I started ozempic last night

Going to log my experience here as a journal and also to help others if interested.

having gone hungry to lose 5lbs earlier this year and then stalled because I’m always hungry, I put 4lbs back on. Being v pear shaped I never have a belly, but now it sticks out and digs in and clothes are uncomfortable. Doing more exercise makes no difference. It is clear that will power simply doesn’t work for me.

I took my first dose (0.25mg) last night. Woke up around 2.30 with pain at the injection site which passed. Was v thirsty so gulped water which just seemed to sit there. A couple of small burps. Got back to sleep. Weirdly vivid dreams. This morning, not particularly hungry first thing.

I wouldn't personally stop breastfeeding to take this; if you were intending to do it for a year it's of great benefit to your child.

BalloonArch · 07/01/2023 08:47

I took my second 0.25 dose yesterday, so this is the beginning of day 9.
I put batteries in my neglected scales on day one and weighed myself. I've just weighed again and I can't quite believe it but I've lost 8lbs!!

Probably not really - I was full of Christmas chocolate and my period was due when I weighed the first time, so I have probably lost a lot of water and bloating. But bloody hell!

Still 24lbs to get into the "overweight" category though, which shocked me, I don't feel that overweight!

orangelotus · 07/01/2023 10:13

balloon arch that's great!!
i am now waiting to take my first 0.5 mg and am looking forward to it as my appetite etc is just the same as usual now the initial effects have definitely worn off.
In some ways this is probably a good thing as it's made it clear that the drug on its own won't miraculously transform me.
I am remaining at the same weight so a loss of 6-8 lbs in 4 weeks. Next step is to cut down the white wine as I think this is my downfall.

Kfjsjdbd · 07/01/2023 10:22

Hi all, does anyone have a Juniper code?

Thanks :)

Athena51 · 07/01/2023 11:02

Back on it after a break at the end of the year. I've lost nearly 5 stone and I haven't needed to go above 0.5 yet. At the start I had nausea, sulphur burps and fatigue but now I just have the appetite suppression and nothing else. It's been a game changer for me in that it stops me thinking about food and snacking all the time. I feel like a "normal" person around food if that makes sense?

This will be the year that i get to my goal weight. I still have 4 stone to go but I feel so much better. I'm in my mid-50s and I was starting to think that bariatric surgery was my only hope.

Good luck to all of you.

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 07/01/2023 11:09

Wow - well done Athena

Cozytoesandtoast00 · 07/01/2023 11:43

Well done Athena! 😊

HermioneWeasley · 07/01/2023 11:47

Well done @Athena51 and @BalloonArch - what a great start!

@Kassandra0507 I definitely wouldn’t give up breastfeeding to start this. Breastfeed for as long as you want to and then give your hormones a while to adjust before you do anything. While some women find they lose weight breastfeeding, others find it falls off when they stop.

Wow, @Athena51 that's amazing. Well done! It doesn't matter how we get there (within reason), the important thing is that we get there.
I've taken my first dose. Had a precautionary porridge in case I feel sick later. Have just realised I will have to put a swimsuit on in front of four teen girls in May. That's sharpened my focus!

Katrinawaves · 07/01/2023 12:06

Wow @Athena51 that is tremendous! Can you remember how long your side effects lasted?

Goawayangryman · 07/01/2023 12:17

For those who noticed appetite suppression, did you get this on .25 ml dose, and if so, was it fairly instantaneous or did it take a few days?

Athena51 · 07/01/2023 12:18

Thanks everyone.

The side effects lasted a few weeks but I started on 0.5. I could hardly eat anything the first couple of weeks and the sulphur burps were horrible (I only get those now if I overdo it). I've learned when to stop eating and the best things to eat.

The fatigue lasted the longest and I had a bit of insomnia as well but everything is normal now. I don't want to be on it forever so I am trying to re-educate myself and change my habits.

I have noticed it but more about how much I can eat in one meal rather than appetite actually suppressed. I still get as hungry as ever but get full before the end of my meal.

Karmakamelion · 07/01/2023 14:45

HermioneWeasley
Please can I have your code. I don't know how to PM!
Thank you

Happierwithouthim · 07/01/2023 15:23

@Kassandra0507 I echo what others have said about continuing to breastfeed. I fed dd for 12 weeks & ds for 8 months stopping because I needed to get bloods tests done for unexplained bruising, I had hoped to get to 12 months, turns out ironically the bruising was caused by bf hormones & disappeared when I stopped. You've the rest of your life for losing weight but only this chance to breastfeed your ds.

@Athena51 thats very interesting about not going above 0.5mg my weight loss has stalled a bit but I'm assuming that's Christmas more than ozempic.

Kassandra0507 · 07/01/2023 16:11

Thanks.
You're completely right and I'm trying my best to just enjoy it and not think about the weight gain. And try to make healthier food choices for my DS and I.

Out of interest does any one know the main why it's not recommended whilst breastfeeding is it because of the way it will decrease your calorie intake or do the ingredients actually go into the breast milk ?

I think it's probably because you calorific intake would be a lot lower and you may need more calories to breast feed. So therefore it could effect milk supply or the nutritional health of you or your baby.

Goawayangryman · 07/01/2023 17:11

I just checked on Numan and it looks like it's £156 for the first three months which is cheaper than Juniper with the discount .. may switch unless I've misunderstood.

Also I just noticed that you have to stay on 0.5ml for months 2&3 with Juniper owing to supply issues.... For anyone that recently signed up with Numan, is that the same for you? I've had zero side effects today, well, a couple of burps but that's it. Still got hungry for lunch but ate less. See what happens at tea time...

It's often the case with me that I need elephantine doses of stuff to actually so anything. Hope this isn't one of them 😂

Cozytoesandtoast00 · 07/01/2023 17:16

Just an update from me.
I'm on week 3 day 4 (0.25) I thought the effect had worn off a few days earlier but it hasn't!! It was just that the nausea had stopped. I still have appetite suppression.
I've not lost anymore weight this week but then this normally happens when I'm on week 3 of any weight loss plan.
Feeling less tired now 😊

Katrinawaves · 07/01/2023 17:19

I’m on Numan and they haven’t said anything about supply issues. I am on week 8 so was on 0.5 but have decided with Numan to go back down to 0.25 for a few weeks as I am struggling with side effects.

Yes it's £156 for 3 months, I just checked with them. Plus if you order through top cashback you get £10 so month 4 is £185!

Goawayangryman · 07/01/2023 19:30

Ok that's quite good. Will swap to them next month then.

Thanks, I'm glad someone else saw this so didn't accuse me of misleading people! 😊 I don't remember it saying anything about sticking at 0.5 for months 2&3 and there isn't anything I can see on my account that says it.

ganggangrosey · 07/01/2023 19:46

Save 40% (max £40.) After your first promotional month, your subscription will return to its normal price for following months. This offer cannot be used in conjunction with the purchase of a Fear Nothing Blood Test.

That's what Numan says straight from the site

ganggangrosey · 07/01/2023 19:47

That normal price is £195
