02/2023 18:26

Happy Saturday, everyone! I've finally reached my halfway point, "only" 2st 10lbs to go and it seems like a dream because that is a "normal" amount of weight to lose. When I started in November, I said to myself I would give it a day, and I thought that would be impossible. Only a few lbs u til I'm just overweight, rather than obese. My OH suggested getting a takeaway for Valentine's Day, but even the thought of that makes me feel uneasy, so I might just have my huge, step 2 salad while he has a takeaway 😆 My consultant mentioned going to Step 3 and I find thay terrifying. I'm so scared of ballsing it all up when the worst bit is done. An update on my clothes clearout: I took a car full to the charity shop and have bags and bags to list on ebay. I've bought some 2ndhand size 16 jeans which actually fit, and I'm going to have to stop wearing my black size 18s as I need a belt to stop them falling down round my ankles! Still another two wardrobes to sort through. I've chosen some too small trousers as my measuring pair, bizarre to think they will fit in just a few weeks. I'm away in my van next weekend and have decided to have 1 pub meal with friends, but stay on plan (step 2) for the rest of the weekend. Its important to me that I learn to trust myself and not be scared around food, because I can't stay on shakes forever 🤷🏻‍♀️

CampervanKween · 11/02/2023 21:34

That's amazing. Many congratulations. You should be really proud of yourself, it's so hard. You've done brilliantly. An absolute inspiration.

Everything will look better on now. You'll be healthier and lighter on your feet. I used to watch The Biggest Loser years ago and about halfway through they used to make them do a race. They started with a rucksack of all the weight they'd lost on their backs, and they were amazed at the extra weight they'd been carrying around. At each stage they got to discard the weight they'd lost the first week, second week and so on. By the end of the race all the weight had been dropped. Was a real good visual to them of how far they had come.

You should try it, bet you'd be amazed how heavy that weight you have lost is. Will be so beneficial for your joints and overall well being.

CreepingCrone · 12/02/2023 09:26

😘 You've set me off 😢 it does feel like a big deal. Having struggled with my weight all my adult life, I have a notebook of my Wright going back decades. I haven't been under 14st since 2018!

CreepingCrone · 14/02/2023 14:52

Note to self:
adding orange w/flavouring to a choc shake does not make chocolate orange 🤢 #bigdisappointment

CreepingCrone · 21/02/2023 20:53

Week 14 for me. Am hoping to be close to 3 stone off. Am I the only one left? 😥 Am feeling pretty good, struggled with the temptation to go off plan at the weekend but reined it in. Bought some size 16 combats (too big), and some gorgeous size 14 cobalt wide leg jeans (currently too small, but give me a few weeks)! Am still not keen on stepping up to step 3, but let's see what next week brings 🤷🏻‍♀️

CampervanKween · 21/02/2023 22:21

I've just restarted yesterday. A lovely lady on ebay messaged me and sold me 64 products for a v reasonable price. She's lost her weight far more quickly than expected so didn't need them anymore. So I'm motivated and raring to go. 2 days in. Started at 12 stone on Monday. Want to get down to 10 1/2 stone if possible.

CreepingCrone · 22/02/2023 09:16

Brilliant, what an amazing find! I dream of being 12st, but I will get there 😁 I have to say, aim feeling the pinch financially. We've had an expensive couple of months with Eldest at uni and then last week a leaking bathroom (another £500 gone 😥). I ended up supplementing my 121 order with some shit-shakes from another diet company. They weren't as nice, but they've kept me on an even keel and on plan 👍🏼

CampervanKween · 22/02/2023 12:03

My eldest is at uni as well. In his final year, its flown by but yes can be expensive. Middle one doing A levels atm but then taking a gap.year and looking more towards an apprenticeship I think.

I'm fully stocked up and 11 stone 12lbs this morning. I love the way the weight falls off when you get in the zone.

Emilymay1993 · 27/02/2023 16:24

I have just met my consultant and plan to start tomorrow on 1b. Your messages have given me so much inspiration thankyou

JoanCandy · 28/02/2023 12:58

Hi everyone !
So pleased to have found this thread.
I went on 1:1 (Cambridge) last March and quickly lost 2 1/2stone - only took around 8 weeks. My consultant didn’t warn me about the constipation, however, and I ended up feeling really rough because of it which really put me off carrying on. She didn’t mention the fibre powder or anything !
Anyway, a few weeks later I started with another consultant who seemed to know her stuff better than the first one but I just couldn’t get back into it. I kept off the weight successfully but I didn’t lose any more.
Then I split with my husband at the end of September … and I just ate my pain away 😂
Now I’ve almost put everything I lost back on and so started again yesterday, much more determined and not having the constant temptation there of husband bringing home takeaways, chocolate etc (although I didn’t cave in at all).
I’m on three products a day, starting weight 15st 2 1/2lbs 🫣 I’m 5’2” and 54 years old 😘

CreepingCrone · 01/03/2023 05:00

Hello and welcome, JoanCandy and Emilymay1993!
I'm still ploddong along. Was away last weekend with my OH , and had a few meals out. Had been really excited about them for weeks and weeks, but then they weren't that great 😣 veggie food is so hit and miss qhen eating out. Felt that the food hadn't been worth coming off plan and have been really grumpy all week in case my losses are affected. Got straight back on plan on Sunday, and have stuck to it like glue ever since! Have another family meal out on Sunday (anniversary of my mum's death), so will just to make the best choice I can on the menu. Weigh day is Thursday, am keeping everything crossed!
Also, am dithering about my target weight. Quite fancy dropping it by another half a stone, but the thought of moving the goal posts is a bit demoralising 🤔

JoanCandy · 01/03/2023 08:45

Hey @CreepingCrone
It’s so difficult isn’t it when special occasions and family gatherings are booked. Last night I had my sister and niece over for a long planned evening with a takeaway - it was only my day two but I made the best low carb, low calorie choice that I could and just worked around it that way.
That’s it now though, I shall be turning down invites to meals out for a month or so until I’m back into the swing of it again !
How do you all get on with the potential ‘loo’ issues ? 😬
Someone mentioned using milk in hot drinks further up the thread, I had a splash of skimmed milk in all of my drinks and it didn’t harm my losses one bit.

CampervanKween · 01/03/2023 09:50

Morning all 😊 glad to see a bit of life on this thread finally. I have to say that I have milk in my tea and I also put a little bit of fruit in with my smoothies (berries usually, have them in the freezer) and some ice and some plain fat free yoghurt just to help with the constipation possibility.

Diet still works well for me. I'm down a few more lbs this morning despite having to work round meals out. Another one this weekend for my friend's birthday. You have to live your life. I eat what I want then straight back on plan the next day (hangover allowing)

CreepingCrone · 01/03/2023 14:00

@joancandy I did have "loo" problems in the first few weeks, and think drinking more water was the best solution. I did buy a pot of fibre, but it nearly had the reverse effect! I have IBS-C, so am prone to being bunged up once I got into the routine of Step 1b, things were fine. In fact,t I very rarely have IBS symptoms now, and will be keeping up the idea of 4 small meals a day. The only flare up I had was over Christmas when I went to town on Brussel sprouts! I'm on Step 2 now, and find a large salad or cauli rice helps things along. Also, I never have more than one bar a day, they are solid little things!

CreepingCrone · 01/03/2023 14:04

Jelly is my life saver at the moment. It's so nice having something I can choose to eat, rather than have to. I'm veggie so wasn't thrilled at the prospect of beef gelatine tbh. I have tried vegan agar-based gelatine, but it wasn't very nice, so this is my compromise for now. Mix-a-mousse is pretty expensive for what it is. My top tip is to get a 500g tub of cold-activated gelatine from Amazon for £14, rather than 100g of MaM from 121 for £7/8!!!

JoanCandy · 02/03/2023 13:55

Hi folks ... agh, I'm struggling today, day four for me. The foggy brain and achey muscles are bringing me down.
I had a sneaky weigh today - I'm down 3 1/2lbs. Seeing my consultant tomorrow to pick up next week's products and have my first 'official' weigh in with her. I'm happy with that. I'm itching for the fog to lift and for that amazing keto buzz to start !
I'm out this evening but I'll just be sitting down watching a show, no food involved 😁
Great tip about gelatine, @CreepingCrone - cheers for that.

CreepingCrone · 03/03/2023 13:00

Brilliant, @joancandy! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I'm chugging along. Feeling very tired this week and incredibl6 bunged. Not the best for weight day. 3st 1lbs lost to date. Only another 3 to go then I'm no longer obese, merely overweight 😁 Am drinking so much water to get my guts moving, hopefully will feel better later on. Have jobs to do today, but might factor in a siesta as a treat. Hope you all have a great weekend 😊
