I’m starting my Saxenda journey today! Anybody else on Saxenda with tips or success stories? I have about 10 stone to loose so a long way to go.

@takemetomars it took 2 weeks and 2 increases in dosage for me.
I've ordered myself some new scales which measure body fat percentage (bracing to be horrified!) and which will automatically update my app on my phone.
went back up to 1.8mg yesterdays so far so good. I felt quite hungry for breakfast but had a banana and now feel ridiculously full!

troppibambini6 · 22/06/2022 16:09

I've just upped my dose to 1.8. Been picky the last couple of days so will see how I go.

Thank you!
I really hope this works at the next dose up. I am not sure I can afford it for very long otherwise

slowcookerforone · 22/06/2022 22:56

Into week 2 now and I'm sticking at 0.6mg with a couple of extra clicks (occasional evening sulphur burps since I added the extra clicks).

For me hunger hadn't gone away, but I have to make sure I eat a reasonable amount at meals times as otherwise I graze out of habit.

I have 2 stone to lose and happy to use Saxa as a crutch rather than the whole solution because I'm going to have to try and maintain on my own.

So far I've lost 5lbs, half of that is water, but I would be thrilled with consistent 1-2lb weekly loss going forward.

What I find strange is that I used to feel very ill if I ate so little as I now am, lightheaded and nauseous, maybe that was all in my head? Because I feel absolutely fine on Saxa.

16 days in now and 2.2kg down! A crutch is the perfect description. You still need to eat healthily, the saxenda just takes away the obsessive thinking/craving making it easier to stick with.

takemetomars · 23/06/2022 09:49

@empireemmy - we weigh almost the same amount.
A 'crutch' is a good description. I feel very 'controlled' but I think that this is because I am still in the first week of watching my food intake and stopping the nightly booze so I am very determined. Still getting hungry but it feels less urgent.
I am almost reroof feeling hungry as it makes me feel so bad physically. This drug is ideal for that IF it stops the hunger. I have a gastric sleeve (done privately 11 years ago) and was promised that I wouldn't be as hungry - this didn't happen; I was so disappointed. I have slowly lost the ability to feel the restriction it provided in the early days. I am hoping I can go right back to small portions and 'reset' my sleeve using saxenda

slowcookerforone · 23/06/2022 10:42

Interesting that the food stays in you stomach longer, definitely another good reason to eat more clean foods.
Glad I'm not a meat eater, don't fancy that sitting in my gut all dayConfused!

@empireemmy it's so amazing to me (and I know I've only been on it 11 days now so very early days) that I'm just not preoccupied with food, and I'm not clock watching until the next mealtime all day long.

I've yo-yoed about 4 stone my whole adulthood. It's not like I don't know what healthy eating is, or how to lose weight successfully.

This feels completely different, I don't feel unwell or like I'm starving myself or tired. I'm not bothered about carbs (which I normally have every meal otherwise I feel light-headed) and I'm prioritising eating fruit and veg because they are satisfying and tasty to me because I don't have that enormous hunger I get before mealtimes usually.
I've only eaten out once since being on it, and I had a starter instead of a main - nothing else needed.
I went to the pub last evening to meet a friend and that would have lead me to eat loads of crisps as I would normally be starving as I hadn't eaten dinner.
Instead I was very able to wait for food until 9pm when I got home (walking pass loads of fast food places and a mini supermarket) and once home I had a couple of carrots and a few sticks of celery, couldn't even be bothered to have any humous.

Today I ate:
B: banana and a tiny bit of museli
L: homemade lentil/veg soup
D: M&S salad bowl (no carbs)
Plus tea, water and real squash throughout the day

I've got lots of lovely food in my fridge going to waste because I bought way too much this week based on what I'm now eating!

It's truly miraculous so far.

slowcookerforone · 23/06/2022 18:53

I actually think I will save money because I'm only eating about 1/3 of what I normally do. And no expensive binges when I fall off the diet wagon - I really really hope this carries on like this..

takemetomars · 23/06/2022 19:24

@slowcookerforone - your experience is exactly what I am hoping for.
I am so desperate to lose weight now, I am 56 and have spent all of my life being hungry and obsessed with food. I have spent more than half of my adult life being overweight with a short period, post sleeve, being happy and controlled yet relaxed around food. I thought I had cracked it!

slowcookerforone · 23/06/2022 19:35

@takemetomars 🤞 for us both!

It's such a relief not to feel out of control and not to feel shame and guilt around eating/not eating.
I just wish there was a way to make this feeling permanent.

Don't get me wrong, I had an upset today and it crossed my mind to have some chocolate or cake to cheer myself up, so I can see the emotional side of comforting with food is still there. But it's so easy to brush away that thought and just carry on with my day and not be fantasying about a comforting meal or snack.

takemetomars · 23/06/2022 20:10

@empireemmy - we can do it!
I have too for my health!!

So my snazzy new smart scales arrived. Body fat 41% - mortifying! The saxenda is still working well though, I'm finding I am getting mildly hungry but am full on much smaller quantities and also I just really want to eat salads and fruit. No interest in chocolate or crisps or anything at the moment.

takemetomars · 24/06/2022 15:38

@Akite - don't panic!!! If this works for you it will come off in good time.
This is all rather strange. Have now had 5 injections, my sixth is tonite, all at 0.6 mg. I am feeling less hungry, can wait longer for food. BUT when I go to eat (I usually eat low carb) I can't eat very much and I quickly lose interest in the food. It just doesn't seem to hit the spot anymore. Is that common? It's very very odd

troppibambini6 · 24/06/2022 16:02

@takemetomars yep that's exactly how I feel. It's a really really weird few guys isn't it?!

@Akite just think though it will never be that number again!!

troppibambini6 · 24/06/2022 16:02

Feeling not few guys!

Day 19 for me and have used up my first pen. What's becoming clear is how much I snack when I'm bored rather than hungry. I still get the urge to snack on something but at the same time don't want to eat! I need to break that snacking habit and replace it with something else to avoid sliding back once the saxenda is finished.

Day 6 today. Felt a little sick when I got up but went off very quickly. I had a vodka tonic last night and it didn't taste the same. I looked up the side effects again and one of them is an altered sense of taste. I think that this is why I am not so interested in larger quantities of food but doesn't taste the same and I get bored and fill up more quickly. I am going to up the dose on Sunday to 1.2. I really hope I can stay at that dose- much cheaper
