I've got 4 stone to lose and understand its going to take a long time to do it but it's taking even longer because I can never actually get started. (I'm also a stone heavier than when I "started")

I've sat down and planned out 5 daily rules and rather than focusing on what the scales say I'm going to focus on making sure I tick them off daily (or realistically at least 3) and the scales should take care of themselves. (Calorie goal/exercise bike/more water/10k steps/50 squats or sit ups)

You can follow whatever works for you, my theory is its the regular posting and accountability is what will make it stick...I hope!

@tigerbear same.i love crisps and nachos. I made some baked tortilla chips last week and homemade salsa. Ate too many but less calories and fat than normal ones.

@Fireblanket thank you. I was really surprised, as feel like my tummy is massive this week!! I think wearing summer clothes makes it seem more obvious though. So much harder to dress nicely in summer! 😬

@CuriousMama ooh, that sounds nice. How did you make them?

A snack ‘treat’ I used to make is crispy chickpeas, and might start making them again for something to nibble on when watching TV. Just drain a tin of chickpeas, spread on a baking tray with just enough olive oil to coat them, sprinkle with tiny bit or salt, pepper, paprika, etc, and roast until crispy!

I made them with corn tortillas cut in triangles rubbed with olive oil. Bake 10 minutes turn then for 3. Sprinkle with salt paprika etc whatever you want?

I found a recipe to do them from scratch with cornmeal. I'm trying them tonight. Big bowl of salsa too☺️

I've eaten out yesterday; tonight and will be Saturday. I'm going to eat very little tomorrow. Maybe some tomato and pepper soup?
I've been doing bursts of hiit. Running on the spot and fast but only 30 seconds at a time. 2 minutes in total, a few times a day. I need to do something for strength. Maybe some press ups and planks?

it’s been a terrible week, diet wise.
Similar to @CuriousMama , I’ve eaten out or been at parties every day since Sunday, and will also be out tomorrow and Saturday.
Went to a restaurant yesterday and had the 12 course tasting menu, FFS! Still, could have been worse - there was a 19 course option too!

Have worked out on Tues, Wed and today, and will try to do so tomorrow, but I know I’ve def put on weight this week, it would be impossible not to have done.

have decided I need to throw money at the problem, and have just asked my old personal trainer if we can begin next week, three sessions per week. 🙏

Nearly 2 weeks after first posting on here, I lost 2-3lb, then relapsed in spectacular fashion after my eating out frenzy of last week. Not feeling great, and that time is running out - only about 8 weeks until my goal of the honeymoon 😬

Beginning my training sessions with the PT tomorrow, however am eating out again tonight (and prob tomorrow) 😱

@NoMoreSnackcidents are you back on track? How’s everyone else getting on?

I am back now. 100 % I go away in 4 weeks.. but more importantly I've been tagged in photos twice this weekend and both made me want to be swallowed up... so instead I'm going to print them out and stick them in the kitchen!!

Hope everyone else is doing OK.. I'm off to weigh myself..

I've been needing to lose weight for so long but I keep getting distracted from actually starting. Went shopping today and just felt very uncomfortable in the fitting room. Left feeling low, and that it's really time to make a change. I want to feel like me again. If that makes sense.

Here are the things I know make a difference when I actually do them:

  1. Daily weigh in
  2. Only drink alcohol one night a week
  3. Exercise for 20 minutes a day (or every other day)
  4. Cut out between meal snacks
  5. Record progress on a Mumsnet Group

Plan is to start in earnest tomorrow.

I know what you mean regarding going clothes shopping. Did the same last week, and just felt terrible looking in the mirror without my clothes on, seeing my tummy wobble about, back rolls, and all the rest of it! 😱

Hi, can I join in aswell? I was walking towards a glass building yday and could not believe my reflection was actually me.

My daughter woke up an hour ago and is now sleeping and I'm wide awake thinking about what I need to change going forward.. Will start with calories and add in exercise when I've got a handle on it but having some accountability would be great..

I think most of us have that ‘oh fuck’ moment when seeing our reflection. It’s a horrid realisation isn’t it!
for me, the weather being hotter makes it slightly easier to start eating better, as I’m not as hungry as in winter, and summer clothes are just way less flattering than winter ones, so there’s more motivation to try and lose weight.

onwards and upwards! Hope everyone has a good day. I’ve got my first PT session this morning 😬

Weighed myself this morning. 10st12. Reckon if I could get to 9st I'd feel a lot happier in myself.

Not off to a great start today. Had a slice of cake after lunch because it wanted eating up, then mum invited me round for a catch up and ice cream.

Also it is so hot that I really don't want to do exercise but my plan is to start gentle. DH is out this evening and the moment he is gone I'm going to draw the curtains and do a dance workout thing using YouTube. I'll be happy if I can just move around for 20 minutes!

I lost a pound after a few days and have now it back on plus 2 more!!!
Genuinely don't know why. I don't calorie count but know that if I stick to simple, clean food I lose weight. Except this time. 🙄
In a 'fuck it' frame of mind now but NEED to stick with the regime!

Sorry @Fireblanket , that is so frustrating! The effort has to pay off eventually.

I've had a bad day effort wise, in that I haven't made any effort. DD came home from school feeling really poorly. She was really tires, cold and said she had a headache. Don't know if it's covid or just maybe too much sun. Didn't want to give her a test because she hates them and was already weepy. Will test her in the morning though.

So my evening involved cuddling her, and cooking pie and chips, and not exercising.

Must try and actually do some exercise tomorrow

10st11 this morning. Think it is a fluke but I'll take it.

I still have DD off school, she's a lot better but still tired and only just got her appetite back this morning. Been a bit tied to the house looking after her but if its not too hot today I might try and get a lunch time walk in around the park

I'm helping out at a youth club this evening so will have to resist all the took shop sweets!

I’ve been pretty good on the exercise front this week - 2 sessions with the PT, and 2 sessions doing the 30 Day Shred - and feeling more toned.
but could def do better food/drink wise, having eaten out twice, and had alcohol 3 nights in a row 😬

Lost 4lbs. Hadn't weighed myself but thought my face looked thinner?
I'm putting it down to more salad and veg. And doing short bursts of running fast on the spot for 30 seconds. Just as and when. Certainly a lot easier now to do. I walk a lot anyway but this has upped my metabolism imo.
