Cambridge Diet (aka 1:1) - Autumn 2022

ThierryEnnui · 01/11/2022 15:00

Can't see an active thread for the Cambridge Diet at the moment, so thought I'd start one!

Been on plan (Step 1B) since end of September and am approaching the 2 stone lost mark. I did Cambridge almost a decade ago and it was a very different diet (product wise) back then. I much prefer the variety and the general flavours they have now and am finding it weirdly easy to stick to.

Anyone else currently following the diet?

Hello @CreepingCrone welcome! It's a great feeling when you are taking control of something that means a lot. I keep reminding myself that I'm not depriving myself, I'm actually doing something good for myself. Plus it won't be forever. You are so lucky not to be having the temptations of family meals. I made a stew yesterday and it was hard smelling it all day. I'm definitely going to try your tip of coriander etc

@Holidayhomehell you are doing so well - 17.5lbs is amazing! Are you feeling a big difference?

How much have you all to lose? I have about 3 1/2 stone to lose. I'm just taking it half a stone at a time.

I feel for you. I can't imagine being that strong. Well done! I think I'd end up cooking them stuff I hated as a self-deterrent 🤣 I steer clear of the fridge. Fortunately I've emptied all the stuff I like, so its mainly meaty yuk and their faves. My DH has always done the food shop, which makes it much easier for me

Holidayhomehell · 15/11/2022 20:56

Yeah I feel much better already. I was this weight a few months back so I am angry at myself for letting things get so bad. But I need to focus on the positives!!

I have another 3.5 stones to lose to get to a healthy bmi. But 2.5 stones until my initial goal. I think if Christmas wasn’t coming I could potentially get there by the end of January! But realistically I will take longer.

I have some nights out coming up so that will slow things down. Hoping it doesn’t mean I stop losing!

Fluffypinkcushion · 16/11/2022 12:10

@CreepingCrone Welcome! Im finding this little group really helpful so hopefully you will too.

@Holidayhomehell I like your little motto, i might have to borrow that. Have been feeling very deprived this week. Have had to take the dog out for walks when the family have been eating. Its the smell of it cooking that does me i think! Ive not craved anything sweet like i thought i would, but missed sitting down for a "proper meal" this week. I have however, hit the stone off mark this morning so that has cheered me upand spurred me on. Official weigh day and measure is tomorrow. So hoping for a tiny bit more (as you do!)
Ive got about another 4 to loose but will see how i feel. That will put me down to mid healthy BMI and basically the same as i was when i was at university (and thought i was fat 🤣, oh to be that weight again!)

CreepingCrone · 16/11/2022 12:17

Well done, @fluffypinkcushion! A stone is a hell of a whack to loose. I'm not sure how mynfirst week's loss is going, butbI am wearing 'smaller' jeans that were too tight! And I can sit down in them and everything! 😄 Am trying to manage risk by avoiding meals out in the next couple of weeks and regimenting eating every 4 hours. First weigh in tomorrow. Not a full week as I started on Saturday 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

CreepingCrone · 17/11/2022 14:29

Hi lovelies, I've just had my first weigh in after 5 days (I started on Sat). 7lbs off. I'm dead chuffed and even more focused for the next week. My consultant and I talked about unavoidable events, like my works Chrimbo dinner, and I feel much better about having strategies in place. Am hoping for a good loss next week as it will be a full week 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

Holidayhomehell · 17/11/2022 18:28

Well done @Fluffypinkcushion and @CreepingCrone !!

I am out tomorrow for a late lunch and drinks. I’m scared I ruin all of my hard work, but equally want to enjoy it. It’s with friends and it’s been planned for ages.

Mostlygrumpy · 18/11/2022 07:29

That's amazing @CreepingCrone well done 👏🏻 you must be thrilled.

My first weigh in today and I'm 5lbs down, I'll take that considering I have my period too. I'm pretty pleased and motivated to get another good loss next week.

@Holidayhomehell hope you have a great night! I have my works do in a couple of weeks too and like you am nervous I'll ruin things but we need to live our lives too. I think we started at a bad time on the run up to Christmas haha x

Mostlygrumpy · 22/11/2022 17:18

Hi, is anyone still here? How you all getting on? I'm on Day 12 here and powering on. Seems I've lost 7lbs so far which is good. Ive struggled today, I'm missing real food. But I keep thinking of how much better I'll feel in a few more weeks. Been saying no to everything in the office! They can bugger off with their Celebrations lol

CreepingCrone · 22/11/2022 20:50

I'm here, @mostlygrumpy 👋🏼 I'm on day 10 (or is it 11). Am definitely wanting a massive plate of proper food washed down with a hot chocolate! I know I'm not actually hungry, because I've just had spag bol. So I'm sat trying to work out where this urge to eat is coming from if not from hunger 🤔 Like you, I've been dodging any social engagement. I can't avoid the work Christmas do so have discussed a strategy with my consultant. Could completely do without Christmas and Mt birthday 😖 Wish I could hibernate and avoid all temptations

Holidayhomehell · 23/11/2022 00:40

Hi, I’m still here 👋

I only lost 1lb this week. Slightly disappointed because I’ve worked hard, but also had my day out on Friday which was wonderful!

I’ve lost 18.5lbs in 3 weeks. Consultant said I was due a week where I didn’t lose as much too? Who knows!

I have another night out on Friday - wish I could cancel but suppose life doesn’t work like that. Will keep going.

@Mostlygrumpy i know it’s not the easiest time of year to start! However, if we hadn’t we might be even heavier by Xmas.

Holidayhomehell · 26/11/2022 09:09

How is everyone doing?

I’ve had a good week on plan. Saturdays are hard but I am busy today until about 2pm so that will help as won’t eat my first product until then.

Hoping I get a better loss on Monday.

The only “cheat” I’ve had is two cans of diet irn bru. But I was reading the pack I was given when I joined and it says to minimise them - doesn’t say it will impact weight loss.

QuietGreyRock · 26/11/2022 09:27

May I join you all please?

Currently on day 3 of plan 1b. Previously lost a stone and then went back to old habits with birthdays etc and gained it back.

Current plan is to be fully on plan until Xmas day and have 1 day off. Then set a goal for another 30 days and so on.

Finding I have much more free time on my hands when I'm not eating all the time or day dreaming about food.

CreepingCrone · 26/11/2022 17:20

Hi all, Happy Saturday. Weighed myself this morning and was ruddy amazed. 1 stone in 2 weeks! Am feeling pretty good. Have got in thebswing of it and just started meeting friends for walks and tea. No-one cares if I have herbal tea. Both my friends tucked into huge slices of cake today, so I had a shake n go, and that was OK. Didn't feel too hard done by. Have bought some different flavour drops and Skinny Food Co zero calorie syrups togive variety to shakes and porridge. Today I tried half a pack of Konjac "slim rice" stirred into my spag bol for tea. It has no flavour and bulked up the portion to a satisfying bowl full. I'll definitely keep doing that for tea. Does anyone else have any hacks or tips to make things more interesting?

motheroreily · 26/11/2022 17:29

Hello can I please join?

I'm on step 2 and just done my first month. I've lost 8 lbs so far. I'd like to lose 2 stone.

The second week was the hardest for me. It took a while to work out which products I liked. I struggled to finish the Thai green noodles and i thought I'd love them. I mainly have golden syrup porridge, spaghetti bolognase, pesto pasta and chicken noodle soup. Some of the bars were nice too and the caramel bites but I didn't find them so filling.

The more the merrier! Yes, I cannot bear the Thai noodles either. Don't mind the leek & potato soup, but my faves are spag bol & chicken noodle soup. I have original porridge in the evening and a choc shake for brekkie. Hate fake fruit things, so have avoided the fruity shakes, smoothies & bars.

Hi! Well done on your loss, that's great. I'm also a fan of savoury meals. I'm good with a bar and tea in the morning then the chicken noodle soup is my favourite for lunch. I like the spaghetti bolognaise. I also ordered loads of the pesto pasta but I can never get it right. I'm also very "bunnged" up and my lovely consultant dropped off the fibre. Hoping this helps. I made my family salmon and potato croquettes and was nearly dying tonight

That's amazing! It's so hard to stay focused but you seem to be too. I've been to McDonald's twice in the last 2 weeks. The first time I had a coffee and it was disgusting then today with my friend I had a tea and had my caramel bites while they all ate their burgers. I didn't feel that bad as I kept reminding myself I'm doing this for me. It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks or their opinions. One step at a time xx

Mostlygrumpy · 26/11/2022 22:08

@ThierryEnnui & @Fluffypinkcushion are you still ok?

Mostlygrumpy · 26/11/2022 22:10

I could really go a can of Diet Irn Bru or Diet Coke!

Holidayhomehell · 26/11/2022 23:04

Welcome to those of you who are new! It’s good to have more people here…

Saturday night is coming to an end and it wasn’t too hard. I’ve come to bed and left DH watching TV. I feel a bit hungry and don’t want to be tempted.

@CreepingCrone thats amazing you’ve lost so much 👏🏻 no tips here I’m afraid, I just eat my 4 products as they are and don’t change or add anything!! I drink the vegetable drink in between and find that really helpful. I actually really like it.

Im getting fed up of the tikka style curry and don’t think I can stomach the Thai one again either. Still liking the chicken noodle soup and love the syrup porridge. Lemon bars are lovely, as are the apple/oat ones too.

Not sure what savoury meals I will chose next week. Getting a bit fed up of them all now.

CreepingCrone · 26/11/2022 23:43

Oh my god, @mostlygrumpy! You have nerves of steel to sit in McDonalds and stay on plan! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

QuietGreyRock · 27/11/2022 10:46

Now on day 4 and feeling so proud of myself this time around.
Yesterday I went to Asda, an Indian supermarket, pound stretchers and an Indian takeaway.
I then sat and wrapped presents whilst my partner ate his yummy Indian food and ice cream after.

Normally I'd have thrown in the towel and joined him but I stayed on plan.

Going to order the veg flavouring next time I order as hear such good things about it.

Holidayhomehell · 28/11/2022 23:58

Weighed in this morning and lost 3.5lbs. I have lost 22lbs in 4 weeks 😊
