My story so far:
I started a thread “Lockdown stones to lose” in early June last year. I had nearly 3 stones to lose and was very determined. At times I did very well and at one point had lost over 1.5 stones.

Loads of people joined and then left and I think only four of us remained at the end. I kept plodding on. Just after Christmas I became ill for seven weeks (Covid related). I couldn’t do much or go out so my weight ballooned. I still kept plodding on. Then one of my dogs suffered an horrendous attack and whilst nursing her I just about lived on chocolate.

So here I am nearly 11 months later, most likely very nearly back to square one. I keep reminding myself that last time I said I would not give up no matter what! Will you join me tomorrow morning? I would love some company.

Hiya all...
@ClinkeyMonkey ... the way I see it with "treats" is that they are basically junk. So we don't have junk in the house unless it has been specifically chosen. Having general junk food around is not really a treat, it is just ... food that is not good for anyone. So basically we have a treat once a week on food shop day... today... a doughnut. So we'll have a big stir fry for tea... pulled pork, loads of veg, mushrooms and noodles, with a doughnut later. Looking forward to all of it.

ClinkeyMonkey · 09/06/2022 18:52

@BeyondMyWits See, that sounds like a very sensible approach. And you're absolutely right about what treats really are. But there would mutiny here if I tried that. Maybe I could do it slowly and by stealth! If there was no rubbish to eat, I feel as though I'd be like a whippet by now (clearly delusional🤣) I don't eat particularly large portions and I do think about what I'm eating on a sort of rolling scale from meal to meal, keeping in mind that if I have something calorific for lunch, I need to rein it in at dinner. It's clearly not working though. But then the in-betweeny stuff is the killer, particularly in the evenings. Plain old boredom and habit rather than hunger.

BeyondMyWits · 09/06/2022 21:02

I wish it was easy to practise what I preach, but with our "treats" are a treat, not for everyday, policy, it is getting easier. Out of sight, out of mind and all that.

BeyondMyWits · 10/06/2022 14:19

Hello all... finished work for the week and just sitting. Was so busy and I just feel worn out today. Dog is going off his head barking at flies and I just want to eat chocolate... but I'm not going to as all we have in are Bounty bars, and I don't like coconut. (DH's favourite)

It would seem toooooooo sad to sit and suck the chocolate off... though I did contemplate it.

Mumstheword2022 · 10/06/2022 19:11

Oh @BeyondMyWits you have more self control than me!

i came home - also a really long and tough week- had three crackers with peanut butter so quickly I don’t think they touched the side.

then (can’t believe I’m admitted this) I grabbed a mini magnum from the freezer and devoured it.

You should understand that this was only possible because DH was but home ; I would not have done this if he was here!

feel like The Hungry Caterpillar 🐛

also followed this behaviour with a long nap.

i feel like I have fully overdone it in the treats BUT I promise it’s been a tough week .

BeyondMyWits · 10/06/2022 19:24

Haha, my self control lasted as long as DH saying "you look shattered, I dont fancy cooking either, shall we order in pizza?".... inhaled soon after.... at least yours was a mini magnum! (Crackers and peanut butter are proper food in my book)

BeyondMyWits · 11/06/2022 09:21

Morning all.... feeling bloated today.. too much pizza that was too salty.

Lesson is never learned!!

Still, got up and ate breakfast in the sun with the dog, looking at the "garden", so I know I'll be exercising today... grass grows soooooo well in the rain/sun cycle we had last week. Our garden waste collection is on Monday this week too (bank Holidays moved them about) which means there is a deadline worth aiming for!

ClinkeyMonkey · 11/06/2022 09:58

Morning!

My exercise today will be shovelling stones. We are having a sofa delivered next week and it needs to be brought in round the back. Our driveway has big giant bags of stones we thought we needed, but now realise we don't. The only reason I can bring myself to be arsed to do it is thinking of it as exercise!

DS2 and I will be having a movie night later as DP and DS1 are off to see Top Gun with SIL. He has asked me to make toffee popcorn😬 I can try not to eat any, but who am I kidding? I'll probably be asleep by halfway through the film. Said film will be chosen by DS2. I hate kids' movies - except Paddington, anything with minions and SpongeBob. DS2 likes all of these, so fingers crossed! We really do make sacrifices for our children, don't we? I mean The Lego Movie, Cars, Disney's Planes. Kill me now ... 🤣

Mumstheword2022 · 11/06/2022 17:33

So, someone on here mentioned Secret Eaters and I’ve just sat down with a Diet Pepsi to watch it! Forgotten how good this is!

i am a secret eater 😀

Mumstheword2022 · 11/06/2022 17:39

Turns out I’m ‘nutritious but naughty!’

Theredjellybean · 12/06/2022 21:27

Morning all... I have bounced around a bit... But think I should be at 72.5 tomorrow at weigh in.
I have also stuck to the whole week of exercise weights programme and weekly measurements also due tmr.
I'm in bed trying not to think about how my dinner of steamed fish, veg, two small new potatoes and a tablespoon of hollandaise sauce was really not satisfying at all.... 😢

Bigbus · 12/06/2022 23:38

I’ve had a disastrous start to June. Definitely failed again! Here’s hoping for a better second week!

Theredjellybean · 13/06/2022 07:20

Disappointed.. I'm still 72.5 kg.
I've gone up and down the last three weeks around this weight.
Trying to remain positive though as after jubilee weekend when I had one day off I was back to 73.9
I've lost 1cm round my boobs and another 1cm around my waist and 2 cms around my hips though, over all its
1.5 cm around boobs
8 cms around my waist
2.5 cms around hips

And 3kg loss.

I am pleased as I was bouncing around 74.5-75.6
Now bouncing around 72.5-73.0
But not sure I'll get to 70kg by end of June.... But going to keep trying

Theredjellybean · 13/06/2022 07:23

@Bigbus ....its still positive that your staying on the thread and keeping trying.
I think if I wasn't trying I'd be 3kgs heavier than starting weight now... So even if you haven't lost loads, if you haven't gained loads then you are achieving something

gonelululemoncrazy · 13/06/2022 07:27

Sigh! - another week of no loss/no gain.

ClinkeyMonkey · 13/06/2022 10:22

Gah! I'm up a pound. I don't think I'm taking this seriously enough. I had a feeding frenzy on Saturday, but don't know if that alone is the problem. I need to overhaul my whole diet and stop playing at it. And accept that what worked for me 20 years ago is no longer relevant. Stopping the Saturday blow outs would definitely help though!

Exercise is still going pretty well, but it's just not enough. In fact sometimes I think that psychologically I think it's ok to eat more because I'm keeping active. But it isn't.

Anyway, I shall stay and do better. The alternative is to just keep getting bigger and I really really don't want that.

BeyondMyWits · 13/06/2022 11:42

@ClinkeyMonkey your last paragraph resonates with me.. I don't want to get bigger and bigger either. My MIL had a fall last week and had to wait for the paramedics to come as it was not safe or possible for anyone to help her up... and she weighs a stone less than me... I do not want to end up there.

I'm 57 and just hit menopause (now 1 year period free), so it is hard to lose weight, but I am down 1lb this week... 16st 0lb now... was a bit disappointed not to see 15 something, but that is my June mini target and I am on my way!

Theredjellybean · 13/06/2022 14:15

The menopause has drastically reduced the calories I need.
Sorry tough love @BeyondMyWits ..but I'm only losing on 1100 calories a day and I do weights or hiit six times a week...

CanadianJohn · 13/06/2022 15:16

Sundays are unstructured for us, so food is leftovers or pizza, plus a nice cake or something. Despite this, I was down a pound to 174.

BeyondMyWits · 13/06/2022 16:28

@Theredjellybean... gee thanks😄, I know really, but just can't face it...

Well done to all the losers... and those who are disappointed - my mum always said "there's always light at the end of the tunnel, it's just sometimes there's a bend or 2 that stop you seeing it"

Theredjellybean · 13/06/2022 16:43

Sorry... Its so unfair

triplecheeese · 13/06/2022 20:10

Hello all. Bit quiet from me as it's been super busy... but when is life not.

68.05kg (10st 10) on the scale this morning, 1lb off this week. Keen to see a number starting 67, but got lots of events on next weekend so unlikely to be imminent. End June goal was 10st 7 and I'll need more than 18 days to get there.

@ClinkeyMonkey I always stuff my face after exercise. I always eat back my calories on myfitnesspal so I guess that's the next thing to go... sob.

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl Sorry to hear that you get it from your DM too... if she's anything like mine she's feeling sorry for herself so lashing out. I think my DM is after attention so she has to make everything, even my weight, about herself - so she will make a comparison about how much slimmer she was at my age, etc etc... I do hope you get new trainers eventually 😉 in case it gives you a wry laugh... I asked DM for large pyjamas for Xmas (DC2 was newborn so I wasn't going anywhere) and she bought me a 2 sizes too small formal dress which I then had to return to the shop myself to get her a refund 😂

@NatMoz my weekly buggy run is flat as a pancake so god knows what I think I'm doing running a hilly 10K with it on Saturday. If I don't post next week send help 😂

@CanadianJohn 174 is good news! Must have been all the exertion from burning that house down 😉

Missing hearing from you @poorpaws and look forward to you feeling strong enough to return.

Welcome to the new joiners and thanks for the updates everyone. Xx

ClinkeyMonkey · 13/06/2022 21:02

@BeyondMyWits and @Theredjellybean menopause doesn't have too many positives! I'm 55 and have been in menopause for about 2 years. It's not just the fact of weight going on more easily and refusing to budge, it's WHERE it's settled. My stomach has its own postcode😬 The very idea of 1100 calories a day! But really, you're right jellybean, cutting right back is the only way to see results.

@triplecheeese and @CanadianJohn well done on your respective losses!

Theredjellybean · 13/06/2022 21:08

I've never been able to eat more than 1600 without gaining weight all my life.
It's really all about portions tbh.
Society has us all believing we need vast amounts of food... Mostly we don't.

Mumstheword2022 · 14/06/2022 16:01

Lordy. So was 11st 10 Saturday . 12 st 1 Sunday and 11 st 11 today .

Was naughty Saturday but I’m all over the place … happier at the bottom end obvs but can really tell the difference just a few pounds apart

Need to crack on 🤪
