My story so far:
I started a thread “Lockdown stones to lose” in early June last year. I had nearly 3 stones to lose and was very determined. At times I did very well and at one point had lost over 1.5 stones.

Loads of people joined and then left and I think only four of us remained at the end. I kept plodding on. Just after Christmas I became ill for seven weeks (Covid related). I couldn’t do much or go out so my weight ballooned. I still kept plodding on. Then one of my dogs suffered an horrendous attack and whilst nursing her I just about lived on chocolate.

So here I am nearly 11 months later, most likely very nearly back to square one. I keep reminding myself that last time I said I would not give up no matter what! Will you join me tomorrow morning? I would love some company.

@LotsOfTrees I lost all my baby weight, yippee! And then put it all back on, and a bit more besides Blush I saw photos of me from the slim days recently and was like - wow, I had cheekbones?! And now I just look like a potato...

@BeyondMyWits has your ooomph gone to join mine?! I know it's AF week and everything but honestly... I just don't even know where to begin. I have zero social life as DP is utterly bloody useless (in general and with the DC!) so it's not like I have events to dress up for, and now I'm so fat I don't want to go to any events, as I'm just embarrassed about how big I am. I'm feeling a bit bleak at the moment TBH - have just bought Why Diets Don't Work, which hopefully will be an interesting read!

Theredjellybean · 19/06/2022 07:37

Lovely to have you back @poorpaws
I can understand how you feel about losing your sil.. Really tough.
I also have big boobs... I had a reduction yes ago and loved it but bloody menopause and hrt has made them grow again.. I mean really I'm too old for my body and nature to play these jokes on...
They may shrink but I'm going to have to get to a low weight and I don't know if I can?
Still stuck at 72.5 today.. Last few days haven't been so good but at least not gained.
I have 2.5 kgs to lose to get to mini goal... Mmmm... Unlikely.
But Must lose something otherwise June is a standing still month...

Good morning everyone

I'm going to have to join the oomphless class, I've lost mine too. I was doing ok at the beginning of the week but it's all gone to dust in the last couple of days.

I think I should perhaps increase my lunches as I only have a small shredded salad in a bowl, very little in it other than the water content in lettuce, cucumber etc. I'm eating my evening meal earlier because I'm so hungry and then I graze all evening and so obviously gain the pounds, it's just not good.

Another boring Sunday to face, normal dog walk, housework etc, no excitement whatsoever ☹️

I hope everyone has a lovely day today, I'm sure it has to be more interesting than mine. Happy Sunday 😁

I‘M also failing again. Are loads of crisps and a giant burrito last night. What is wrong with me?

poorpaws · 19/06/2022 08:50

@Bigbus do you think we are bored with dieting? I think sometimes it goes on so long we think "sod it, I can't keep this up I need a treat".

My diet started on 7 June last year and I lost the first stone gradually and fairly easily (well it wasn't easy but the weight came off gradually every week). Now I gain a pound lose two, gain two pounds lose one, and my weight loss ends at nil or thereabouts every week. Just before Christmas I was in the 10 st bracket at 10st 10 lbs and I've been wanting to get back there for months. I thought a June mini goal would kickstart a nice loss but it isn't happening. But I know if I give up completely I'll be in the 12 st bracket in no time and that will really upset me. Sadly I have no magic wand.

My only advice is to keep trying, it's difficult. At least you haven't fallen by the wayside like a lot of the people who joined us so that's a big plus.

Keep on trucking as they say 🤦‍♀️

Morning all... dd19 is in the kitchen making pancakes for fathers day breakfast, that's not going to do my waistline a lot of good!

Still... have decided on roasted shredded chicken with a big plate of veg for lunch (cauliflower, green beans, carrot and swede), so that should help.

Strange we are all so oomphless!

BeyondMyWits · 19/06/2022 09:00

Forgot to add, to give you a laugh, I was on a diet thread the other day and was told maybe I should cut down the "high calorie" carrots... carrots sure as heck ain't the problem!

poorpaws · 19/06/2022 09:18

@BeyondMyWits 😂🤣 that sounds like a good diet thread, but what about the high calorie broccoli 🤣

OP posts:
BeyondMyWits · 19/06/2022 10:03

@poorpaws ... I know!😄 It really seems like there are 2 worlds out there, those of us that know we should not be eating junk but do it anyhow and spend ages getting rid of the consequences later ... and those that count every single calorie in and out... and think a portion of carrots need to be cut... when really the pancakes and sticky toffee pudding might be the things I need to cut down on.😄

Theredjellybean · 19/06/2022 13:31

were the carrots deep fried in batter and rolled in vanilla sugar ???

Theredjellybean · 19/06/2022 13:31

or perhaps actually a donut that self identified as a carrot ?

Theredjellybean · 19/06/2022 13:32

transcarrots are carrots you know...

Theredjellybean · 19/06/2022 13:33

i am at work today..its boring and i am tired and fed up as not had a weekend day just at home for 4 weeks now due to uni open days with DSD every weekend and i work one day every weekends....sigh....

BeyondMyWits · 19/06/2022 14:43

@Theredjellybean...🤣...
I feel for you on the open days front. Dd19 has just got to end of Y1, Dd21 has just got to end of Y2.... so we had 2 years in a row... such fun😄

Theredjellybean · 19/06/2022 15:10

@BeyondMyWits thank you for sympathy
My dd has been easy as she knew what course she wanted to apply to ( medicine) and was sure where she wanted to go...DSD also thinking about medicine but also wavering on another course whci is not overlapping with medicine places much so we are doing about 10 open days with her , DD tagged along to see the places she already knew she liked...
the nice bit is , the girls are really close and we are all having fun days out ...we like to be super judgy of the other people at the open day..and i can moan a tiny bit here but a yr ago i was not sure my DSD ( and she really is my darling step daughter , i love her as much as my own) would ever be well enough to be even getting a levels , so it is lovely to see her getting excited about her future..
but the food consumption is not so good to sustain me on these road trips !!!

Theredjellybean · 20/06/2022 07:49

Aghhhh.... Really cross as up tiday
73.0..ive been 72.5 all week.
Didn't overeat yesterday and done all my exercise sessions.
Blah!
Trying to focus on cm losses
Since May I have lost 6.5 cm round my waist, 3 cms round my chest and 2 cm round hips.
But I really want bloody scales to go down.
I hope everyone else is doing better with weigh ins today

BeyondMyWits · 20/06/2022 07:52

Wait for it.... I want a drum roll please.... half a pound loss...

BUT.... that takes me down to 15 stone 13 and a half... 15 stone something.... woohooo!🥳🥳🥳

poorpaws · 20/06/2022 09:16

Well done @Theredjellybean on cms lost and I'm sure it will show up on the scales soon. There must be a different in your clothes fitting?

@BeyondMyWits half a pound and in the next stone bracket down, I wouldn't be complaining, you've done well.

I don't really know where I am with my weight. I put some on when I was upset and I have now lost a pound but I think I still weigh more than I did before I was upset. I think I'll have to start from today as my weigh in total at 11 stone 3 1/4 , it's far too high! My diet twin @triplecheeese is a lot less now (10st 10 lbs ?) and now I wish I'd followed her lead. I've got to stop this evening bingeing, I found Kitkats last night I didn't know I had ☹️

Good luck with the weigh ins everyone and another week starts today ...

@poorpaws I reckon a pound off, no matter what your starting point is great. Good for motivation!

@BeyondMyWits that half pound is everything when it takes you down to a new number. Brilliant!

@BeyondMyWits losing centimetres is fantastic. I'd definitely be happy with that!

As for sad old me, I am still the same weight. I have had a horrible time with my mum, whose health problems seem to be taking over our lives. Not her fault of course, but she is largely oblivious due to her dementia. I also found Father's Day particularly hard this year. My dad died back in 2010 and, to be honest, he thought Father's Day was a load of old codswallop. I think that might have been what set me off - remembering his curmudgeonly attitude and laughing ... then crying. Anyway, I have been feeding my pain with chocolate. If this week is stressful, I may well do the same again🙁 I will try very, very, very hard not to though.

ClinkeyMonkey · 20/06/2022 10:31

Sorry - centimetres lost comment was to @Theredjellybean!

poorpaws · 20/06/2022 12:26

@ClinkeyMonkey Flowers your post made me feel so sad. As they say "sometimes life just gets in the way". I think its time to cut yourself some slack and if you have a few bad weeks don't worry about it, you'll catch up sooner or later. Sending you a big hug.

Aw thank you @poorpaws.

CanadianJohn · 20/06/2022 16:04

I'm 174.5, about the same as usual. I don't look at this thread during the week. If I do, I tend to notice posts that mention cake, or pizza, and my brain says "ooh, CAKE! Ooh, PIZZA."

The only way I'll lose weight is to have a lobotomy. How much does a brain weigh?

Theredjellybean · 20/06/2022 17:42

@CanadianJohn about 5lbs

ClinkeyMonkey · 20/06/2022 18:37

@CanadianJohn you always give me a laugh with your comments🤣 You would fit right in where I'm from!!
