I’m starting my Saxenda journey today! Anybody else on Saxenda with tips or success stories? I have about 10 stone to loose so a long way to go.

Morning, you were right barely felt it!
I feel full this morning like I've just eaten a big meal. So I've not eaten anything yet, what does everyone do? Just force something small and healthy down? Will I eventually feel like eating something...

In my experience yes you will. I'm finding it easier to make good choices though and to feel like I've had enough food with smaller portions.

I'm having mushrooms on toast for lunch. 1 slice of the small loaf whole grain bread, loads of mushrooms, fry light spray.

This evening I have chicken breast which I'll put some seasoning rub on for flavour then broccoli and asparagus roasted as a side.

troppibambini6 · 13/06/2022 13:15

@FatAgainItsLettuceTime thank you, I had a yogurt and orange. I will have something a bit better tomorrow but I'm be got workmen in my kitchen.
I've put a healthy chicken curry in the slow cooker for dinner so will have some of that for dinner.
I really hope this carries on working like this, it could be a game changer!

Akite · 13/06/2022 14:45

I increased dose last night to 1.2 but still not feeling any difference in appetite today. I have lost 1.5 lbs over the last week since I started.
Very disappointed in it, but will give it another week and see what happens.

takemetomars · 13/06/2022 15:30

I have 2 pens waiting in the fridge. I start next Monday. I have 6 stone to lose. I really hope this works to 'reset' my gastric sleeve to feel full on very small amounts as I did just after the surgery. I'm not sure how long I can afford to stay on it though as I am self funding (sleeve was self funded too). I will be checking in

isntitapip · 14/06/2022 06:41

@akite, really frustrating for you. Sorry to hear that.
I've started injecting in my thigh and the sick feeling has gone. So thanks for that tip, whoever it was.
Yesterday I went for lunch and only ate half. normally I'd have finished my plate and overeaten but I just didn't want to. Totally different to my usual attitude to food.
Does anyone else get a strange taste the back of the throat and have really smelly burps a few hrs after injecting? I'm worried my breath smells (have a date tonight I don't want him put off!)

BackT · 14/06/2022 18:24

Well it's end of week one for me and no side effects. Definitely huge reduction in appetite and I just don't fancy much food.

HOWEVER I don't seem to have lost much of any weight. I assume it'll happen eventually but certainly no big first week loss. Hey ho.

How is everyone else doing?

TallTrees78 · 14/06/2022 19:55

Yes I've had dry throat and some burping.

I've felt really hungry last 2 days so maybe that's a sign to increase the dose - supposed to be from this evening, but couldn't face it. Too many meetings at work tomorrow and when I went from 0.6 to 1.2, I felt ill for several days.

I don't know what was wrong this evening- maybe needle wasn't as sharp but it hurt like hell and I lost a lot of the dose so had to redo it - but used a lower dose.

I think injecting every day is starting to wear on me going into week 3.

isntitapip · 14/06/2022 23:03

@BackT I've not seen a massive weight drop but it'll happen. It's got to when you're eating so much less. Today I was doing the kids' tea and suddenly realised I'd not put a single nibble from their plates into my mouth. Not even tempted. Such a change in mentality

BackT · 15/06/2022 06:08

@isntitapip I hope so! I feel the same though - I've changed my diet so much that it has to have an effect eventually surely!

I've put it down to the fact that I'm short so even though I'm categorised as obese I "only" have two stone to lose so I suppose it's going to be slower.

I shall persevere though! Planning to stay on it for 6 weeks until I go on holiday and then start again in September if it's been successful.

I was (am) so addicted to sugar that I just want to break that cycle. I've tried to cut out all added sugar and all alcohol. Even that has got to make a difference.

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 15/06/2022 12:18

Week 1 is complete and I'm 3lb down.

Main difference this time compared to others is that I'm not starving hungry in week 1.

I've been reducing carbs and increasing protein to try to accustom m6 body to that way of eating as I dont want to be paying for Saxenda forever especially once a pen only lasts 6 days,I can't pay £300 a month so need to be able to either use reduced doses or wean off after a while.

troppibambini6 · 15/06/2022 14:18

Wow well done @FatAgainItsLettuceTime Smile

Day 3 for me, all good. Fruit and fat free Greek yogurt for breakfast about 11. And a skinny cereal bar and cup of tea now.

Indoctro · 16/06/2022 14:15

Anyone considered the weekly drug instead of daily.??

I'm scared of needles so daily feels too much but I've read you get a weekly one

Just wondered if anyone has used it.

frydae · 16/06/2022 14:19

I really want to try this but I don't know how to approach it with the GP. Or the GP receptionist Sad

I'd love to try this but the cancer risk scares me too much. Did anyone look in to this more before starting Saxenda?

Can I join?

I'm 4 days down, I felt really strange and fatigued days 1- 3 but that may have been a coincidence.
Today (day 4) no side effects at all.
I inject into my thigh as per MN advice.

I've got 2 stone (well maybe 2.5 stone) to lose, another shorty here!

I'm tempted by the idea of the weekly injection as it seems cheaper and obviously you only have to inject once a week as I agree with pp that injecting everyday will get old very soon!

In terms of hunger, I still get hungry, been eating 3 smallish, healthy meals and am hungry for them, but not obsessed if I was eating that amount without the injection.
The heat atm might be a factor, but I put on weight all year round unless I'm dieting, so I don't think it's that.
It's weird, I definitely do get hungry, but I can wait an hour or two for food, whereas usually I am desperate for food pretty much all the time.
It's pretty upsetting to think it's just this missing hormone that I obviously lack which has caused me such misery, ruined my body (stretch marks/loose skin) and the shame and guilt around food/my weight my whole life since the age of about 8. I've yo-yoed constantly since then.

GPs don't prescribe it (think they might for some people.who are diabetic but few and far between from what I've read)

It's a private prescription via Boots online etc for most of us

They can refer me to the weight management service who do prescribe it though.

If you're on Facebook there's a private group on there worth joining.

Very, very few people get it via NHS prescription at the moment even via Tier 3 weight management. Some do though so definitely ask if you think you'd qualify

frydae · 16/06/2022 22:10

@Workyticket

I'm in Scotland if that makes a difference, but realistically I know I'm never going to get the help I need.

You could always get the weight management referral and make a start in case it does become more freely available the nhs?

I've had 8 doses now over 10 days didn't take it when I had a weekend of drinks and food planned. I've lost 7lbs. I'm delighted with that im still on 0.6 dose and going to stay on that until i feel like i need to up the dose. Ive felt a bit nauseous since restarting on monday but better today. I can't get over how it stops you craving food all the time.

troppibambini6 · 17/06/2022 16:50

Day 5 for me. Going well lost 3.5lbs so far. Was hungry yesterday and picked a bit at chocolate and stuff I shouldn't so last night I moved the pen in just 2 more clicks.
Bloody hell the difference today is unbelievable!
I've eaten half a chicken salad today
I'm just really not hungry. Although am going to unexpected gathering tonight where wine will be involved. Has anyone drunk on it yet? Like one or two glasses? Haven't injected yet today do you think it will be ok?
