any experience of ozempic

I've ordered my first pen of ozempic which will arrive to tomorrow and wondering if anybody can share experiences?

I've not found much on here and not on Facebook. I was previously on saxenda but it just didn't work out for me in the end i just got used to it. I initially felt side effects on saxenda and wonder if they will be similar on ozempic?

I was obese but have since lost weight and am now overweight. I have PCOS and feel like at times I'm literally addicted to carbs. I am hoping to lose about 10kgs

So just weighed after my first week of ozempic- 5lbs off. Chuffed with that- know it's only water but still good to see it's working.

PolarStar · 14/06/2022 12:33

Can I join you on here, I've just had my pen delivered today, I'm quite nervous, mainly because I haven't spoken to my husband about it and I feel I need to tell him before I start. He's a lovely man but is naturally very slim and always makes good choices around food, and he can't understand how I just can't eat less. I just have no willpower, I've got about 3 stone to lose and am hoping to be able to establish a new way of eating over the 4 months + I plan to take ozempic.

Rooma · 14/06/2022 13:09

Hello I'd like to join too! My first dose was Saturday.

I've been on a weight loss journey for almost a year but in the past few months have stalled/ found it difficult with juggling the demands of a new job. I need a boost that can help me stay in a calorie deficit so turned to ozempic. Happy with things so far - my appetite is down and I've lost a few pounds in the last few days. Aiming to eat 1300 cal per day and I also lift weights 2x per week with a personal trainer and aim for 2-4 30-40 min cardio sessions as well if I can fit them in. I'm spending a fortune! But keep telling myself this is an investment. I've lost 55lbs over the last year and a half so I'm doing well. I've got between 40-55lbs still to loose - not sure yet what my target weight will be, want to see how I feel as I go.

PolarStar · 14/06/2022 19:33

Wow @Rooma you've done really well so far anyway, hopefully the ozempic will give you the boost you need. I would love to start running again but my knees are so bad, I'm hoping if I can shift a stone that will help but in the meantime I'm going to try and walk my 3 mile running route a few times a week. I've fessed up to my husband and taken my first dose, still hungry though 😂

PolarStar · 14/06/2022 19:35

@lardass88 I always like to think it can't all be water with a loss like that, there must be some fat in there too 🤞🏻

lardass88 · 15/06/2022 06:42

@PolarStar I hope so! Wonder when I'll start feeling/ seeing a difference

Rooma · 15/06/2022 06:54

One of my knees wasn't good a year ago too @PolarStar but I've no pain now at all- amazing what a bit of weight loss will do!

I'm on a business trip today/tomorrow and very interested to see how ozempic curbs my appetite in this situation. I'm pretty bad for indulging when no one is watching. already a bit peckish, unfortunately and started the day with a huge cappuccino which isn't ideal. I'm armed with water, babybel lights and a yogurt and hoping they can manage any appetite pangs till I go to dinner tonight.

robotchez · 15/06/2022 15:43

Really pleased to see everybody getting on ok! 5lbs is a lot @lardass88. Will be interested to see how everybody gets on. I have restarted intermittent fasting-will be weighing myself this week fingers crossed for a loss

So l forgot mine this morning.

And l feel less hungry. I thought it seemed to both increase and decrease my appetite simultaneously. Am l just strange?

lardass88 · 19/06/2022 09:25

Hey everyone so I'm on my second week of ozempic, last night I had pizza for my tea ( weekend , couldn't be bothered to cook anything) and early hours I woke up with really bad belly ache and vomited and had loose stools- this morning I've woken Up with sulphur burps. Is this normal? I'm expecting it is because of the high fat pizza but I also work in a nursery and worry I've once again picked up a bug from the children 🤣 I've also just had a quick weigh and still the same weight as last week ( my proper weigh day is Tuesday)

Peridot1 · 19/06/2022 15:47

Hi - hope I can join in. I started Ozempic in February. Since then I have lost almost a stone and a half. It’s not been fast for me really but I’m happy with that. And I did have a break for a few weeks as I was away. And I look like I’ve lost quite a bit more really. Especially in the face and neck and legs.

I started on 0.5 and did that for a couple of months and then moved up to 0.5 every five days instead of every week. I switched to the tablet form while I was travelling and was a bit intermittent in taking it and then I stopped for two weeks. Mainly as i was really uncomfortable with constipation.

I gained 2.5 pound when I was away but lost it pretty quickly.

am back on the injections now. Did my first one for a while on Friday and instead of clicking it around to 0.5 I ended up giving myself the whole 1g. So a bit of an experiment this week I think!

My appetite has hugely reduced. I’m not really following any plan other than the natural eating less that comes with the medication. I am conscious though of trying to make my calories count going forward as I’m eating so much less. I need to make those calories as nutritious as possible.

@lardass88 - sorry you felt so unwell after your pizza. And yes it’s probably the pizza that caused it. Fairly classic symptoms from what I’ve heard.

I am also in the FB group mentioned above. It’s quite good if you have questions.

lardass88 · 19/06/2022 17:31

@Peridot1 thought that was the case. Been feeling pretty crappy all day. Oh well lesson learned! You're doing really well. I'm not on Facebook but thank you x

PolarStar · 20/06/2022 06:02

Weigh in day for me and I've lost 4.8 pounds which I'm really happy with. I'm due to inject again tomorrow, only on the 0.25ml dose at the moment, some days I've felt my appetite has been reduced, but other days I feel I've had to rely on willpower, of which I am lacking! I've also felt a bit unwell and mardy a couple of days, not sure if that is the meds or just me!! @Peridot1 how are the side effects for you on the 1ml dose?

Peridot1 · 20/06/2022 07:58

Not too bad @PolarStar. I felt a bit queasy yesterday evening but was fine once I’d eaten. It might have been because I had a glass of wine actually. That happened when I started on Ozempic - I would feel queasy after wine. I managed to push through that though! Grin

My worst side effect all along has been constipation but I’m taking a sachet of Fybogel every day and that is definitely helping.

lardass88 · 26/06/2022 10:37

Just a quick question. I'm due to order my second pen and not sure if I should stay on the lowest dose or move up to the next stage? I'm finding my appetite is coming back but I'm still losing weight ( had a quick peek on the scales this morning)

eggsellentwork · 01/07/2022 08:12

I've just done two weeks and have lost 4lb, but I was in holiday for a week of that, and would usually have gained 4lb in that week, so I'm cautiously optimistic.
Had horrendous heartburn after fish and chips, so that's helped persuade me to eat more healthily too!

Myfirstbornisacollie · 01/07/2022 09:09

Place marking… starting ozempic today
BMI 32 and floundering with calorie counting
heres hoping for progress 😊

AnnaMagnani · 02/07/2022 09:56

@lardass88 at the beginning I kind of went at my own speed, if I was still losing, and getting used to side effects I took it slowly.

Also the fact you can squeeze 6 doses out of the pens making it more cost effective helped in this decision!

@eggsellentwork can totally relate to the fish and chips experience. It's a learning curve on things I don't eat any more and things I absolute do eat:
Don't eat - chocolate, cream, pastry, anything fatty
Do eat - fibre! Need to keep on top of the constipation.

Bonus of this is that it is basically a switch to a naturally healthy diet. Have mentioned before that DH has lost weight due the change in what I am cooking, and he doesn't even know I'm on Ozempic.

kikiterrific · 02/07/2022 10:11

I'm struggling to find a source for this. Can anyone help please. I'd really like to try it, anything that will help. I cannot lose weight and my back and my knees are killing me. It's a vicious circle.

robotchez · 03/07/2022 23:07

I got mine from healthexpress.co.uk @kikiterrific they were fine. Very easy to order very quick to dispatch. There are others but I can't remember their name. Mine cost £139 which I think m is the same as other places. Good luck!

Moanranger · 04/07/2022 01:58

I have now been on it for three weeks at 0.25. I have dropped 1 kilo, which doesn’t sounds like much, but I am happy with that. I am following a high fibre, low ish carb, no sugar regime, that I can basically live with forever. My goal is 12 more kilos. I imagine the losses will accelerate as he initial two doses (at .25 & .50) are to allow you to adjust.
I definitely eat less & crave less. There are some side effects. I get a bit of heartburn, but pretty minor. Not constipated but I keep my fluid intake high, & high fibre diet really helps. It most markedly effects my mood & my energy levels. I lack get up & go, but I still manage to get everything done, & I do feel tired a lot, but try to keep occupied & ignore it. When I feel moody, I just remind myself it is a side effect of the meds.
The lack of cravings & better control of eating is great!

ajkula · 19/07/2022 14:12

I'm at a similar stage to you @Moanranger not much happened for first three week, so I upped my dose to 0.5 for the fourth week and weighed myself today, to find I have lost nearly 2 kilos. admittedly I can fluctuate this much, but usually pile on weight in the school hols, so to be actually losing is great. Mind you, might be the sweating in this infernal heatwave... Really find i'm just not that hungry now, I'll go to the fridge with plans to make something and end up choosing something much lighter. Also, wine/alcohol def makes me feel queasy, which is a bonus as suspect it was the cause of many of my poor choices! Other than that haven't really changed my diet, but it was fairly healthy anyway.

eggsellentwork · 19/07/2022 21:28

I've just finished the 4 weeks at 0.25, but I couldn't find a 0.5 pen in stock anywhere, so I bought the 1unit pen. Does anyone who has the 1 unit pen know if it has the 0.5 marked on it, or do I need to guesstimate the halfway point?

4 weeks in and 8lb down. Hope it continues!

Flashsally · 19/07/2022 22:34

@eggsellentwork you need to count 36 clicks on the 1mg pen to get a 0.5mg dose. Google ozempic click chart. Well done on your loss!

I’ve been on ozempic (with a couple of months break) since August last year. I’ve lost 23kgs and gone from a size 14/16 to a size 6/8. Obese BMI to slap bang in the middle of the healthy range and all without obsessing over what I’m eating. Just getting on with my life without weight loss taking over everything! I’m now at my goal weight and will stop once this pen is finished so fingers crossed I can maintain from here! I honestly don’t think I could have done this without ozempic.

eggsellentwork · 20/07/2022 08:04

@Flashsally thanks for the advice! good to save a bit of money too!

That's incredible weight loss, massive congrats! Do you plan to stay on ozempic long term or will you try to taper?
