I've got 4 stone to lose and understand its going to take a long time to do it but it's taking even longer because I can never actually get started. (I'm also a stone heavier than when I "started")

I've sat down and planned out 5 daily rules and rather than focusing on what the scales say I'm going to focus on making sure I tick them off daily (or realistically at least 3) and the scales should take care of themselves. (Calorie goal/exercise bike/more water/10k steps/50 squats or sit ups)

You can follow whatever works for you, my theory is its the regular posting and accountability is what will make it stick...I hope!

I'll join. I want to lose another 1st before July. I'm doing another long distance walk and it's easier with less weight. I've lost 5lb since Monday by eating smaller portions, less carbs more veg and salad. More water.

I need to get myself doing some exercise today. Even if it's just a bit of yoga. I have lots of housework to do so that counts a bit.

NoMoreSnackcidents · 05/06/2022 19:45

Sorry should have said I had my in laws round this jubilee weekend so wouldn't be starting til tomo.... they've just left now and I'm shattered!

Will be taking measurements and weighing myself in the morning. I've charged my fitbit and written out my daily targets and stuck them on the fridge.

OP posts:
CuriousMama · 05/06/2022 21:58

I think that's wise anyway. I've been to a jubilee party today and eaten too much.

NoMoreSnackcidents · 06/06/2022 21:39

Well, it's the end of day one and I've done 4/5 of my targets.

Feeling pretty positive I can do this. How's ure day been?

OP posts:
Akite · 07/06/2022 07:54

I'm starting day 1 today, I previously did intermittent fasting which worked great for me until covid and lockdown hit. I'm now post menopausal with high cholesterol so I really need to do this.
ive ordered saxenda to try and help me get going, I did the first injection last night and now feel quite nauseous but hopefully that won't last for too long. I've weighed and measured and been horrified by my body fat.

Menora · 07/06/2022 08:37

I am fully into mine so far (1st 7 of 4.5 stone) but I am finding the scale isn’t moving as much since I started walking a lot more. I would advise measuring your waist, hips, bust and thighs so that you have another reference point and not just the scales. I am clearly building up some muscle now as scales the same for 3 weeks but dropped some inches off body parts.

I really wanted to get to a certain goal by a wedding in July but I am not sure I will make it there now, trying not to focus on it too much though, health is wealth and all that… I ache less and that’s got to be a bonus!

I drank alcohol this weekend, not excessive and low calorie G&T and I factored it into my calories for the day, but I will go back to laying off alcohol for a few more weeks to try get near the wedding goal

CuriousMama · 07/06/2022 09:20

I walked 7 miles yesterday but we went for an Indian meal last night. I didn't eat it all and it was the only meal I'd had. I wasn't hungry earlier. I think eating smaller portions has made my appetite lessen?
Not much walking today. Short shift at work then cinema. I'll try and do some exercise tonight. Af is due so feel some water retention. I have lost a few pounds though and not been at it long.
Good luck everyone 🙂 à

Lovemusic33 · 07/06/2022 09:23

I want to lose 1st for the summer (cutting it fine) but more importantly I want to tone up. I’m trying to reduce my sugar and carb intake and exercise daily. Today isn’t going well, I usually exercise in the morning but today I have the osteopath and probably won’t feel like doing much afterwards so I need to be careful what I eat. I have some soup for my lunch. I try and walk 5-10k a day, I’m a dog walker so it’s pretty easy to do 5k before 10am.

NoMoreSnackcidents · 07/06/2022 12:40

I have only just started using my fitbit again and I regularly hit 10k+ so it's made me realise just how much I must have been over eating to still be gaining weight! (Also not in office job - god knows how they find
the time to fit it in!)

I'm struggling today though. I was donuts!!

You just have to avoid everything that you are weak for and plan ahead with food. I just don’t look at or buy anything of a treat value that is over 100 calories total tbh!

So when I am focused and counting calories I might treat myself to a bag of salty popcorn (88cals) and even an Alpro chocolate pot (about 100cals) but then that’s it, the rest of everything else is in the Noom green or yellow zone (lean meats, veg, fruit etc) and I still have 100 calories of ‘red’ foods to add to my meals so I can have a decent bit of Mayo or houmous. Planning is only way it works so I mentally know what I am going to eat that day and I have a small window for something treaty but still within the limit of moderation.

tigerbear · 08/06/2022 11:35

Joining, as really need to get back on it. Started on the 5/2 diet in April, and initially did pretty well, with noticeable weight loss, but am back to square one now, having fallen off the wagon and put it back on again.
Every single time, I go all in, full on exercise and totally into a diet, yet as soon as I see results, I sabotage it, and think one bag of crisps won’t hurt, a dessert is fine, etc, then before I know it, all the good work has come undone.

My goal is for my honeymoon at end of August. I’d like to lose a stone, ideally, but would be happy with half a stone as long as I’m more toned.
We’re going on a cruise, with lots of dressing up for dinner in the evening, so want to be able to wear nice things, and for once want to feel confident in my bikini!

How’s everyone doing today?

My food/exercise so far:

Breakfast - 2 slices vegan ‘peppered beef’ and a banana / coffee with hazelnut milk
Never have lunch
Dinner will be Quorn casserole with sauce of tinned tomatoes, onion, courgette and peppers, and small amount of mash or homemade wedges

Exercise: 60 min walk & 20 lengths swimming

Fireblanket · 08/06/2022 11:46

Joining. Haven't got a lot to lose, but just come back off holiday and neither my work clothes nor me enjoyed the experience of me trying to get them on!

I find that if I simply eat 'clean' food (non processed; no alchohol) and avoid my mid afternoon slump, then I can lose the weight (albeit slowly, but I'm ok with that). Sounds easy, huh? 🙄

Fireblanket · 08/06/2022 11:49

like @tigerbear said, it's the having to accept that the odd snack ISN'T ok. That that one snack will inevitably open the floodgates to more and before you know it you're back to square one.

NoMoreSnackcidents · 08/06/2022 12:01

It's all or nothing with me too!

I'm still on track here which for me, being on day 3 is a massive thing! Did have a sneaky weigh just to see if the bloat was coming off and happy to see its in right direction.. though planning not to weigh too often so I cant get complacent.

I'm drinking more water and peeing about 90 times a day which is annoying..does that settle or is that the way it should actually be?

I'd heard that upping your water intake will mean your kidneys adjust and so you will indeed end up weeing less often- but having monumental ones instead! However, I suppose if you're drinking diuretics like tea or coffee that would cancel it out.

Givemeallthegin8 · 08/06/2022 13:39

il Join too op!

started slimming world ( just at home without classes) 3 weeks ago
ive 2.5 stone to lose

lost 9 pounds first two weeks but was a long bank holiday weekend here so went a bit over board 😫

Ideally I’d like to be down a stone by mid July but need to up my exercise. Will start walking in the evenings and cutting down portion size

Its so hard. This is my third time doing slimming world and both times I’ve lost the weight in two months . With extra lockdown pounds and habits it quickly came back on - and some 🥴

CuriousMama · 08/06/2022 15:04

My stomach is definitely going down thank goodness. Weight is stable. Af due so hopefully it'll go down next week?

Menora · 08/06/2022 15:30

The all or nothing approach is the issue. The more you restrict it, you will binge it when you do let yourself have it. If small things are part of your every day this is learning to be balanced. If I didn’t eat anything nice for weeks on end I would end up binging on it eventually. I just don’t buy large quantities of things and wouldn’t buy something like crisps, they are lethal once you start and have a multipack in the house. You can make healthier swaps of things you like for something that is still enjoyable and 2 examples I gave were salted plain popcorn and a chocolate mousse pot. I wouldn’t advise trying to eat 5 Doritos a day or saying you can’t ever eat them ever again either. If you are struggling with binge eating I would advise reading up on some info and dealing with the triggers like stress or boredom

tigerbear · 08/06/2022 17:48

@Givemeallthegin8 wow, 9 pounds in two weeks is great! 👌

@Menora crisps (and anything potato related) is my downfall. If it’s there, I’ll eat it. Agree, the key is to only buy small amounts. If there’s a tub of Pringles around, I’ll have most of them.

Have been inspired by the other threads about ultra processed food, and am going to cut down on the ‘Frankenfoods’ I’ve been buying loads of - such as Quorn pieces, vegan sliced beef etc. Not cut them out entirely, but alternate, especially for breakfast. I have been having several slices of the vegan beef a day, but going to try for every other day, to have some variety.

Been to buy oats, and have made an overnight oat pot for breakfast tomorrow, with cashews, blueberries, banana and strawberries. Also bought some whole meal flour to make bread for DH and DD, as found a super easy recipe online earlier.

NoMoreSnackcidents · 09/06/2022 13:54

I'm still going! Haven't got to day 4 for years!

How is everyone getting on?

OP posts:
tigerbear · 09/06/2022 15:50

Well done @NoMoreSnackcidents !!! 🥳

Day is going quite well so far:
Food: Overnight oat bowl with berries, banana, cashews and strawberries / slice of homemade bread and almond butter
1 coffee / 1 mint tea / 2 litres water
Exercise: Swimming - 20 lengths
Walk- 1 hour 30 min

Should be able to get in another 1 hour walk by end or the day.

just realised that I’m eating out or at parties 6 days out of 7 next week!! 😬😱
Plus, will be away from home, so not able to do my usual exercise routine. It’s going to be a nightmare!!

Fireblanket · 10/06/2022 09:11

I've lost a pound in the last three days. Yeah, I know you shouldn't weigh yourself often, but I was heartened to see that all my hard work was paying off!

NoMoreSnackcidents · 10/06/2022 12:51

Well done!

I cannot believe I'm still on track.. though I am going out for drinks tonight for the First time since lockdown and not sure hung over me will be as well behaved as weekday me! As I don't go out for long periods at a time I'm not going to restrict myself too much..life's too short to be miserable.

I'm sure I read the psychology of telling yourself you are allowed to have a planned evening off rather than than a oh screw it moment makes it much easier to go back on track.... let's hope it works!

OP posts:
tigerbear · 10/06/2022 16:48

@Fireblanket bloody hell, that’s seriously impressive!!! 👌🥳<<not jealous at all! 😬🤣>> It usually takes me about 2 weeks to lose even a pound!

@NoMoreSnackcidents have a lovely time tonight!!

I’ve stayed on track today, despite being out for a business meeting where both of the other two people I was with had massive burgers and fries. Was spurred on by the fact that I felt very conscious of my wobbly tummy, in a floaty summer dress- looked like I was pregnant side on 😱

tigerbear · 11/06/2022 09:24

Happy Saturday everyone!
Can’t believe it, have lost 1-2 pounds!!
First time the scales have moved down in months!!
