My story so far:
I started a thread “Lockdown stones to lose” in early June last year. I had nearly 3 stones to lose and was very determined. At times I did very well and at one point had lost over 1.5 stones.

Loads of people joined and then left and I think only four of us remained at the end. I kept plodding on. Just after Christmas I became ill for seven weeks (Covid related). I couldn’t do much or go out so my weight ballooned. I still kept plodding on. Then one of my dogs suffered an horrendous attack and whilst nursing her I just about lived on chocolate.

So here I am nearly 11 months later, most likely very nearly back to square one. I keep reminding myself that last time I said I would not give up no matter what! Will you join me tomorrow morning? I would love some company.

This is what happens to me…I do really well for a week . Maybe even two or three weeks. Then I start to feel really ill, hungry and really weak. So I start eating something I shouldn’t. Then I’m stuffing myself with things I shouldn’t. Then it’s all over. What can I do about this?!!

endlesswashing · 21/06/2022 08:32

Someone please give me a kick up the bum. Got into rut of blowing out at the weekends again and then not really getting back on track during the week. I did work longer hours last week which didn't help.
Going to do a gentle online workout today hopefully that will give me my motivation back.

ClinkeyMonkey · 21/06/2022 09:42

@endlesswashing wish I had some answers, but I'm on here confessing every Monday after the invariable weekend binge. I manage to be sensible Monday to Thursday, wavering on Friday, then full on everything-you-can eat on Saturday, with a bit of clawing back on Sunday. And I am stuck on repeat!!

endlesswashing · 21/06/2022 09:50

@ClinkeyMonkey I'm stuck on the same cycle although my Mondays are spent finishing all the junk food too!
So silly as I'm completely sabotaging my previous efforts.
I think I just need to put on my big girl pants and take ownership.

Forresttheout · 21/06/2022 10:24

Morning, I am useless at this thread but still carrying on with my attempts to reduce junk and portions. So far I have only lost 0.5kg so trying to really reduce my calorie intake and think more about what I am eating.
Today I fasted until 12pm and then had a fruit salad with some branflakes and nuts. Probably to high in sugar to be great but I have been really ill all weekend and was really craving fruit so I think my body was wanting all the vitamins. Trying to be extra strict this week as I am going away for the weekend to stay with some real foodie friends so there will probably be a lot of irresistible food and wine.

BeyondMyWits · 21/06/2022 15:59

Hiya all... not doing too bad today, I think the "15stone something" has really helped, that little niggling fear of going back to 16 something next week.

Did a fridge rummage to check what's left and have meal planned for the next 3 days too... stops the midweek "can't be bothered " takeaway.
Pork loin steaks with lemon and black pepper breadcrumbs, roasted peppers/tomatoes/mushrooms/broccoli and some form of potato tonight. Looking forward to it.

triplecheeese · 21/06/2022 16:15

Hello everyone. Congratulations to you all on keeping on, even if it is not where you'd like, i think it's good to check in.

I am keeping on with my classic self sabotage... I saw a 67.95kg on the scale last week and that kicked off a spiral of eating that then fell into our weekend (including Monday) of celebration events. I don't regret cake or champagne but it would be better to save the treats for a treat and not just a boring Tuesday afternoon.

@poorpaws I'm sorry for your sadness and your SIL's move. Not the same at all but my friend, who is the only person I know IRL with a baby similar age to mine, is also moving away. She's isolated where we live so it's the best thing to do but I'm sad for our babies and sadder for me. Tho it might help my brownie consumption... a very very dim sliver of silver lining. You're right that I did manage to get to 10st 10 but back up to 10st 11.5lbs today (68.8kg) after Binge Week, which could be worse. Am going to try my best for the next 9 days and not weigh until 30 June.

I completed the hot, hilly buggy 10K on Saturday! Unfortunately I also then received an order of swimsuits and trying them on was not a pleasant experience. Back they all go and I'm off to cut some holes in a bin bag to wear that in the pool.

Best wishes for summer solstice! If we can eat well and exercise on the longest day of the year, surely it's all easier from here...?

triplecheeese · 21/06/2022 16:17

@BeyondMyWits I'm sat here doing the (aspirational) meal plan too! Spaghetti & roast veg sauce tonight...

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 23/06/2022 08:57

@triplecheeese your spaghetti sounds yum! I have a fridge full of veg (after an optimistic shopping trip on Tuesday) but no time to plan/ cook Confused massive well done on your buggy 10K though, that must have been tough!

I've done a short workout for the past couple of days @endlesswashing, but it's been tough in the heat and because I'm so tubby - I'm looking for a short one which includes some weights now, as I definitely need to add resistance training to my workouts.

@CanadianJohn I too read posts where people say "I ate too much popcorn" and think "oooh, I haven't had popcorn for ages"...!

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 23/06/2022 09:14

@ClinkeyMonkey sending you Flowers (belatedly!) for Father's Day. My DF is still alive but due to DM being so 'prickly' it's tough to maintain a relationship with them; no dementia (I don't think) but she's just easily offended, sulks a lot etc. Makes me very jealous of people on MN who say "my DM has been amazing" as my DM has always been less than supportive!

@Theredjellybean how lovely of you to take your DD and DSD to uni open days - again I don't remember my parents taking me to any (although perhaps things were different in the early 90s?), but it's nice that you're enjoying the days out - apart from the food aspect!

Hope you're managing to avoid those high calorie carrots @BeyondMyWits Grin and here was me thinking that carrot sticks were a dieter's friend, how wrong can I be?! Well done in being in the next stone down bracket!!

Are you feeling any more motivated yet @Bigbus?

BeyondMyWits · 23/06/2022 09:50

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl... 😄... I ate extra carrots!

Stir fry tonight... including carrot ribbons!... and cabbage, peppers, beanshoots etc. May have some thinly sliced turkey and a bit of black bean sauce.

How is everyone doing in the heat? Does everyone have heat? I am seriously wilting, and the dog is hogging the fan!! (Which is not fair considering I got up early to take him on his walk before it got hot!)

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 23/06/2022 09:59

Has your ooomph returned yet @poorpaws ? Mine is still absent Sad - I desperately need a couple of hours to myself to sort everything out and make a proper start, just no idea when I'll get it! It's a bit cooler here today (big storm heading in, apparently) - could you have veg soup instead of a salad, it might fill you up a bit more? Or add some protein to your salad - egg/ cottage cheese/ ham/ chicken?

My friend is walking the virtual London Marathon in October for a charity which is very dear to her, and has asked me if I'd like to join her Shock - sadly probably separately as she lives a couple of hours away from me, but it would be good to have a training buddy! It's 14 weeks away and I could probably manage the walk if I could find the time to do the training, but just don't see where I can fit it in. My left heel is really painful too due to a lack of decent trainers (still nothing from DM!) so I'd have to be careful. I'd love to have something to work towards but can't see where I'd find the time to head off on 10 mile walks, will have to find something more achievable!

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 23/06/2022 12:41

@BeyondMyWits beware those carrot ribbons, they'll add hundreds of calories Shock - maybe keep those to a minimum and treat yourself to a few Magnums afterwards?!

Much cooler here today, thank goodness, although the forecast rain hasn't appeared yet. I can't cope with that level of heat, especially as it didn't seem to sweat any fat out of me!

ClinkeyMonkey · 23/06/2022 14:24

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl thank you for the virtual Father's Day flowers. Family relationships never seem to be straightforward, do they? I wouldn't know where to start about my relationship with my mum. Suffice to say, after a lifetime of being her emotional crutch, it was a kick in the teeth when she developed dementia and came to rely on me more than ever. She's a good person though. It's just hard these days to remember her 'real' self.

I'm trundling along diet wise. I made cake on Tuesday and felt entitled, nay obliged(!), to eat a slice or two. But I haven't been snacking, which is usually a major pitfall for me. I got a bit bored with doing 30 minute runs and have been doing HIIT - fast (ha!) runs of 30 seconds, interspersed with 2 minutes of brisk walking. I'm still doing kettlebells at home too. Just gritting my teeth for the temptation of a Saturday splurge!

Hope everyone is doing ok.

ClinkeyMonkey · 23/06/2022 14:47

@BeyondMyWits we have heat today, but no sunshine. It's headachey sort of weather. As usual in NI, we have been watching everywhere else enjoying a heatwave, while we get rained on and blown about😭

BeyondMyWits · 23/06/2022 15:00

@ClinkeyMonkey ... oh no, would not love the heat without the sun!. Ours has gone cloudy and a bit cooler now... thank goodness, so took advantage of my new-found oomph to cut the grass and trim back the overgrown shrubs. Was still hot enough to work up a sweat and end up dripping with a red/purple face. (Sooooooo attractive...)

I am working on trying to convince myself I am thirsty, not hungry... but am feeling a bit awash with cups of tea...

Bigbus · 23/06/2022 22:02

Hello all I am not really concentrating at the moment. I’m soooo tired with the kids and work and my mum. I’ve managed not to gain anything this month so if my target had been not to get any fatter I’d be winning!

i hope you are all ok.

you’re a very nice bunch x

BeyondMyWits · 24/06/2022 14:48

Hiya all... hope everyone is OK. I'm just pootling along, but feel if I don't "check in" I'm just going to sit and eat, so hiya...👋

Bigbus · 24/06/2022 16:42

@BeyondMyWits hiya!

I’ve got COVID and for some reason all I want to do is eat!!! I’ve always envied people who go off their food, I literally use every excuse to eat more - feeling sad, feeling happy, tired, celebrating, commiserating, heartbroken…I just eat!

endlesswashing · 24/06/2022 16:57

@Bigbus hope you are not feeling too poorly and wish you a speedy recovery.

Bigbus · 24/06/2022 17:01

Thank you @endlesswashing i just have a pesky cough and am a bit exhausted. I wondered why I fell asleep yesterday afternoon!

endlesswashing · 24/06/2022 17:04

@Bigbus you must have needed it, best way to recover is rest. Be gentle on yourself and concentrate on getting better first.

ClinkeyMonkey · 24/06/2022 17:44

Sorry you've got Covid @Bigbus🙁 Hope you'll be better soon. I had it in February and my appetite was completely normal, so I ate what I liked which was A LOT. Whatever it takes to get through I reckon!

BeyondMyWits · 24/06/2022 18:03

@Bigbus ... sorry to hear you have covid, and the increased appetite. I tested positive on April Fools day!! But my appetite was zero which kick started my diet and made me want to continue ... weird how different it can be.

steff13 · 25/06/2022 02:14

I'm still doing ok with Noom. I hit 288 this morning, that's a 34.9 lb loss since April 24. I have been this far below 300 in I can't remember how long.
