any experience of ozempic

I've ordered my first pen of ozempic which will arrive to tomorrow and wondering if anybody can share experiences?

I've not found much on here and not on Facebook. I was previously on saxenda but it just didn't work out for me in the end i just got used to it. I initially felt side effects on saxenda and wonder if they will be similar on ozempic?

I was obese but have since lost weight and am now overweight. I have PCOS and feel like at times I'm literally addicted to carbs. I am hoping to lose about 10kgs

Hi all - mind if I join you?

I started Ozempic on Thursday evening. I have a 1mg pen but have started with 0.25 as I'm rather nervous about side effects!

Friday morning I felt ok - had a bit of an upset stomach but nothing too bad. Appetite felt normal

I was out for dinner in the evening and was sick around 11.30pm when I got home - could be coincidental? I don't know

Today I'm very tired. Didn't get going until 1pm and even then I have kept sitting down! Appetite seems reduced. Couldn't eat my breakfast. Lunch was a wholemeal roll with quorn and a bowl of black grapes. Ate that but haven't fancied anything since

Hi everyone, I have just ordered 0.5mgs 4 pens, does that mean one pen per week of the month? Then I can gradually go up to 1.0?

No, there are four 0.5 doses in each pen. So if you have one 0.5mg injection a week then each pen lasts you four weeks. I wouldn't buy that many pens at once as they don't have an infinite life.
If you need to go up to 1mg then you can buy 1mg pens.

LighterHeart · 09/09/2022 13:33

If you have leftover 0.5 pens and want to start a 1mg dose, you can just inject 2 doses of 0.5 one after the other. I would change the needle as well, but you should have enough with the pens.

Lots of places discussed on the ‘I started Ozempic last night’ threads. My Juniper (get someone to dm you a discount code), Health express, The virtual slimming clinic, Manuel, medical weight loss 4u. You BMI needs to be over 30 and you answer some medical questions online and pay (from about £135-£200 per month). And they will send it to you.

What happens when you stop taking it? Or will you have to take it for life? What about long term side effects?

Peridot1 · 21/01/2023 08:32

@Newparent2022x - I am not sure any of us can tell you if it is possible to get it shipped to Ireland. I think you will have to just ask the suppliers that @SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun listed in the post above. I know there was an article in the Irish Independent about it a few months ago and it is licensed so in theory you should be able to get it. Maybe ask on some Irish websites.

@AutisticLegoLover - the manufacturer has said it should be looked at like blood pressure meds - you would expect to be in them for life. In reality most people want to come off it. I’m planning on tapering the dose right down and just really keeping an eye in my weight. Much easier to cut back quickly and lose a few pounds than a few stone. And the basic premise of every type of weight loss is that if you go back to eating how you are to put weight on you will regain any weight lost.

RainyDays8 · 16/03/2023 12:42

@PolarStar @Rooma @lardass88 @robotchez @Peridot1 @eggsellentwork @AnnaMagnani @Moanranger and anyone else - now it's been a good nine months or so how have you got on? I'm hopefully going to take my first injection today!

Moanranger · 17/03/2023 09:55

I found the side effects bad. It made me depressed/anxious & vv tired. So I didn’t take it for long.
For me, the appetite suppression was mild, and no better than if I simply avoid carbs.
I took Saxenda for awhile which was somewhat more tolerable, and I lost about 5 kilos, but the weight came back. I had my blood sugar checked recently & despite my BMI I have no evidence of diabetes. I suspect these drugs are more effective if you are pre-diabetic or diabetic, which I am not.
I am going old school now, diet & excercise.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 17/03/2023 12:21

I couldn’t tolerate either of them.
Saxenda gave me the most horrific anxiety. And made me very bad tempered.

Ozempic gave me really bad insomnia and made no difference to appetite.

Moanranger · 17/03/2023 22:04

ArseintheCoopWindow Interesting, your experience vv similar to mind. I hope others report back also. I think it is over-hyped. Lots of articles about it now, as a marvellous wonder drug, but I wonder how common our side effects really are?
