I’m starting my Saxenda journey today! Anybody else on Saxenda with tips or success stories? I have about 10 stone to loose so a long way to go.

I got my first pen from Simple Online Pharmacy but I've just done my next from boots.
Does anyone know how long it takes to be approved?
My BMI is 31.5 according to them.

slowcookerforone · 18/06/2022 15:35

I'm 5 days down now - not sure if I've lose any weight but I'm definitely eating a lot less (not calorie counting - just sticking to 3 small healthy meals)

I had a couple of drinks last night, and a small meal out. No side effects.

I definitely feel some hunger, but it's very slight, it's actually amazing and very weird not to feel constantly hungry and preoccupied with eating or trying not to eat.

slowcookerforone · 18/06/2022 15:36

I'd love to be on this for life!
(Might have to win the lottery though...)

Hi everyone I'm on week 5(and a bit) and I'm up to 3mg, following the instructions set out. Lost a decent amount (11.5lb), I don't have as much as some on the UK Facebook pages etc. to lose as my BMI was at 33, now down to 31ish so it will be a bit slower/smaller losses.

But jeez, I don't normally get periods because I have the implant but my boobs are so sore and I'm absolutely starving the last couple of days. So I'm assuming it hormonal. I would really like it to stop now considering how well it was going!

slowcookerforone · 18/06/2022 19:29

@Lyricallie 3ml seems such a lot of liquid to inject, how are you finding that?

I'm tempted to try the weekly one (Ozempic) my thighs are feeling sore and bruised even after 5 days!

Akite · 19/06/2022 07:33

Finally! Noticing some effects now I've done 2 days at 1.8ml. Sulphur burps have arrived, and diarrhoea so not the best effects but at least I'm not hungry.
I was about to throw in the towel but I'll carry on a while longer. Go on holiday in 3 weeks and I won't be taking it with me (no cold store and a long flight) so I'll pause for holiday and restart when we get back.
the daily injections are fine for me, I have pernicious anaemia which I inject myself for twice weekly and the needle is a lot bigger and more painful for that!

Lyricallie · 19/06/2022 11:57

Fine it doesn't physically feel any different, just wait another couple of seconds (if that for the numbers to run down). It's definitely still helping with appetite suppression.

Akite · 19/06/2022 18:04

Todays been a revelation, I get what you were all saying now! No appetite at all, I've had a banana and half a bowl of tomato soup so far. I have hope now that this will give me a good kick start before we go on holiday

takemetomars · 19/06/2022 18:28

Is it better to have the first injection this evening or tomorrow morning??

Me too. 6 stone to lose. Yet to start. I'm either injecting tonight or tomorrow morning. Not sure yet

takemetomars · 20/06/2022 06:55

First dose was last night. No side effects yet

isntitapip · 20/06/2022 07:33

Glad to read that @Akite
It's the strangest thing. Food normally causes me to obsess but that's just gone. Last night I was at my boyfriend's house and he ordered pizza. I had 1 slice and wasn't interested in it more. Usually I'd really struggle to stop and not be able to cope with the fact that it was left uneaten but I just forgot all about it. It's made me realise how people with normal relationships with food are, and how bloody hard it is for us who don't seem to have that stop signal.
In week 2, I've not yet upped the dose as it's still working. Lost 5lbs so far

Akite · 20/06/2022 07:50

how long has it taken for side effects to settle, if you've experienced them? I haven't been able to bring myself to do another jab yet, my stomach is so upset and I'm constantly running to the toilet. I'm down half a kilo in 2 days which I know is going to be mostly water! I might try a 1.2ml dose tonight if things still haven't settled.

isntitapip · 20/06/2022 09:48

It was about a week for me I think. I skipped the odd day though because I felt bad and had plans I wanted to enjoy.
I missed a dose yesterday and although I've taken todays I am feeling a bit hungry. Just working on willpower waiting for it to kick in

troppibambini6 · 20/06/2022 15:06

Happy it's working for you now @Akite can't help with side effects as I didn't get any except mild nausea. Hope it they settle soon for you.

Week one complete. I've lost 4lbs and I'm well chuffed. I had one night where I drank and it was fine ( ended up being more like a bottle rather than the 1-2 glasses I said) there was pizza there too so I had one without cheese that I had 3 slices of.

The dose that's working for me at the mo is 2 clicks past 0.6.

troppibambini6 · 20/06/2022 15:07

@takemetomars yes current pen in fridge too Smile

Akite · 20/06/2022 16:57

Open pens can be kept out of the fridge, you only need to keep unopened ones in there.

troppibambini6 · 20/06/2022 17:48

Oh I'm sorry I didn't realise that. I've been keeping mine in the fridge sorry for giving wrong info.

takemetomars · 20/06/2022 18:22

I'm keeping my pen in the fridge as I don't trust my house big to get too hot. Just given 2nd dose. No discernible effects yet other than a pounding headache which I am hoping will settle. Not sure if that is work induced or the drug

Akite · 21/06/2022 11:25

Stomach has settled so went back to another 1.2ml dose yesterday, seems ok so far.
im now nearly 2kg down from my start weight, almost all of that in the last week. Really motivated to keep going now, we're on holiday in a couple of weeks so I won't do it over the holiday (can't keep pen cold for long enough to transport!) but will get straight back on it when we get home.

takemetomars · 21/06/2022 17:15

You are not injecting 3mls of fluid

Akite · 21/06/2022 19:34

takemetomars · 21/06/2022 17:15

Ah you are right!! It's 3mg not 3ml and at 6mg/ml at the max dose you'll be injecting 0.5ml.

BackT · 22/06/2022 08:09

So pleased today. Dipped under to the next stone. It's been at least 18 months since I last saw a different number at the front of the scales.

Have also gone done a couple of BMI since I started this which I am delighted about.

Initially I felt like I just wasn't getting the sort of losses that others were but now I'm starting to see (and feel!) the difference.

Also just collected next pens from boots so I'm in for the long haul.

takemetomars · 22/06/2022 11:19

Have now done 3 injections. Have had a headache on and off but no other side effects yet. I can't really tell if my appetite has been suppressed, I suspect not yet. I haven't weighed either, I hate weighing myself so will be weighing weekly only. When did you find that appetite suppression really kicked in?
