Anyone in the same position and wants to journey together?

I'm attending a wedding on the 7/8 and need to lose at least a stone to fit into the dress I'm planning on wearing and not feel like a blob 😬 would be good to get dressed on the morning and actually feel confident in myself.

Not entirely sure how I'm going to lose it yet - will definitely increase my exercise and am going to work on my diet. Will get weighed in the morning and check back in again 🙂

Well I ate some cereal for breakfast (my favourite cereal ever!)

From tomorrow I'll start to weigh out a proper portion rather than just filling my boots 😁

Currently have a ham and boiled egg salad for lunch. Have walked 2.4 miles so far today, will have another little walk this afternoon.

I'll keep this thread going for my own accountability I think! But would be good if anyone else would like to join 🙂

You’re going to have to do more than “work on your diet” I’m afraid. I would suggest Michael Moseley Blood Sugar diet which is 800 calories a day or maybe just get a new dress??

QforCucumber · 09/06/2022 13:13

I've just signed back up to WW on their £2 a week offer. I have a similar timescale to lose some weight, DBro wedding on the 14th august and would rather be a normal sweaty mess than a fat one hah!

Today I've had -
Melon and a Pink lady apple for breakfast
Tesco Chicken and Vegetable soup
a Belvita

tonights dinner is cheeseburgers (no bun for me) with a jacket sweet potato and side salad.

I've hit 5k steps so far (not bad for a 9-5 office job) and will do 30 min yoga tonight inbetween toddler and Ds1 bedtimes

tryingtofindmyself · 09/06/2022 13:43

@Divebar2021 not if 'work on my diet' means 1200 cals and IF 🙂 and I know I can increase my exercise. I think 8 weeks is a reasonable amount of time to lose 14lbs, less than 2lbs per week.

@QforCucumber well done! I enjoyed my salad for lunch, was going to have meatball ciabatta for tea but will bypass the bread and have meatballs and veg instead 👍🏻 going for a walk round the park this afternoon and will fit in a HIIT workout tonight if I have time (need to visit someone in hospital, not sure what time I'll get home)

@tryingtofindmyself

lol well you were sounding a bit casual about the diet bit. For some reason I was thinking you only had a month. I think a stone is do-able in 2 months yes. Good luck if you can get your head in the right place.

TwinklingFairyLights · 09/06/2022 14:03

Hi @tryingtofindmyself

I need to shift about 10 pounds. No reason other than 10lbs lighter is my pre baby weight (she's 3 now though), my happy weight and clothes just look better without my little tum. I'd like to join for tips and support please?

Swishswish26 · 09/06/2022 14:05

I think if you put your mind to it you definitely could. I’m hoping to lose 6/7 lbs in the next eight weeks (before my summer holiday) so will join you! I now do 30 mins cardio in the gym twice a week and two or three brisk 5km walks a week. Trying to limit portion size and cut down on wine but I find that part much harder than the exercise!

TwinklingFairyLights · 09/06/2022 14:10

You and me both.

Was talking to a body builder friend yesterday and he said he finds a cheat day once a week keeps him going (and he is really strict, especially if he has a competition coming up).

TwinklingFairyLights · 09/06/2022 16:47

DD is at her Dad's, so I'm heading for the gym. About 30 mins cardio, followed by 30 mins (sedate) swimming, once I finish work. If anyone wants to virtually join me 😃

tryingtofindmyself · 10/06/2022 07:26

@Swishswish26 I certainly hope so! I have some lovely summer clothes that I don't feel remotely comfortable in. No more children for me so now is the time to get the extra weight off and keep it off.

@TwinklingFairyLights how was your workout?

I've just been weighed, I'm at 10 stone 9, so I've put 5lbs on since February 😣 not ideal! But also not the end of the world. I'll be walking DD to school this morning and will walk the long way home, I'll weigh my breakfast so I know I'm having the correct portion size (and log it with MFP) and will do a HIIT workout at some point today too. Also planning on another salad for lunch.

Salad for lunch ✔️

Really enjoyed it 😁 and have walked 4.42 miles so far today.

Planning on an afternoon in the garden with the kids, and chicken/veg for tea. Need to make sure I drink lots of water.

I've lost 6 pounds in three weeks - sadly helped by having a very stressful few weeks and I lose my appetite when stressed but have also been consciously cutting out all treats except booze (not a big drinker just a few Proseccos at the weekend)
This is basically what I've eaten and an average of 6k steps a day some of those are slow jogs
Swapped breakfast from bagel to two weetabix
No snack
Lunch Greek salad and fruit salad
No snack
Normal tea eg veg bolognese but a smaller portion than what I normally have
Snacks almonds, fruit
I'm conscious I'm feeling a bit hungry at times and wouldn't do this long term. I'm naturally quite slim but want to just lose just a bit for my beach holiday

QforCucumber · 10/06/2022 13:41

I’ve failed lunch and had a scotch egg…: it my word it was fabulous.

back to it for dinner time :)

lljkk · 10/06/2022 13:47

2 lbs loss/ week is fast unless you start very large

One day at a time & I wish you luck, OP

suzyscat · 10/06/2022 13:55

I've done this before on slimming world. That's less than 2lb per week. You've got this!

Ill join. I need some motivation. My last diet was off to a great start then derailed by covid and back to square one. Luckily I've managed to maintain square 1 despite not giving a monkeys. Could do with a similar schedule though.

MobLife · 10/06/2022 14:00

Forget about cereal for a start-empty calories and more sugar than you need!

You could go full out Keto but it's hard to maintain and will make you feel like shit.

Michael Moseley's Fast 800 is a good place to start-try limiting your window of eating aswell. I only eat between 12 noon and 8pm-makes a massive difference. Mornings are for fluids, no snacks at all, cut your portions in half, and every time you feel hungry drink a pint of water. If you're still hungry after half an hour then eat.
I don't eat any fruit either-only veg

Oh and work out your maintenance calories too

careerandfam · 10/06/2022 14:16

Keto for sure! You might feel rubbish for the first week but if you seriously want to drop weight it works! Good luck

TaffyandTeenyTaffy · 10/06/2022 14:19

I'm 8 weeks from (hopefully!) a summer beach holiday, so I'll join you too if that's OK.

Currently 12st 10lb, having gained about half a stone since Christmas... mainly down to not being able to exercise much due to an ankle/tendon injury (hopefully on the mend)

Lots of protein will keep you fuller for longer. My plan is to eat low carb, high protein 1000-1200 cals a day, 2-3l of water and 10k steps. Plus 3-4 x 30mins exercise a week (running/strength/cardio)

Good luck all.

TwinklingFairyLights · 10/06/2022 15:05

@tryingtofindmyself

It was good thanks 😀. Back again today as I finish work at 3 and don't need to get DD til 6, so that gives me about 2 hours to do cardio, weights, swim and sauna, it's my favourite time of the week. Exercise isn't my problem. Diet is my problem.

Honourofgrayskull · 10/06/2022 15:22

Hi, I'll join to if that's ok. Scrolling through this thread as I inhale my afternoon packet of crisps means I need some accountability 😆
I've lost about 10lbs over the last couple of months but now coming to a stand still and putting a lb on one week losing it the next. Would love to shift another 10lbs or so.
My weigh in day is Monday so I'll hopefully have a weight lose to report in a few days (if I put the crisps away that is)

suzyscat · 10/06/2022 17:16

Ooh I love a hot, runny scotch egg @QforCucumber

The two people I know who have done well with fast 800 did no exercise in that phase and only when they were having more calories did they start exercising.

Personally I'm through with fasting/ low carb or medium carb/ v low fat diets. I'm also lose patience with calorie counting pretty quickly.

I'm aiming for a medium low fat ish but not abandoning avos, olive and some meats, including some carbs but smaller portions, whole wheat/ potatoes etc. Cutting down on cheese & butter etc. Aiming for a more balanced diet over all with significantly fewer snacks and treats. The obligatory if futile plan to drink more water.

For those not going the keto route watermelon is a great sweet snack and way to get more water in too. I'd live off it, but it makes me need the loo. Confused Just a friendly warning! Wink

tryingtofindmyself · 11/06/2022 07:09

More people 😁 morning all!

Well I'm feeling hungry this morning, which is quite nice as it means I didn't stuff myself with snacks before I went to bed as I usually do.

Not sure what's for breakfast yet (still possibly cereal, I know it's not great but it's a weighed out portion and my most favourite meal of the day.)
Will have another salad for lunch as I really enjoyed it yesterday.

Good luck to all today! Will pop back on later.

Amdone123 · 11/06/2022 07:30

@tryingtofindmyself , you can do it.
If you enjoy the cereal and weigh it out, have it. You have to enjoy your plan, otherwise you'll not stick to it.
Check in with me : I'll keep you motivated.

tryingtofindmyself · 11/06/2022 07:42

@Amdone123 thanks so much Smile when I've tried to lose weight previously I've failed because I've tried to cut out everything I enjoy and got no pleasure from food at all. This feels sustainable 🤞🏻

I’ll join please! I’m currently 10 st 10 which is a stone over my ideal weight. It has just crept up over the last year and I feel horrible in most my clothes. My problem is that when I’m tired I binge on sugar, so need to focus on getting enough sleep and cutting out sugar. I’ll be eating salads for lunch with plenty of protein, plus meat or fish and veg for tea.
