Thanks. I'm still motivated and very happy I went under even though I'm back over. I was starting to think it would never happen.

I'm going back to vodka for alcoholic options. Cider really didn't agree with me tonight. I'm hoping I'll be less obsessed with the scales now and just know the weight will come off if I keep doing what I'm doing. Going to up my soup intake a bit even more.

I somehow managed to decline an office takeaway, crisps, biscuits and sweets today (new team, very nice but some very bad food habits!).

BeyondMyWits · 30/07/2022 08:30

Morning all... Nice to see motivation is high.

DD20 going back to their uni city on Monday to "move in" on her shared accommodation when the lease starts, and Dd21 is sofa surfing with friends for another week and a half - so will be able to get back on track with "decent" food, not fussy eater food from Monday. This Monday weigh in is probably going to be an increase, I'm just feeling the need for a pizza.

Pizza at the weekend always stalls things.... temporarily, but I have to balance it with July goals...

aaaaarghhhh conflicted....

endlesswashing · 30/07/2022 09:31

Morning all,

@BeyondMyWits I feel your pain Dd2 is very fussy.

After a very good week I fell off the wagon last night!
The endless family were out all afternoon and we picked up a macdonalds on the way back. So many calories 😫
I'm putting it down as treat (or poison) of the week.
Need to be focused for the weekend. I'll weigh in on Monday and hope for the best.

poorpaws · 30/07/2022 16:24

Sounds as if we are all in trouble @BeyondMyWits and @endlesswashing. I too have the dilemma of doing so well all week but this evening ruining all my hard work.

I'm not sure what I can do tonight to limit the damage. We have a family pack of gorgeous chips and they are quite big (four of us, two adults two children). I know I will indulge but ... I weighed this morning and I've hit my July target of 10st 12 lbs (the only target I've managed to meet). By Monday's weigh in I could weight more due to chips and fail. I'll drink Diet Coke so alcohol is not a problem but on the one hand I don't want to spoil my diet and on the other I don't want to spoil the evening as I rarely go out. ☹️. Guess my August goal may go better.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.

poorpaws · 30/07/2022 16:26

Just to add, don't advise me to only eat a few chips because I know I just can't do that 🙈

OP posts:
endlesswashing · 30/07/2022 17:02

Life is about balance @poorpaws avoid the chips at home but as it's a rare evening out enjoy yourself. Well done on meeting your July goal.

BeyondMyWits · 30/07/2022 17:05

I'm with you @poorpaws... I know we should all be saying "no, don't do it, remember the targets " etc... but to be perfectly honest, I've only been here a couple of months and I can already tell we are not that sort of people.

We're getting there... admittedly not particularly speedily but hey-ho...

BeyondMyWits · 30/07/2022 17:07

Well done on meeting the target @poorpaws ... I missed that bit. Not sure on mine, but I'm "in the ballpark"

TalkToTheHand123 · 31/07/2022 07:05

Managed to hit my target of 14.something at some point this month! Finishing the month on 15.0 stones. Not much of a loss but more consistent and giving myself a little confidence I can get the scales to show 14. something by the end of next month.

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 31/07/2022 10:25

Well done to everyone who's hit their targets (or indeed to everyone who hasn't, but struggled along regardless!) - @poorpaws what happened with the chips?!

DP worked yesterday - he's usually only Monday - Friday but they asked him to do an extra Saturday shift - it was 8 hours and he has now spent 17 hours in a foul mood following it Hmm it meant that I had to wrestle both DC to their activities yesterday and do bedtime on my own as he was 'too tired' (read - in a bad mood and couldn't be bothered with the DC). In turn that meant I had no dinner as DTS1 wouldn't go to sleep on his own and I was shattered by the time he finally nodded off. DTS1 has ASD and is such hard work at the moment, I try to make allowances but honestly, an almost 7 year old should be easier work by now - he's usually up early and within an hour is screeching and tizzying because he's so tired. I don't usually meet up with other parents during holidays as his behaviour is just too challenging and I'd rather wrangle him on my own, but then DTS2 is sad that he doesn't get to see friends. Aaarrggghhh. I'm feeling sad and lonely at the moment, which in turn makes it hard to resist the biscuit tin...

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 31/07/2022 10:30

Also @poorpaws , I have a couple of healthy food shops ready to go (each using a voucher to reduce costs) - I was planning to place my orders on Friday ready to batch cook over the weekend and have a nice fresh start on the 1st, but I didn't get paid on Friday Shock - technically my pay isn't late yet as I'm supposed to be paid on the last day of the month, but before it's been the last working day, it's just another worry to add to the pile!

TalkToTheHand123 · 31/07/2022 11:00

Aww Clara, well done for powering through x

endlesswashing · 31/07/2022 15:16

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl sorry to hear you are feeling sad and lonely at the moment. Are you able to get out on your own for a short while at some point?
Could you invite a friend of DTS2 over for an hour or so or arrange a video call with a friend for 10 mins?

poorpaws · 31/07/2022 18:10

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl aww I feel so sorry for you, it's so difficult trying to meet the needs of two children without much help. I have no advice but I'm so sorry you are feeling sad and lonely. You don't appear to have had many happy days since you've been here, I wish I could help but you wouldn't like my solution as it would be a bit extreme, which is exactly why I've lived alone for more years than I care to count. Keep trying to hold it together and sending you a big hug.

@TalkToTheHand123 You are doing so well and very soon you'll be in the 14 stone zone permanently. The 15s will be well behind you very soon.

Last night went badly for me, we had chips and pizza (the pizza was divine, a proper stone baked tasty one which was worth every single calorie). We enjoyed the first couple of hours very much with the kids entertainer giving her all. When the group came on we left after two songs. They were dreadful, couldn't sing and they cleared the dance floor in minutes (it had been packed before they started). We voted with our feet and left.

Today has been equally bad for me. I've been overtired today after a busy week and that's when I turn to food. My neighbour had made a huge gluten and wheat free cake which she gave me a huge chunk of. It was so lovely I kept eating it followed by my homemade blackberry ripple ice cream and quite a lot of chocolate and I dont think I've finished yet. No evening dog walk tonight and no exercise programme. It won't be good news on the scales tomorrow but I'll make a fresh start in August.

Are you all ready with your August mini goal? I'll see what the damage is in the morning and decide then but I think it will be a smaller goal than I've had before.

YESSSSSSSSSSSS! England are European Champions!

Brilliant, must have burned 2000 calories with nerves, on the edge of my seat... as close as I get to sport...

Sounds like you are in a hard position @ClaraTheImpossibleGirl , don't have any advice, just want to let you know we care. unmumsnetty hugs xx

triplecheeese · 31/07/2022 21:23

Sending hugs @ClaraTheImpossibleGirl. it is so hard when you're in the trenches with the DCs and it seems like your DP gets to opt out when he's feeling tired... what happens when you're feeling tired (eg now!???). I don't have any sage words for you, just saying it does seem that there's always one person who seems to get to be themselves and go off in a sulk and one who doesn't get the luxury of sulking. Are there other children in the family the DTSs could playdate with so you'd feel less pressure over DTS1?

@poorpaws WELL DONE on reaching your July goal!!! Even if tomorrow isn't 10st 12 on the scale, which I've got everything crossed it will be, we all go up and down and the important thing is you reached it and you'll get there again. I agree with @endlesswashing and @BeyondMyWits Everything you have described sounds absolutely delicious and well worth the calories and experience (except the group lol) and it will all cancel out with your other great work.

@TalkToTheHand123 well done on hitting the 14s! You'll be there again so quick!

Ive been up and down this week but pleased I ended the week exactly as I started it at 66.5Kg - July goal. I have also had a weekend of parties (kid friendly so no alcohol but sweets, crisps, pizza) and no exercise! Signing off July and starting again tomorrow.

August goal is 10st 4lbs or 65.3kg - the weight I was when I got pregnant with DS2. AND secondary goal is only to weigh once a week on a Monday. I'm terrible for getting on the scales whenever I'm in the bathroom and letting my emotions go wild accordingly...

Good luck for a sunny, funny August pals xxxx

TalkToTheHand123 · 01/08/2022 00:22

As the days go on I feel less tempted for pizza. Although never say never!

Marshmallows all gone now. Polished the last 4 off. Flavoured yoghurt treats may come to an end soon. Need to address the portion sizes at least 😂 Bread could be on borrowed time too.

Theredjellybean · 01/08/2022 07:43

{mention:ClaraTheImpossibleGirl}o@words pf wisdom, just sending hugs and hang in there.
Everyone else well done at keeping at it.
I've ended July 72.7 which is no where near what I wanted but did have huge holiday gain which is now off, so pleased.
It could be so much worse!!
August goal is 70kg.
And to not blow it at work dinners... Two this week.

poorpaws · 01/08/2022 08:02

🙈 least said about yesterday the better! Just that I had a chocolate binge from hell and I'm back up on the scales (11.05 😡🥴) I was never being in the 11st zone again and only 2 days later I am.

Goal for August is 10st 9lbs which is now A LOT so it serves me right! If I'd just stayed off track on Saturday I would have been ok but I was in a "what the hell I've already ruined my diet" mood yesterday and my neighbours lovely cake didn't help. I'm hoping quickly on equals quickly off so from today I'm on it.

It's DPs birthday on 21st September and I so want to look much slimmer by then.

I'll report back later and re-read your posts as I'm running late this morning (and I'm very ashamed of myself). But just to say well done to everyone for keeping trying. I'll be back later today.

BeyondMyWits · 01/08/2022 08:18

Sounds like a few of us met the targets at the weekend, but Monday weigh in has us back over. I almost made mine. Target 15st 10, actual 15st 11.

August target is therefore 15st 8, so 3lbs....but I might re-evaluate mid month as I am feeling some oomph on the horizon!

endlesswashing · 01/08/2022 10:00

I was also 1lb away from my July mini goal.
So for I've lost 12lbs. Losses are slow now as I'm close to my goal weight.
The plan for August is to loose 1lb in the next 2.5 week before going on holiday.

TalkToTheHand123 · 01/08/2022 12:21

@BeyondMyWits I like the sound of the oomph.

@endlesswashing Aww, off anywhere nice?

I couldn't help but weigh myself this morning and was a lbs under 15 stone which I was quite amazed at as I'd been out for a chicken burger, chips and chocolate cheesecake (family meal thing).

I had lots of soup though when I got back which seems to be helping going for unhealthy options and stocked up for today. Noticing results is really helping me try to stick to plan and mixing up the ingredients makes the soup plan sustainable a bit more.

Supposed to be going for afternoon tea at work on Friday which should be interesting.

daintydaisies · 01/08/2022 12:37

Hi everyone!
after gaining 3 stone over the past 3 years I think it’s time I actually committed to a diet. Was at a wedding over the weekend and I’m really not happy with how I look in the photos.

weather is nice today so will hopefully manage a walk later and might do a shop with some healthy food for the week!

it’s a new week so hope everyone smashes it 👍🏼

endlesswashing · 01/08/2022 14:04

@TalkToTheHand123 we are going to Turkey, it's our first holiday in 3 years so really looking forward to it. It's all inclusive so will definitely need to combat the effects when back.

TalkToTheHand123 · 01/08/2022 14:29

*Drools. How much weight gain is usual for all inclusive holiday?

I haven't been on a proper holiday for a long time. Hoping next year as this year's plan didn't materialise.

Weight has just crept up over the years. I could probably cope with half a stone gain at current dieting rate.

I'm targeting Xmas for a couple stone drop although I wouldn't complain if it came earlier.
